what you want to ask me for tomorrow’s show it could be anything preferably baseball related but like I might I might answer a non- baseball question or two i don’t really know so that’s all I got to say right now let’s get to the show uh and the tip of the cap goes to one of my favorite players in all of baseball one of my longest friends in baseball Andrew McCutchen he passes the iconic Roberto Clemente on the Pirates all-time home run list and what was really cool about this he’s third in Pirates history um just an absolute stud of a player i love that he came back to Pittsburgh to finish off his career but he actually got the ball back too which I think is really important for him we know what Roberto Clemente means to the franchise and we also know what Andrew McCutchen uh means to the franchise how are you with Cutch is he a guy for you yes I love Cut cut was one of those guys when I really started to watch more than just Angels baseball that I instantly really really liked i mean how how do you not love Andrew McCutchen i don’t know he’s just one of those guys everybody likes i feel like I’ll tell you what it’s for a reason he’s like the best person yeah uh I’ve never encountered somebody that has the ability the likability of Andrew McCutchen and then you know he was an MVP i don’t know if you ever heard of that okay guy’s a stud so shout out Cut love you bro and I still have more pop than you even though you have more homers than he doesn’t matter okay yeah it doesn’t matter if you have more homers he still has more pop yep that’s right all right let’s get into the topic sw let’s do this we’re going to be talking about the Blue Jays again oh my gosh they completed a three-game sweep of the Cardinals on Wednesday they won five to2 uh they fell behind early two nothing but then they kind of did it all uh a couple sack flies an RBI single from Bo Bashette they were bunting tyler Heinman kept hitting they up and down the lineup they are getting contributions uh Eric Lowour uh who’s they’re trying to figure out the back end of their rotation eric Lowour comes in he allows two runs over four and a third the bullpen turn and Rodriguez do the thing they’ve won 12 of their last 14 games to put themselves back into contention so Swills a couple weeks ago Chris Rose who’s usually on this show he’s the old guy right he said that the AL East and the AL Central was already crowned so talking about the AL East he said the Yankees had in the bag and he wouldn’t be surprised if they won the the division by 10 games did Chris Rose speak a little too soon well the thing for me is it’s baseball i just calling Okay listen chris Rose has a lot of experience covering baseball much more experience than I do but calling it in May I don’t know there’s a lot more baseball to be played and yeah like you said I mean the Blue Jays are super hot right now uh Boston just took a series from the Yankees tampa Bay is third in the division right now and I mean I don’t know just because you’re the best in a division when you’re the best in a good division you still have to play all of those teams so I don’t know i still think they’re the team to beat though i do think the Yankees are the team to beat but I think it’s still too early to say 10 games yeah look we both have learned our lessons i called the Mariners dead one year they made the playoffs chris Rose said the Mets were dead they went all the way to the NLCS right now the Yankees have a three and a half game lead on the Blue Jays which got to scare Yankee fans a little bit i think they really believe in their team and I think they do have a good team rays are only five games back i’d be more scared of the Rays than anybody because you just never know what they’re doing down there more on them later boston seems like I mean they’re pretty far behind right now nine games to make up is is a lot but they are they’ve called up all the kids they have all the kids are here to play so I’m interested this Blue Jays team though they if they go make a move for a starting pitcher because right now like they they have Basset they have Burios and Gossman giving them starts ben Francis is trying to figure it out they need to they they need some more stability at the back end of the rotation uh which I believe I truly believe there’s going to be a fair amount of starting pitch pitchers available on the market this year especially if the the Diamondbacks decide to sell if they go do that I mean their numbers are pretty insane uh fifth in average ninth in OPS uh for their offense and it’s only getting hotter they’re getting more contributions up and down the lineup as of late the bullpen is is second in whip second in Ks per nine third in hits per nine wow they’ve had a few issues early on with with Hoffman he’s he’s had some blowups but they’re figuring out there it’s really just a starting pitching for them if they can find a reliable back end of the rotation piece man maybe we’re going to get the Blue Jays that were promised the Prince that was promised yes yes wow i didn’t realize that they were quite that hot right now that’s all that’s all really good i know you’re I know you’re paying attention to those Angels but watch out for the Blue Jays i am hey listen if you if if they if they need a a starter if they need some pitching help I have a guy that a lot of Blue Jays fans really used to like that’s in Anaheim that maybe Okay wait don’t give it away because we’re going to go to this the second topic here we’re going to talk a little bit about our guy Mike Trout yes and your Angels i want to give you the floor here uh but let’s talk Trout since returning uh Trout’s looked awesome over his last 12 games hitting .33 he’s got a homer seven runs driven in he’s scored five runs he’s helped stabilize that lineup and the Angels are sneaky hot right now i know i mean you you like that swing i mean are we kidding who doesn’t like that swing that’s There was one guy on Twitter that didn’t like that swing i don’t know if you remember that do you remember that oh the Oh my gosh he said he has too much loop in his swing he’ll never hit at the big league level that was That’s a tough look for that guy no doubt about that oh my gosh I remember that that was like five or six years ago huh yes a while ago that’s so funny really no question here SWS oh maybe I do have some questions i want you I’ll open the floor for you to talk about your Angels do you think like they’re actually going to give it a run here i know they went on Didn’t Didn’t they go like on a nineame heater they’ve kind of been a a float here for a while you know holding there in the AOS do you think they continue to do this and what do you think they do at the trade deadline and why the hell are they going to put Reed Demer’s back in the rotation those are my questions okay lots of questions okay so yes they went on an eight-game heater a few weeks ago swept the Dodgers swept the A’s uh in a four game set and then we lost a series i don’t remember what team it was we played right after but a team that was under 500 the Angels are very hot and cold this year we’ll we’ll win a ton of games and then we’ll lose a ton of games which I don’t think is a good recipe to make the playoffs or be a playoff team so h I mean where do I start right now the Angels are playing well because everybody is hitting and because our pitching is doing really well we’re beating the teams that we’re supposed to beat and we’re competing against the teams that we should be competing against um one guy specifically that has just been crushing it which I think is linked to the success for sure is Joe Adele joe Adele seems to be on an absolute Oh my gosh what’s up with him and Reed Demer can you just put it all together for us guys i’ve been on the Reed Demer train for years that’s why I keep bringing him up but Joe Adell is almost in the same vein to me like clearly you got the stuff you got the talent clearly so let’s let’s put it all together for a full season guys yeah I’m I’m saying yeah Joe Joe Adell has been so good i think since May 1 he has a top five slugging percentage in all of baseball leading everybody i think in slug in the month of June i think he has six home runs now in the month of June so he started out the year hitting uh hitting breaking balls really well couldn’t really catch up to the fast ball now he’s hitting both so here’s to hoping he can maintain that streak however like I said I still don’t think that this team is ready to be like buyers at the deadline by any stretch of the means i’m thinking about some of these veteran guys that we signed in the offseason Kenley Jansen Kikuchi Darno and wondering what that may look like because everybody needs everybody needs arms at the deadline everybody likes a veteran presence for the playoffs so I like thinking about what we could get for a guy like Kenley Jansen right now who’s converted all of his saves and has been really good like that gets me excited so i I haven’t heard a level-headed Angels take in a long time angels fans don’t like me because I you know we talk about the Angels there’s really hasn’t been a lot of nice things to say about the Angels so I understand the frustration with the fan base uh three and a half games back of the Astros i know they just swept uh the A’s again so things are looking good there you I do believe a level-headed take would be yes those guys that you signed veteran guys let’s go see what we can get for them truly probably not our year to compete for a World Series title no so let’s go make sure that we’re putting ourselves in because there are some young guys on the team that I really like there’s a core there that you can build around so let’s go make sure that we have supplemental pieces for those guys i think that that’s where my head’s at it sounds like that’s what you’re thinking as well yeah yeah I completely agree uh fun fact too about the Angels sweeping the A’s today we’re 7-0 against them uh to start the season for the first time since 2014 i think the A’s have always been pesky for us i don’t really know why but just fun fact it’s been 11 years so their bullpen is no offense to the guys in the bullpen nice guys bad of course bad yeah and and and I don’t know what it is we haven’t seen Mason Miller once I don’t think well you have to I mean he he has no safe situations to go into they’re losing every freaking game they’re finding places to put him in that’s enough on the ALS so that was enough time for you okay okay fine i’ll take it listen I’ll take anything I can get okay let’s talk about Better Help right now the show is sponsored by Better great thank you very much you know Chris Rose get out of here bro i got I got it now no you can’t say that all right let’s move on because well yes we actually got it we’re recording this again i told you guys it’s Wednesday night 6:43 Pacific time david Peterson just completed a complete game against the National so he’d be a really good a great answer for this question I’m going to ask you he ends up going nine innings pitch six hits six Ks no walks he’s got a 249 on the season and the Mets just are one of those teams now that are turning garbage pitchers into not garbage pitchers they’re figuring it out uh another guy who’s having a great year probably under the radar for most people is Spencer Swelenbach he also tossed a complete game the first of his career he struck out nine he walked none um he allowed only five hits um and two earned runs on 105 pitches and he did this against the Brewers and a nice series win for Atlanta there i love watching uh Shreley pitch like when he throws the ball it’s like on a rope like yes I’m assuming uh he’s got a really high spin rate haven’t looked that up but when I watch him it sure looks like it he also has a nasty splitter lots of stuff going on um in the NL East jesus Lazardo also had a nice bounceback start he thought he was tipping pitches his last two starts he got shelled uh one game by the Brewers and I think I don’t know who the next game was i didn’t look it up people yeah turned around though yeah here’s the thing i asked around to a couple people I know that faced him and they said they didn’t have anything so whether they’re lying to me or Lazardo was just being you know uh trying to figure out what went wrong the last two starts well I guess we’ll never really know anyways Swellenbot great job peterson great job lazardo great job way to go guys you’re having nice seasons my question to you Swilly is Give me a starting pitcher who you think is under the radar having a really good season okay so I have a few i don’t know how many I’m allowed to say or not i don’t know if there’s any chris Rose would say one chris Rose would say one you can give me one and then a quick mention on another okay um you know what i have the most and I looked at the most at Yaldi uh he has like a 156 ERA this year and I don’t think I’ve really heard too big of a peep about it maybe I’m just on the wrong part of social media no maybe I am i don’t know why you looking talk about Nate Dog that’s my guy he’s my guy i love that trevor Plof i’m a I’m a busy woman sometimes I miss it you’re talking about Nate Dog it’s okay okay beautiful i will I would love to he has a whip that is lower than 900 he has the second best RA in baseball high ground ball rate uh and he’s just he’s a vet he’s he’s just he’s he’s good every year i don’t know i feel like he’s good every year and he just he’s just a guy that just goes out there and throws the ball and that’s it he does his job i don’t know he is a dog i I try to get him traded to the Twins every single year i literally go up to the general manager and the president of baseball operations and I say “Go trade for Nathan Yvaldi now.” Okay and they’re like “All right.” Uh does Okay Dan just interrupted our show unreal and to let us know that Aaron Judge did his 25th homer i’m in the middle of a thought and he’s doing Yes i uh Nathan is awesome he’s a big game pitcher uh and what I like about him is he can he can take over a game he can strike everybody out swing and miss stuff he can go deep into games so he can be efficient with his innings when he wants to be i I think that he’s just established himself as one of those guys that you want on the mound um you know come end of September and into October i I love watching him pitch i’m going to break Chris Rose’s rules because I always do that i’m going to go with the entire Tampa Bay Rays starting pitching staff nobody gives the Rays love and we get constantly told you guys don’t show the Raids enough love it’s like well you know there’s a lot of teams to talk about and sometimes yes we do overlook certain teams more than others but right now they’ve just been the epitome of steady down there in Tampa they’ve made all of their starts i believe they only have six guys that have made starts on that roster the entire year pepio’s got 14 Latell’s got 13 Taj Bradley’s got 13 Shane Boss has 13 and Drew Rasmusen has 13 they’re all getting the job done it’s why the Rays have been on this run it’s why they’re winning baseball games you know they they have some fun players brandon Low’s having a nice season junior Carro looks really good um Nate Low I think is is he now all of a sudden the best low brother i think he is whoa so I mean he’s crushing the ball like they they’re having a lot of fun down there but really it it comes down to their pitching you know you can go into their bullpen because they always have a good bullpen but these five guys getting the job done right now uh it it’s been super impressive and you can point to Yeah boss and Taj Bradley haven’t had the same success as Pepio Latell and Ras Muen um but they’re keeping their team in ball games giving them a chance to win yep it’s all you can ask for and yeah I don’t know i just I want I was going to go with Drew Res i was like you know what the the rest of the Rays rotation uh deserves some love as well i don’t really think they get talked about in like if we’re talking hey who were the best rotations in baseball i don’t think the Rays necessarily get mentioned a ton uh when they should and I think the numbers also are there to back it up i mean they’re second in whip uh fourth in walks per nine sixth in hits per nine um a couple bad blowup starts have inflated their RA but this is a squad that’s been getting the job done all year long yeah I feel like we always know that like raise pitching like people will go to the Rays and they become really good like I feel like we know that but like right now in 2025 we’re not sitting here saying that they have really good pitching i don’t know there’s there’s new teams that have become those teams that have like the Mets are that now the Yankees the Yankees have been have done a good job in that regard as well the Giants were like a reclamation project team for a little bit um the Brewers consistently do it too but the the Rays they just Oh gosh here we go unreal interrupt the show Dan no problem that thing barely got out wall scraper congratulations all right unreal don’t talk about another AL’s team yeah Yankees let you be yourself and they want to help you uh tap into the best version of yourself and I love that um so yeah go Rays man catch the Yanks let’s just The rest of the episode is going to be Yankee hate okay anti Yankees and you know what let’s start off with this because you know Aaron Judge is nice but have you seen what Byron Buckton has been doing lately today he hit the second furthest homer in all of the season uh for the Twins or yesterday excuse me uh he’s been on a tear since coming off the concussion IIL uh after banging into Koreah in in in Baltimore he’s single-handedly carried the Twins you know offensively he’s been a force at the top of the lineup i said this on the broadcast uh when he came back i said “Do you want a guy who is in the 96 percentile in hard hit percentage the 96th percentile in ounce above average and is also the fastest player in baseball?” That’s what Byron Buson is he is so dang good so I guess my question to you is I know this i don’t consider him underrated i’ve been I was teammates with a guy i saw the skill level do you I’m changing the question on the fly oh no okay yeah no it’s fine where where do you rank because you’re like an S tier A tier generation person where do you rank Byron Bucks as far as outfielders what tier is he on okay i feel like I feel Aaron Judge S tier boom got one okay now I see what you’re asking okay so Aaron Judge S tier mike Trout as a whole and his career is going to be S tier obviously um who I mean by Let me ref let me let me get because that was a little broad i don’t like to do that to you on the fly here yeah okay um Kyle Tucker where is Byron Buckton here same level you said Kyle Tucker’s here yeah yeah where is Yeah i mean give me your Byron Bucks demeter i would go I would go higher whoa yeah I think so i think that he has more more I mean it’s hard kyle Tucker is very very good at baseball but when I think about like the more I don’t want to say athletic guy but like Byron Buckton is just he he has all of these incredible tool like I don’t know i I feel like it’s it’s so hard what I was going to say earlier it it’s hard with Bucken because he just doesn’t get very many full seasons in so people think of him as underrated but people have said and I don’t like I don’t want to completely compare the two as the same person but I remember people saying “Is Mike Trout underrated?” Because they ride them off because he gets hurt all the time but like they’re both when they’re healthy and on they’re two of the best people to be tying up cleats every day so I I’m hesitant to put Byron Bucks above Kyle Tucker kyle Tucker is one of the most complete ball players in all of baseball and at Byron B’s best at Byron Buckton’s best yes he’s on on par with Kyle Tucker and there are times where you could put him above too there things that he can just do kyle Tucker though I think he may be one of the most underrated players as far as like baseball zeitgeist and you know national coverage this trade to the Cubs has helped his put a spotlight on him and this $500 million deal he’s about to sign in the offseason is going to put a spotlight on him but before that I think he was I think he was underrated byron Buxton to me again and and you you nailed it like he has not been able to stay healthy but right now he’s healthy and they’re letting him run and that’s the thing that they didn’t do for a couple years with this guy was I mean they basically put a shot caller on him they were not allowing him to run the bases they were telling him to not run balls out they weren’t allowing him to steal they were telling him to be not be aggressive in the outfield and then this year he came in had a full off season and they said do do what you got to do and if you haven’t been paying attention please start watching Byron Buson because it is an absolute treat it’s been it’s been so fun to watch i mean the catches the knocks the power the the stolen bases watching him go first to third is is awesome so I guess you got to talk about your angels for a little bit i just wanted to talk about Barry and just tell people if you forgot or you’ve written him off because he’s often injured forget about that he’s playing lights out right now he should be the starting all-star center fielder so there you go how about that oh okay okay i mean I I’m gonna echo what you just said to the Mountaintops because like I said like Buckston and Trout are not the same person but you know people write off Trout because he can’t stay healthy but he’s back off the aisle and he’s hitting a baseball one out of every three times and hitting balls 460 ft so I think we need We usually do this so get your People are already yelling at both of us what about this guy what about that guy okay hey if you’re watching the show on YouTube leave a comment give me your give me your top five outfielders in the game right now it’s It’s harder than you think when you start to put together a list uh I will say this so Yankee fans don’t hate Aaron Judge at the top of the list okay yes we understand that dan stop chirping in our ear we get that name the other four okay i think that’s a a good exercise for the comment section i like that so as we always do at the end of the show though Swill we end with something a little bit lighter and I’m a I’m a 12 years of Catholic school guy right here i bet you didn’t know that all boys school i shouted them out not too long ago shout out again wow crazy when you get an American pope and he’s rocking a white saw hat mhm i love it you kind of just got to show it and react to it like this is where is this is this in the Vatican he’s walking a white socks out in the Vatican i don’t I don’t even have a clue i So I saw this obviously all over Twitter but the first tweet that I saw somebody quote retweeted it and said “I can’t believe I am living a life where the Pope knows who Andrew Benendi is.” And it just made me laugh like I don’t know i think it’s great i I think it’s awesome x has been really good um I I saw Imagine how disappointed the Pope is in Eloy Jimenez’s development yes yes or do you think he’s longing for Yan Mona right now oh man I would be if I were him who like I guess we have to start thinking about this now look we’re big time now we’re shills for MLB we love The Shield you know we’re just puppets right that’s right but every once in a while that’s not true people my gosh look at the stuff we’re talking about right now um exactly who’s the first baseball show that’s going to get the Pope on a podcast this is the new world people let me tell you this right now even the the Pope is not above podcasts even the Pope no way that’s a good question if if talking baseball or baseball today Wow can land the Pope wow i think that’s that’ll do it for us rob Manfred uncle Rob my guy Rob let’s make this happen we want to grow the sport a lot of people follow the Pope a lot of people follow the Pope let’s get him on does he have an Instagram probably maybe maybe burner account or something i don’t know all right oh man this is a fun one today i really appreciate you coming on so that’s going to do it thanks for having me it was fun yeah this is Look we’re we’re getting content out as as best as we possibly can right now intern Sawyer was um working on these questions all day during the day staying home not doing what he usually does dan Works missing streaming the Yankees game to put this content out so thank you to both of those guys and obviously a big thank you to you as well Sarah Wilson unreal great ambiguous name that you have uh so for Swilly for Dan for Sawyer I am your host Trevor Plof and we will see you tomorrow for Ask Trevor Anything on Baseball

Ask Trev: we’re having our first kid in August. A boy. What advice do you have for us as new parents?
In your opinion, who is the most underrated current Reds player, Trev?
Hey Trev as a dad who is about to start trying for a second kid. What advice would you give a dad going into this change?
1:Judge
2: Varsho
3: Buxton
4: Tucker
5: Rodriguez
Dan Rourke with the Judge HR announcement had me dying! 😭💀
In 2025, would you rather be in the stands witnessing a: complete game shutout, a walk-off home run, a 13 inning game, a triple play, or a cycle?
Loving the different guests this week and Trevor is crushing it as host but I miss C Rose!
I was all for the Judge HR update out of Dan since he couldn’t live stream the game on Yankees Avenue last night lmao
Sup y’all! Just gonna repost my question from yesterday’s Talkin’ Baseball video with Jake so it’s here —
For Trev — when you were playing in the show, did you ever have any profound interactions with any teammates/players/coaches/etc around the league that shaped some aspect of the way you approached your playing of, or preparation for, the game?
Much love to you all; thanks for all you do 💗
Also shout out to Swilly for holding it down for us Halo fans 💪
Walter
I feel like next warehouse games… both Trev and Jimmy should be commissioners lol 😂
Trev, as a fellow forklift operator, what's the best way to unload a hi-flat trailer with material that has a offset center of gravity?
I like her as co host! She is cool
The most level headed take on the Angels is that they won't sell at the deadline. That would require an owner and FO that want more for the team than battling all season to be .500 (at best).
do u think it would be feasible to include pitch com on tv broadcasts? bc it would be something that would be interesting. hearing that little robo voice call out the pitch type before the ball is thrown. would be cool
What is JM's thoughts on Wade Miley being named one of the drug suppliers of Tyler Skaggs…..this is crazy allegations and very sad if true
Ask Trevor Anything:
Do you think umpires should have to speak to the media after the game ? And can you think of a better way for the umpires to interact with everyone, including fans, players, coaches
Side note can we get angel hernandez as a guest interview now he's retired?
How would you stop teams from using position players as pitchers if you are mandfred?
Swilly needs to get coaching on this format. She is making noises to acknowledge points, but that's really annoying to listen to.
Trev, you might have been a stellar baseball player, but I feel like this is your true calling.
swilly rocking that "im on the team" look that every female athlete has… i can look at her and tell she played softball and she isnt just a baseball fan or a writer. I can just imagine her in a full body sweatpants suit with her name on it now
rose takes a day off and now yall too lazy to do timestamps??
For Trev: What is a lost art in baseball that you think should make a comeback? Also, does Chris Rose smoke cigarettes and if so what brand? Thanks!
Let’s gooooo SWILLY
Swilly was great! Great fill in chemistry with Trevor
