ladies and gentlemen the Dallas Cowboys are still trying to find ways to bolster their roster as they are bringing in five players for workouts at the conclusion of their mini camp practices let’s get right into it and much credit to Patrick Walker of Dallas Cowboys.com for putting this article together that we’re going to go over today be sure to subscribe for more Dallas Cowboys content just like [Music] man shut your up all right so let’s get into it we already know the last couple of seasons the Cowboys have made it a habit to go out and try to scout amongst the top UFL talent and we’re not going to turn our noses up at this process y’all this is honestly them doing their due diligence this is honestly very very smart for a front office to to to to utilize all avenues of improving your roster even if it’s the NFL because guess what we’ve gotten an allp pro out of the NFL already by way of Cavante Turpin so you cannot poo poo that particular process and we have to take these signings seriously we have to actually look into these guys cuz some of these guys could be bonafide studs and they just had to go a roundabout way to making their NFL dream a reality right so let’s get right into it so we can figure out some of the names of some of these guys cuz not everybody’s afer true to their word and annual tradition over the past several offseasons the Dallas Cowboys are indeed keeping a very keen eye on the developments within the USFL formerly known separately as two entities the USFL and the XFL before the merger of the two leagues took place in 2024 and while it’s been a very active off seasonason for the Cowboys including adding talent to the roster via free agency signings and trades it never once meant they were out on what the UFFL might offer having had grand slam success in giving Cavonte Turpin and Brandon Aubrey a training camp tryyout in 2022 and 2023 respectively obviously we’re paying attention because we found a player or two through the UFFL executive vice president and director of purse player personnel Stephen Jones said during OTAAS so we’re watching that in terms of those guys are doing a good job over there to see if there’s anybody that can help us over here we’ll keep our eyes on who’s available as far as who they’re keeping their eye on specifically two names have surfaced within a group of four players the Cowboys will hold a workout for as mandatory mini camp concludes and the team breaks ahead of training camp not surprisingly they’re focused on the defensive side of the ball and that’s one of the things I would take a look at is seeing who they’re bringing in what position they play kind of gives you an idea of what position the Cowboys are still trying to improve at this point and juncture in the offseason so that’s probably that’s one of the more interesting things we’re going to get out of this beyond the actual names of these guys right so the first one we’re going to take a look at is Perion Winfrey defensive tackle love it this 24 year old is an interior defensive lineman looking to find a place on the Cowboys defensive roster that is looking to bolster its run defense also hailing from a recent stint in the NFL winfrey laced up for a very same stallions that once laid claim to Brandon Aubrey and there’s a solid chance this could be another good get when considering the former was named to the AllFL team in 2025 the very season he joined the league racking up 29 combined tackles 17 solo and nine tackles for a loss four pass breakups a forced fumble and a sack in 10 games also a former fourthround pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2022 winfrey spent the 2023 season with the New York Jets and guess who newly added Cowboys defensive line coach Aaron White Cotton on the same front as Dallas’s defensive assistant Tanzel Smart so Winfreyy’s try out carries plenty of possibilities so Perion Winfrey is a name that I’m going to look into i’m going to actually go back and take a look at some of his NFL games cuz that’s actually quite impressive that he had those kind of statistics um in a season in 10 games and if I’m not mistaken I believe it might have been the other guy might be the other guy about take a look at but one of these guys that we brought in actually kind of started halfway through the season and still ended up being a standout right but Perion Winfrey defensive tackle we’re going to take a look at him in just a second diver Levelston defensive tackle is a 24 year old like Winfrey but a native of Dodto Texas a community just south of downtown Dallas hoping for a homecoming after a strong showing for the Memphis Showboats of the UFFL where he currently suits up initially signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks in 2024 Levelston made his way to the UFFL to sharpen his skills and he’s doing exactly that posting 12 tackles and two sacks this spring despite joining Memphis midway through the season all right so we got another defensive tackle here and this is the guy that joined the team halfway through the season and was able to to rack up two sacks as well so that’s kind of promising right there not exactly the most eye popping stat line but I think at this point you’re looking for certain traits you’re looking for bodies you’re looking for competition in that defensive tackle room because quite frank it’s still pretty light in the ass right now right uh next up we have Jerry Jacobs another cornerback seems they are not all that comfortable with their corners there actually two cornerbacks on this list the other workout at quarterback comes by way of Jacobs a 27year-old from Atlanta Georgia who made his way to the ranks of the NFL through the program at Arkansas after transferring from Arkansas State earning his way there via Hutcherson Community College he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Detroit Lions in 2023 then going on to sign with the Los Angeles Rams in 2024 in 2023 Jacobs took the field as a starter against the Packers and grabbed two interceptions against Jordan Love something the Cowboys could have used in January 2024 at our real talk and finished the year with 55 combined tackles and three interceptions in 12 starts interesting robert Rochelle cornerback it’s no secret the Cowboys need depth and some assistance at quarterback given the unknown surrounding when Trevon Diggs will be ready for his return along with others working back from injury as well rochelle would like an opportunity to show what he can do and he’ll get it on Thursday the 27year-old hasn’t spent any time in the NFL as Winfrey and Levelston have but he is a former fourth round pick of Shawn McVey and the Los Angeles Rams who went on to spend time with four other NFL teams including the Kansas City Chiefs in 2025 48 total NFL games on his resume before now getting a workout with the Cowboys at this point it seemed like the Cowboys are just kind of throwing stuff at the wall and I think at this point they may be trying to address the bottom of their cornerback room as opposed to the top of their corner room i think they’re trying to shore up the depth that they have in place there that’s why they’re kind of looking at guys that can come help that room out and the last guy that they took a look at was George Fant of the Seattle Seahawks by far the most tenured of this workout group Fent boasts a total of 101 NFL games with 75 starts to his name at offensive tackle a position the Cowboys want to finish tweaking as they head into training camp he would add another veteran presence to a very young group a 32-year-old who has been in the NFL since 2016 fant has spent most of his career with the Seattle Seahawks but his three-year stretch with the Jets saw him play against the defensive line coached by White Cotton who got a great look daily and what Fant might bring to the table for Dallas and that probably is the most interesting name out of the group because George Fant as he just said is a guy that’s had 75 starts in the league that is over six years worth of starts in the NFL so excellent excellent bringin as far as a workout goes and if we can sign him for depth purposes makes you feel better about the edge of that offensive line with with some veteran presence there and I think he would probably be the only real true vet besides Tyler Smith or something like that he would probably be the only real true vet we have on the offensive line so just for the purpose of kind of bringing in some level of experience to that room I think that he could be a positive get right there and again another guy that kind of has that Aaron White Cotton connection so now we’re starting to see the Aaron White Cotton influence kind of seep through a little bit with Perion Winfrey and then guys like a George F and some of these other guys it seems like White Cotton is starting to get a little active and hey these are the type of guys I need these are the traits I need and those are the players that the Dallas Cowboys have worked out and we will keep an eye on whether or not they sign any of these guys what I wanted to do real real quick though was just kind of see how big these defensive tackles were so yeah Perion Winfrey he’s a big boy he’s 6’4 and about 290 lb as the last time he was weighed essentially so he’s a pretty big boy and Dare Levelston is another guy that’s that’s a pretty good size 6’3″ 280 lbs by no means are either of these guys the the prototypical nose tackle type but I don’t think we’re going to need a a real true nose tackle in Ibrauss’s defense as much as others may think but either way very very interesting news there as the Cowboys are trying to make moves to supplement that ros let me know down in the comments below do
