🔴LIVE 🔴Milwaukee Brewers vs St. Louis Cardinals – June 13, 2025 | Envivo | MLB The Show 25

about to get started here and towing the slab in this one Quinn Pier and a guy like this is going to keep you in the ball game He’s going to go out there compete Not going to see a whole lot of flare and flash but he’s going to hand it over to the bullpen at some point And if you’ve been able to score a few runs you’ll be in it late So we’ll see if he’s able to do that for his club in this one All right ready to go here And stepping in for the Cardinals Mason Win [Applause] Out to short Ortiz Zips it to first One up one down Here’s a Cardinal lineup Now this team can really pile up the runs Chris They’re among the top teams in scoring this year Yeah And when you can get a lead and be out in front it really changes what that opposing manager can do with the bullpen And on top of that it helps your own pitching staff It gives them more margin for error So instead of pitchers squeezing the ball trying to throw darts and be perfect they can relax let the ball come out of their hands and pitch effectively So that offense and the ability to score runs also helps the pitching and the defense Ivon Herrera batting with one down takes the strike swing in a line drive Base hit out of center field So a man aboard now with one away right there Does a great job of staying in the big part of the field Man there are a lot of hits there Brendan Now the left fielder Brendan Donovan Runner takes off Fouled off He was late And a pitch popped up and that drops foul This guy at the dish excels in two strike counts Got to be careful with him out there on the mound in the dirt Locked Got him swinging Two out Definitely made him chase a little bit out of his own right there I don’t think that’s a strike if he takes it Pretty textbook pitching Get ahead in the count Get the guy in the box on his heels and then force him to chase your pitch where he doesn’t have much of a chance to do any damage Wilson Contrarus in now takes ball one off the plate Contrarus goes 6’1 32 years old and he was born in Venezuela That one hammered but pulled fouled Herrera off of first with two away Had a breaking ball misses outside Pretty easy to give up on that pitch right there Started on the edge of the plate with the spin You know it’s going to finish well off the plate Swing and a highf fly ball to left Collins under this one And that is that It’s the Cardinals nothing and the Brewers coming to bat You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show back here in Milwaukee And for the Cardinals here this afternoon it’s Miles Michaels And Singi it’s unique these days but he’s more of a pitch to contact type of guy Yeah Boogie He doesn’t rely too heavily on the strikeout He knows he needs to miss barrels get some soft contact let the defense do work behind him And you think a guy like that can keep a good tempo don’t give hitters time to adjust or think they can move through a ball game and you look off they’re in line for a quality start We’ll see what he’s gotten this one Price Terra the leadoff batter as he looks at ball one gets under and pops it up Gorman and there’s one down Let’s take a look at the Brewers lineup This has been a good productive lineup so far this year Currently ranking among the better teams in terms of total hits and runs per game Well you know this lineup sees it as very important to put the ball in play Boo I mean this is an age where strikeouts are up so high and guys are swinging and missing going for the fences but if you can increase that contact rate you can be a dangerous club You get more guys on base and then all of a sudden when that big swing comes through you’re plating more runs So we’ll see if this pitcher can get some soft contact Let the defense work behind it keeps the atbat going with a foul ball One out Base is empty Inside just missed Really good take especially with two strikes [Music] Swing and a miss Struck him out Now two away and he’ll be beating himself up on the way back to the dugout Got a pitch to hit and just couldn’t get to it I think that slider really caught way more of the plate than it was supposed to And now it’s William Contrarus and first offering is fouled off Bounce to the left side and that goes foul swaying in a ball hammered left field going back onto the track and he makes the catch We played an inning no score Back here at American Family Field all set for the start of the inning And now the right fielder Alec Burlson Prester back to work That misses And that’s ball one [Music] [Applause] That one missed [Music] fouls one off Two and two swinging a ground ball dives and he can’t hang on No throw and they don’t get an out on the play 96 the third base Nolan Here’s Nolan Aronado Good defender He’s been inconsistent offensively And the first pitch misses for ball one Runner Here goes the runner Next offering is fouled back Nobody out Runner at first Just missed Hit on the ground Might be two Boots it Still able to fire over Too late And the runner is safe And the misplay costs him Man I was expecting 543 double play off the bat but I think he just tried to be a little too quick there especially when you think it’s a pretty routine ball to handle It’s really easy to think ahead to the transfer in the throw before you actually bring it into your glove First and second no outs Now up for St Louis Nolan Gorman Next offering is down low with a layoff that pitch down outside and it’s two and one Tough spot right here A couple runners on two ball count You can’t nibble but you have to execute and finish your pitch If you leave something out over the plate it’s going to bring in some runs And a two-1 on the way and misses inside Well knowing that this hitter’s got holes in his swing because he’s got so much power pitcher still can get a little too tight Afraid to make a mistake Next offering is in for a strike That ball is foul And the pressure is building [Applause] That’s a base hit And they’re happy to play station to station right here Base is loaded Nobody out I’m sure he feels really good about that one When you can turn a ball around at 107 off the bat it’s going to make you feel really good inside If he elevates that a little bit more it’s definitely out of here And now the catcher comes up to hit Pedro Pah Just missed and he takes one right on the black and the count even at one You need a strike out and you need a ball perhaps on the ground for a double play or get yourself a popup something But you got to make some pitches Oh this one high and deep way back there Pulls it in on the warning track Runners tagging from second and third Run scores easily and it’s one- nothing Oh it’s a nice job right there It’s always great when you can get on the scoreboard first Just good situational hitting to bring him home from third right there Now the batter now Victor Scott How many times have we seen an early at bat change the course of a game it happens every night in baseball and maybe it happens again here This one gets away as he can’t handle it behind the plate No movement on the base It’s ball one And that one hit to first slings to second back to first Not in time Not bad I promise you they’re guys that get a little bit faster when they can smell an RBI That was a possible inning ending double play Great hustle and he gets rewarded with the RBI because of it And here’s the St Louis leadoff man Mason Win grounded out his first time Runner on the go That’s in for a strike Safe at second And that was not close Well we all know this team is struggling right now and sometimes you just got to do something different to generate some offense A little more aggressive right there to put the pressure on the opponent We’ll see if it pays off on the scoreboard for this team [Music] Let’s do this Foul ball Scott on it Second with two down [Applause] Foul ball still 0 and two Ground ball up the middle That’s a base hit Round third headed for the plate He’ll score easily It’s an RBI single and they lead by three Well that certainly feels good when you can win the at bat after being down in the count up against it with two strikes right there Timing on the swing was good Able to shoot the ball up the middle Didn’t square it up as much as he probably would have liked but that’s a good approach paying off And now it’s Ivon Herrera Ball one low Already three runs across in the frame here in the top of the second Rudder takes off Pitch in for a strike Throw to second Save Chris his wheels were the difference maker on that play Just got in there Yeah with Statcast’s help we see his top speed on this stolen base And that’s a big number I mean man he really made his athleticism work for him on that one Way inside Ruer at second Two down [Music] [Applause] Line drive And that’s a base hit into center field Win around third He’ll score and it’s an RBI single and it’s 4 nothing Now batting the left Brendan So two down Brendan Donovan digs in now Struck out swinging his first time Runner on the move Pitch in for a strike Throw to second Out there And that ends the inning Well trying to get in scoring position but a great catch and throw to end the inning That’s the way to pick up the pitcher And we’re back And now the DA Jake Bower hitter Jake Bower First pitch and he just misses outside with a breaking ball Nasty back door slider There’s really nothing you can do with that if you swing at it So that’s a good take by him Next pitch a slider that misses outside Last couple of pitches breaking balls away I think he’s going to have to come firm inside to be able to open up that location if he wants to go back there later in this count And now three and one [Music] gets the outside corner with that one Full count [Applause] foul We’ll see another payoff pitch I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball Try to go again with a fast ball Slightly elevated He just having a hard time catching up on the ground to third Aronado to first in time and quickly one away to second The first baseman Reese Hoskins Reese Hoskins to the plate Not even close there And that is ball one And there’s a ball Lifted in the air right center field Scott on his way over He makes the grab and there’s two away That exists The right fielder Two down Base is empty Up now for Milwaukee S Freelick There’s the strike and that one fouled off Two down to ball That’s down spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another and he hits a ground ball right side handles throws to first and that is the inning Nothing doing here this half We head on now to the top of the third It’s the Cardinals four and the Brewers nothing Top half of the third inning Here’s the left fielder Brendan Donovan Brendan Donovan on the ground right side Fires over to first and one away in the top of the third The batter the first baseman Wilson Cadras Wilson Contrus now up to the plate Fly to left his first time Brewers Here we go Gets the slider in there for a strike [Applause] Off the plate inside And one and one [Music] swings through that one for strike two Threw that fast ball right by him Slightly elevated That’s a confidence boost for this guy out there on the mound See if he continues to climb the ladder Swing and a miss Struck him out on a slider and there’s two gone Wow Just great bite to that slider Broke hard out of the zone and he just couldn’t hold up the swing You know as a hitter that pitch is really hard to take and there’s just not much you can do with it You know that but you don’t want to get rung up by the umpire Over to first They don’t come much closer than that Bang bang play to end the inning One two three go to Cardinals but they lead it four to nothing And welcome back to the ballpark Here’s a speed throw Isaac Collins Collins And the first pitch misses for ball one 10 Swing and a hard hit Liner up the middle and a base hit Solo runner aboard to start the inning batting it The third baseman Caitlyn Here’s the third base Fast ball is outside That one drifts inside This is one of those situations the infielders have to pre-plan and understand that the ball’s got to be hit extremely hard right at them if they’re going to have a chance to go for a double play Come on Cut on and lifted in the air Burlson and out number one on the grab Batting night the shortstop Joseph Ortiz Joseph Ortiz up now for the Brewers Swinging a foul Pushed off to the right and it’s fouled away And the 02 and that one is inside ball one Close pitch there And he’s kind of wondering where it missed You know getting a feel for each umpire strike zone is something that pitchers and hitters really have to think about and work on from game to game and sometimes from at bat to at bat Next offering way off the plate Helpful man at first One away Recognize that change up right out of the hand Just spit on it on the ground to short Could be two The throw to second is offline Well every double play turn starts with getting one And even though these players work on these plays during batting practice over and over again sometimes at game speed you can still mess it up Could have been two outs Instead they get nothing Back to the top of the Milwaukee order This is Bryce Terra 0 for one with a fly out to the right side Offbalance feed There’s one double play What a twin killing to end the inning A hit and an error in the inning but they fail to score Three innings complete It’s the Cardinals four and the Brewers nothing Out of the forest and now Nolan Aronado Nolan Aronado in there at the knees You know these Cardinals doing a good job of putting the ball into play and that makes things more challenging on the defensive side And here’s a stat for you They’re making contact with more than 85% of the pitches that they’re swinging at It’s pretty special stuff Not so good if you’re out there on the mount Not a bad slider by any means It was down and away but an even better job to spoil that thing And he let it travel Didn’t try to hook it Man that’s a really good approach Man at first nobody out Here’s Nolan Gorman That’s in there And that’s strike one 01’s the count Gorman in his third season 24 years old a former first round pick back in 2018 That’s a slider for a strike Meanwhile activity in the bullpen Number 39 preparing to come on if needed Hall the lefty warming up as well [Music] That’s inside Fouls it off Still one and two Rudder at first with no outs here Goes down looking Now batting Pedro P Next up for the Cardinals Outside low ball one and that’s in there at the knees That’s a great take right there Even though it’s a strike with the situation runner on first base you want to keep the ball off the ground and you swing at that pitch most likely you roll into a double play Aronado over at first with one away They tried to get him to chase on a slider down and away Come on Foul ball Another 2-2 upcoming [Laughter] Just misses the mark outside the zone And a pop off right side foul territory Has room and he makes the catch now the center of people Victor Scott Victor Scott next up for the Cardinals This guy’s just a tremendously talented center fielder Gold glove caliber type out there Offensively he can do some things but you know also has some streakiness as well I think the key just trying to find a way for him to be consistent day in and day out You know he saves runs in the outfield so that’s going to buy him more time to work things out at the dish And now two nothing Three ball in the dirt And there’s the automatic [Music] [Applause] Great RBI spot here Just got to stay focused on the pitch The runner will be in motion so something in the gap should definitely score him To the right side He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it So one left for the Cardinals but they’re in front four nothing Back here in Milwaukee Bottom of the fourth And now the center fielder Jackson Chio check swing called strike 0 and one inside One and one and that’s in the dirt One strike That one misses And that’s ball three Expect for that guy to come right at you with a fast ball something in the zone because he does not want to allow the leadoff walk That one fouled off Swinging a highf fly ball out there towards left field Donovan sizes this one up Can’t get there This one lands Fouled fouled off and they’ll do it again Well they gave up on that pitch early and it ended up staying in the zone I’m sure he’s kicking himself and would like that pitch again That’s foul off to the right side keeps the AB going Five foul balls in a row I have no idea what that feels like but you got to love this battle Just wondering who’s going to blink first swing and a miss and he struck him out He didn’t make it easy for him on the mound but they still get the strike out Next for Milwaukee William Contrarus fly to left his first time Little bit low Base is empty one away We’re here in the bottom of the fourth This one popped up Foul ground first base side Contras under it and he’s got it And there’s two down The designated hitter number nine Jake Two out Space is empty Now here’s Jake Bowers Milwaukee And that’s outside And it’s one and0 Hammered down the right side but foul Two out Space is empty That’s too low and a count Two and one Top of the zone for a called strike Two balls two strikes [Music] That’s hard hit in a line What a play in right field That is the inning Brewers go down quietly They trail it here 4 nothing now pitching from So the Brewers bring on a new pitcher from the pen number 39 coming on to face a righty here And he’s been fantastic against him this year His numbers in those matchups are very good And the batter will be the short stop Mason Win Mason win First pitch just misses You know these cards really impressing me with the quality of their at bats in this one It’s been fun getting a chance to see him go to work It looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early get him out of the game before he settles in So I’d say mission accomplished And he takes a strike There’s the strike That one hit to right and that’s a fair ball Makes the turn and heads for second And he greets the new arm from the bullpen with a double Couple of hits in a row for him here recogniz the break on that pitch early and that allowed him to keep his front shoulder in You know it’s easy to bail on those front door breaking balls but a great job right there of letting it travel then unloading a nice balance swing And up next for St Louis Ivon Herrera That one the other way Fair ball coming home He will score Safe And that’s his third hit Seeing some good swings from him right now with consecutive extra base hits Anytime you rip a line drive the other way you feel really good about what you did at the plate You trusted your hands You let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it That’s great work right there And stepping in for the Cardinals Brendan Donovan And that is downstairs One and0 [Applause] And that drops in for a strike [Applause] Gets him to chase after that one One ball two strikes [Applause] fights that one away Still one and two Y’all this is a good time to step out of the box take a deep breath reset Couple of change ups Probably won’t see another one here into center Chio long run on his horse Brings it in with a nice running grab One down That’s just a really nice catch on the run right there He saved extra bases for sure If the pitcher’s his friend he’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch Here comes Wilson Contreres [Applause] Counts one and0 in the dirt Perr over at second One down [Applause] swing and a ball lined out towards center Churio makes the grab Two down So up next Alec Burlson One for two Burlson [Applause] All one squirts away a little bit Well done behind the dish Rudder at second Two down and we’re in the top of the fifth Two and0 This one in the dirt [Applause] Here’s a two That one pushed to the left and fouled [Applause] man at second in for a strike and the count is two and two [Applause] Just off the outside edge in the air out towards left center And that’ll do it But a run will score in the inning on this RBI double And the lead is now 5 nothing Ready to go for the last half of the inning And it’s Reese Hoskins up to the dish Hoskins Nicholas back to work Hoskins pushes a foul Well these Brewers to put it bluntly need to put together more competitive at bats and I don’t think they’ve lived up to their own expectations at the plate They really haven’t worked many deep counts or long at bats And that’s fine if you’re having a lot of success but at this point I think it’s time to make an adjustment That was a good hard fast ball with some nice ride up in the zone right there hitter looked like he was on it but I think that velocity at the end just beat him instead of a line drive or something hit deep It’s a pop up and an easy out for the defense That one to first steps on first for the out He’s been going after these guys consistently and as a result he’s been able to keep his pitch count low throwing the ball very well right now Next for the Brewers Isaac Collins One for one with a single so far And that gets the top of the zone for a strike He’s gotten into a really good rhythm Sat down seven in a row He just wants to get the baseball and deliver it as quickly as possible Keep the momentum going Right side Burlson sizing this one up Brings it in and the inning is over Back here at American Family Field all set for the top of the sixth Here’s Nolan Aronado And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike Activity in the bullpen Jared Kanig the southpaw is throwing and getting that sinker dialed in Zestrrisy warming up as well Next offering is in for a strike Out to short Ortiz slings it across and they get Aronado for the out Now batting second baseman Nolan Gorman Next to hit Nolan Gorman Come on Brewers Hard hit left side Whips it across Two quick outs to open the top of the six Now batting catcher Pedro Pah Two down base is empty Pedro Pahes next up for the Cardinals [Music] That one’s in there 0 and one 0 and one [Music] on the ground and it goes just fouled Two down nobody on and we’re the top half of the sixth That one way outside and the count is one and two That’s a ball Two two Good eye in that spot Good job to fight that one off Swinging a foul ball at the plate They’ll do it again Eighth pitch of the at coming up Three and two The pitch is outside at ball four It wasn’t easy but he earned that walk after a long at bat Victor two outs runner at first Victor Scott now at the plate Brewers Ball one there Ground ball right side and that chance handled off balance in time and that is the inning So it’s no runs on no hits no errors and one left on base 891 scheduled in the bottom of the sixth It’s the Cardinals five and the Brewers nothing And we’re back Bottom of the sixth inning up now for Milwaukee number 21 Foul ball there Now a drag bun third base side and foul ball ripped on the ground to second Gorman throws on to first Leadoff man retired in the six The batter number three shortstop Joseph Ortiz Joseph Ortiz up now for the Brewers 0 for one He hit into a fielder’s choice his first time Pitch misses inside Ball one He’s controlling things out there on the mound not messing around at all He’s been in attack mode since the very start And there’s the strike Instead of letting the hitter get his arms extended tied him up a little bit Slightly up slightly in The short stop takes the ball This one in the air Gorman and makes the grab Two down The batter number two second baseman Rice Back to the top of the lineup Now a chance for Bryce Terra Hole for two in this one First pitch and that’s in for a strike Hole one’s the count Slice the other way That’s a base hit And that extends the inning There we go Only two hits allowed so far tonight So I don’t think that one will disrupt his momentum all that much You know he’s really been on top of his game commanding his pitches all night long So a man at first Jackson Chorio up now for the Brewers right through there for a strike Two outs Tap foul at the plate That’s off the inside corner Going to count one and two He’s great hitting the ball the other way and that pitch did a good job to straighten him up a bit Mission accomplished That one misses and that’s ball two That one missing inside He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked Terra the runner at first with two gone Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again Battling here as he fouls it away Now one out to right Burlson has a beat on it Makes the grab and that is that Brewer strand one Still looking at that five nothing deficit And welcome back to the ballpark And now Mason win win [Music] That clips the zone Strike one on the ground to the left and it stays fair Now batting So man aboard Here’s the Cardinal team Ivon Herrera in the air left field Collins on the move to the alley Corrals it and there’s one down Now batting left fielder Brendan Donovan Now the left fielder Brendan Donovan 0 for three A fly out a ground out and a strike out and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter Late swing fouled to the left Here’s the O2 and ball one Brewers And that one misses up and in It’s two and two [Music] Woody killer up next for the Cardinals Here’s Contras now 0 for three in this one Milwaukee Yeah that’s too high If he’s going to steal second you want him to go early in the count That way he’s not a distraction to the hitter at the plate Go ahead and get it out of the way so the hitter can focus on the pitch And that’s in for a strike Two balls Squirts away a little bit [Music] And that misses Now three and one [Music] And there’s the strike We got full count And they’ll do it again Let’s go Swing and a ball drilled in the air towards right center field Chorio makes the grab on the run So one hit is all they get midway in inning number seven And it’s time to stretch It’s the Cardinals five and the Brewers nothing Back here in Milwaukee set for the last half of the seventh And here’s the catcher William Contrus Close one Doesn’t get the call And that is ball one Movement in the bullpen for the Cardinals Sunny Gray getting ready to go Romero a lefthander also throwing Next offering is in for a strike In this situation you expect the batters to be a little more patient possibly take until they get a strike With that you don’t want to miss your opportunity to get ahead early in the count He didn’t Right there That one down the line and that’s just fouled Swinging at a line drive That’s a base hit into center field Man aboard on the leadoff single Manager out of the dugout now And it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound Miles Michaelis will depart Great effort out of him as he exits in line for the win We’ll tell you about the new pitcher when we get back Now pitching now on the bump Jojo Romero Walks have certainly been an issue for him this season so we’ll see what kind of command he has man at first And next is the designated hitter Jake Bowers And he swings and misses and it’s nothing at one If you’re going to get something going this is the time to do it You get the leadoff man on Everybody’s got to look over the shoulder and say “I’m just going to keep the line moving.” Don’t try to do too much [Music] pitch misses and it’s one and two Contrarus gets his lead at first with nobody out Let’s go That one misses And now two balls and two strikes Had a good eye there Left field Donovan right there to make the grab And there’s one down The first baseman number 12 Reese Hoskins And here is Hoskins Romero goes 5′ 11 in 215 lbs and he was drafted in the fourth round back in 2016 And that’s in there for a strike Little slider that finds Lamar Well he had a pretty good look at that pitch and not sure exactly what tied him up there Couldn’t pull the trigger And perhaps the best pitch you’ll see in this at bat to hit Swing and a ball lifted in the air Shallow right field Makes the catch and there are two outs Man Boo I love watching an outfielder take on the wall to make that play And it’s a lot easier to watch from up here because that can be painful in the end You know the ball’s coming up on you quickly so you have to maintain concentration and able to make that catch and hold on to it after contact Lifted in the air down the left side And that’s a foul ball [Applause] in the air left field down the line and that will drop foul The Redbirds leading by five here in the bottom of the seventh Foul ball left side He’ll see another One ball two strikes in the dirt Brewers And that’s downstairs And it’s two and two He’s trying to stay down in the zone but the hitter just will not chase Now back in a two- two count He’s going to have to go to something else to get him out And a swing at a line drive at a right field Nabs it and that’s the inning Starting to run out of outs as they’re unable to chip away Eighth inning coming up it’s the Cardinals five and the Brewers nothing Now pitching Welcome back And a new arm on the mound to start the eight Jared Kanig And one thing on him he’s been really good this season at keeping the ball in the park Not an easy guy to take deep So digging in Alec Burlson one for three Burlson at 96 That pitch is in for a strike Well that’s really the money spot down and away If you can locate that consistently it’s going to be real tough for hitters to square that up That’s what you love to see relievers do coming out of that bullpen Next offering upstairs [Music] The one-1 is fouled off That one outside and it’s two and two Fights it off He’ll see another up the middle and that one handled Jump throw It’s there and that’s a great play [Applause] Now batting third baseman Nolan Aronado Here’s Nolan Aronado That one’s in there 0 and one [Applause] One down Base is empty Movement in the bullpen Nick Mirs the hardthrowing righty is up and loosening [Music] line drive gets down Base hit Hitting is really easy for some guys One thing that I can see already his bat stays in the zone on plane for an extended period of time And guys like that they have a high contact rate and they have more barrels because of that bat being on plane And even when you don’t get it great it’s still hit hard enough to dunk something in like that in front of the center fielder [Music] out towards right center field Chorio sizes this one up hauls it in for the out That’s out number two Now batting the catcher Pedro Pahes So a man aboard Pedro Pahes Next up for the Cardinals Right through there for a strike [Applause] And a bat like this is almost over as it begins In this situation you have no idea what the next pitch is going to be You just got to hope that you can make contact [Applause] Come on Down to the dirt swing and a miss Contrus down to first with it That completes the strikeout Inning over The Cards leave one but they hold a five nothing lead Back now New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth Sunny Gray And you know bullpen guys can struggle sometimes when they’re called upon with big leads because it just doesn’t have the same intensity as a tight game So we’ll see how sharp he is Your mental toughness matters in situations like this as well Collins up to the plate for the third time as he looks at one down low Now a fly ball to right center Burlson sizing this one up and he makes the catch And there’s one down Up next for the Brewers the third base First pitch misses Meanwhile activity in the bullpen Andre Palante the young right-hander up and throwing Base is empty One away here in the bottom half of the eighth inning There’s the strike I got a ball One strike That’s in there Now one and two Oh when you can throw that big curve on the inside part of the plate very difficult pitch for the hitter to get on plane with You can have a lot of success if you can pitch in that location And he couldn’t hold back He’s rung up on strikes So the bullpen doing a nice job backing up the effort from their starter Yeah we’ve seen some pretty excellent pitching out of this staff so far I mean they’ve come in ready to do their job and get outs They’ve been pretty tough to get to in this one And first off is fouled off Two down Nobody on Swinging a foul back That’s out of play Out there to center and that will fall and that keeps the inning alive Now batting the second base Next for Milwaukee Bryce Tang Go [Applause] First offering and it just misses [Applause] Balls outside Oh he’s really working him away this at bat Sometimes take a little bit off velocity try to get a roll over something on the ground Stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield That one finds the zone now Two balls in a strike One strike Ortiz leads off first with two down to the inning In the air right field and it looks like trouble coming home He’ll score easily back to back base hits that pretty much split the zone down the middle And those are the ones where you got to make them pay [Applause] So runner at second two down Next for the Brewers Jackson Chorio And the first pitch misses for ball one And another ball When the skipper calls down to the bullpen he’s expecting the guy to come in and get outs So far not getting what he was hoping for And that is in for a strike And it’s two and one Two outs and one in scoring position [Applause] Swing and a miss Two balls two strikes Swanging a ball Lifted in the air right field He just missed it Burlson makes the play and that’ll do it Runscoring double for the Brewers this inning It’s now a 51 ball game It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show We’re back It’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the mound Nick Miring Well you see the RA very solid That doesn’t always tell you the whole story but he’s been really good so far this year And now Victor Scott the center fielder number 11 Victor Scott [Applause] And that one is in the dirt Ball one Action in the pen down there DL Hall the young lefty looks to be getting himself ready [Applause] And the one [Applause] fought off foul [Applause] [Music] Foul ball Still a one and two count [Applause] That’s down and in [Applause] And it remains two and two [Applause] Five foul balls in this at bat so far And these two are going headto head You can see the crowd They’re starting to get into it a little bit more and more each pitch Even though there hasn’t been a ball in play yet looking for the K Well just couldn’t pull the trigger on the fast right there And I don’t think he was taking it thinking it might be a cold ball or anything I just think he was flat out frozen Did not expect that location in my opinion [Applause] Win stands in now and watches strike one Oh and one [Applause] [Music] that misses the zone and the count is one and one [Applause] One down Base is empty Oh that’s it [Applause] Center field Chorio on the move Squeezes it Two down Now batting designated hitter Ivon Ivon Herrera Next up for the Cardinals No matter what you’re playing this kind of rival to take your game to another level [Applause] A rope into right and that’s a base hit Joey gets on base and keeps it going Now batting left fielder Brendan Brendan Donovan next up for the Cardinals [Applause] First pitch doesn’t find the zone All one No strikes [Applause] Oh that’s off the plate [Applause] Pulled hard but it’s a foul ball [Music] [Applause] Swinging a foul straight back [Applause] [Music] That one missed 3-2 two out Runner on first Lot of movement in the infield Hitters got to stay focused on the pitch [Applause] So now two on and two outs Not what he wanted to do right there Boo That keeps this inning alive Puts a runner in the scoring position and a chance for this offense to add on to their lead First and second two outs And up to hit is Wilson Contrarus Right through there for a strike There it was A high velocity fastball in the zone I think a little frustration from walking the previous hitter He’s got good stuff Pitch inside the zone and trust it [Applause] And one swag Get a popup foul out of play off to the right side That’ll find the stands [Applause] And that’s a strikeout Ed Drummond says he won around So they strand a pair Heart of the order 345 will get their shot in the bottom of the ninth It’s the Cardinals five and the Brewers won So bottom of the ninth here’s the catcher William Contras Williams Gray back to work just off the outside edge and it’s one and0 [Applause] There’s the strike of the knees [Applause] swing and a ground ball and that one gets through into center field and the leadoff man aboard Here’s the Brewers DH Jake Bowers That’s inside One and0 Well the leadoff man gets on You want to minimize the threat by playing sound defense Hopefully the pitcher can get a ball on the ground and they can roll him up for two [Applause] Liner snagged at first Race to the bag but he’s safe Good job to avoid the double play Well baseball can be cruel can’t it i mean sometimes it gives and sometimes it takes away He did everything right on that swing but he’s got nothing to show the first base And the batter now is Reese Hoskins [Applause] Yeah there’s the strike [Music] [Applause] Hoskins pushes a foul [Applause] And one and two [Applause] double play ball to second Glove flip for one That’s a double play The ball game is over A little sigh of relief for the pitcher there ending the ball game with a nice double play You always love when you can get two for one especially when it wraps up the ball game Nice win for this team today 51 is how it ends for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show I’m John Shami Thanks for joining us
