🔴LIVE 🔴Washington Nationals vs Miami Marlins – June 13, 2025 | Envivo | MLB The Show 25

hello and welcome thanks for joining us the show has an NL East matchup it’s the Miami Marlins and the Washington Nationals first pitch coming at you right after the break your Washington Nationals just about to get underway and our pitcher in this game McKenzie Gore Chris his strikeout rate this year among the best all time he’s truly one of the elite strikeout pitchers in the league i mean strikeouts per nine off the charts so the opposing team they know they have their work cut out for them anytime they’re facing this guy or a guy like this that’s going to get the swings and misses pretty much in a class of his own when it comes to that category xavier Edwards gets a chance to hit here and a bunt towards third and that’s a foul ball [Music] a one down late that time and it’s strike two two strike next offering upstairs rarely will you see a pitcher just to waste a pitch like that the batter wasn’t even tempted to swing every pitch needs to have a purpose so that it can set up a following pitch to help you get that out and that’s way high now two and two two strikes swinging a ground ball and that’s just foul that wasn’t an easy pitch to hit it’s much easier to do damage against mistakes but that’s not what that pitch was inside almost got him straighten him up a little bit in the air right side nabs it and there’s one away and time now for the Marlins lineup getting guys across the plate not exactly a forte for them this year as their offense is in the bottom third of the league in runs scored boo it becomes extremely frustrating and then what happens is guys press especially in runc scoring opportunities and situations on top of that I mean you really make it harder on your pitcher he feels like he’s got to be perfect to go out there and win a ball game or at least to put the team in a position to win a ball game so they’ve got to figure out a way to relax get those runners across when they have them on and especially when they’re in scoring position to the right side and a foul ball right through there for a strike [Applause] and that misses two and two really good take especially with two strikes got him and there’s two down otto Lopez the next up for the Marlins and the pitch is outside ball one lopez measures 5′ 10 in hitting third in the lineup and he was born in the Dominican Republic two out space is empty two balls no strikes the count back to back breaking pitches away you get the feeling as a hitter that the pitcher is afraid of you that he doesn’t want to challenge you so I think the confidence level is raised right here come on let’s go on the ground and and foul ball [Music] that one hit to right nobody can get there and it’s a foul ball well they gave up on that pitch early and it ended up staying in the zone i’m sure he’s kicking himself and would like that pitch again outside low and now it’s three and two that one 95 to finish him off and the Marlins down quietly now it’ll be Washington’s turn it’s a scoreless ball game major League Baseball is on the show and we’re back starting on the mound in this one Sandy Alcantara and Singi we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots yeah he’s definitely had a struggle so far this year as evidenced by that inflated whip but he’s going to have to find a way to limit the base runners put his team in a position to win a ball game so we know he’s prepared we know this guy’s a competitor and we’ll watch how he works in this one bottom of the first here’s CJ Abrams to hit and ball one hey next offering is fouled back righty delivers keeps the bat going with a foul ball struck him out looking batting second james Wood digging in for the Nationals that one finds the zone and that’s strike one one out base is empty base hit that was smoke through the infield here’s Nathaniel Low good defender he’s been inconsistent offensively here swinging a foul straight back [Applause] the 02 one ball in the dirt [Applause] foul ball still a one and two count [Applause] there’s the ball [Applause] 32 man at first one away so here we go base runner at first could be running on the pitch he’s got good enough speed to steal the bag to get in scoring position even if it’s a swing and miss at the plate fires to second for one and that’s two so nothing in the Washington half of the first we’re scoreless through an inning at Nationals Park on the show back here in National Park all set for the start of the inning and now for the Marlins augustine Ramirez gore back to work not close with that one and that’s ball one and a big swing and a miss he can live up in the zone all game if hitters will chase it that’s just too much velocity hitters got to look down in the zone ball to strike bounding ball here rolls foul that one inside and the cow is two and two got some cut action to it velocity pretty good on that slider so far moving the ball around nicely and that skips in the dirt swing and this one’s bounced to the ground steps on first for the out batting fifth left fielder Kyle Sters so digging in Kyle Sters and first offering is fouled off no score here in the second that one to first bell steps on the bag two up two down in the top of the second first baseman Eric Wagaman eric Wagaman now at the plate just missed [Music] next pitch is inside two balls no strikes he never moved cuz he never had time to with that kind of velocity you’d prefer that pitcher work away liner picked on the hop at first he takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do her and one two three go the Marlins we’ll go to the bottom of the second no score bottom half of inning number two josh Bell at the plate now josh Bell [Applause] and that’s in for a strike one ball one boo our man Daryl Parker DP at home plate for this one pretty average size strike zone but the book on him is that it sort of moves around you can’t always count on how he’s going to call it from game to game that’s off the mark and it’s two and one yeah he’s one of those umpires that I have to see make his call on a borderline pitch before I start making my call like you said it’s not always predictable but it’s pretty fair for the most part i got three and two on the ground to the left and it stays fair now he turns and heads for second the throw in and he’s into scoring position with a leadoff double maybe a chance for our first run here oh a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle we saw the numbers coming into the ball game but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win so the go ahead run in scoring position and now it’s Luis Garcia in the dirt [Applause] [Applause] check swing did he go yes he did one in one ripped but it curls foul that one outside outside two balls two strikes [Applause] line drive caught that’ll drive you crazy as a hitter if you let it i mean he couldn’t have hit that ball more on the screws than he did and yet he’s got nothing to show for it hang with him i know the feeling alex Call digging in for the Nationals i just love watching Alcantra get ready for games boo he turns into a different person just usually cracking jokes and having a good time but start days are a different story that’s when things get serious for this guy pulls that one foul let’s go nuts here comes the 01 ground ball to the right side takes it to the bag steps on first and it’s out number two good fade and sinking action of that change up got that hitter to roll over robert Hassel the third robert Hassel the third digging in for the Nationals let’s go that’s in there it’s 0 and one well the key to his success is getting ahead early in the count he cannot afford to go deep in the counts doesn’t have a ton of swing and miss stuff so he’s going to have to work efficiently rudder at third two away fights that one away and the count remains 0 and two hard hit right side and that is that nationals leave one we’ll move to the third with no score and welcome back to the ballpark now at the plate Dane Meers gets the call strike one man i mean nice job just presenting it to be better than it actually was that one’s upstairs ball one i got a ball one strike so now one and two hey just threw that fast ball by him elevated and if you’re not looking up in that location very difficult to catch up to especially with that velocity that missed by a lot two balls two strikes the count swing and a miss strike came out and he’s registered three Ks in this one really love the pitch sequence right there i’m telling you what pitcher and catcher on the same page right now nick Forez the next up for the Marlins and the curve is down and in 10 here we go and that’s off the inside edge and the count is 2 and 0 that one missed well I would expect in this three- 0 count you’re taking all the way see if he’ll walk you on the corner for a strike and it’s three and one top of the third no score up the middle oh look at the stop from his backside nicely done for the What an acrobatic play right there knocks it down throws from the seat of his pants and just looks like he’s playing in the backyard he makes it look really easy down to third baseman Javier Senoha and that’s a little high [Music] foul ball [Music] that one the other way marlins set down in order nine straight retired here to start the game we’re tied nothing nothing back in Washington DC bottom of the inning and here is Karen Ruiz ruiz [Applause] check swing and he went and that is strike one oh and one [Applause] there’s the swing in a miss wow no fair right there i mean that slider didn’t move till the very last moment incredibly difficult to pick that up just kind of have to tip your cap on that pitch [Music] this one in the air senoha under it makes the grab one down batting ninth third baseman jose Tana here’s the third baseman jose Tenna swinging a drive deep right field that one’s back there and out of here that should put a jolt into this home crowd his first homer of the year and just like that they’re out in front it’s one- nothing chris we knew this moment was coming for him soon yep and it finally came we knew it was only a matter of time before he’s going to connect with one just like that just too good of a hitter at the plate with this pitcher’s velocity a change up is really a break for a hitter he got a BP fast ball didn’t move a whole lot and he absolutely tattooed it so the lineup flips over here for CJ Abrams now that one’s in there 0 and one [Applause] one out base is empty and a run in here in the last half of the third swing and a miss there’s that change up two strikes to a guy who’s already 0 for one with a punch out the only guy in the lineup with that strike out but you can’t get too relaxed you still got to make good pitches to get him out foul ball it stays nothing and two [Applause] the shorts stop takes a ball bounce to the right side throws the first in time it’s a good recovery though after giving up the home run not allowing it to stay in the head but going to work at the next hitter and a tough one at that up now for Washington james Wood one for one with a single so far this kid picked up in a trade a lot was offered and given to get him but he’s got a real high ceiling and that is cut on and miss strike one just not able to catch up to that velocity next offering miss is down and away one and one [Applause] so a foul ball makes it one and two you know this is a good time to step out of the box take a deep breath reset couple of change ups probably won’t see another one here swinging a ground ball up the middle handles throws to first and that is the inning one scores in the inning coming on this solo home run it’s now a one- nothing ball game you’re dialed into the show and we’re back onto the fourth and at the plate for Miami Xavier Edwards ground ball up the middle oh great stop from his knees the throw and very nicely done for the out well you can see right there he looks very comfortable going to the backhand nice diving stop gets up to complete the play that’ll fire the team up for sure and up next for Miami Jesus Sanchez he was a strikeout victim his first time and that drops in for a strike he’s pitching well but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes usually doesn’t work out for success but you can never predict baseball base is empty one away top half of inning number four smoked on the ground to second fires over to first and a couple of quick outs oh he’s doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball good execution and now for the Marlins otto Lopez swinging a foul back that’s out of play swing and a miss he was late strike two this guy’s pounding the zone hitters don’t have time to think in between pitches on the ground to first he takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it miami down in order still behind by a count of one to nothing bottom four nathaniel Low up washington center fielder nathaniel no let’s go and the first pitch misses for ball one you know these Nationals doing a great job Boo of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way and I’m seeing very patient at bats out of him he’s only given up one run but the starter pitch count is starting to get up there and that might be the best news yet for this offense this is off the inside and it’s three and0 you know sometimes all it takes is getting to the next arm before an offense does any damage and that might be the case today that one misses so a lead off walk definitely lost the handle during that sequence four pitches for the walk and that last one didn’t even threaten the zone catcher might want to go talk to him yeah generally second third time through the lineup you want to be able to lean on those secondary pitches and command them looks like he’s doing a nice job of it ground ball to first could be two to second pulls him off the bag the throw is late and the defense comes away with nothing a potential double play ball hits a first is probably the toughest one to execute cleanly that first baseman he’s got a very tough throwing lane to deal with because of the runner headed to second base and a lot of times guys try to throw over or around the runner which can really mess up a throw like that still definitely an error though next to hit for the Nats Luis Garcia i’m curious how he decides to attack on the mound this guy at the plate has been great hitting under pressure this year counts one and0 next offering is in for a strike i got one ball one strike [Music] and a breaking ball drops in for a strike one ball first and second no outs we’re here in the bottom of the fourth and now the count is even two two [Applause] swing and a ball drilled in the air towards right center field meyers tracks it down for the out those can be pretty fun as an outfielder got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down oh nothing better than that you feel like a wide receiver playing football next to hit Alex call 0 for one so far [Music] slides for the stop the feed for one to first not in time great effort there well Boo as an infielder you have to be ready for anything in that spot it required going to the ground getting a little dirty and making a strong throw for the outs and now for Washington Hassel the third he’s over for one this one chopped on the ground but foul runners on first and third two away that clips the corner foul ball still 0 and two [Music] ball one there recognize that change up right out of the hand just spit on it yeah the one two misses to even the count [Music] in the air left field stard pulls it down and that is that so the Nets leave a pair but they still lead it one- nothing back here in Nationals Park now it’s the DH Augustine Ramirez gore back to work and takes low for ball one you know these Marlins just aren’t putting together very many good at bats in this one we’re in the back half of the game and they’re still searching for a base runner he’s been great out there on the mound no doubt but it’s also been a disappointing performance at the plate to this point swing and that ball smashed out of the line and it goes just foul to 2-1 swinging a foul out of play and as we get deeper it’s not going to get any easier here these at bats are going to feel more and more desperate with every out the rest of the way and that’s outside that one hammered center field back there and out of here he circles the bases his ninth homer of the year it’s 1-1 that one just sounded different and it might have been the loudest moment yet man my ears are ringing i could feel that swing from the booth knew what pitch he wanted to hit spent on some other pitches in this at bat was very patient and it paid off kyle Sters the next up for the Marlins grounded out his first time in for a strike and it’s 0 and One [Music] and he chases that one below the zone bennett really sells the change up with that arm action that’s down and in nobody on nobody out with a run in and we’re in the top of the fifth and he’s swinging a miss he’s notched four strikeouts now well we see it a lot more these days than we ever did when I played but a slider in the ’90s still catches your attention even if you’re sitting on the pitch good luck recognizing that tight spin and adjusting to the late break eric Wagaman the next up for the Marlins 0 for one he grounded out in his first at bat [Applause] pitch misses and that is ball one [Applause] yeah that’s fouled off one down base is empty and that one fouled off and a good eye there good slider down and in can be so hard to get on plane with you’re better off taking that pitch [Applause] strike three and that’s two in a row he’s locked in at the plate when he’s using the whole field he was out in front there just needs to let the ball travel a little more and his timing will be back on track good pitch for the strike out and at the plate for Miami Dane Meyers 0 for one he struck out swinging last time [Applause] that one finds the zone strike one [Applause] check swing he went too far and it’s a strike no balls two strikes [Applause] [Applause] fans another and that’s three straight strikeouts just one hit in the inning but it was a big one right here as it ties the ball game all even at one a piece back after this on the show we head to the bottom of the fifth and it’s the catcher for the Nationals Karu [Music] first offering and it just misses well these gnats finding ways to get on base but they still need help driving them home they’ve had their chances with runners in scoring position but nobody’s been able to deliver a big hit in those situations right side edwards tosses to first and the lead off man set down in their half of the third baseman Josea jose Tenna digging in for the Nationals he’s already homerred here in this one and you got to give some credit to the other side as well they’ve been able to get out of a few tough jams but frustration is mounting for this offense no doubt called strike a sinker at the bottom of the zone he goes down looking now batting short stop back to the top of the lineup and the batter will be the shorts stop cj Abrams for two in this one well on the mound very efficient able to produce an outcome it seems like within the third or fourth pitch of just about every at bat and that misses one and0 and another ball good spot there but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone what do you think now ripped on a line to center Meyers makes the play and the inning is over three up three down for Washington score remains deadlocked at one all right we go to the top half of inning number six here’s the catcher Nick Forez on the ground to third over to first one up one down so up next Javier Senoha rolled out to second in his first at bat breaking ball through there for a strike this game has been so tight feels like the next team to score will win it [Music] let’s go DC next offering is in for a strike well we call that keyholeing even though it’s right there and looks pretty good if he doesn’t love it he’s not going to swing that early in the count way inside gets out of the way [Applause] swings throw it and that’s a strike out well that’s a curve ball that people like to describe as a hammer or Uncle Charlie and you can see why it’s not a looping slow curve he throws it hard and it gets plenty of bite on the end so the batting order turns over and up next for Miami Xavier Edwards and that’s in there for strike one that one lifted to left wood makes the grab and that’s the inning no runs no hits no errors 234 do up in the home half of the six all tied 1-1 bottom of the six up now for Washington james Woodielder James Wood fly ball center field meyers hauls it in for the one up one down now batting the center fielder so digging in Nathaniel Low let’s go [Applause] swing and a tapper that rolls foul pretty good pitch there to take a rip at he wants to get his arms extended he likes the ball away from him a little bit just not able to square it up swing and a ball popped in the air that one gets down for a hit so they get a man aboard with a one out single now I don’t know how he’s able to shoot that pitch the other way and still put something on it that pitch was inside and he let it get really deep so pretty incredible hands to fight it off and still get good wood on it here’s Josh Bell one for two outside low ball one with a go-ahead run at first here in the bottom of the sixth [Applause] and that is out of play ball to strike the pitch next offering is outside [Applause] right through there for a strike [Applause] in the dirt but kept close no advance good job behind the dish [Applause] on this count runner not known for his speed but I think you got to put him in motion try to avoid a double play here boo swinging a ground ball and it’s just fouled that was close [Applause] lifted in the air left field pretty well struck two away now now batting second baseman Luis Garcia now a chance for Luis Garcia [Applause] and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter signs of activity in the pen for the Marlins kade Gibson getting ready to go backer also getting ready and that’s downstairs one and one low leads off first with two down to the inning a change up missing and a count two and one and that one missing low first pitch strike from the pitcher but then no panic at all by the hitter very patient showing good discipline now he’s in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 count and ball four two aboard oh that could be a big walk in this ball game moves the go ahead run into scoring position so some pressure pitches coming up in this next AB now the Marlins manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen sandy Alcantur won’t go any further and it’s a tie ball game as he heads for the dugout back with a new arm after a quick break now pitching they turn things over to the south ball Anthony Veneziano well he’s struggled quite a bit so this is another opportunity to get on the right track he’s given up more than one hit per any pitch so far this season alex Call digging in for the Nationals call really thriving with the bat this season here at home [Applause] first offering misses badly for ball one [Applause] and that’s in for a strike well that’s really the money spot down and away if you can locate that consistently it’s going to be real tough for hitters to square that up that’s what you love to see relievers do coming out of that bullpen two on two outs and that one fouled off [Applause] spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another two outs couple of base runners at first and second that one not close and it’s two and two [Applause] [Music] i wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball try to go again with a fast ball slightly elevated he just having a hard time catching on [Music] [Applause] and he grounds one to the right side edwards throws to first in time that’s the third out inning over nice work from the Miami pen there we’re through six full all tied 1-1 and welcome back to the ballpark now it’s the right fielder Jesus Sanchez swing and a ground ball and that one gets through into center field a leadoff single and the go-ahead run is aboard now batting short stop Otto Lopez otto Lopez the next up for the Marlins [Applause] lays down a bunt to the right side and that’s a foul ball timing issues can snowball quickly and that’s what we’re witnessing here this lineup’s inability to lock on to the pitcher’s delivery is causing a few awkward swings puts a bunt down in plenty of time to first and that’s an out on the sacrifice that’s a good piece of hitting right there the job was to move the runner up and give your team a chance to score the go-ahead run that’s exactly what happened so you better believe your teammates are happy with you after that at bat so the go-ahead run in scoring position now here is Augustinine Ramirez he’s already homered in this game [Applause] and there’s the strike meanwhile activity in the bullpen jose a Ferrer the left-hander up and throwing chafing getting loose as well the one on the corner for a strike that curve ball has been a big pitch for him today he’s been able to get ahead in the count with it he’s also been able to use it to put guys away that’s down and in a slider missed one ball two strikes down [Applause] swing and a pop off in foul ground he’s under it calls it in two away now batting left fielder Kyle Scowers now the left fielder Kyle Sters and the first pitch misses for ball one and that’s outside pretty easy to give up on that pitch right there started on the edge of the plate with the spin you know it’s going to finish well off the plate two and0 to Cal here it comes cut on and lifted in the air and it drops in coming home he’ll score it’s an RBI single and they take the lead in the seventh always feels amazing getting a job done when the team needs you to come through it’s just bigger than your own individual stats tried to get inside on him but he was ready for it just kept his hands in and turned on the pitch quick bat through the zone manager out of the dugout now and it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound mckenzie Gore done for the night and he was a tough nut to crack pretty stingy from start to finish back with a new arm after a quick break now pitching on the mound for the Nationals Zack Brixie pretty tight game so they’re looking for quality pitches out of him right here got to do his best to keep the score right where it is two outs runner on first and here’s the first baseman Eric Wagaban he was late there strike one one’s the count sters off of first with two away [Applause] next pitch is outside fast ball for a strike one ball two battling here as he fouls it away [Applause] two balls two strikes next pitch way upstairs 3-2 two out runner on first lot of movement in the infield hitters got to stay focused on the pitch [Applause] gets a piece and stays alive good battle here about to be the eighth pitch of the at bat foul ball and it remains a full count [Applause] ripped to right and he makes the catch and that’ll do it so one run in the inning on this base hit and it’s now a two-1 ball game it’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show now pitching for we’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh Kane Gibson and compared to a lot of other relievers strikeouts have not been a big weapon for him this year so the defense should be active well one-run game and now the right fielder Robert Hassel the third robert Hassel the third and he takes one right on the black one just missed [Applause] that’s off the mark and that’s ball two [Applause] swing and a fly ball well struck left field makes the grab and there’s one away now batting the catcher Kbert Ruiz and now it’s Keert Ruiz a switch hitter batting right [Applause] in there and it’s 0 and one that was just paint on the first pitch fast ball that one misses at one and one [Applause] in the air right field dives but it falls and now it looks like extra bases they’re still chasing it as he rounds second in with a one out triple as that puts the tying run at third well that was an important at bat in this game so a great job there stepping up to the challenge fast ball off the plate a little bit but a really nice job of going with it punched it to the opposite field for that knock now a huge bat in this game coming up and now Jose Tenna [Applause] swang and a miss there’s that change up don’t be surprised to ball on the ground to the corners that they come home with the baseball instead of going to first base and now one in the air right field he won’t get there and that should be extra bases runner from third in to score and this game is tied in the seventh such great concentration everybody on their feet knowing that you can come through with a good swing and there he doesn’t try to do too much [Applause] cj Abrams digging in for the Nationals 0 for three in this one got one close rule to ball and that’s ball one [Music] man at second the shorts stop takes the ball homeplayed umpires trying to tighten things up a little bit [Applause] and a foul ball makes the count two and one one out the go-ahead run is at second [Applause] rips that one center field hauls it in for the out up next for the Nationals left fielder James Wood next to hit for the Nats James Wood one for three [Applause] splits the plate that’s strike one and I know you want to be patient as a hitter but you got to be ready to jump on the first thing straight and he got one right there but left the bat on his shoulder this one in the air he’s got it and the inning is over one for the Nationals on this RBI double and we’re deadlocked now at two apiece welcome back and a new arm on the mound to start the eighth jos a Ferrer should be a good first match up for him here he’s been doing a great job against right-handed bats so far this season they’ve had a lot of trouble squaring him up [Applause] meyers the next to hit takes low for a ball activity in the Washington bullpen kyle Finn again the hardthrowing righty is up and loosening [Music] there’s the strike ripped to third and caught it’s never fun going back to the dugout after hitting a line drive that finds a glove but you will get some high fives you know when you make great contact you feel like you’ve done everything right but in this game of baseball not everything is in your control forz in the box now takes strike one all tied up and we’re in the top of the eighth on the ground to third throws across the diamond and a couple of quick outs well there’s a lot riding on that at bat right there nice job of the pitcher to bear down make the pitch get the ground ball excellent piece of work and now Javier Senoha [Music] and that’s in for a strike one next offering down in the dirt yeah come on that’s inside xavier Edwards in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here [Applause] was the pitch 3-1 you want to be really aggressive on the fast ball [Applause] swing and a miss and a change up in the dirt that completes the strike out and that’ll do it back in Washington DC ready to go for the last half of the inning and now up for Washington Nathaniel Low [Applause] gibson back to work that one missing inside he’s great hitting the ball the other way and that pitch did a good job to straighten him up a bit mission accomplished fouled off he was late [Music] [Applause] swinging a miss at a slider that pitch started in and ended up on the outside edge just changing planes and very difficult ah that hit him and the leadoff man is aboard to start the inning making a move at first on a pinch run Jacob Young number 30 Jacob Young no outs runner at first and now the switch hitting first baseman Josh Bell [Applause] outside low and it’s one and0 way to lay off that pitch down [Applause] [Music] [Applause] chris with that distraction and a speedy guy at first he’s in a favorable hitter’s count well if nothing else I mean this is a great spot for a hitter to be in elise Garcia in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here the go-ahead run aboard at first nobody out [Music] and there’s ball four and the two outs the go-ahead run is at second base he did not take the bat off his shoulder the entire bat here comes the skipper and we’re going to see a pitching change in this spot kane Gibson gives way and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base back with a new pitcher after this now pitching for here’s a new pitcher from the pen Ler well he’s been excellent against left-handed hitters this year and that’s his first test this looks like a good move to the pin in terms of the matchup substitution now at first base pench running here Ahmed Rosario amed luis Garcia digging in for the Nationals [Applause] pitch misses there ball one well this is a critical spot for both the pitcher and the hitter you can learn a lot about a guy by how he handles these pressure situations [Applause] good spot for the hitter definitely has the advantage in this count with runners on look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch with the go-ahead run standing at second here in the bottom half of the eighth inning next pitch in for a strike and it’s two and one well he had a pretty good look at that pitch and not sure exactly what tied him up there couldn’t pull the trigger and perhaps the best pitch you’ll see in this at bat to hit [Music] [Applause] ground ball left side here’s Edwards for one relay to first double play oh man what a smooth double play that was a thing of beauty from start to finish alex Paul and now the DH alex Call 0 for three with three ground outs in the air out to center meyers makes a nice running catch well this guy competes hard you see the emotion there i love it great job of getting out of the jam andre Chaparo getting loose there he’s now in the game at first number 87 back to the top of the order now xavier Edwards getting ready to hit 0 for three with two fly outs and a ground out line drive and that’s a base hit and a good start to the inning oh that started and ended pretty quickly no messing around right there show the willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way didn’t get jumpy didn’t try to pull the ball he let it get deep took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit go ahead run on base jesus Sanchez will hit next and a sack bun here chaparro they apply the tag and the runner moves up to second now batting shorts stop Otto Lopez so the go-ahehead run in scoring position lopez digs in now [Applause] as a pitcher you know the runner on second is ready to push things with his speed a base hit is probably going to be a big run so you really have to execute on the mound now one and one [Applause] the other way down the line and it’s fouled [Applause] fouls it off still one and two [Applause] the shorts stop takes the ball [Applause] on the ground right side and he handles it himself for the out [Applause] now batting number 15 next is the designated hitter Augustine Ramirez [Applause] inside and that is ball one two down go ahead run and score in position [Applause] that clips the corner [Applause] at 96 that pitch is in for a strike on a line he dives but he can’t make the catch in comes the run from third and it’s an RBI single and in the ninth they take the lead still able to come through behind in the count right there nice job of driving that pitch the other way on a line you know hitters they take so many reps in the cages working on going to the opposite field and it doesn’t always translate into the game but right there it did and he did it perfectly so two down and now for the Marlins kyle Stard and first pitch fast is in for a strike [Applause] two outs and ball one doublebarreled action in the bullpen mitchell Parker appears to be getting loose williams also throwing [Music] and a one-1 that’s a ball one-run game here in the top of the ninth that’s a good pitch there really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge and that’s what it was if you swing at it he had a broken back as you jog back to the dugout hit on the ground to short they take the force out and that is that but the RBI single pushes across a run it’s now a 32 ball game you’re watching Major League Baseball on the show welcome back and here comes the closer Anthony Bender he comes in with a chance for his second save of the season now it’s the right fielder Robert Hassel i the third leading off for Washington right fielder Robert Hassel the third tapped at the plate but it’s a foul ball one-run game bottom nine [Applause] way upstairs and the count is one and two [Applause] knocks that one away and we’ll do it again [Music] swing and a miss struck him out well the first batter it’s always a big one for the closer i mean you get that punch out you get settled in you feel like you’re in command out there on the mound from the jump and kind of prevents any doubt from creeping into your mind or the fielders that are playing behind you that you know you’re going to wrap this thing up ruiz in the box now takes strike one oh and one a oneun lead and the home team trying to pull it out swing and a ground ball that’s a base hit well a big swing of the bat right there just kept it simple played pepper with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from and there’s just no one there to knock it down here in the bottom of the ninth one out jose Tenna digging in for the Nationals and that’s outside ball [Applause] just missed great take right there showed some really good discipline breaking ball coming in you see it well but don’t trust that it’s going to hang on for a strike nice job [Applause] really been able to slow down the game tonight with his at bats and the biggest one he’s had so far he doesn’t look anxious at all [Applause] and that’s a strike out looking now only one out remaining now that up now for Washington CJ Abrams as the Nationals are down to their final out right now they’re looking for something hit hard into the gaps give them an opportunity with two outs to score that run from first check swing and he went it’s 0 and one 01’s the count tying run at first the winning run at the plate and now it’s even up oh he’s really working him away this at bat sometimes take a little bit off velocity try to get a roll over something on the ground stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield [Applause] bender is just one strike away that misses and it’s to a two they tried to get him to go chase the pitch down and away but he wouldn’t bite [Applause] hard hit down the line and left and he’s got it ball game and the Marlins hold on to win a tight one as this one ends as a one-run ball game well you take a tie ball game into the ninth on the road you know that you’ve got some work to do you got to score but then you’ve also got to get three outs in the bottom half of that inning they did just that today very well played ball game get this win on the road everybody’s happy with the W
