It’s time for some answers…

here’s Brody Brazil okay so I know you just heard it it’s what starts most of my videos here on YouTube here’s Brody Brazil and no that’s not my voice what you normally hear that’s the professional Jeff Collins he’s the voiceover artist a legend in fact he recently joined me for a chat here on the channel what a couple weeks ago he’s great at it i’m so proud to have him as the sonic branding of this channel and what starts basically yeah all of the videos but that being established listen to this from the KICU studios here’s Brody Brazil with the halftime sports update that was the first time and I think from maybe like 2000 or the year 2001 that was the first time I’d ever heard my name said by a professional voiceover artist and I don’t remember that gentleman’s name but he used to do all the work for us at Channel 36 KICU television as well as channel 2 the legendary KTVU up in Oakland he was the voice every night when you’d tune in to the award-winning 10:00 news on KTVU like it was his voice and so to hear him saying my name yeah back then was pretty awesome but how about this and now here’s your host Brody Brazil that was Alan Watus who also had a very uh very big presence in the South Bay in the San Jose area you heard him on a lot of commercials and a lot of KICU spots over the years how about this here’s Brody Brazil i think his name is Doc uh we’ve had a bunch of voiceover guys over the years do promo reads and intros for shows and yeah of course I’ve got them all saved somewhere i think there’s one more and Brody Brazil yeah there you go so it just goes to show that I’ve chosen Jeff as as the main intro for this this channel he does that for me uh but yeah I’ve had it said by some others and of course I keep them all because it’s cool but that’s not why we’re here we’re here because I now want to offer the opportunity for Q&A with you right now so how do we start the questions well you comment in this video down below put anything that’s on your mind anything that’s relevant pertinent you think would spark an interesting conversation a back and forth what I will do is take the very best ones and I will do a reply video in the very near future it might be days it might be a week or so i like to let things percolate i like to capture as many good comments as I can but down below you want to ask me about anything that you think would garner a good response please do that down below by typing in your question or a comment or anything that you think would uh engage very well put that down below so it’s not just the comments though we’ve done this before and you know we’re kind of approaching the milestone I think right around the corner of maybe 80,000 subs here on the channel so I want to do it for that it’s been a while we’re overdue to do the Q&A but this time around I also want to offer something even additional i’m going to give you my phone number well no that’s not actually like my cell phone but that’s a number you’ve seen it before i’ve had this for many years you can call at any time right i don’t pick up it doesn’t ring a phone at my house it doesn’t ring anything on my end it just goes straight to voicemail after ringing a couple times i want you to leave a brief message and when I say brief you can take your time you can get into it say who you are say where you’re from but then get right to the point maybe make this thing 30 seconds maybe make it 60 seconds but say what you want to say in a question in a comment in the same type of thing right something that you think is going to spark conversation and what I’ll love to do is take the very best ones maybe make them into separate videos one by one maybe put them all together in one video but in the same way that I want to answer your textual questions I’d also like to take your voicemails your calls and anything interesting you have to say and respond to it in a separate video so I wanted to offer that up there wanted you to hear this as a feature and as an asset here on the channel i used to do it back in the day a couple years ago and it went well i don’t know why I really ever got away from it but I do think that if I just leave this open and you put this in your phone right now and when something strikes you it doesn’t matter if it’s 2:00 p.m 2:00 a.m on a Saturday on a Thursday you name it if something big just happened if something has been brewing in your mind put this number in your phone call it whenever you want i can check it periodically the same way I do email and when I get a good one when I play it   2. You've been covering the NCAA paying their athletes, and having back pay up to 2016. What is the significance of going back to 2016, and which of the divisions does the pay go to? Is it only D1 FCS equivalent?

I’ve always wondered when a baseball player is traded who is responsible for the nuts and bolts issues of a players personal life such as 1- getting help with living accommodation 2-moving his personal vehicle to the new location 3- assistance for the players spouse or significant other 4-obtaining a new drivers license or other required documents for a new state 5-help with breaking a lease or rental agreement in the former location 6-tax advice in moving from a no income tax state to a state with an income tax.

    Of all the cities to lose a major league sports team—which city is most likely to get one back?
    For example you’ve got Oakland and Montreal losing baseball; Baltimore lost basketball when the bullets left. There’s definitely precedent for getting a sport back to a city. Baltimore had it happen with both our teams! The O’s left to become the Yankees and came back. The Colts left and we later got the Ravens.

  6. MLB Uniforms. Majestic->NIKE->Fanatics & Chinese KO's that are better than modern jerseys. Really nice dive and why there is no reason to improve because there's no competition. It all sucks & needs to change and maybe the MLBPA can change it in their next agreement…hopefully. Thanks, love your videos!

  8. @Brodie: Here's a question for you to discuss– are sports seasons TOO long? It's June and the NBA and NHL are still playing? And MLB running till Election Day (almost) and NFL till President's Day (almost)? Yeah, yeah, I know, fans buy tix, TV deals are made, so there's no incentive to shorten the seasons, but i WILL tell you one thing– you've got cricket at the Oakland Mausoleum and that league's season will run only a month. If you like cricket well enough, you'll look for other leagues that play at other times (the West Indies in September, Australia in Dec./Jan., India in April). I guess what I'm asking is, do "niche" sports benefit from a briefer season in terms of lower overhead and attracting casual fans who might not watch if the season were long and interminable? Do the "Big 4" (plus MLS and NASCAR to some degree) suffer, not attracting more backsides in seats and eyeballs on the screen than some choir being preached to?

  11. Are you familiar with former Marlins president David Sampson's Youtube channel "Nothing Personal"? David actually has been in charge of getting a stadium built. I think his insights would be very valuable when it comes to the Las Vegas and Tampa Bay stadium situations.

  13. Say a professional baseball team never existed in the Bay Area (Giants and Athletics never came, and no expansion team was issued.) Do you think you’d be a fan of baseball in general growing up? And if so, what do you think your favourite team would be and why?

  16. My dad is 80 and grew up in Allentown-about 30 miles from Philadelphia. The voiceover and commercial voice he heard constantly growing up was John Facienda.

    Yes. That Facienda, who became the voice of NFL Films throughout the 70's and early 80's.

If this "ground-opening" in Las Vegas is just a show, as many people think it is, and we don't see significant progress being made on the actual building of a stadium there, do you think there comes a point where the other 29 MLB owners get tired of John Fisher's dog and pony show and force him to sell the Nomad Athletics?   24. Do you at all follow the Golden State Valkyries? Women's basketball gets a very bad rap. I watch the WNBA all the time. A big Lynx fan for years and Cheryl Reeve should be anointed queen of the WNBA! Beside that these games are extremely competitive and they play the game the way it should be p[played, in my opinion. No diva's sans Caitlin Clark who gets far too much attention. They never saw Maya Moore. She is the gold standard. Asa Wilson and Naphesa Collier head the league and neither acts above the game. They get coverage but for the right reasons. I could not follow the NBA anymore because it's become a 3 point league with little defense. There I said it!

  26. Hey Brodie, love the channel. I'm from St. Louis, and the UFL season is about to wrap up. St. Louis really shows out as far as attendance goes for this league and our Battlehawks, more than doubling the next team's total, and it's partly due to spite for the NFL leaving. Question for you as a Bay Area native, do you think the UFL could build the same atmosphere with a team in Oakland, and how would you try to brand and market an Oakland team if they made you team president?

  29. What do you think is the timeline for the NBA to return to Seattle? Being that Seattle has an NBA ready arena and an ownership group that is actively looking to be stewards of the Sonics franchise, it seems like it would be sooner than later?

  30. Brodie: Great topic- should MLB consider an extended all star break to play the WBC in July versus March? The tournament caught fire last time around and should leverage the NHL 4 Team.

  32. With teams wanting to move away from location to a new set with a ballpark village what will that lead to in the future? The saint louis cardinals will be in there current stadium for 20 years next season and 30 years seems to be a common amount for teams to leave their building. Will ballpark villages help with and teams will stay longer at their current setup? What if they move away instead what about the business surrounding them? I am wondering your thoughts on this.
