was everybody able to practice yeah yeah good practice uh was guessing dane came through yeah he actually came through great felt great you know a little sore um was happy we played him the extra minutes you know thought that that really got him his rhythm back so we’ll see i guess just for him we kind of talked to him after the game and he felt like you know it might have looked like i was exhausted but didn’t really feel like it um was that a little bit of a surprise that you know i know how well he yeah i thought there were times i don’t know if he was exhaustion is the right word but there were times he was clearly tired uh i thought it showed on the other end more than on the offensive end and also thought even late in the game there were a couple times he had the ball where he should have made a play and he just gave it up that wouldn’t have been dame uh before injury so uh that still may happen you know uh we’ll see that take a dock do you expect him to get stronger as the series go on you kind of think like reasonably yeah i actually don’t know the answer to that it’s going to go one way or the other you know that’s a fact uh i just don’t know i mean um you hope like he gets stronger but that the series is hard and that takes something away from you so that answer is is a good question i just don’t know the answer after the game you guys said like i know the situation i know what to do um he is so great he has been such a talented player how do you try to make sure he doesn’t try to do too much though yeah i mean it’s it’s just that’s called team sports you know and uh he’s got to do what he needs to do to help us win and he’s doing that uh i thought the way he played in game two was was terrific um he was dominant in his own right and he made other people much better um you know you can’t just be great on your own have to give room for everybody else to be great and i thought giannis did a fantastic job of that along those sort of same lines obviously down two situations what is kind of the message to the team sense of not trying to do well we just can’t overdo it we can’t overadjust we can’t overdo anything uh we like our team you know um we’re at home and now we got our crowd there but our crowd uh they’re going to be amazing because they’ve been amazing you know we got to match their energy and and surpass that and i think you’ll see that defensively just defensively what do you want to see adjustments what do you guys yeah well several areas the no middle drives are killing us uh that’s just on the ball middle drives i think they they generated almost 40 points in middle drives alone that’s just mono mono uh when that’s one of our number one rules so uh that has to be taken away we have to be better at the point of the ball on our pick and roll coverage um transition game two was fantastic i thought we did a great job there you know and then we can’t have empty possessions offensively you know i think we counted 17 empty possessions and empty possessions for us is what we may have gotten a shot but it was just bull crap you know it was just not good offense um you can have two you can’t have 17 so those 15 times i think they scored on us at 13 of the 15 because no floor balance bad shot takes spirit away along the same lines it seemed like you guys were switching on defense in game two what do you like you know i like i like our switches overall uh we switched burke a couple times and they were supposed to be help and no one came that those were game plan mistakes those can’t happen speaking of the switch you guys yeah it’s because we’re playing indiana it feels like they just run their offense no matter what so you can do five switches and you’re 5 seconds in the possession you still how do you kind of try to keep that well you know there there was 0.91 against switching so we don’t need to do anything else we just need to do it even better i mean obviously we could live with that uh but we want to be better you mentioned game plan breakdown there bobby had mentioned off the top of his head he said “i think we gave up 15 game plan breakdowns.” yeah they know it they know it it’s it’s disheartening um you know what makes it tough in from the coaching standpoint and that is like you think about an adjustment but you’re not doing your coverage right so do you make an adjustment or do your coverage right you know uh it’s a lot easier when you’re doing your coverage and they’re hurt you in that to pull the trigger on the next thing it’s really hard when you’re not doing your coverage and that’s where uh bobby after the game was very vocal about it like “hey we’re going to keep making game plan mistakes they’re going to take advantage of it.” um and he counted 15 we our number was way higher uh but the fact that he was at 15 tells you a lot so with that like it’s not hard we just have to do it it’s focus so does that as you’re looking ahead and you’re talking about point of attack defense and you know pick and roll i mean are you looking at lineup rotation changes or have you have the two days show we look at everything we look at everything um don’t mean we’re going to do anything but we look we look at it all uh it’s been a chippy series i mean you talked about these guys yeah you just can’t the only i don’t mind the chippiness i mean it’s you know uh i said this the other day i just wish they stopped looking at the video every time someone stares at me if i stare at you and then we go run to the video i mean just please stop that that’s all i would say having said that is i don’t care if you can play through chippiness that’s fine but if you can’t then don’t do it um it can’t be chippiness and then it turns into one-on-one personal stuff right because that’s that’s you about that’s you thinking about yourself not the team uh if it’s a physical play and it’s chippiness that way i’m i’m all for that so we just got to be able to control our emotions mono mono because that doesn’t work and this is not boxing uh this is a team game and if a guy says something to you we’re still trying to beat their team and we got to get away from that i thought a lot of the chimney was someone both ways someone said something he took offense to it gez come on like all right so we just got to keep playing times are about the same you feel like the quality of threes you’re getting in game two yeah oh yeah well we didn’t get any quality i i said that our our threes in game one were afterthoughts our threes in game two um were phenomenal having said that uh we should have had nine more nine more point blank threes that we didn’t get the ball and we showed all those today like those have to happen at least over half of those like those are every time it’s got to be the right play and um i mean the guys were surprised i mean not i’m talking about wide open nine more threes should have been taken um and and so we have to do that we will do that the team has experienced adversity throughout the season yeah and responded yeah nba cup roger finished the season do you think that kind of experience and overcoming it is helpful in this situ well i hope so you know because this team has uh performed well under adversity and you’re down 20 i know there have been both road games but you’re still down 200 and and that’s a hole that you have to dig yourself out of and so we have to dig oursel out of this hole uh we just can’t show up and think we’re home and everything’s going to take care of itself we got to go take care of it ourselves like there’s a report about john yeah yeah it’s awesome it’s just awesome it’s just um it’s the news i’ve been waiting for i’m just very happy for him he’s done an amazing job we have an amazing relationship and and it just creates stability u i i just i’m a big believer in stability in organizations uh that’s how you build teams so very happy for john and his family how important is it for you two to be connected oh it’s always connected uh i mean it’s always important it’s um i think it’s the key to to winning franchises you know um it’s the best connected i’ve been since i’ve been in in uh boston you i was pretty connected with l and and since i hired him but uh it’s just it it matters so much for coaches when the gm and it’s just it doesn’t work the other way it it never will work the other way um you know the team starts upstairs in front office first and coaches then it then the the everybody else sees that it’s a team you know and and and we have that
