A’s vs. Royals Game Highlights (6/14/25) | MLB Highlights
We’re Kaufman Stadium getting ready for game two of this three game set athletics and the Kansas City Royals on the mound for the Royals today. It’s right hander Michael Lorenzen, he makes his 14th start of the season and he’s coming off a really good bounce back start last Sunday against the White Sox in which he only allowed one hit two down to Brent Rooker ground ball to deep third big hop long throw and there made a throw and it’s a 123 top of the first. Meanwhile, for the a it’s a rookie lefty Jacob Lopez and this is just his seventh career start and his fifth this year Lopez zero and four with an earned run average of an even six garcia three out of four last night. A double included, scored a run stole a base shot down the right field line. It is fair, fairly fair played by Butler in the corner and Garcia is gonna stop at second with a leadoff double. You talk about measuring the ballpark by not feet but by inches, there are two ways, Salvador Perez trying to get through Perez and leave Garcia at second. The pitch to Perez swing and popped up the second baseman shielding the son with his glove as he makes the catch in the inning is over. Good job by Lopez. So here in the second, so Kurt all against the starter for the Royals, Michael Lonz patience here produces first base runner for the A’s bring up Max M max 284 homers 13 driven in as the 10 pitch from Lorenz in that swung on drive down the left line. It back a two run home for Munsey and the A’s lead. A two nothing man. Oh man. Some guys seem like they can just stop the baseball on the bat and that’s what it looks like for Max MXI right now, man. Number five on the year RB I is 14 and 15. It’s a two nothing a lead. That’s the only hit that Michael Lorenzen has allowed this point kind of similarly to his start against the White Sox where his only hit allowed was a two run homer. The number nine hitter Denzel Clark leads off fastball foul tipped his Salvi’s mid or for means mid. That’s strike three and Lorenzen has his first strike out of the day. So one up, one down for Lorenzen , the 02 again and Butler waves and misses. There’s the change up and Lorenzen uses it to get strike three back to back cases in the top of the third inning and there are two outs and Lorenzen has a bunch of different weapons. Might as well use the ones that he feels the strongest about swung on and missed strike three. Got him with a slider. Michael Lorenzen strikes out three in the top of the third inning and the Royals have runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs for Vinny Pasin Lopez was one pitch away from a three up three down inning but garcia single junior walked Lopez has thrown 52 pitches and 25 of those have been in this inning. So Michael Garcia and Bobby Witt Junior get a head start at each base with a full count and two outs. Garcia takes off her third and nobody saw Lopez was holding on to the baseball and now Bobby Witt Junior gets second because Lopez stepped off the rubber. That was a disengagement the third one in this plate appearance and that counts as a ball. So now it’s two in scoring position with a three and two count and two outs. Part of the game, you definitely have to slow things down and don’t get caught up in everything that’s going on. Just make a quality pitch. If you’re Lopez swung on and lifted to right, he’s going to get out of it coming in for it, but the sun makes the catch. The sun was brutal out there on Butler, but he made the catch and Lopez gets out of it unharmed. And so the fourth inning begins with a four pitch walk. Second time today that Lorenzo walked Soderstrom. Here’s Luis Arias with a runner on first and two outs. Runner goes, the pitch is high. The throw down to second base is not in time stolen. It, Soderstrom with a stolen base that is his fourth stolen base of the year. He’s four for 4runner on second two outs gives a chance and this one is going to go towards the gap in left center traveling a long way. It’s going to bounce off the wall and it will be Soderstrom coming in, make it three to A’s and Luis sat a ri yesterday’s game. Luis hit the home run and every swing that he’s taken since Then has been quality. Sometimes it just takes one swing. You go to the bottom of the fourth, the it on, it’s a 3 to 0 lead for the athletics as Salvador Perez will be the hitter swung on and missed down. He goes good fastball tailed away from Perez as Salvador strikes out. That’s the fourth strikeout for Lopez. Lofton. Now, Lofton popped up to the shortstop wilson in the second inning. Zero for one on and miss down, he goes, got him another slider. So another strikeout for Jacob Lopez, that’s his fifth two down. And here is Jack Cagle slider waved that and this down. He goes another strikeout for Jacob Lopez. His sixth no runs hit batsman, one left. We’re through four bases empty with two outs, Lorenzen and out shy of a quality start today, he delivers and chops it softly to the left side with scoops it up at short taps. His glove throws to first in time for the out inning over six innings for Michael Lorenzen. He allows three runs on four hits a couple of walks, three strikeouts and he exits first base side with his second consecutive quality start. Jacob Lopez five innings just two hits allowed spinning a beauty right now has not allowed a run just one free pass to the seven punch outs for the South paw down. He goes a four seed fastball that was down and away. And another strikeout for Jacob Lopez, that’s his 88 strikeouts ties his season high as the lefty delivers the pitch strike three called down. He goes and there’s nine strikeouts for Lopez. Jacob Lopez has struck out six of the last nine batters. He has faced ties his career high with nine strikeouts can, has struck out and he was hit with a pitch’s swung on line drive caught at the shoot tops by in the inning is over. So Canna lines out six strong shutout innings for the left hander. Two quick outs for Daniel Lynch. The form back to the top of the lineup and now lefty Lawrence Butler that swung on glass to right center and well, going back for it as water near the track at the wall. It is gone. Lawrence Butler. A solo homer. It’s four nothing A’s. That is number 10 for Butler is 30th RB. I, and the A’s add on it’s four to nothing. Oh, my stars. That ball was crushed. One bounce up in a fountain up there we go to the bottom of the eighth. That’s a four nothing A’s lead. Michael Kelly who worked a 1237. Still out there is zero for two. He’s one for his last 17, his bobblehead day, his 25th birthday bounced to third, scooped up by Mun Fires to first in time. It’s a 12, 3/8 inning for the right hander, Michael Kelly who has retired all six he has faced and we’re through eight, complete the bottom of the ninth and moving to the pitcher’s mound is Hogan Harris a lot of work to do in the ninth guys. This is four games in a row now , four games where they have scored a total of one run in innings one through and the A’s are one out away from the shutout win. Here is Lofton who is 0 to 3 has popped up, struck out and bounced out. The pitch is swung on fly ball to right field. They should do it. Shielding the sun is, but he is under it and he makes the catch and the A’s the shutout win here in Kansas City. They win it four to nothing and they win the series with a chance for the sweep tomorrow. Great win for the ball club for the A’s four runs. Six hits and no airs. They stranded five for the Royals. No runs, four hits, no airs, they stranded six. The winning pitcher is Lopez. He is one and four losing pitcher Lorenz and he’s four and seven and the A’s get the 40 win. And what a win it was.

It's a big ask to expect the Royals to score a run, this coming from a Royals fan

GJ Jacob! Love it… come on let's shoot for a .900 win % ,guys you can do it yeeeeeeeees!
I love my Royals but 1/32 with RISP against the Yankees in the season series and now ONE run in two games against an abysmal A's team with terrible pitching is, well, pathetic. The Royals are almost top 10 in hits but bottom three in runs this season. It makes no sense. Still, we had a worse record at this point last year and then went on a tear. I still think we can string a run together!
OMG, how do you lose at home to one of the worst teams in the league? Embarrassing!
Let’s get a decent streak goin boys , turn up

Only KC can allow a team losing 14 straight road games come & kick their butts. Lost to a AAA team so perhaps they should send the whole team down. Not a serious team and shouldn't be receiving any tax $$ to move. So far removed from the days of Ned Yost and David Glass, Coach Q needs to go. Have seen far too much amateurish stuff lately too
Disappointed to royals
