🔴LIVE 🔴Milwaukee Brewers vs St. Louis Cardinals – June 15, 2025 | Envivo | MLB The Show 25
first pitch moments away and on the hill the big righty Jacob Miserowski base runners are tough to come by with him out there chris well he’s been a real quality starter for his club and coming into this one what stands out for me is that right-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 on the year it seems they have a hard time picking up his release point and tracking the ball into the zone so we’ll see how right-handers do against him in this one lars Nuke the leadoff batter as he looks at ball one the pitch that breaking ball drops in for a strike fouled off left side and misses it’s a strike out that’s tough you see it well i mean that was clearly up and out of the strike zone but that’s one of the hardest things but when you see a pitch out of the hand at eye level that discipline to remember I can’t hit that pitch if I can see it really well at eye level I can’t catch up to that pitch when a pitcher’s got this kind of velocity and up next for St louis Mason Win let’s go Jacob the short stop takes a ball [Laughter] here we go one down base is empty one [Applause] and now two balls in a strike he never moved cuz he never had time to with that kind of velocity you’d prefer that pitcher work away that’s in there and it’s two and two one out base is empty strike three and that’s two in a row well there appears to be no problem settling in on the mound out there today it looks pretty tough to start this one punching out the first two hitters of this ball game and somebody’s going to have to put the bat on the ball put it in play and get something going swing and a line drive that’s a base hit into right field and that extends the inning went up there looking to be aggressive and got something he could handle nice job of driving that pitch the other way on a line you know hitters they take so many reps in the cages working on going to the opposite field and it doesn’t always translate into the game but right there it did and he did it perfectly here comes Wilson Contreras outside low and that’s ball one and another ball he hasn’t wanted to challenge him both of those pitches off the plate away don’t expect anything down the heart of the plate you may just have to be patient and take your walk here come on close but called a ball ball three herrera leads off first with two down to the inning next offering is in for a strike so now two on two out now this was a story we were paying attention to before the game we’ve seen him give up walks in the past and it’s an issue once again early on and here is Alec Burlson delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95 inside just missed one and one swung on belted and that’s a foul ball [Music] that’s a ball squirts away a little bit two aboard two outs that’s out to center field chorio squeezes it and that is that so the Cards strand a couple and now the Brewers will get their first cuts no score it’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show back here in Milwaukee on the mound for this one Steven Mats what do you have on him well he brings into this one an excellent strikeout to walk ratio on the season and when you consider the amount of swings and misses that he gets the fact that he’s not issuing free passes that’s going to make him more economical in his pitch count allow him to move into the middle and deeper part of ball games so we’ll see if that remains true in this one hit in the air left field duke in a dead sprint no trouble here puts it away for the out one away let’s take a look at the Brewers lineup and the challenge for this lineup today singy finding a way to have success against the sinker ball yeah it’s a tough pitch to hit Boo and even harder to elevate got to set your sights a little bit higher when you’re at the dish they’re struggling with it i’d expect them to make some type of adjustment it won’t take long to see how well that sinker is working today jackson Chorio in the box now no balls in a strike 0 and one off the mark there and the count is one and one the 1-1 is fouled off [Music] and he hits a ground ball right side and he handles it himself for the out batting third the catcher Williams two down base is empty and now it’s William Contrarus [Applause] up the middle and he knocks it down the throw is still in time and they do get the third out of the inning nobody left for Milwaukee scoreless after one back here at American Family Field second inning set to go here’s Nolan Aronado miserowski back to work that clips the corner man i mean nice job just presenting it to be better than it actually was milwaukee highf fly ball out towards left center chorio has a beat on it one down batting seven the second baseman Nolan here’s Nolan Gorman let’s do this and that one just misses a ball and no strikes was good pitch there really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge and that’s one of those if you swing at it hit a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout let’s go next offering is downstairs [Music] swanging a ball lined out towards center that’s out number two not fooled at all right there he was clearly all over it but sometimes you hit it too hard and right at someone you’re looking for one of those loop hits to get a knock sometimes and here’s the catcher Pedro Pahes come on Brewers that one’s upstairs ball one pahes getting the starting catcher 26 years old and he was born in Venezuela check swing and he went and that is strike one one ball one strike and that one fouled off two outs base is empty [Music] bows it off still one and two you got this and it’s fouled off they’ll do it again the one two that’s down and in two and two still two and two after the foul ball i wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball try to go again with a fast ball slightly elevated he just having a hard time catching up and that’s down and away wow this guy’s really battling up there as if his run is the game-winning run i love his tenacity three balls two strikes to count outside corner got him looking nothing doing there for St louis we’ll go to the bottom of the second no score [Applause] and now it’s Christian for the Brewers the designated hitter Christian and that one missing low one and0 this one ripped but foul to the right come on [Applause] missed with a change up now two and two two-2 [Applause] keeps the atbat going with a foul ball yelli set down on strikes batting fit and the batter now is Reese Hoskins hoskins hoskins pushes a foul [Music] next offering misses and it’s one and one a played umpire Earl Hendris yeah with Hendricks boo kind of interesting he’s a good consistent umpire but you do hear that he kind of favors one side of the plate more than the other so it’s really hard to know for sure but I think that usually it has to do something with where he sets up prior to each pitch one down base is empty swing and a miss struck him out of the slider and there’s two gone well Boo I’ll tell you when he goes to look at the video of that pitch he’s going to want to punch himself that slider had hit me written all over it and clearly he just got a little too excited and was out in front tell you what when you get a pitch like that you cannot miss it those have a chance to go a long way so two down now and here is Isaac Collins that one’s in there that’s strike one 0 and one and that is out of play second inning here no score and a foul ball he stays alive brings it in for the third out gone in order are the Brewers we’ll move to the third with no score and stepping in is the speedy Victor Scott number 11 Victor Scott let’s go that one blasted deep to right going back on this one gone straight into the visitors bullpen that one felt good third home run of the season and the Cardinals have the lead now it’s one- nothing he only needed one swing to square it up not wasting any time in that at bat boo aggressive and it paid off with a low 90s fast ball you have to live on the edges and hit your spots if you don’t you’ll get hit hard really good swing there patient waited for it it was like BP all over again back to the leadoff spot in the St louis lineup lars Nbar next up for the Cardinals struck out swinging his first time on the ground hoskins handles the chance steps on first for the out good two seam action right there running away from the batter rolled over it got the ground out mason win next up for the Cardinals his first at bat was a strikeout [Music] [Applause] and that one upstairs ball one 10 that’s a slider for a strike dangerous spot for that slider right there didn’t seem to quite finish out front and get that sharp break tell you what he doesn’t want to throw that pitch again one down base is empty and he bunts but that’s a foul ball the shorts stop takes a ball one out base is empty and a run in we’re here in the top half of inning number three slider misses outside he should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked [Applause] swings and hits one in the air out towards right field diving it gets down could be extra bases around second now as they still don’t have it and he’ll make it into third with a triple now batting the designated hitter Ivon Barrera and now it’s Ivon Herrera one for one with a single so far [Applause] that one close rule the ball ball one 10 [Applause] out towards left center chorio on the move to the gap he’s got it runner tags from third the throw in not in time he’s safe and a run comes in to score sometimes all you got to do is your job and don’t over complicate things keep it simple runner at third less than two outs put the ball in play and a nice job with the sack fly [Applause] they had a foul ball [Applause] swinging a foul out of play got it make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today but two runs for him and they jump ahead we move on to the bottom of inning number three it’s the Cardinals two and the Brewers nothing this is Bryce Terra he’s already set career best for stolen bases in a season chris Ter ripped to short sends it across to first lead off hitter gone in the third oh we talk about how the ball is coming out of the pitcher’s hand the way it comes out of his hand as an infielder wow really impressive now the third baseman just missed oh well the offense has gotten going and a pitcher wants to go out there have a real quick inning get those guys back into the dugout so those bats can stay hot in for a strike and the count one and one and there’s a foul ball and they’ll do it again that one just misses really good take especially with two strikes on the ground to third sends it to first two up two down batting n the shortstop Joseph two out space is empty now a chance for Joseph Ortiz swinging a foul straight back come on Milwaukee the short stop takes a ball swang and a ball lifted in the air nuke Bar moves under it and that’s the inning so digging in Alec Burlson fly to center his first time he’s 0 for one [Music] that one finds the zone strike one you know these cards doing a great job Boo of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way and I’m seeing very patient at bats out of them they’re doing a good job of working the pitch count and they’ve been able to push a couple of runs across to score as well fouled off and they’ll do it again still relatively early but with a pair of runs already on the board the ripple effect of that high pitch count might set him up to do more damage later in this game swing and a miss struck him out he picks up his fifth strike out on the hill stood absolutely no chance on that slider right there and I don’t mean to laugh but that’s a tough one i mean pretty much a perfect strikeout pitch i mean it looks like a fast ball middle in kind of has cutter action and it just bunches you up to whereas you can’t get your hands through and the barrel to it and not much you can do unless you recognize the spin early and you spit on at the plate for the second time as he takes ball one that two seam fast ball is usually coupled with a slider away and when a hitter’s conscious of the pitch in it’s hard for him to cover middle away and that’s where a pitcher can really finish off that batter swing and a miss as he was late that time threw that fast ball right by him slightly elevated that’s a confidence boost for this guy out there on the mound see if he continues to climb the ladder swinging a miss at a slider see if you can go upstairs a little bit make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading the count one two don’t miss in the zone because that’s where you get hurt battling here as he fouls it away fans another and that’s three straight strikeouts well that’s always the key to effective pitching is getting ahead in the count and as a pitcher it really allows you to start expanding the zone hitters become defensive and all of a sudden that plate starts to get really wide and what happens is because of the pressure you end up committing to a pitch as a batter before you recognize what it is and that’s what leads to the strikeout gorman at the plate and takes high there oh yeah yeah that’s fouled off the one-1 got the back going too soon it’s strike two one two two down nobody on inside and hit him he had two strikes on him and he hit him and now the Cardinals catcher Pedro P he’s 0 for one and the pitch a little bit low ball one that’s towards center chorio under it and makes the grab and that’s the third out no runs on no hits no errors and one left on we’re midway in the fourth it’s the Cardinals two and the Brewers nothing s Freeligrew the right fielder S three left here we go come on swing and a miss strike one well these Brewers just lacking discipline at the plate in this ball game they’re chasing a lot of pitches outside the zone and those chases are turning into a bunch of outs can they turn that around and stay within the zone we’ll see but I think they have to it falls in and that’s a base hit had a good start to the inning the center fielder number 11 the batter down Jackson Torio for one he grounded out to first his last time and that is downstairs one and0 well here’s a good opportunity in this inning to get on the scoreboard after that leadoff hit and hardly order coming up right behind them this is where they need to get going this is one of those situations defensively where you can’t try to do too much you got to make sure that you feel the ball cleanly and get one out first it’s going to be tough to get two with this kind of speed in the batters box [Applause] next offering in there for a strike and that is strike two way inside [Applause] [Music] that one backed up the middle and it gets through lead runner to second so two on and nobody out back to back base hits really protected with two strikes right there pitch wasn’t even close but man he got the barrel to it somehow nice job of bad ball hitting william Contras up now for the Brewers he’s been really clutch with runners in scoring position this season so they’ll have to be extra careful in this matchup first pitch doesn’t find the zone [Music] to the right side gorman in plenty of time to first one out in the bottom of the fourth that was a productive at bat you know you’re doing something right anytime you help move two runners in scoring position and give your team a chance to drive in a few runs even if it’s still kind of early in the game [Applause] Yelich in the box now takes strike one he’s been incredibly efficient in this one first pitch strike percentage over 70% that’s well above league average and that’s what’s allowed him to pitch well up until Oh two strikes and a swinging a miss and he’s registered three Ks in this one the first base here is Hoskins hoskins in for a strike and it’s 0 and one man this guy’s got a great feel for his breaking ball today and that one fouled off two outs two in scoring position we’re here in the bottom of the fourth [Applause] ground ball right side and that chance handled throws to first in time and he has thrown four shut out innings no runs on two hits no errors and two men left stranded we’re headed to the fifth it’s the Cardinals two and the Brewers nothing digging in it’s the speedy outfielder Victor Scott he’s already homered in this game miserowski back to work scott goes 5 feet 11 in 24 years old and he was a fifthround pick in 2022 swing and a miss and it’s one and one i think he was sitting off speed there off the plate inside and it’s two and one swing and he breaks his bat now the throw to first on the run and very nicely done for the out good fast ball in on the hands makes the swing a little defensive jammed him up right there so the batting order turns over now up for St louis lars Newbar 0 for two in this one hard grounder into the outfield for a knock so a man aboard now with one away here’s the shortstop at the play mason win one for two first offering misses badly for ball one come on let’s go fouled off he was late left field nabs it two-way down good pitch he just kind of had him out in front on that pitch away and wasn’t able to stay closed now batting the designated hitter Ivon so now here’s the Cardinals designated hitter Ivon Herrera and a first pitch fastball is in for a strike he’s pitching well but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes usually doesn’t work out for success but you can never predict baseball swaging a ball hit out towards left center field and that’ll fall for a base hit and now to a board now batting the first baseman Wilson manager out of the dugout now and it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound jacob Miserowski gives way and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base back with a new pitcher after this now pitching for Aaron Cavali taking over on the mound just trying to keep this one close here and this is where a bullpen can give their players a chance to fight back into the game and up to hit is Wilson Contrarus a strike out and a walk the other way makes the grab and that’ll end the inning so the Cards strand a couple as they’re unable to add to their two nothing lead [Applause] up now for Milwaukee Isaac Collins for one so far collins That pitch clips the outside corner and that’s strike one well these Brewers as this game goes on have to be more disciplined at the plate chasing pitches has been a big part of the story we’ve seen it quite a bit today it’s been tough for them to make contact at times and it just doesn’t look like they’re seeing it very well as a group and on the mound you know confidence has to be pretty high with all of the swings and misses he’s had them eaten out of the palm of his hand pretty much all game check swing he held up one to count swing and a miss struck him out he’s notched four strikeouts now and Chris that’s a way to neutralize his speed by keeping him off base and the defense breathes a sigh of relief because he puts pressure on everyone if he can put the ball in play but that’s how you do it keep him off balance get him out of there and deal with the next guy terra batting with one down takes the strike 0 and one the Brewers trailing by two last half of inning number five inside at one and one one and one this ball’s chopped on the ground and that quickly two away now batting third baseman Caleb here’s the third baseman grounded out his first time off on the ground right side he takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it brewers go down quietly they trail things here two nothing stepping in Alec Burlson hot dogs hot dogs get your hot dogs first pitch and he just misses action in the pen down there jared Kanig the left-hander is getting that big fast ball of his ready to go zestrrisnney also throwing pitch is in there and the count one and one one and one gets him to chase after that one one and two [Applause] and that one is inside that’s foul off to the right side keeps the AB going that’s outside full countdown that one misses so a leadoff walk what a battle it’s not always easy laying off a 3-2 pitch and I tell you what he earned that walk so a man at first so now it’s Dolan Aronado check swing called strike [Music] [Applause] on the ground to third and it stays fair and he can’t come up with it now second and third and nobody out there’s something about pulling one down the line and shooting it through the infield that’s just so satisfying as a hitter it’s just fun turning on a pitch like he did right there nolan Gorman next up for the Cardinals golden opportunity right here and the first offering is not close two in scoring position nobody out and we’re the top half of the sixth and a big swing and a miss one and one [Applause] and a count one and two [Applause] and that’s a little high man oh man i don’t know how you take that pitch that’s as close as it gets got him looking huge strike out there now the catcher up to him Pedro Pah the goal is to give your teammate a chance to score from third there’s a few ways he can get it done but his best chance is to drive one in the air look for the right pitch up and then smoke it [Music] [Applause] two on one out ball out swing and a popup ortiz calls it in two away up next for the Cardinals the center fielder Victor Scott and stepping in for the Cardinals Victor Scott he blasted one out earlier in the third just a solo home run but an important swing of the bat in this game we’ve already seen him do it once can he do it again [Applause] in the air pretty deep out to center field choro settles under this one and that’s the third out so it’s no runs on a hit no errors and two are left 91 and two scheduled to hit in the home half of the sixth it’s the Cardinals two and the Brewers nothing sunny Gray gets handed the rock out of the pen still a lot of game left and this game could go either way so this is a big opportunity for him to get some important outs and try to help carry this lead into the later innings up now for Milwaukee Joseph Ortiz fly to left his first time or [Applause] there’s the strike it’s been tough for the offense so far but you can’t get frustrated you got to find a way to shake it off go up there and relax that’s the only way you’re going to be able to put runs up on the board and a foul ball [Music] in the air left field nbar snags it and there’s one down now batting right fielder S back to the top of the Milwaukee order s Freelick up now for the Brewers let’s go Brewers [Applause] and that one is downstairs and that is ball one the Cardinals up by two here in the bottom of the sixth and right back to the mound slings to first in time the center fielder number 11 Jackson next for Milwaukee Jackson fast for a strike that one ripped but fouled gets a piece and stays alive fights that one away and the count remains 0 and2 foul ball left side he’ll see another ball [Applause] fights that one away still one and two [Applause] and that skips in there fights it off you’ll see another on the ground right side and it goes just fouled in an era with a lot of swing and miss and strikeouts you got to love an at bat like this no one giving in two outs that one hammered left field going back going gone he’ll circle the bases and they’re on the board it’s 2-1 he kept swinging and it paid off well that was a battle and he just kept taking his cuts finally squared one up knew what pitch he wanted to hit spent on some other pitches in this atbat was very patient and it paid off so two away with nobody on William Contreras the next to hit and that one fouled off two down on that’s off the inside corner ball one [Applause] founding ball here rolls foul next offering is down low [Applause] and the sweeper is off the plate no he’s not afraid to fall into a two strike count knows the strike zone very well so much so that I think umpires will look at him and determine whether it’s a ball or strike if he swings or not on the ground to the left and that’s just foul and that is low for ball four his ability to draw walks has been something that’s been part of his career since day one here comes the skipper and we’re going to see a pitching change in this spot sunny Gray will depart and he leaves in a one-run game new pitcher coming on we’ll be back in a minute now pitching new pitcher for the Cardinals Jojo Romero and he’s done a great job keeping the ball in the park this year the numbers stack up with some of the best in the game two outs runner at first christian Yelich up now for the Brewers the MVP in 2018 the runner up in 2019 [Applause] swing and a pop off in foul ground catcher tosses the mask settles under it makes the grab and the inning is over but the Brewers get one back on the solo home run and it’s now a two-1 ball game it’s Major League Baseball on the show here’s the left fielder Lars Nbar one for three leading off for St louis the left fielder Lars Newbar that misses and that’s ball one foul ball there [Applause] [Music] [Applause] two and two [Music] that’s off the mark and the count’s full count is full that one misses so a lead off walk now batting now at the plate Mason win win first pitch just misses curveball kind of backed up on him there i think it just slid out of the hand a little bit too soon double play ball to second glove flip for one plenty of time at first that’s a double play really nice double play turn right there and it all started with that sweet glove flip on the feed to second you know these middle infielders they spent a lot of time honing that glove work so it just becomes like second nature i think you also have to have a really good glove that’s broken in that’s not too large so that you can have a feel for that baseball and be able to flip it like you’re bare-handed here in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike [Applause] strike two oh this guy’s so comfortable hitting with two strikes even a good pitch early in the at bat if he’s not ready to pull the trigger he’s not worried if he gets to an 02 count foul ball still 0 and two man this has been a real important inning in relief i mean so far they’ve been doing a great job holding that deficit at one at that stairs now one and two now a high-fly ball out to left center collins makes the grab and that’s the inning [Music] reese Hoskins to the plate a lot of times you’re looking for a guy to get that tying run on base but because of the power you want him to tie up the game with one swing here this to third aronado to first in time and the lead off intercept down to open the seventh that’s a huge defensive play in the late stages of the game it might not be the most challenging we’ve seen today but it needed to be made that’s helping your team collins up for the third time here watches that one miss swing and a highf fly ball in the air left field and a couple of quick outs the batter number two second base here’s the second base Rice Ter he’s grounded out a couple of times you know this is kind of a tough matchup as a left-handed hitter facing a left-handed pitcher what you tell yourself is I want to stay square to the plate try to hit the ball over the shorts stop’s head that’s a strike it’s 0 and one trying to keep good speed off the bases come on late swing fouled to the left looking to get the tying run on base swang and a miss struck him out and it’s a three up three down inning nobody left for Milwaukee they’re down two to one now pitching for So the Brewers bring on a new pitcher from the pen Aribe pretty tight game so they’re looking for quality pitches out of him right here got to do his best to keep the score right where it is well one game wilson Contrus now at the plate contras [Music] first off it just misses aribe a 63 righty he features a sinker a slider and he works in a fourseamer in there and so now one and two swing and a miss struck him out gasted right by him well he showed a lot of conviction with the fast ball there not just because of the velocity but also the ability to command it on the inside part of the plate the last thing you want to do with two strikes is just get too far in there and it gets away and hits the batter so when I see a two strike fast ball bunch up a guy like that it tells me there’s a lot of confidence in that pitch now it’s the right fielder Alec Burlson swinging a ground ball to two up two down here in the top of the eighth now batting third baseman Nolan Aronado two down base is empty and up next for St louis Nolan Aronado brewers that one in triple digits activity in the bullpen for the Brewers jared Kanig the lefty looks to be getting himself ready paul getting cranked up as well two down nobody on and we’re in the top of the eighth this guy’s not wasting any pitches hitters got to get into swing mode this is a good time to expand the zone throw something maybe down in the dirt that one outside that’s ball one and misses inside [Music] foul ball another 2-2 upcoming two outs and a swing and a miss and good work there as he gets a one two three red Birds down quietly but they still lead it two to one andre Gio on a pitch out of the pen here he’s making his second appearance of the season for the Cardinals number 83 Andre Grano now the third baseman has grounded out a couple of times third baseman Caleb [Applause] that one is absolutely felted and it one hops the wall as the tying run is forced to stop at second well no waiting around right there he was ready to swing it on the first pitch recognize the break on that pitch early and that allowed him to keep his front shoulder in you know it’s easy to bail on those front door breaking balls but a great job right there letting it travel then unloading a nice balance swing really important at bat coming up now at the plate joseph Ortiz that one finds the zone go and one out there to center pulls it in on the run and there’s one down nothing instills more confidence in a team than a center fielder who makes a great play like that on the run they can feed off the energy he brings just from his playmaking abilities digs in now and there’s no doubt that they’ll feed off the energy from this crowd right i mean yeah I’d say the intensity level has gone up a few notches for sure [Applause] and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike [Applause] two spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside really think the outer half is open swung on popped up left side aronado and there’s two away boy that was a hanging breaking ball right there i think he tried to do a little bit too much sometimes those eyes can get really big i think his swing broke down as well and that’s what caused him to pop it up now the number two hitter Jackson Torio he’s already homered here in this one first pitch doesn’t find the zone [Applause] that one catches the corner for a strike one ball one strike [Applause] there’s a strike well if he’s going to do something special right here it’s going to have to happen with two strikes ball well he might have to look for a different putaway pitch right here 22 he’s already seen the curve ball a couple of times in this at bat so might have it timed up and ready for it so the tying run at second chopped on the ground aronado on the run sends it over to first safe and that’s his third hit boom he doesn’t care how he does it he just wants to get on base and when he does that puts him in a position to do some damage put some pressure on the defense as well his wheels are truly a weapon out there high leverage spot and William Contreras digging in [Applause] and the first pitch misses for ball one big spot two out both the tying and go ahead runs are aboard and that one a little bit high tough spot right here couple runners on two ball count you can’t nibble but you have to execute and finish your pitch if you leave something out over the plate it’s going to bring in some runs outside and it’s three and0 this is a really good feeling for a hitter at this point in the ball game you know that they don’t want to walk you so you’re going to get a pitch to hit you just better not miss it [Applause] two on two outs swings and misses three balls and a strike [Music] [Applause] and that drops in for a strike 3-2 two out runner on first a lot of movement in the infield hitters got to stay focused on the pitch and that’ll load the bases walks out of the bullpin can absolutely kill your momentum very quickly some hot water trying to protect this lead big back coming up with Christian Yelich stepping in known for his late inning heroics boo this has been a good one a really good game to this point and huge opportunity with the bases loaded fast for a strike tough situation right here so important as a pitcher to get ahead in the count as he did right there [Applause] that one’s upstairs ball one so they’re all loaded up [Applause] just missed look in situations like these the air can get really thin up there at the plate got to find a way to breathe and slow everything down [Applause] [Music] on the ground right side contrarus takes it to the bag out to escape a bases loaded jam unscathed brewers leave them loaded and our score remains 2-1 here comes the new arm for the Brewers dl Hall bringing in the lefty with the left-handed hitter coming up to hit classic bullpen move right here so we’ll see how it works out [Applause] so digging in the second baseman Nolan Gorman first pitch misses movement in the bullpen jared Kanig up and throwing [Applause] in the air left field down the line and there’s one down outstanding catch right there and I love the commitment that he showed he knew that the wall was close but was determined to make that catch and a nice calculation of just how much room he had to try to minimize that contact [Applause] pahes stands in here takes ball one low one and0 one-run game here in the top of the ninth and there’s the strike one and one [Applause] falling behind two in one swing and a miss as he chases that one darting out of the zone base is empty one away here in the top of the ninth we got a full count foul we’ll see another payoff pitch clearly trying to stay back a little bit longer for that change up as he fells that fast ball back got him swinging pulled the string of the change up he’s really good hitting the baseball the other way so credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch clearly he had him fooled victor Scott next up for the Cardinals [Applause] not looking like they’ll be adding any insurance runs heading into the bottom of the ninth so it’s going to be on the bullpen to hold this lead two down on outside low yeah the count even one and one one and that’s downstairs and outside [Applause] that one a little bit high three and one now 3-1 [Applause] that one pushed foul out of play off to the left [Applause] swinging at a ball popped in the air he’s got it and that’ll end the inning so they go quietly there five six and seven will lead things off in the bottom of the ninth it’s the Cardinals two and the Brewers won ryan Hley on to try and close it out these are the spots relievers really make a name for themselves late and close there’s not much margin for error but at the same time there’s a reason they’re put in these situations [Applause] hoskins in the box here lets that one go for a ball the only adjustment he needs to make is his target if you aim at the outside corner that slider’s going to end up way off the plate perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it one-run game bottom nine [Applause] [Music] that one hit to right burlson on the move brings it in and a quick out number one that’s a big first out right there and that changes things yeah you can kind of see how just the hope and optimism is shrunk a little bit but they got a couple more outs to work with they got to find a way to get a runner on and get one around the bases collins up to bat next lays off for a ball [Applause] check swing called strike well so many hard throwing relievers in the game these days you would think that hitters have made the adjustment but I don’t know if you ever get used to it just pumping gas out of the bullpen so hard to play catchup swing and a miss and it’s one and two just not able to catch up to that velocity [Applause] swing and a miss he struck him out and they’re down to their last out see it more commonly in the sport these days but man a tripledigit fast blown right by someone is still pretty awesome to witness i mean you got to be geared up and ready to swing it when a guy like this comes out of the bullpen because that fast ball it eats and if you’re not ready you’re going to be walking back to the dugout so they’re down to their final out bryce Terra getting ready to hit go for three with two ground outs and a strikeout swings through that one for strike one 0 and one [Applause] and fouled off the Brewers down to their final strike that one not close and the count is one and two a oneun lead and the home team trying to pull it out that missed by a lot and now two balls and two strikes [Applause] [Music] [Applause] got it and that’s the ball game i’d say you’re lying if you say you don’t feel a fivegame losing streak this W definitely helps them relax a little bit and take some of the pressure off from it going to a six seven or even an eightgame losing streak and your final score here today 2-1 for Chris Singleton and our entire crew here at MLB the show thanks for stopping by i’m John Shami talk to you soon
