REPORTS: Phoenix Suns NOT EXCITED By Kevin Durant Offers From Rockets, Spurs and Heat
what the hell is going on with kevin durant i don’t know if we’re getting any clear answers but we’re getting a lot of them welcome into a trending mini pot edition for phnx suns the 10,000th one in the last two weeks it feels like because yes kevin will be traded from the suns and we know it will be soon but just how soon and to where we’re trying to figure that out and by we i mean i’m eric that’s stephen steven behind the mac making all of the magic happen we had you covered over the weekend a youtube exclusive video trending pod an audio exclusive trending pod on sunday covering all the latest with kevin durant but as it goes stephen there’s even more this morning how are you fairing through the seas of kevin durant trade rumors uh i tried to caution people last week and the week before that and the week before that with patience because there’s going to be news there’s going to be leverage being played through the media not by not because of the media but because of the information that they’re being fed to report and needless to say we’ve seen tons of conflicting information only three teams included all of a sudden toronto might be interested and might be viable all of a sudden memphis might have a inkling of interest all of a sudden other teams are popping up as well and then the next day it’s only three teams and then it expands to four just be patient yeah especially for me i got to take that because i did a victory lap on twitter on a report that the person literally went and changed and did a 180 on what they were reporting but that’s not what we’re here to discuss let’s break down some of the things that you mentioned even if we got to be patient there’s no harm in in just kind of unpacking and combing through what’s going on i think the big thing right now is brian windhorse reporting earlier this morning that out of the three teams that kevin durant reportedly wants to go to that’s miami that’s houston that’s san antonio the phoenix suns are not quote excited about any of those trade offers you mentioned leverage play stephen that’s exactly what i think this is phoenix putting it out there from their side of things saying “we are not happy with what you three teams are offering we need more we’ll leak that to the media and then let’s get you guys bidding against each other.” again that being said it could also be maybe the value of kevin ranch just isn’t where they want it to be where where do you stand on what wendy was was reporting earlier today it’s a leverage play for me i think one of those well i think two if not all three of those teams are leaving a specific player off the table that the suns are non-negotiable in terms of their internal conversations about probably kh it might be one of khell it might be one of jabari or tari and it might be one of stefan castle or the number two pick i think one of those is in specific the number two pick is the least likely understandably so unless it’s going to another team but i feel like from one or two of those teams one of those players we just mentioned is not being included so rather than saying that we like most of what we’re getting from offers we’re just going to make a general statement and make the competition level rise up to a certain point in terms of these teams and who they’re involved in in negotiations and until then the suns are going to continue to use the leverage that they do have in their favor yeah and i do think that those three specific teams there’s a reason why they’re being put out there because if kevin rance’s going to sign an extension with you you’re going to offer the most now there are other reports of wildcard teams obviously toronto’s been thrown in there uh minnesota has been reported zach low over the weekend saying they’re the leader of the pack in the buzz rankings it’s pretty widely reported that they are aggressive in wanting kevin durant but kevin durant is aggressive in saying that he does not want to go to minnesota obviously the three destinations that kd said he wanted to go to are all warm weather and tax-free states for income tax minnesota does not check either of those boxes when you talk about the the leverage in there maybe those players are being included right maybe wear is included maybe uh i don’t think castle’s included maybe the spurs are are the most stingy out of those 30 which i would imagine they would be and and houston possibly is willing to offer some more pieces it could also be a leverage play for more draft capital after you saw desmond bane now the the report that i mentioned that i i got duped on that went 180 on me was tim bontemp’s reporting that kevin durant would fetch more draft capital than desmond bane but then quickly changing that to he won’t be getting more draft capital than desmond bane maybe you’re putting this out there to up the value on that side of things a couple other reports for katie because it’s not just what wendy was saying uh let’s go to what sham said about minnesota and kd not wanting to go there if you’re minnesota and you saw what toronto did with kawaii and even toronto’s reported involvement right now in firing for a one-year rental would you still try to just get kevin durant even if he’s not committed to signing a long-term deal if i’m toronto if if you’re minnesota specifically because i think they’re in a more of a position to compete now than toronto yeah i well just off of anthony edwards alone i certainly agree um i think he’s worth it i think that i think kevin durant is a vibes guy and because of that i think that the synergy he would have naturally well already has with anthony edwards having not spent an actual season together just uh workouts together and obviously time with team usa i think he can be he can be enticed to want to stay because of the vibe and the synergy that might persist with him and naturally on the court that makes for a top three duo in the league immediately before any chemistry is built i think you can swoon him into that maybe if even if he comes in and he’s like i don’t know if i want to sign there or if he tells his agent rich kimman i’m not signing there long term he could potentially be swayed into looking on the other side of that agreed i mean i’ve never worried about kevin durant you know playing basketball for whoever trades him for what he’s under contract that being said i i think you said the same thing about kawhai with toronto toronto takes a swing it works out they win a championship i think it was a little different with toronto though i don’t think there was any chance that kawhi was and and company knew what they were getting themselves into but also knew they were getting one of the best players in the league with everything they already had as it was unfortunately for the rosenville all it took was the rosen and a few other things that didn’t take away from the main part of the roster so i think it was a little different there on that front but i get what you getting at i hear you couple other reports for kd and again we got a full show at 3:00 today on a monday mark stein joining us shane young joining us we’re answering all your questions for mailbag monday we’ll be doing a breaking news pod on phnx suns whenever this trade does go down we’ll keep you up to date with trending mini pods so we’re not going to dive too in depth on everything here but if you like what you’re hearing on audio hit that five-star review button make sure you’re subscribed to the audio feed if you’re new to the channel hit that like button subscribe turn notifications on we are a kevin channel right now bringing you around the clock coverage uh so to kind of wrap things up here on this quick hitting edition of phx suns mike scodto reporting that the suns are already exploring options about moving jaylen green to a potential third team or another destination if he is a main piece involved in a houston deal and then jake fischer reporting the suns are quote doing their homework on chrisap’s porzingis two very different players in very different scenarios when it comes to jaylen green stephen no surprise the suns would not want him to be a main piece alongside devin booker for the future uh yeah that shouldn’t be a surprise and i also think that i can’t imagine they want to bring him to phoenix so i imagine they try to do as much as they can to include a third team so that they don’t have to reroute him and do that leg work themselves if they can just have all of the ducks in a row and make it happen in one swooping transaction stamp i think they would prefer that i imagine that’s what they want as well and i can’t see the houston trade happening if he’s not included in some capacity so mostly for the money not for the value for the money not for the value yeah and i think he will be valued elsewhere more so than obviously here in phoenix but even where he’s at right now in houston now speaking of third teams i i haven’t really thought about boston too much i know we’ve talked a little bit about their potential involvement and obviously you know with the jason tatum news and and basically it being reported that everybody’s on the table uh they don’t want to trade jaylen brown but they’ll take calls for it and and then obviously derek wright drew holidayiday chris apps porzingis you’re not going to foot that bill if you’re not competing mhm i i don’t love chris daps if somehow he ends up here in a kd swap the the illness stuff really worries me but purely basketball-wise if he’s on the court uh good fit next to book and and would be a good piece i just i worry about the the long-term illness effects i’ll take away from the illness just cuz i can’t speak on it i tough right you don’t know if it’s going to linger right but i will say the illness part aligns with just availability in general that’s not something that’s been a strong suit for chris staps outside of that that’s literally the only weakness the only ambiguous part about bringing him into your team because when he is available you know that you’re getting a top flight rim protector you’re getting one of the most versatile centers on the defensive end that can do anything schematically that you want to ask him to do you want to cross match want to switch want to have him just play in in drop coverage he can do all of those things effectively at an above average level and then the offensive end just as elite as it gets at his position can pass can playmake can shoot obviously can screen can pop can roll can post up iso there’s nothing he can’t do on the offensive end so i think he’s as perfect of a centerpiece option-wise as you could add around devin booker issue is though what brings him down to earth is the health part of it yeah well it’s the health part and everything you mentioned was true of chris staps in the championship run for the celtics i will say and and i think the illness a really big part of this uh they felt not having him in the full capacity this playoff and when when he was on the court you you saw that they really needed him to be operating on that same level that he was operating at two postseasons ago and he just wasn’t so you got to hope that he gets back there at the end of the day we don’t know what’s coming back for kd we don’t know what the true value is a lot of it is leverage and again make sure you’re thinking about where you’re getting your sources from i mean wendy’s reliable shams is reliable flex is reliable gambo is reliable but reliable doesn’t always mean that that’s exactly how things are going to play out think about what the angles are why the suns would say they’re not excited about these deals that doesn’t hurt the suns if anything it helps them to try to push this trade value up let us know what you think where kevin durant ends up we’ll be unpacking so much more live shows monday through friday at 3 p.m for phnx suns guests like mark stein like shane young and more this week plus whenever it does go down you know where to go that’s right here on phnx sports with phnx suns so Suns about to drag this into next season 😂
KD to Raptors get the 9 in this years draft. Trade Booker to H-Town. Get our 10 back.
Trade Greyson for a low 1st.
Don't care where KD wants to go.. Trade him for best package
If there was better offers than the three teams he wants, they would have traded him. It’s all leverage to try and get one of them 3 teams to pay more and they won’t budge.
37 year old on a 1 year deal KD isn’t going to get you a deal that someone can trade for a more impactful younger player at the deadline. HOU and SAS don’t need to trade for KD, MIA needs KD more compared to those teams, but they don’t have great assets. KD is about to do to the Suns what Beal did to the Wizards.
The Visine Brothers, predicting and procrastinating, 24/7. If I was going to bet on your predictions, I’d be living in a cardboard box. Let’s just sit back and watch what happens and then critique as fans. By most accounts we are not going to receive back what we paid in for KD.
Green, Jabari, brooks & #10
Wolves are out… You do not trade for a player who absolutely doesn't want to be there. Wolves should know, they went through the whole Jimmy Butler experience.
Those offers are terrible
The problem is… nobody actually wants Durant.
His 37 😂😂 yal keep forgetting that smh
KD is still top 10 in the NBA and most likely will be for the next 3 years. He's worth more than what the publicly proposed deals are for but less than what the Suns paid for him. Suns front office is a disaster so expect less if you're a Suns fan
I don't give a F what KD wants. We are the PHX Suns!
As a Spurs fan, I honestly think a fair trade is the 14th pick, Barnes and Keldon. Call me delusional, but ain’t no way the Spurs front office is giving up the 2nd pick nor Castle.
Suns must be used to disappointment by now
That's the problem with having a GM with 0 experience. Nobody's taking him seriously.
Phoenix over-valued KD when they acquired him, and they over-value him now. Look, he's a scorer. Dominique Wilkins was a scorer. Didn't win a damn thing.
It’s also because bane didn’t go for four firsts, bane AND taking the KCP horrific contract is worth the four firsts. It’s hard to say how much just bane would’ve been.
ik the trade hasn’t gone down yet but can we give ishbia and gregory props for not taking these shit offers
As a spurs fan I would love KD on the team , the cold hard facts is Phoenix overplayed KD to acquire him at a better age . We put an offer up it wasn’t what Phoenix wanted we didn’t panic because we’re a first class organization we’re not going to throw away our young core for an aging star .
