this Cup final is unbelievable easily the best in recent memory as tonight we witnessed NHL playoff history on two fronts and while tonight maybe not the gong show of a game that was game three it was simply electric now coming into this one it was pretty much a must-win game four for Edmonton and if you remember last year game four that series made a turn skinner went on to be great from that game on mcdavid after a slow start came alive as the Oilers won three of four in games four five six and seven so back to this year fresh off of what was that embarrassing game three where the Oilers were completely humbled what was their response well while McDavid right out of the gate had a great chance it was all Panthers early once again florida outshot him 10-2 in the opening 10 minutes of play and while there were some mis calls in this period in my opinion the Oilers just have to be more disciplined they took three straight penalties once again in the first period so while Skinner who was by the way 6-0 in game fours and I mean look at these numbers pretty solid with Evander Kane surprise surprise taking the first penalty of the game and then just a minute into that PK Darnell Nurse now tripping up Barov to put the Cats on a five on three you can’t expect much else as Matthew Kachchuck right off the faceoff through traffic would score beating Skinner with a snipe as the Cats strike first again and the team that had scored first had won each game so smelling blood they continued to press and the Oilers up against the wall would take their third straight penalty eggol getting up on Marshand where the Cats would make easy work of it and score again as it’s Kachchuck again on the doorstep finding that loose puck he would make it two zip which was then followed up shortly after with Verhagy winning a battle finding Lundelle to make it three straight and this one came with just 42 seconds remaining as the Oilers really dug themselves a hole in the first teams were a perfect 37-0 when leading by three after the first they absolutely needed some of that comeback magic they’ve had so far this playoffs so sending a message Steuart Skinner was pulled to start the second and I guess message received because the Oilers were a completely different team in the second period they saw some great early chances for both Skinner and Bousard who drew a penalty on Bennett where Edmonton now with their first power play needed it and they got it dry side finding an open lane for Ryan NG and Hopkins and this was a big one suddenly a very different hockey game they now started putting some rubber on net as I thought Bobski had a really solid game himself but similar to Skinner in the first you can only do so much short-handed as the Panthers would get that penalty play back-to- back miners taken leading to them being outshot nine to one early on and so with seven to go nurse from Echome and he freaking snipes one beats Bob Brovski short side high and with it we now had ourselves a onegoal hockey game and when the Oilers are playing Oiler hockey they are so dangerous mcdavid slicing and dicing breaking ankles but is somehow stopped by Bob Broki another good save however ultimately the pressure was too much a loose puck and the Oilers would score again it’s Pod Coulson winning the battle and he beats Bob Rosski as folks just like that it was all even just a little while earlier on their own end Pickard was forced to make a huge save on Londell point blank and again Pickard just got it done and when he needed it Ekkom got it done as he stopped what was a sure hattrick goal on Kachchuck just a tremendous comeback period for the Oilers all around and while Dry Sidle did pick up a penalty towards the end of the second meaning Florida started the third up a man pickard picked up right where he left off making a few more solid stops in the opening five minutes as it became a bit of a goalie duel sergey Babrovski absolutely robbing Cory Perry for the go-ahad goal he was on the case just kicking him right and left back there but as we get to under 7 minutes to go now panthers turn it over kappa in for Walman and he scores as soon as I saw the wind up I just knew it it’s the fourth straight Oilers goal to completely erase a three-goal deficit and suddenly take a lead what is this series the script completely flipped on these Panthers but having said that with Bob Broski keeping them in it late in this game another good stop the Panthers would end up pulling him to go six on five and while there were a few times this game was nearly sealed instead in the dying seconds now it’s a bouncing puck that finds Reinhardt and he scores we were down to the final 20 seconds but Sam Reinhardt with his six of the playoffs would tie this game up as we’ve now seen the two latest gamet tying goals in Stanley Cup final history in two of the four games to start this series a series that for the third time was now headed to overtime it’s a crucial period and not 2 minutes in Oilers pushing puck loose again and how this stayed out I have no idea wow the Panthers then going the other way had an unbelievable chance themselves as Picker getting just enough it goes off the pipe and this one wasn’t over yet back and forth dry now and he scores of course it ends like this one-handed just shoveling it towards the net deflected I think off Mikola in front and with it Leon Dryidle officially has the most overtime goals in a single postseason in history teams were a perfect 37-0 when leading by three after the first as the Oilers not only being the first to break that streak also became the first team in 106 years to come back from a three-goal deficit and win on the road in the Stanley Cup final squaring this series up they now take back home ice advantage heading back to Alberta a gutsy gutsy win as the big story now is around Pickard does he get the net in game five you kind of got to think he does but you guys This is undoubtedly one of the greatest Stanley Cup Finals we’ve ever seen. In Game 4, we witnessed the Edmonton Oilers make NHL Playoff history becoming not just the first team in 106 years to comeback from a three-goal deficit and win on the road in the Stanley Cup Final series but also becoming the first team in NHL Playoff HISTORY to ever win a game after being down 3-0 in the first period. Teams were a perfect 37-0 when leading by 3+ goals through the first period, but that is no more. However, we also saw Reinhart score the 2nd latest game tying goal in Stanley Cup history behind only Corey Perry’s from Game 2. Even further, with Leon Draisaitl winning a thrilling game 4 in overtime, he became the player with the most Overtime goals in a single post season in NHL History. Truly, just an unbelievable series. Another major story line in this game, was Calvin Pickard coming in for relief of Stuart Skinner and winning a massive game 4 to tie this series at 2 a piece heading back to Alberta.
