Penguins seem like they are on a difficult trajectory. The 3 stars are going to fade to 0 mph with no 1st round picks in return. It seems like they are taking a 10 year drought and instead opting for a 15 year drought.
They should have traded him after Kuznetsov buried them in 2018.
Go to Anaheim or Chicago fug it. Or the loser of the stanley cup.
I would be surprised if he continues after next season if the Penguins don’t offer him another contract. He turns 39 July 31, so he’ll be 40 when the 26-27 season starts. He’s had a couple longer lower body injuries the last few years and he definitely does not have the same mobility he used to. That doesn’t mean he can’t still be effective in ways of course, but he’s definitely not as productive as he used to be. There’s been a lot of discussion in Pittsburgh about them trying to get a younger 2C this summer so they can move Malkin to the wing to alleviate some of the pressure on him. Depending on Malkin’s feelings(mental and physical) and Penguins situation overall, I don’t think it would be unlikely for them to be willing to do one more season, so long as the contract and player usage expectations are what the Penguins want. I don’t know that he’d want to go somewhere else for potentially one more season. It’s kind of been assumed(almost known) that he and Crosby had no intention of ever playing for another NHL team and when their time in Pittsburgh ended, so would their NHL careers. Now of course anything can happen and people can change their minds, but the feeling in Pittsburgh(both fans and the organization) has long been that neither of them ever wanted to play somewhere else.
They need to get rid of him now! Trade him for toilet paper if you have to. Or just cut him! I couldn’t stand watching him 10 years ago when he still had skills! Now it is just painful and awful.
If they get the Mckenna pic I swear to god
He hasn’t looked great the last year or 2, not surprising. Sid to the Avs.
I want Malkin as mentor for Demidov in Montréal, let’s do this!!
*Malkin*
“So hear me out….” 😼👑
I can hear Treliving salivating
I thought I remembered hearing that a while ago Pittsburgh was gonna tear it down, but the thinking was Crosby, Letang and Malkin would retire Penguins, no matter the cost
