GET UP | Cowboys camp is euphoric: Are Micah, Dak and Pickens the NFL’s most dangerous trio?

deal of all that’s expected to get done at some point this summer is from Micah Parsons who is expected to become the highest paid defensive player in NFL history whenever that deal gets done and both sides are working to make it happen it should get done at some point this summer and it will be a record setting deal and it will give the Dallas Cowboys the highest paid player in NFL history in Dak Prescott and the highest paid defensive player in NFL history in Micah Parsons you saw Jerry Jones talking to Michael Parsons there out there at mini camp wonder what they were talking about let’s go to Dallas now for Cowboys mini camp oh look at the tent there we got the star on the tent that’s cute little campfire dak Prescott is there he’s healthy finally as you see him right there on the field this from today now with another star receiver across from CD Lamb the George Pickins edition with a new head coach and Brian Shottenheimer figures to bolster this offense here’s more from Dak on the receivers it’s valuable CD being here i mean it’s hard to even put in comparison him being here the work we’re able to get versus last year versus uh him under the you know the contract negotiations u but just to have him here having these practices um getting off to a good start understanding each other what we’re trying to accomplish uh has been monumental and then obviously adding GP um something has been monumental and I’ve said it before uh when you bring in guys like that talented guys guys over the years that you look at their resume and they’re winning they’re I mean that’s credit to them they make that process of me getting to know them that much easier they know how to make good separation uh they know how to win at the ball uh for me it’s just about learning their bodies and um just make sure communicating a few things for them dak just spoke moments ago todd Archer our Cowboys reporter is out there at mini camp as well todd what stood out to you about watching Dak and this Cowboys offense now with these new additions yeah Laura a couple things really o over the entire off seasonason a lot more shifts motions things we had in team from the Cowboys offense and then speed george Pickkins talked about that on Tuesday there’s speed everywhere that can open up this scheme last year the Cowboys had just 47 pass plays of 20 yards or more compare that to two years ago and they had one of the best offenses in the league when they had 64 passes of 20 yards or more now remember Prescott missed the final nine games last year with that hamstring injury he’s been out there the entire time this off off season looks good he and Brian Cottenheimimer really looked to be jelling on on Wednesday uh Dak had five touchdown passes in team in seven on seven drills but let me get back to the receivers at the end of this month with Dak they’ll go on their summer retreat that they’ve taken here lately they’ll work out they’ll run uh they’ll do everything together get to know each other and that takes on more importance this year because Lamb is around and Piggins is new so by the time the Cowboys get to Oxnard for training camp they expect to be fully on the same page 100% yeah it’s a good point cd Lamb of course going through the contract stuff last year so wasn’t around as much with Dak you heard Dak referencing that as well thanks so much to Todd Archer the latest from Cowboys camp which is wrapping up today now we know the Cowboys struggled last season without Dak Prescott under center but they weren’t exactly thriving when he was healthy either in the first nine weeks before Dak’s injury the Cowboys still ranked in the bottom half of the NFL in scoring they also ranked 22nd in yards per play 24th in expected points added they had seven more turnovers than their opponents peter I love what Todd just said about shifts in motions that they’re seeing in this Cowboys offense we’ve been begging for some of that creativity when you look at this offense how much improvement do you expect next season i also love to hear what Todd had to say about Dak having both of those receivers there in June and then of course they’ll have time together this off season and they’ll hit the ground running come training camp look the stuff that I look at is George Pickkins and what he’s available to do and what he do came early every single day to this mini camp showed up performed and to hear Dak talk about it just minutes ago saying “GP has been phenomenal.” That’s the term he said here’s the quote from from Dak i’m just super excited that he’s on our team he’s one of us and he’s our brother now he’s all about continuing to grow and making sure he’s putting the best out there and that’s his approach remember guys 24 years old he’s had his reputation dragged through the mud you heard about him being late for practices late for games and being a sore spot in that Steelers locker room he can reverse that entire narrative become a free agent and hit the absolute jackpot if he is just on his best behavior and he does what he can do look the stuff you’ve been hearing about George Pickkins goes all the way back to his University of Georgia days he hasn’t been able to put it all together but he’s had a perfect spring with the Cowboys since arriving can he keep it going you know what reverse his reputation and and hit the jackpot that’s how we got Peter Shrager here at ESPN so I’m all for it whenever you have Dak Prescott using language like brother he’s already on nickname terms GP you know that they’re super excited and it should lift their offense this is a match made in heaven because even if you look at George Pickkins although he’s young he also doesn’t really know what it’s like to play alongside another bonafide wide receiver because he had to be a one and he hasn’t had you know much of a options on the other side to take some of that attention away with CD Lamb who also is starving for a great number two and for Dak Prescott it allows him to see the field allows defenses to play them honest and then you can really see and get the potential out of Dak Prescott that you know is there and what’s warranted him being the highest paid quarterback in the league listen this Dallas offense is going to undergo a lot of changes this upcoming season george Pickkins will be one of them they’re still looking to establish their running game they’re going to be leaning on Javvante Williams who they signed as a free agent jaden Blue who they drafted we all agree Trey will be right right but technically still 1% wrong for being under contract so in in my case I’m 100% right so it should be a no-brainer lewis uh look we Stewart is there he’s not doing any kind of drills but uh we heard his side of things in terms of the contract dispute it’s very weird for a first round pick to be in this situation what What does it look like from the team’s perspective look I Cincinnati’s not doing themselves any favors Dan i mean but the way in which they are handling the two sides of the football that being you know the way in which they handled the offense to make sure that you know Joe had all of his toys that he needed to continue to put up some big time eye popping numbers and play at a high level you know you got to commend Cincinnati for doing that the way in which they handle that the way they’re handling handling the defensive side of the football which is just continuously allowing good players to leave having guys like Trey Hendrickson who’s one of their best pickups in the history of the organization quite honestly with the way in which he’s produced have to sit there and kind of like basically beg through the media to be paid you know according according to his production it’s just ridiculous it’s not helping their helping their reputation at all and now Shamar Stewart the number 17 overall pick they keep it in Jacksonville the Washington Commanders have high hopes for 2025 after reaching the NFC Championship game in Jaden Daniels rookie season top wide receiver Terry McLaren is skipping mini camp while he looks for a new contract so that’s not great booger what what is the uh what’s the level of concern you have that Jaden Daniels top target is uh is not at mini camp yeah I mean on a scale of 1 to 10 10 being overly concerned I’m going to say about a two right now it’s June we got a couple practices before we go on summer vacation everybody goes to the beach takes their shirt off relaxes gets ready to get the gets their mind right ready to go once training camp starts once we get to training camp then I’ll get concerned because that’s when you really start putting your fine details together for the season you start getting your camaraderie getting that cohesiveness cohesiveness together right now in June I’m really not concerned you would love for him to be there i think he needs to be there washington also needs to pay him but as far as being overly concerned right now I’m not look I’m I’m I’m always concerned about these kind of things especially when you’re talking about a quarterback who’s going from year one to year two right what do we talk about with CJ Strad last year right and what do we talk about with all quarterbacks the fact that they’re going to have this sophomore slump teams get film on them blah blah blah all this other crap that we talk about well one of the things that can contribute to a quarterback taking a step back so to speak is again to not have the players around him that helped him burst onto the scene in the first place terry McLaren is crucial and I don’t care if it’s mini camp OTAAS I don’t care if it’s a walkth through in March terry nothing good comes from Terry McLaren missing any time with Jaden Daniels especially if you want to prevent Jaden from taking any kind of step back and I’m not saying it’s going to bleed into the regular season or anything like that i just want him around at all times because you know in RC you know as well as I do in the off season in these OTAAS and mini camps is when you experiment it’s when you really say hey look how can we find another inch another yard another way to burn these fools again in 2025 and take another step you want that time in that relaxed environment to really say “How do we level up one more time?” You just want all your guys around you i want all my guys around Jaden Daniels because Washington is on to something and I don’t want anything to derail what they got going on going on specifically as it pertains to Jaden Daniels development yeah and the big part about that Lewis hit right what’s going to happen on the field but I want to talk about what’s happening in the locker room what are the conversations that Terry McLaren a team leader right a natural good dude a allp pro bowl player how is he being handled when Jaden Daniels does call him and say hey man how how are negotiations going is he able to say hey look AP and DQ they say they’ll get it done they want me there possibly can communicating with my agent because the one thing that we do is have conversations when Troy was going through his contract stuff and he wasn’t out there as practice We were having a conversation every day about how his negotiations were going and based on what he told me that was my energy that was my attitude when I hit the field because I knew what he deserved and I knew what type of human he was and so as important as it is to get Terry McLaren on the field it’s also important to handle this in the way you handle people who were drafted there who’ve been developed there and who produced boo you had something real quick and and and to your point RC I think we’ve all been around teammates that have been in contract battles and we tell them we understand the business of what’s going on handle your business and when you get back on the field then we’ll pick this thing up and so I just want to paint the picture that even though we’re taking care of business we all support everybody in the locker room getting their money and of course time between now and training camp to get this done uh so it doesn’t bleed into that part of the season uh Jaden Daniels and Terry McLaren connected on 12 touchdowns last year the only wide receiver quarterback pairs that had more were Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase in Cincinnati and Jared Goff and Alman Ross St brown in Detroit and here’s something to look out for our Washington uh Commanders reporter John Kim saying that wide receiver Noah Brown injured and headed off the field on a cart during seven on seven drills so we’ll keep obviously an eye on that situation when ESPN networks big year coming up for Tua Tongo Baloa and the Dolphins who missed the playoffs last season for the first time under head coach Mike McDaniel they’re out there at mini camp today tua hoping the offense can bounce back after a down season i would say the longevity for me to be on the field with with my guys is more important than whatever that one play is you know you have you have more quarters than than there there would be with within just that one play that I’m trying to you know show the guys that you know I’m competitive and whatnot and I know they they know welcome back to Dallas Insider your one-stop channel for all things Dallas sports if you’re a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys or the Dallas Mavericks you’re in the right place we break it down keep it real and give you the latest updates and boldest insights on your favorite teams now while the Mavericks are heading into a new era post Luca yes you heard that right Luca Donuch is no longer in Dallas and we’ll talk about that shift in a moment today’s spotlight is shining bright on America’s team the Dallas Cowboys and Cowboys Nation let’s be honest the 2024 season left us wanting more especially when it came to running the ball but change is in the air new names are in the locker room and believe it or not the 2026 NFL draft might already hold the key to our next great offensive weapon the Cowboys entered the 2025 off season with one mission fix the ground game after a flatout disastrous year running the football it was time to make moves and that’s exactly what the front office did gone is Rico Dowley in his place Javvante Williams the powerful aggressive back from Denver who’s been looking for a fresh start and Miles Sanders the shifty vet with big play potential both are experienced both are hungry and both are on one-year deals meaning this is a prove it year for them and that’s going to fuel their fire but Dallas didn’t stop there the 2025 draft brought in two intriguing rookie backs Jaden Blue a fifthrounder out of Texas with burst and vision and Phil Mafa taken in the seventh who’s got size and strength for those tough yards together these four backs form a committee a strategy a bridge but not a permanent solution and that’s exactly why the Cowboys are already being linked to the top running back in the 2026 NFL draft Jeremiah Love out of Notre Dame now let’s talk about Jeremiah Love for a minute if you don’t know the name yet write it down because this kid could be the next great star to wear the star at 6’1 205 lbs Love is the definition of a three-own back in 2024 he rushed for,25 yards and 17 touchdowns flashing power elite vision and true breakaway speed and if early projections are correct he’s a Heisman finalist in waiting for the upcoming college season pro Football Network’s Brenley Weissman recently published a mock draft where he had the Cowboys selecting Love in the first round calling the Dallas Cowboys current running back room the weakest in the NFL harsh maybe but not inaccurate here’s the thing the Cowboys offense works best when we establish the run period that’s when Dak Prescott gets into rhythm that’s when play action becomes lethal that’s when our O line can impose its will adding someone like Jeremiah Love could finally bring balance to this offense not just as a temporary spark but as a long-term foundation and while we’re talking about transitions let’s not forget what’s happening over at the American Airlines Center the Dallas Mavericks are entering a bold new chapter with Luca Donuch no longer on the roster it’s the era of Anthony Davis in Big D that’s right the former Lakers superstar is now leading the charge for the Mavs bringing his elite defense post presence and veteran leadership to a roster hungry for success what do you think Mavs fans can Anthony Davis be the piece that finally takes us over the hump in the West or was parting ways with Luca a mistake we’ll come to regret it’s a major shift for Dallas sports overall two franchises with new identities big expectations and fan bases that are as passionate as they come so Cowboys fans here’s where we stand we’ve patched the running game for now we’ve got capable backs who can grind it out but if this season plays out the way many are predicting the Dallas Cowboys could be perfectly positioned to draft a generational talent at running back in 2026 jeremiah Love could be that missing piece he could be the new engine for a balanced dominant Cowboys offense and help bring this team back to true Super Bowl contention but now I want to hear from you do you think the Cowboys should go allin on a running back in next year’s draft do you believe in Javvante Williams and Miles Sander as stop gap solutions or can one of them rise and take over that RB1 spot for good and what about the rookies does Jaden Blue have sleeper potential drop your thoughts in the comments let’s get the conversation going i’ll be reading through all of them and as always the best takes might just get featured in 1. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ i’ve been a cowboy fan since 84. It never took this long to figure out what type of player you have. I really don’t know what you guys expect Prescott to do because he missed nine games last year. You’re telling me he took a step forward this year because he lost some weight.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ food for thoughtπŸ€”πŸ˜ŽβœŒοΈ cowboys for life
