He was atrocious during spring training and Paris looked like the second coming of Aaron Judge at the time so I kinda get the move, but his lefty bat could help our lineup out right about now(and Paris is hitting .194 in AAA).

Hindsight is always 20/20 though, can’t really complain I guess. I’m just missing one of my favorite halos right now.

Small sample, but here’s stats compared to some of our everyday/platoon guys.

  1. Yeah, Soler isn’t great, but Moniak wouldn’t be doing as well with us. His home/away splits are pretty significant. Playing at Coors is definitely pushing his numbers up. He’s slashing .209/.236/.608 away from Coors.

  2. As decent as those stats are, you have to remember 3 things.

    1. Coors Field is 100% helping those stats out

    2. He’s on the Rockies, who are 15 and 57, a .208 win rate. For comparison, the White Sox win rate last year was .253.

    3. He was excess goods with Ward, Adell, Trout, and to some degree now Paris. Also, he was a very poor batter last season, and his fielding wasn’t buying him much fortune either.

He will, unfortunately, probably go down as one of the biggest 1st overall pick flops/ busts ever.

That being said, I will miss shouting “The Best Mickey in Anaheim!” When he goes yard.

  3. I remember I hit a extra inning walkoff homerun in game 6 of the World Series and beat the Reds 4-2 with this dude in The Show 😎 I always thought he’d be part of the future for Anaheim

  4. What’s Moniak’s current WAR?

Not saying Soler was a great get but at least he’s got a track record of production.

Moniak has had a very disappointing career being the number overall pick.

And this isn’t a one guy to blame thing. O Hoppe for some reason gets a pass for being absolutely dogshit for a month or so now.

  5. Moniak would definitely fit into the category of “fan favorite bad player”

  6. Never knew Mickey’s actual name was McKenzie Matthew Moniak. Wonder how he got the name Mickey

  7. They’re both terrible choices. Can’t we have guy batting 270 at least or even 260
