UPDATED Dallas Cowboys 53-Man Roster Projection After Cowboys Minicamp

[Music] with Cowboys mini camp in the book it is time for an updated 53man roster projection as we’re a month and change away from training camp and I think mini camp helped show this too there are some tough calls at the back end of the roster of who actually makes it for the Cowboys now if you are excited about Cowboys training camp this year which I’m a lot more excited than what I was last year show it by liking the video for me please and thank you right now we’ll go position by position the quarterbacks are pretty clear pretty straightforward it’s Dak Prescott it’s Will Greer it’s Joe Milton who ends up being the game day active quarterback too I don’t know is actually set in stone we’ll see a lot more Milton in the preseason which gives us something to be excited for as well by the way but these are your three QBs running back was tougher sorry Dvon we’ll talk about Phil Mafa later on in the show too i’m gonna go with Javvante Williams Miles Sanders Jaden Blue and what really is a committee that I think all those guys are going to get chances are going to get touches are going to get looks and then Hunter Lipkkey I think is a is maybe the most secure in his roster of everybody i think Jaden Blue makes it as a draft pick as a fifth round pick but Lipkkey can play fullback can do short yardage back stuff can play tight end helps on special teams he’s a true four down player i think the addition of Lipkkey should also allow you to go lighter at tight end i don’t know if the Cowboys need to carry four tight ends and a fullback although that is a possibility which we’ll get to that side of the projection here in a second but I want you guys to let me know your overall confidence level in this currently as constructed Cowboys running back room scale it for me from 1 to 10 one on the low end 10 on the high end sound off in the comments of today’s show over to wide receiver i think there are a lot of locks here cd Lamb obviously George Pickkins obviously Jaylen Tolbert’s going to make it cavonte Turpin is a lock i think Jonathan Mingo with the investment level and the contract is pretty much a lock as well i only went five i went six on my last one i kind of waffed up taking another defensive player uh instead the hardest cut in the end for me was was Ryan Fenoy and he the Cowboys might want to take five receivers and I think they can stash Fenoy in the practice squad which we’ll get to at the end of today’s show by the way we’ll do a practice squad projection but Fenoi and Brooks and those UDFAs and Craropper and Paris Campbell it’s it’s a little bit dicey and I think because you have Pickkins barring injury maybe you don’t feel like you have to go as deep at the wide receiver spot tight end I’ll go with these three jake Ferguson Luke Scoon Maker Brevin Span Ford sorry Princeton fan I focused on you know other positions instead of note and we’ll see this a few more times throughout today’s show uh the addition of John Stevens Jr not I I’m going to project not healthy for week one so he ends up being the old you know stash him on IR and you know maybe he comes back later in the year but also you know probably not so kind of cheating the game with the numbers there and just pretending he’s not going to be healthy enough to make the active roster offensive line I did go one lighter here as well for my last prediction there are a lot of locks here tyler Gayton Tyler Smith Cooper BBE Booker Terrence Steel Brock Hoffman Robert Jones’s contract probably gets him on here and I’ll go with Austin Richards and Ajani Cornelius the youngsters over veterans like Hakee Denai and Sadiq Charles and I’ll only go nine and I have a trade predicted in here too i’m going to trade away TJ Bass who I like i think is a good player i think could also probably get you something on the open market or in the trade market because he’s shown he’s able to play a little bit with all their extra offensive line depth and only the practice squad too which maybe isn’t realistic but playing the numbers game here i’ve got a TJ Bash trade and you know maybe it’s only a seventh round pick maybe you invert the disastrous Travarious Ward for Parker Aringer trade and you go get a corner or a defensive tackle but I think someone like Bass could actually bring you something competent back elsewhere on your roster we asked you earlier we’re going to ask you again please like the video we are in a June like battle against the 49ers we’re down like 2,000 yesterday have almost closed that gap entirely we are now just a little under 200 behind do me a favor and like today’s show let’s hit the defensive tackle room and I I think it’s four i think it’s Oso Dezua Mazy Smith Solomon Thomas they’re all going to be the theme i’ll give the edge to Jay Toya over Justin Rogers i almost projected a veteran signing i I just I don’t know who it would actually be i am a bit worried about the defensive tackle room might do a whole video on that frankly but I’ll go with those four because you can go deeper at edge and have some guys kick inside i think Marshon Neely can kick inside i think Pton Turner can kick inside if you need to i don’t know if Sam Williams is going to be be big enough but you could do some NASCAR packages and have three edge rushers on the field at the same time micah Dante Fowler Donovan Ezrau Marshian are all guaranteed roster locks i think Sam Williams Pton Turner barring injuries for themselves or a trade or something should feel pretty darn safe all right linebackers i went heavier here and I guess I’ll drink the Kool-Aid a little bit for the Deone Clark buzz that was coming out of OTAAS in mini camp uh Dearan Overton will not be healthy week one so we’re going to cheat and not count him against the 53 man rash limit will be on the pupir list kenneth Murray Jack Sanborn Murice Leaf out i’ll put Deone Clark on there i will say by the way decent chance if he does make the roster there’s a pay cut involved and he goes I’ll cut my $3 million salary to 1.9 and guarantee it so he gets it all shear James uh I I think makes the roster he’s a bit nicked up i haven’t heard what the details are there yet probably minimal but he makes it as a fifth round pick and I’ll put Justin Baron on here for special teams it matters that that’s how you make it as the 53rd player or so or the 47th player and you get to be the 44th guy 44th guy in the game day roster baron of note is the only undrafted free agent I have on this roster projection elijah Clark I thought about but it gets kind of challenging to to juggle that and make that that one happen uh in terms of the undrafted free agents that safety room doesn’t m doesn’t make sense to me so how many undrafted frayens do you think end up making the Cowboys roster let me know in the comments of today’s show we’re going to cheat at corner as well here diggs Josh Butler we’re going to put them on the IR pup candidate list so it’s Don Bland Kier Elum Savone Rebel who I going to project is healthy for week one kalin Carson and Israel Muamu as kind of a nervy group if the young guys the additions don’t step up and digs or Revel don’t get healthy quickly so a little bit nervous about that core as well let’s go to safeties malik Hooker Juan Thomas is more of like the free safeties donovan Wilson Maris Bell is more of the strong safeties they’re all going to make the team it’d be weird if they didn’t there could be a fifth but you know this is kind of like I’m going to put Elijah Clark in the Julius Wood category of like yeah we like it we make the roster but you know tough to see him squeezing on in and maybe he gets claimed maybe he does not in most cases guys do make it through the practice which we get to here in a little bit by the way we are 258 subs away from 217,000 here on the Cowboys report so help us get there youtube.comcowboys TV all right the roster projection on special teams brandon Aubrey Brian Anger Trent Sig and I did cave and put TJ Goodwin on there they always put him on the active roster you could do the practice squad game with him but you’re going to have more issues when you got guys coming back from injuries so I’ll just put him on there for now but I do wonder just how much more he’s got left in the tank some notable cuts then some practice squad projections we’ll discuss here jaylen Brooks the wide receiver Matt Wletkco Hakee Denise City Charles again it I think those guys have enough experienced andor draft pedic slash maybe they want to go somewhere else like if you’re WL let’s go maybe want to go somewhere where you think you got a chance to actually make a practice squad or something kind of like what Josh Ball ended up doing or be a roster player andrew Booth uh the quarterback as well i’m kind of over that experiment you still won it because Deshawn Wright got cut mid-season slash didn’t make the roster but I think that race is mostly been run so predictions who is the best player the Cowboys will end up cutting we’ll get to some other cuts that I have on the practice squad here in a second but drop that name or names if you’re an overachiever in the comments all right offensively I’m going to put both Phil Mafa and Deuce Vaughn on the practice squad the dra the players you draft always give me most pause of like are they going to make it to the to the practice squad as a seventh round pick um I I I think they’ll be able to squeeze him down there both Mafa and Duce Vaughn ryan Fenoy again there’s some draft pedigree which makes it a bit dicey but I can’t fit all three of those guys on the roster good stuff paris Campbell I think I think is actually a good practice squad projection of like emergency insurance if something happens to Cavonte Turpin like Campbell can do some of the Turpin role stuff i know there are some big fans of Tayan Holden i am not as convinced he makes it given his investment on the practice squad but his receiver coach in college is still here so I think that actually is worth mentioning two tight ends raldo Farweather who I think the Cowboys have some love for they always have love for undrafted free agent tight ends don’t they princeton Fant made the roster as an undrafted free agent i’ll put Nathan Thomas on here by the way also a draft pick this is like what I’m talking about when I mean like there’s a lot of depth like the 50 to like 80 man on this roster is deeper than what I think it’s been in most years that also includes a pair of recent seventh round picks Tommy Akbas and Justin Rodgers denzel Daxon by the way is an international player pathway program uh eligible player so he does not count on that 16-man practice squad limit tyrus Wheat Buddy Johnson are good special teamers good guys to have as emergency options on the practice squad kaman Hall I think did some decent stuff late in the year on the practice squad he’s an option nickel guy troy Pride’s a bit got a bit more experience so I went with him over Andrew Booth and then two safeties Elijah Clark and Mike Smith with apologies to Zion shoulders the other UDFA safety who got left out [Music]
