🔴LIVE 🔴Houston Astros VS Oakland Athletics / June 17/MLB the show 25

asked about Rego and our pitcher tonight Jeffrey Springs what’s a scouting report on him well he’s been a very dependable starter for his club and what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 against him and it just tells me they have a hard time tracking the baseball maybe it’s the release point maybe it’s the motion but just some way somehow they’ve got to figure out a way to pick it up and try to have some success from the left side jeremy Pñena the leadoff batter as he looks at ball one first pitch 707 and that one fouled off that finds the mark on the inside corner [Applause] next offering is down low just missed really good take especially with two strikes foul we’ll see another payoff pitch got him looking that’s a strikeout well even though he strikes out he saw a lot of pitches and he battled plus he gave the guys behind him an opportunity to see more from the pitcher not the result he wanted but that’s still a good at bat and here’s the catcher Yiner Diaz in for a strike 0 and one one down base is empty that one called a strike and it’s 0 and two he doesn’t seem to like to pitch up hasn’t offered on either one of those pitches 02 count now i think the guy’s going to climb the ladder out there that one misses now one and two just not taking the bait right there but a good pitch with two strikes and that’s way high now two and two one out base is empty inside almost got him well struck left field anded one hops the wall around first heading for two and that’s a double well a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle we saw the numbers coming into the ball game but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win so the go-ahehead run in scoring position jose Altuve up next for the Astros swinging a foul straight back diaz over at second one down jeffrey on the ground and that’s just foul [Applause] and a foul ball stays alive i wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball try to go again with a fast ball slightly elevated he just having a hard time catching up man at second swinging a miss that one in the dirt wins down to first with it gets the out two down after the strikeout stood absolutely no chance on that slider right there and I don’t mean to laugh but that’s a tough one i mean pretty much a perfect strikeout pitch i mean it looks like a fast ball middle in kind of has cutter action and it just bunches you up to where you can’t get your hands through and the that’s the third out so the Astros leave one and the A’s will get their first opportunity in a scoreless ball game you’re dialed into the show back here with my pal Singi and on the hill Brandon Walter well he’s been a real quality starter for his club and coming into this one what stands out for me is that right-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 on the year it seems that they have a hard time picking up his release point and tracking the ball into the zone so we’ll see how right-handers do against him in this one lawrence Butler leading things off and takes a strike that one fouled off fouled off and they’ll do it again that wasn’t an easy pitch to hit it’s much easier to do damage against mistakes but that’s not what that pitch was swing and a miss struck him out so up next Jacob Wilson just missed in there for a strike at the top of the zone next offering upstairs on the ground to third slings to first and two quick outs in the bottom of the first here tonight and time now to check out the A’s lineup this an offense Chris that’s having a hard time scoring runs right now yeah sometimes things just aren’t going to click and unfortunately what happens is players press they try to do a little bit more and they get out of their game you’ve got to let the game come to you if you chase it it’s going to run from you so this is a team that just needs to calm down relax and understand that they’re going to come out of this brent Rooker the next to hit takes ball one way to lay off that fast ball up right there you’re looking for something you see well that you can handle but you also have to keep the discipline so that you’re not popping up pitches that are just a little too high just so sound in his mechanics hits against a firm front side and the hands just continue to carry through the middle of the field here’s the catcher austin wins that one’s in there go and one what’s down in the air out toward towards left center and that’ll do it what was that the A’s strand one we played an inning no score and we’re back and now Jake Meyers singing he’s never finished the season with more stolen bases in his entire career and that gets the top of the zone for a strike that fast ball even though it’s up that’s the velocity you want to go after low 90s a lot better than trying to hit the high 90s slashed foul down the right side that’ll hook off into the seats swings through it and that’s a strike out he’s really good hitting the baseball the other way so credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch clearly he had him fooled now at the plate Cam Smith and there’s the strike [Applause] check swing tried to hold up now an appeal to first and that’s a swing according to umpire Mike Filillmore come on Jeffrey to third muny fires across the diamond two up two down in the top of the second batting seven left fielder Cooper Hmel cooper Hmel now at the plate looking for his first big league hit right here and takes low for ball one a bit behind with that swing it’s strike one i think he was sitting off speed there this one in the air wilson makes the play and it’s out number three astros are down quietly we’ll go to the bottom of the second no score and welcome back to the ballpark now max my [Music] Walter back to work fast ball for a strike well we call that keyholeing even though it’s right there and looks pretty good if he doesn’t love it he’s not going to swing that early in the count ripped but a curls foul funky monkey just off the inside corner and the count one and two his understanding of the strike zone very impressive that was a very close O2 fastball i just don’t know how you take that next pitch misses outside ball two fouls that off to the left and we’ll do it again oh good solid contact right there just a bit out in front of that fast ball got to try to stay on that backside just a little bit longer and see if you can do some damage next pitch is outside goes down looking nick Kurt up next for the A’s there’s a strike that one missed kenny Jansen doing home play duties in this one not a huge strike zone from Jansen so he can’t really be called a pitcher umpire but he does like the bottom part of the strike zone we may see some pitchers steal a few strikes down there especially the ones right below the knees that’s if their catcher can present it properly one down base is empty strike three and that’s two to row that’s tough you see it well i mean that was clearly up and out of the strike zone but that’s one of the hardest things and when you see a pitch out of the hand at eye level that discipline to remember I can’t hit that pitch if I can see it really well at eye level I can’t catch up to that pitch when a pitcher’s got this kind of velocity and a swing and a miss there more and more guys are looking to slog regardless of the count and this situation will keep a close eye on his approach swing and a ball drilled in the air towards right center field smith makes the grab and that’s the inning we’ll move to the third with no score well here we go top of the third scoreless game here’s Mauricio Dub duban measures six feet even 30 years old now and he was born in Honduras swinging a foul straight back swings over the top of that one battling here as he fouls it away and the one two misses to even the count got him swinging here’s Luis Gior [Applause] up the middle lays out but he can’t squeeze it no throw and he’s on at first now batting short stop so the Houston lineup turns over and next to hit for Houston Jeremy Pñena that one clubbed out towards left center that’ll be extra bases rounds third headed for the plate the relay and he’s out absolutely perfect execution of the relay right there to cut him down at third and he probably should have shut it down at second base and been happy with the double but it took a great play to get him you just have to tip your cap so next up for Houston Yiner Diaz just off the inside edge and another ball looks like he’s being a little cautious with him in this at bat after doubling the first time up doesn’t want to make another mistake whacked out to center field that’s well struck that’s back there going gone [Music] and they add a run it’s two nothing he absolutely crushed that one no doubt about that one Boo we knew it wasn’t coming back with a low 90s fast ball you have to live on the edges and hit your spots if you don’t you’ll get hit hard really good swing there patient waited for it it was like BP all over again two outs nobody on here’s the former MVP Jose Altuve and first offering is fouled off base is empty two away but two runs are in we’re here in the top half of inning number three gets under and pops it up urias settles under this one and he makes the catch and that is that but two runs for him and they jump ahead we head now to the home half of inning number three it’s the Astros two and the A’s nothing ready to go for the last half of the inning now the left fielder JJ Blade jj Blade after scoring runs this is where you’re looking for that shutdown inning get that hot team back in there to swing the bats swing and a miss strike one well the key to his success is getting ahead early in the count he cannot afford to go deep in the counts doesn’t have a ton of swing and miss stuff so he’s going to have to work efficiently fouled off left side two balls two strikes the count [Applause] That one down the line and it goes just foul and a swing and a miss he’s notched four strikeouts now and now the center fielder Denzel Clark swing and a miss strike one bunting for a hit can’t pick it up with the bare hand safe at first no play we’ll see how they score this he was racing down the line and probably didn’t assume he was going to be safe until his foot hit the bag and looked up for the umpire nice bunt and great hustle to get himself a knock so the batting order turns over lawrence Butler up next for the A’s he struck out swinging at his first atbat now a screamer into the outfield smith snags it for the second out now batting number five Jacob Wilson up next for the A’s grounded out his first time up lemo for him is contact a guy who’s going to deliver average not a ton of power he’s looking to hit a line drive somewhere well that’s why it’s a team and when you look at a lineup he’s a great two-hole hitter or a guy that you could put at the bottom to help turn that lineup over to have some momentum for your top hitters coming up to the plate swaging a ball hit out towards left center field touches down that’s a hit coming home and he’s out cut down and that ends the inning always exciting to see a play at the plate trying to score with two outs but the tag just gets him in time and they cut down the run to end the inning and we’re back all set for the start of the inning vic Keratini at the plate and that is in for a strike and it’s 0 and one right through there for a strike 02 count both pitches on the inside part of the plate hitter is thinking I don’t want to get beat here this is a good time for something off speed away this one popped up foul ground first base side curts calls it in and there’s one away now batting center fielder Jake Myers and now Jake Meyers feels like it’s less common today that you see a guy like this the speed component the contact component but lack of power right side hard hit move it move it move it the to first in time two quick outs here in the top of the fourth now batting number 11 two out space is empty and stepping in for the Astros Cam Smith and first off is fouled off way high he just has to understand that his skill set is unique and he’s very valuable for any ball club if he does that he’ll play a long time in this league and that one is in for a strike good pitch still two and two after the foul ball two down nobody on top half of inning number four gets a piece and stays alive wow this guy’s really battling up there as if his run is the game-winning run i love his tenacity on the ground right side fires over to first and it’s a one two three inning nothing doing there for Houston but they hold a two nothing lead and welcome back to the ballpark bottom four and here is Brent Rooker rooker hard ground ball base now so a runner aboard to start the inning well clearly he was ready to hit right there he wasn’t able to elevate it but he put a great swing on it right on time good balanced approach and just blasted it through the infield austin wins up next for the A’s and that’s through there for a strike it’s 0 and one swings through that one for strike two with two strikes may see some movement over there at first base trying to stay out of the double play right here good eye right there man oh man i don’t know how you take that pitch that’s as close as it gets line drive caught that swing right there tells me he’s seeing the ball pretty well i know it didn’t produce a hit but he made solid contact and that’s all you’re looking to do anytime you’re at the plate now the third baseman Maxy definitely wants to stay out of the double play here ball on the ground in the infield should be an inning ending double play bounced to third grabs it bare-handed to first and they get the out he was out early today working on that very play so two down now and here is Nick Curts his first at bat was a strike out there’s the swing and a miss so runner in scoring position and now the tying run comes to the plate we’re here in the bottom of the fourth left-hand hitter waits spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another foul ball it stays nothing and two and a swing and a miss now five strikeouts for him on the mound the A’s strand one they’re still down it’s two zip cooper Hmel up next for the Astros left fielder Cooper Hmel come on baby let’s go springs back to work right through there for a strike swing and a line drive slicing into right field drops into the glove one down now batting second base mauricio Dubon up next for the Astros went down on strikes his first time through and the pitch is outside ball one he’s controlling things out there on the mound not messing around at all he’s been in attack mode since the very start swing and a highf fly ball out towards right field he’s there he’s got it and a couple of quick outs now batting third base luis Gor the next to hit reached on an infield single his first time misses just off the outside edge i think that was a strike two outs base is empty next offering is in for a strike and that skips in the dirt that one pushed foul out of play off to the left two down nobody on knocks that one away and we’ll do it again spoils that one and it remains two and two athletics sends it to first and that is the inning so they go quietly there home half of the fifth coming up it’s the Astros two and the A’s nothing we head to the bottom of the fifth here’s Luis Orias well these fans definitely want to get involved in the game all it’s going to take is to get the leadoff man or even a base runner on fought off foul how about this one Boo in 2023 Aras hit grand slams for Boston in back-to back plate appearances they happened on different days but he still became the first Red Sox player to do it since Jimmy Fox in 1940 way inside gets out of the way straighten him up a little bit swing and a popup foul territory for the catcher diaz hauls it in and there’s one away good hard fast ball up in the zone right there they look really good coming in but so hard to get on top of as a hitter this is JJ Blade he was a strikeout victim his first time that pitch in for a strike and one oh he’s looking great so far it helps when over 80% of your first pitches are strikes he might be able to go the distance if he keeps this up late that time and it’s strike two quickly in an 02 count you’ve got to figure out a way to shorten your path to the baseball put it in play somewhere then you got a chance bases empty one away last half of inning number five swing and a highf fly ball well struck left field that’s bat leaping and he brought it back rob’s a potential solo shot right there that’ll fire your team up but even more so the player i’m excited to see how they respond so digging in Denzel Clark hard hit to third gior to first the A’s go quietly and one two three go the A’s and they’re down two nothing and we’re back all right we go to the top half of inning number six here’s the Astros leadoff man Jeremy Pñena and the first offering is not close activity in the bullpen number 49 getting loose out there sears a left-hander also throwing grips one to right and foul ball he swings and fouls one off swaying at a ball popped in the air and it stays fair now he turns and heads for second the throw in not in time that’s a leadoff double hey whatever works right doesn’t have to be impressive he clearly didn’t catch that one on the big part of the bat just kind of muscled it out there and you know on the mound it can be pretty frustrating for a pitcher but you just kind of have to expect those to drop in there sometimes and here comes Mark Katse as he’s ready to make a change and go to the bullpen jeffrey Springs done for the night and he kept them in it even though he’s in line for the loss right now new arm when we come back jp Sears gets handed the rock out of the pen and that’s a big potential run out there at second as he comes in trying to keep the deficit where it is for the infielders they got to be thinking about keeping the ball from getting by them into the outfield any way they can and now the catcher comes up to him Yiner Diaz he blasted one out earlier in the third just a solo home run but an important swing of the bat in this game we’ve already seen him do it once can he do it again off the mark there one and0 runner in scoring position nobody out and we’re the top half of the sixth that’s off the inside corner and it’s 2 and 0 late swing fouled off that one in for a strike two and two pñena at second with nobody out [Applause] got him looking as the fast runs back over the inside corner oh just a beautiful fast ball on the inside corner for that backwards K right there i think the hitter saw it all the way coming from that opposite arm angle so I got to think he was looking away and just got locked up by the heartst boring in on his hands jose Altuve up to hit here b for two in this one he’s trying for third throw to third save figure it out one away with a runner at third swing and a tapper that rolls foul come on the lefty ready and a one-1 right through there for a strike foul ball another two- two upcoming runner on to third one gone fights it off he’ll see another and there’s a ball drilled out towards left center field that one back hops over the wall and that’s an automatic double and a run comes in to score he puts a great swing on that pitch and drives home the run and that was always going to be a double but the bounce over the wall just took the guesswork out of it right away it was a nice swing and now the first baseman Victor Keratini first pitch just misses and that clips the inside corner fouled off down the right side [Music] man at second fouls it off still one and two really great change of speeds he goes off the off speed to the fast ball and the hitter doesn’t know what’s coming next fights that one away still one and two that’s foul off to the right side keeps the AB going got him he didn’t make it easy for him on the mound but they still get the strike out that was a pretty fun at bat right there but you kind of hate to see a long battle like that end on a questionable call i think he was right and letting it go frustrating result after he fought so hard at the plate jake Meyers up next for the Astros let’s go fast ball gets the corner at the knees two outs foul ball there next offering upstairs well he missed badly with that O2 fast ball hitter has to understand probably wants to try to put him away with that pitch so got to stay ready for it swings and miss has struck him out so they pick up a run on two hits no errors and a man left top of the order do up in the home half of the six it’s the Astros three and the A’s nothing bottom of the six now here’s the leadoff hitter for the A’s Lawrence Butler lawrence Butler butler goes 6′ 3 in 24 years old he’s usually in right field but today he’s getting the DH treatment next pitch a slider that misses outside well a nice day off for him not having to jog out to the outfield gets to be in the D8 spot be curious to see how he keeps himself in a rhythm not playing defense and that misses upstairs now three and 0 that one misses so a lead off walk maybe a little loss of focus on the mound right there pretty much gifted him first base with a quick free pass jacob Wilson up next for the A’s wilson having a really nice first season in the big leagues definitely a rookie of the year candidate [Music] now these guys definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here try to close that gap but you know at the very least if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first it feels like it’s really important to getting back into this ball game ground ball left side and that’s just fouled to the right side oh can’t pick it up cleanly keratini over to second to first not in time great effort there well that was clearly a double play ball but the bobble unfortunately prevented him from being able to get two but a good job to stay with it and make sure you got at least one let’s keep it going [Applause] [Applause] that one ripped left field and gone that’ll fire up the dugout his 16th homer of the year and they throw a pair on the board it’s 3-2 he only needed one swing to square it up not wasting any time in that at bat boo aggressive and it paid off [Applause] when you have a team that hits home runs at such a high rate they can get back in the ball game so quickly that’s why that leadoff walk was extremely costly and next will be the cleanup hitter austin wins [Applause] just missed still only one out here in the inning try to get him to chase on the change up that time Walter maybe a little less aggressive on the mound right now after that home run Chris yeah it seems that way you know guys they can come out feel good but then all of a sudden get touched up a little bit and they start trying to throw instead of pitch they’re not trusting their stuff and a foul ball well he’s been good for the most part is it going to take someone going out to the mound to maybe refocus him a bit well partner every pitcher is a little different i I liken it to you sometimes you come in and you’re not as focused and I kind of do what it takes to get you on track and then you have a great show uh so perhaps it’s the same with him nobody really wants their rhythm broken up but sometimes they need a little pickme up meyers drop steps heads back on it makes the grab and there’s two gone now batting next to hit Maxy in there at the knees strike one activity in the bullpen for Houston steven Ochert up and throwing abrau the right-hander loosening up as well next pitch misses and the count is one and one base is empty two away but two runs are in here in the bottom of the sixth bows it off still one and two comes up empty as he chases that one in the dirt up with it fires to first wide throw pulls him off the bag and the inning still alive so he’s able to reach first base despite the strikeout and that extends the inning kind of a tough turn of events for the defense there yeah that’s maybe a little bit of a morale killer for a second you think you’re about to go hit but really quickly you have to refocus and be ready for the next play we’ll see if they can work around it and now here is Nick Curts and a first pitch fastball is in for a strike well with the tying run at first base he’s looking for something he can get a lot of barrel on drive it into a gap and score that run from first base just off the outside part of the plate [Applause] swing and a high-fly ball left field and that will end the inning are you kidding me but not before they’re able to draw closer with this blast it’s now a 32 ball game welcome back we’re in the seventh we have a new pitcher on the mound number 49 just trying to keep this one close here and this is where a bullpen can give their players a chance to fight back into the game well one-run game and now the right fielder Cam Smith has grounded out a couple of times outside with a breaking ball just missed he’s clearly trying to work him away here both pitches off the plate if you really want to put the ball in play you’re going to have to stay back and drive it to the opposite field that one almost got him let’s see if he gives him anything to hit here that one misses so a lead off walk he did not take the bat off his shoulder the entire at bat.me cooper Hmel getting ready to hit and there’s one thing on his mind this at bat getting that first hit at the big league level close but called a ball and that is ball one the one-1 is fouled off nobody out runner at first inside almost got him [Music] swing and a miss and the runner holds now batting stepping in Mauricio Dubon at 96 that pitch is in for a strike let’s go baby swing and a ground ball base hit right field they get it in quickly so first and second now one out not much to this one other than just a willingness to go the other way and put the ball in play that’s a team at bat right there nice job of staying back and letting the ball get deep here’s the third baseman Luis Guor one for two and that’s downstairs and it’s one and0 he’s looking for a ground ball to get a double play and out of this jam and another ball good spot for the hitter definitely has the advantage in this count with runners on look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch working down to the zone to start the at bat looking for that double play ground ball yeah backto-back sinkers there he’s looking for some weak contact or to get this hitter to roll over now is Wilson there’s one double play what a twin killing to end the inning they made it look easy but it started with a nice feed to the second base from the shortstop perfect turn and they’re out of this jam we’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh steven Ochre this southpaw’s been really good against left-handed hitters number 48 Steven Ochre now it’s the second baseman Luis Urias second baseman Luis oh he doesn’t get the call ball one homeplayed umpire is trying to tighten things up a little bit this one chopped on the ground but fouled that one almost got him looking to get the tying run on base and that one fouled off two-2 now swing and a ball popped up keratini moving under this one reaches over the wall and he’s got it now batting leftielder JJ Blade jj Blade up next for the A’s yeah that’s fouled off upstairs and a count one and two had a breaking ball misses outside this one in the air Karatini that’s out number two that was a good pitch to hit right down the heart of the plate had pretty good timing on it just got underneath it a little bit and popped it up denzel Clark up next for the A’s and ball one trying to hold a one-run lead here in the bottom of the seventh next offering is in for a strike trying to keep good speed off the bases and that drops in for a strike all sliders so far in this at bat to get ahead in the count and clearly shows there was a game plan in mind for how to attack him in the box swing and a miss and he got him and a nice inning of work there as he sets him down one two three nothing doing there for the A’s they’re down three to two welcome back and a new arm on the mound to start the eighth grant Holman pretty tight game so they’re looking for quality pitches out of him right here got to do his best to keep the score right where it is back to the top of the order now and stepping in for the Astros Jeremy Pñena it’s good speed at the top of the order here you want to get it on see if you can get a stolen base maybe get around the bases and pick up a run and that’s in there for a strike and now it’s even misses just off the outside edge i think that was a strike just missing off the plate there according to the umpire and out there on the mound maybe trying to get an explanation can’t say he’s convinced but it looks like he’s accepted it the two-1 ground ball up the middle that’s a base hit man aboard on the leadoff single showed some really nice patience in that at bat worked himself into a good count just kept it simple played Pepper with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from and there was just no one there to knock it down and now they’ve got some speed on first so we’ll see if they try to get him into motion at the plate is the Astros catcher Yiner Diaz he’s already homered in this game first pitch doesn’t find the zone and that is out of play pñena gets his lead at first with nobody out the one-1 is fouled off [Music] next pitch is inside two and two and that’s awfully close i don’t know how you take that he’s seeing the ball out of the pitcher’s hand really well right now [Music] cuts and misses it’s a strike out jose Altuve up next for the Astros jose Alt [Music] ripped to third over to Aras one what a double play that was inning over no runs one hit no errors and no one left last half of the eighth coming up it’s the Astros three and the A’s two back now new pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth brian Abrau well the best relievers love the opportunity to come in and protect a tight lead late in the ball game some of them are just wired different so we’ll see what he’s got here so back to the top of the order now it’s the DH Lawrence Butler and fouled off [Applause] puts the tying run on base man those are the types of hits where you don’t feel any vibration in your hands whatsoever such a good feeling absolutely punished that pitch wasn’t fooled in the slightest 109 off the bat i think that means you put a pretty good swing on it no outs runner at first now the number two hitter Jacob Wilson one for three if you’re a base runner you got to stay dialed in here look for anything in the dirt try your best to get in scoring position abrau throws to first butler back on a dive i think you want to get a one-way lead be very aggressive in the secondary this hitter not a power guy so you want to make sure that you can get some length on oh this one high and deep way back there forget it and they add a couple more it’s 43 well that swing changes things yes it does they were in striking distance and they found a way to fight back big time that’s an impressive swing of the bat to go over the wall to the opposite field gap and you know there are a lot of guys that just don’t have the pop to do that and probably just as many who don’t have the approach either he let that ball travel and he got great extension on the follow through to drive it out of here next up for the A’s Brent Rooker three for three two singles and a homer there’s the strike a’s leading by a run that’s inside he never moved because he never had time to with that kind of velocity you’d prefer that pitcher work away swing and a miss looked off balance that time action in the pen down there from Valdez the left-hander up and throwing king warming up as well nobody out with a pair of runs across in the frame here in the bottom half of the eighth inning that one not close two balls two strikes here’s a two-2 swing and a high-fly ball right field smith on the move to the gap makes the grab one away it’s a good recovery though after giving up the home run not allowing it to stay in the head but going to work at the next hitter and a tough one at that here comes the skipper and we’re going to see a pitching change in this spot brian Abrau won’t go any further and he leaves in a one-run game new pitcher coming on we’ll be back in a minute new pitcher coming on the veteran Caleb well walks have been a big issue for him this year so I expect these hitters to be patient up there digging in austin wins 0 for three in this one and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike cold night like tonight last thing you want to do as a hitter is get jammed or even off the end trying to find that sweet spot on the bat left field way back there out of here he’s up to three home runs in the series it’s 5-3 that’s their third home run of the game they’re having a lot of fun at the plate in this one they’ve got the long ball working for them on autopilot [Applause] a good hitter gets pitch recognition early he saw exactly where that was going to be the challenge not get over anxious and come out of your swing he stayed on it and got all of it so one out nobody on maxy will hit next 0 for three with two strikeouts and a ground out that clips a corner next pitch is downstairs liner to second and picked on the hop the throw nicely done for the hour now batting number 16 and here’s the first baseman Nick Curts 0 for three with two strikeouts and a fly out and that’s in there for strike one two down nobody on that’s off the mark one and two to count and they’ll do it again 99 miles per hour to finish him off but two round tripers in this inning the long ball was working last chance coming up here for the Astros back now and on the mound the closer Jackson Bagley a chance at his first save of the year and here now is the Astros cleanup hitter Victor Keratini first offering misses badly for ball one baggley 28 years old he joined the team as a free agent just missed last couple of pitches breaking balls away i think he’s going to have to come firm inside to be able to open up that location if he wants to go back there later in this count two and0 to Cal here it comes that one ripped that’s back bangs off the wall safe at second with a leadoff double oh that’s how you respond leadoff man comes up gets into scoring position now there are several ways that they can get this run across jake Meyers now at the plate there’s the strike swung on belted back there and he brings it in on the warning track runner tags at second and he makes it up to third with one away now batting number 11 Cam Smith the next to hit i’m curious how he decides to attack on the mound this guy at the plate has been great hitting under pressure this year that’s off the mark and that’s ball one in the infield at the corners don’t be surprised to see them come home first and prevent that run from scoring line drive makes the grab runner tags from third the tag and that’s the ball game the ball for his first career save deserves to be on display at his house i mean it’s kind of like when a restaurant frames its first dollar bill somewhere in a wall you just can’t forget your first save a 53 final score in this one the A’s are victorious for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show i’m John Shami saying so long
