Brad Marchand, Game 6 Morning Skate: Florida Panthers Win Away from the Stanley Cup

we just got to think about the the process our structure same things we’ve been doing from the start of playoffs and and um you know it just seems like that that’s what we’ve been focused on um since the last game finished and it’s not going to change tonight We we know they’re going to bring our best game and we got to be dialed um bring our best tonight and and uh play the right way As far as a team goes you guys held the Edmonton forwards to only 11 shots last game I know it takes defending as a full team unit against a team that has that kind of firepower What did you like the most about the way you guys played the last one specifically how you guys defended um yeah I thought we defended well Um we played fast You know you don’t expect that to happen every night Just kind of those one-off games So um definitely expect uh um you know a lot more opportunities tonight They’re they’re just so offensive so dynamic But uh yeah we we had a good game but um it’s all about you know making sure we play the right way to give ourselves the best opportunity to play the same way Is it a day you have to try and make feel like any other day or do you It is like any other day I mean that that’s that’s our mindset Um it’s not going to change it It the only thing we’re focused on is is um you know we’ve gone over a few things and and things we want to do Uh that’s all we’re thinking about How much does the experience do you think for this group last year helped you know having gone through some of those games where they didn’t quite finish it off you always draw from your experiences but um new teams you know obviously same teams but different players different circumstances Um I the only thing that those past games allow you to do is feel comfortable in situations and um but again I wasn’t there so I can’t speak to it All I know is that the guys are are focused on what we have to do You came back from a 3-2 deficit back in 2011 You means nothing bud It means nothing You like it doesn’t matter how any series played out in the past They are an incredible team They have tremendous amount of talent They’re going to play their best We’re going to try to do our best and the chips are going to follow it What do you like about the what you’re seeing and feeling from the group this morning a pretty well attended OB or skate Like what what’s your sense of the group right now um guys are loose Um I I think that that’s what I like It feels like every other day we’ve come to the ring so far Um you know the way guys are interacting the games are playing in the rooms the way they’re preparing Um you know and that’s that’s what our focus is So uh feels good here Having met the moment the way you have so many times to play off how hungry does that make you to do that again next um I again it’s every game is different and and the way it’s it’s going to play out I what our our group does well is is we focus um in the moment really well Uh and that allows you to feel comfortable in different situations and and uh we rely on the entire depth of our group Um and everyone has a turn to step up every single night And you know sometimes those things get overshadowed but um you know the amount of blocks and good sticks and back checks and guys being in the right position that have killed plays Um you know that that’s what we care about in here And and you know like guys scoring goals is.1 second of a game It’s the other you know 59 minutes and 59 seconds that you need to be dialed into your your details Um and you don’t always get recognized for those but there’s a lot of guys that sacrificed a lot throughout these playoffs and had big moments that uh we all recognize in here There’s a story on social media that maybe a neighbor closed your garage door you left open you got him tickets to the game Is that is that a true story is that correct no No Okay No I I don’t No I don’t know anything about this Okay You were joking the other day about being in the fourth line when you got here I wasn’t joking actually Um I mean you never know how things are going to play out Um I I just wanted to come in and and buy in and be part of the group and uh play whatever role I was put in Um and do it to the best I possibly can when you walk into this room you see what guys are are putting themselves through every day to prepare and to sacrifice and and uh how dialed in they are Um you know you just kind of follow suit They’ve built an incredible culture in this room Uh it’s very easy to follow and and when you do that you just leave it all on the ice and um we have a good team So good things happening here and we have a lot of fun

Saturday, the Panthers led 2-0 in the first off goals from Brad Marchand and Sam Bennett.

Marchand got his second in the third, with Sam Reinhart and Eetu Luostarinen closing the scoring for Florida.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 19 saves.

Florida is 10-3 on the road this postseason and 2-1 in Edmonton — so far.
