  1. Truly the end of an era. For better or worse, I suppose. Jerry bought the team in 1979 for $67.5 million. Perhaps one of the best investments in sports history.

  2. Damn

    *Jerry Buss bought the Lakers from Jack Kent Cooke in 1979 for $67.5 million, and the franchise passed to his children when he passed away in 2013. Now the iconic, 17-time championship is entering agreement to sell majority interest.*

    *Walter has been a minority stakeholder in the Lakers since 2021 and has interests in multiple professional sports organizations, including the LA Dodgers, WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, the Billie Jean Cup, Cadillac Formula 1 team and the Professional Women’s Hockey League.*

  3. Oh oh… a more competently run Lakers would be dangerous for the rest of the league

  4. Over/Under 3 months before Jeannie is pushed aside? What rich person allows another to stand in for them in these cases?

  5. Jeanie better get that shit in writing or she getting ousted in less than 6 months.

  6. Call me old fashioned but if my family owned a sports team I would want that shit to keep being passed down until the end of time

  7. Damn never thought I’d see the buss family sell the team. Curious to see if Jeanie actually stays or they kick her out after the sale goes through

  8. other sports franchises TWG owns:

    * LA Dodgers
    * LA Sparks
    * Chelsea FC
    * RC Strasbourg Alsace
    * Andretti Global
    * Spire Motorsports
    * Cadillac F1 Team
    * Wayne Taylor Racing

    so this means Luka is gonna join Checo in F1 next year

  9. The Lakers and Celtics both being sold in the same year feels like an ominous as hell bellwether…

  10. It’s hilarious to think that the Lakers were basically the small mom & pop shop of the NBA, basically the only team whose money was the team not outside riches from the owner

  11. I wonder how much Luka increased the value of the Lakers. I mean it’s arguably the most prestigious franchise in the NBA but having Luka means avoiding years of rebuilding.
