Phillies vs. Marlins Game Highlights (6/17/25) | MLB Highlights

It is scorching hot on a Tuesday night here in Miami Florida tonight game two of a four game series between the Marlins and the Phillies. The Miami Marlins will look to cool off the scorching hot. Philadelphia Phillies winners of five in a row. Castellanos, not in the starting lineup again. First time in 236 straight games. Castellanos was removed for defensive purposes last night and he had some choice words for his manager wasn’t happy spoke, my mind said I crossed the line punishment as I’m not playing, it’s his decision and he’s the manager told you about his own nice homecoming for the former Marlin left here. This the last time he started a game on this mound was June 4th of 24 ball to second. Stott will throw to first Augustine Ramirez seeing Luzardo three to two pitch and that’s in there for a called third strike and ramirez caught looking for the second out, first strikeout of the night for Luzardo his 94th of the year. It brings Otto Lopez up with two outs. He got him two strikeouts in the inning for Lazard Hernandez will be the 10th he leads off here for Miami. That one missed Lowe and that is a leadoff walk issued by Lazard that brings up Eric Wagon in the five hitting first baseman tonight. There’s a fly ball in the air deep, left center field going back is Rojas looking up and this is gone. Eric Wman with his fifth home run of the season. It’s 20, Miami here in the second 275 at bats. Marlins had gone without hitting a home run here, Lo Depot 11 at Norby backhanded by B fires it across and Norby retired out to left. Well again, Marsh, going back, sprinting back to the wall reaches up, makes the catch to bring up ST swing and a miss three strikeouts and Lazard is through the second inning. However, the Marlins have taken the lead on the mound for the 30 year old right hander making his 14th start of the season after working five innings and a 52 loss to the Pirates last week. He threw a season high 99 pitches in that outing. It will be Otto Kemp for the Phillies to start things here in the top of the third inning one , two check swing. He went around and Fortes will apply a tag up the middle flagging it down is Lopez Marsh is out at first after that nearly hit in the head and Lopez had him stationed perfectly at the middle pitch to Johan Rojas smacked out to left field hernandez underneath. He makes the catch and that is out number three. So nine up and nine down for Cal tonight, one time through the order, the Phillies have no base runners. So now we go to the top of the order for Trey Turner. Fly ball deep down the left field line, that ball is crushed. It is gone a long home run for Trey Turner back to back games. It’s the first hit of the day for the Phils and it’s a 21 ball game. They checked off a lot of boxes with that one swing big time. Perfect, perfect game over no hitter over, shut out over. So Cal now trying to bounce back against Kyle Schwarber hits that one high in the air to center field that’s hanging up for Sonos calling a converging ST off and how he makes the catch ball popped out his first time to the plate drive base hit to right center field for ST cuts it off the hold up at first a ball, a one out base runner and that brings up Max Kepler bounced out to short his first time up to one that one ripped on a line to the right side of the infield. That is a base hit, stour comes up, firing it back in state, put the 32 was caught on him. Second strikeout of the ball game for, that’s a big one. Here comes ST and the payoff to ST he is rolled on the ground over to first base Wagman gloves. It, he tugs it. The bag himself. Quantrell does allow the homer to Turner but he gets out of the gym back out there for the top of the fifth inning. He is working with a 21 lead over the Phillies for the Fish and the Marlins right hander fires the first pitch to Otto Kemp and he misses high and tight for ball 10, I guess that grazed him. Really? That might have gotten an arm here on Kemp’s left forearm here is brandon myers fly ball. Left center field hit well on the run is so no, and he’s not going to get it. It’s a one up off the base of the wall. Kemp had to hesitate so they’ll stop him at third game hitting streak for Brandon Bars. The Phillies have the first two runners aboard here in the fifth. Ronnie Enriquez is on in relief of Cal Quantrell Enriquez has an 8, 22 a over his last seven appearances in total this season , 30 appearances and a 3.27 runners at 2nd and 3rd with nobody out for Johan Rojas. Rojas lights one into center field, a base hit on the first pitch. Kemp scores. They hold up Marsh, the throws Rojas is going to second and he avoids the runner but he went way out of the baseline. Well, he tried pops this one in the air, shallow right field going to be a tough play. Edwards sprinting out and he makes the catch over his shoulder. Marsh was halfway down. The third baseline baserunning was staked by brandon Marsh. What a catch by X.I mean, if it drops and you’re tagging up, you score if he catches it as he did and you’re tagging up, you score because he’s moving away from the play. So baserunning mistake by Phillies outfielder brandon Marsh. Well, let’s see if Kyle can pick these guys up here by drive base , hit it to left field for Schwarber. The Phillies have taken the lead here in the top of the fifth inning. 53 RBIs for kyle. Now the count is full on bone and that is called strike three but the damage is done. Phillies get two. We’re halfway home Depot Park. It’s 32. Phillies roof is closed. Phillies are up 3 to 2. Lazaro goes back to work. Here’s eric Wagman and that’s ball four. That’s a very nice start to the sixth inning for the Marlins and that will set the table for Connor Norby who is 1 to 2 and he lays off a change up ball four. That is a terrific at bat for Connor Norby Banks is on with the Phillies up by one. It’s Fortes who is scheduled to face and Then ST and so that’s a fair ball up. The third base side balls, got it throws to first and hit the knob of the bat, I think. And Banks see Kyle Stour here, Billy infield drawn in that a bouncing ball over to third ball has got it. He can’t come home. He throws to first. It’s his only play he gets to, but a couple of soft ground balls over to third end up plating a run runner at third base and two down. And Javier Noah is the batter in the pitch. Soha swings in the air, left center field, javier Soha gives the Marlins the lead right here in the bottom of the sixth around second headed towards third. Give that young man a triple. That’s what javier Soha does just about every time he does something. He’s an exciting player comes through this time after the check, swing splits the gap in left center, three bases puts the Marlins ahead super job by javier. So Noah, and here comes Xavier Edwards who has singled tonight with an opportunity to make it a two run game in the two to X. He is lined into right center field Rojas on the move. So is Kepler in that up, Kepler , he slid and he just dropped the ball. He was caught in between back handing that and making a basket catch and he made neither. There’s a swing and a miss and the inning is over, but the Marlins get three. We go to the seventh. It’s 53, Miami Jesus sanchez batting here for Hernandez Sanchez swings. This is driven in the air, deep center field. He thinks he got all of it. He sure did. Jesus sanchez with a pinch hit homer. What you to say, like I said, he’s got the kind of power they can go straight center field and give you more home runs. Marlins Tech on two more insurance runs on an RB I single from Ramirez and a sack fly from Lopez. Calvin Foucher to the mound as we go to the top of the ninth Foucher with a 396. Er A, he’s got it down to below 428 appearances deep into his 2020 five season, former Marlin and JT Romeo and Rutto starts the ninth, the base hit to right field. Here we go. And that will put a man on for Bryson in the air, left center field so is on the move. He slides. He’s got it a, making a great play as a center fielder. There’s one away, there’s Otto Kemp, the three two is grounded softly out to second. Edwards will just take an out at first. There’s two away. It’s Brandon Marsh who’s one for three and the 22 pitch is cut on and missed and the Marlins wrap up a win, they bounced back from a loss in the series opener and they knock this four game midweek series with the Phillies at a game apiece.

  1. Tough luck for Jesus Luzardo. Wasn’t bad through 5, missed his location a couple of times. In the 6th, he was clearly tiring. He’s thrown more innings now than he had last year due to his injury. It’s very similar to Suarez last year once Suarez got around 90-100 innings, he really began to fall apart. Rob didn’t help at all either this game. Benching Casty was just wrong. You need a righty outfield batter and u bench the one good one ya got. Crazy. But tanner banks when ur leading 3-2?? Nah. Ik Ross didn’t do well, but I forget the dudes on the team half the time he’s barely in. But banks has been bad and even worse lately. Ofc he let those runs score. And then Ross with the homer. Ross hasn’t been HORRIBLE, but left people on base and people like Carlos Hernandez let the runners score. Michael Mercado is not a major league pitcher.
