MLB LIVE🔴 Philadelphia Phillies vs Miami Marlins – Jun 18, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

coming up on the first pitch and today’s starting pitcher Yuri Perez and Singi it’s unique these days but he’s more of a pitch to contact type of guy yeah Boogie he doesn’t rely too heavily on the strike out he knows he needs to miss barrels get some soft contact let the defense do work behind him and I think a guy like that can keep a good tempo don’t give hitters time to adjust or think they can move through a ball game and you look off they’re in line for a quality start we’ll see what he’s got in this one [Applause] trey Turner leading things off and takes a shot [Applause] and the righty deals pitch misses and it’s a ball and a strike hoo he never moved cuz he never had time to but that kind of velocity you’d prefer that pitcher work away and now the count one and two after the swing and the miss fights it off he’ll see another the healthy cut tough pitch at 98 but a really good pass at the ball [Applause] and that one lifted in the air center field hauls it in for the out and time now for the Phillies lineup this group was shut out their last game so we’re going to see if they can bounce back with a better effort here today and Boo it can get in your head a little bit when you get shut out you’re frustrated you’re seeing that consecutive streak of innings you haven’t scored and you want to get off to a great start score early because if you don’t you feel like it could linger into two consecutive games which no one wants to be a part of kyle Schwarber stands in here takes ball one low next offering in there for a strike and the count one and one [Music] and downstairs one out base is empty in the air left field down the line and it stays bare around first heading for two and that’s a double just a blue pit behind third right there and that’s a really tough play for a third base or shortstop to get to and the same for the left fielder so he just found a perfect place to drop that one in right there and here comes Alec Bow one and0 in the dirt blocked [Music] [Applause] swinging a foul straight back shorver leads off second with one gone in the inning ground ball left side fair ball coming home here’s the throw to the plate it’s off the mark and he scores and it’s one- nothing that’s a good job right there got two strikes on you just got to battle cast [Applause] one down and now for the Phillies nick Castillanos [Applause] and the first pitch misses for ball one man at first one away [Applause] out in front with the swing and that is strike one just a little too quick on that front shoulder front hip front foot everything comes open no way of making contact with that one just missed two ball one strike [Applause] that one ripped and that’s a fair ball b around second headed for third headed for the plate tag and he’s out at the play a lot of real estate to cover on that play defensively a long throw to the cut off man and then a lot of ground to make up as well on the relay but an excellent job of execution and getting that out at the dish as he tried to make it home all the way from first base max Kepler at the plate this one popped off wagaman makes the grab and that is that back here in Miami and starting in this one Zach Wheeler Singy he’s kind of a road warrior yeah I definitely say so you know some guys shrink a little bit on the road they’re so used to just you know having the comforts of being at home and having the fans behind them but this guy seems to thrive in adversity and being in some hostile environment so when you have a player like this on your team that goes out there and competes you definitely like your chances away from your home ballpark eddie lays down a bunt on to first one up one down batting second and time now for the Marlins lineup already trailing by a run in this one they’ll be looking to get on the scoreboard early on as well well it’s just the one run so not too big a hill to climb but yeah if they can answer back in this inning or at least in the next couple that’ll maybe settle everyone into this ball game and that includes their own starter on the mount now here’s the Marlins DH Augustine Ramirez he’s a catcher by trade but the DH here in this one and a pop off right side foul territory and a foul ball slashed foul down the right side and then a hook off into the seats and that misses and it’s one and two really good take especially with two strikes oh he gloves it batting third the shortstop Lopez two down base is empty now it’s the shortstop otto Lopez first pitch doesn’t find the zone one ball no strike right through there for a strike goodness i think he just took the best pitch he’s going to see in this at bat you don’t get many like that in that location and I don’t know if you take that pitch against any pitcher out there on the mound falling behind two and one two and one all three three in one two out base is empty [Applause] and that’s a strike three balls two strikes swing and a miss wheeler gets the strike out miami down in order they’re down one- nothing back here at Lo Park and now it’s JT Real Muto real Muto goes 6’1 batting sixth in today’s lineup and he was a third round pick back in 2010 highf fly ball and that one curling foul down the right side down to the dirt swing and a miss for collects fires to first got him one away on the strike out well take a look at the three pitch sequence here pretty simple in terms of putting them away at the plate once you’re ahead 02 as a pitcher you can really expand the zone and see how aggressive that hitter is going to be trying to protect and battle and right there clearly he was in swing mode but all you can do is hope to foul that off this is Bryson Scott and first off is fouled off [Music] that’s down and in matthew Ross behind the plate pitchers umpire yeah pitchers that work side to side effectively love being on the mound with Ross calling balls and strikes boo if you can command your stuff on the outer edges of the strike zone he will reward you next offering is in for a strike what about some non nos like you can’t call the umpire blue the way you do in little league or high school right yeah even in the minor leagues you’ll learn quickly uh you call the umpire blue you better learn his name and uh that’s just part of being a professional player and even a major league player close but call the ball two and two that’s a really good take right there slider down and in very difficult to get on the same plane and do anything with all three count foul we’ll see another payoff pitch i wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball try to go again with a fast ball slightly elevated he just having a hard time catching up that’s to third tosses to first he didn’t make things easy for him there but they still get the out batting the first baseman number four two out space is empty next is the speedy first baseman all right Miami pitch misses there one and0 wow triple digits on the gun i I know there are more pitchers that can reach that now than in the past but it’s still impressive to watch yeah a big swing and a miss [Applause] no that’s a ball [Music] swing and a highf fly ball left field makes the grab and that’ll do it we played an inning and a half it’s one- nothing and we’re back we head to the bottom of the second and now it’s going to be Eric Wagaban wav Wheeler back to work and foul ball hit on the ground to the right side and it goes just foul [Applause] next offering is downstairs [Applause] out missed two and two that one just misses the outside corner full count three and two that pitch was pretty borderline at the top of the zone and he’s not digging the call out there on the mound clearly pretty frustrated so he’s going to have to collect himself a little swings through it and that’s a strike out man I really like the ability to bounce back right there after not getting a call he probably should have gotten he didn’t let it affect his focus and he came back with another good pitch to get him swinging here’s the left fielder Ariberto Hernandez right through there for a strike two ball one strike next offering is fouled back pitches in the dirt at a count one and two [Applause] [Music] [Applause] fans another and that’s three straight strikeouts off to a strong start Sigy as he’s punched out three of the first five he’s faced well he’s definitely minimizing contact he can get the swing and miss when he needs it but he’ll also keep the defense fresh behind him allowing some balls in play as well dane Meyers the next to hit takes ball one that’s off the inside corner and that’s ball two and there’s a foul ball swing and a ball drilled in the air towards right center field brings it in that is the inning we play two innings it’s one to nothing and welcome back to the ballpark new inning getting started brandon Marsh steps to the plate hit hard base hit so now back to the top of the order everything came together for him other than ripping one into the gap or blasting one over the wall there aren’t a whole lot of hits that are more satisfying than a nice line drive into center field so that definitely felt good back to the top of the lineup and now Trey Turner fly to center his first time he’s 0 for one check on the runner marsh dives back in safely and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike marsh aboard here at first with nobody out [Applause] almost got him two strikes [Music] the only adjustment he needs to make is his target if you aim at the outside corner that slider’s going to end up way off the plate perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it highfly ball out to center field meyers and there’s one away now batting the left fielder Kyle Schwarber and Kyle Schwarber will come up a double and a run scored his first time up that’s outside ball one [Music] and that is out of play the 1-1 is fouled off and stretch out well that’s a curve ball that people like to describe as a hammer or Uncle Charlie and you can see why it’s not a looping slow curve he throws it hard and it gets plenty of bite on the end [Applause] and now it’s Alec Bow RBI single his last time up and it’s fouled away moved to first and he’s back in easily that one outside and the count even one and one [Music] that’s a little bit low three balls one straight [Music] highf fly ball out towards left center hernandez sizes this one up and that’s the third out so no runs here on a base hit no errors and one left we move on to the bottom of inning number three it’s the Phillies one and the Marlins nothing set for the bottom of the third now here is Javier the Noa [Applause] that is upstairs for ball one i mean that’s perfect location right on the black i mean over and over again this guy demonstrates the ability to hit those spots they’re so tough to do anything with as a hitter fights that one away still one and two gets a piece and stays alive flew open a little bit with that front shoulder but was able to slow his bat down just enough to make contact with that pitch keep the atbat alive foul ball still a one and two count fouled off and they’ll do it again and that one is downstairs and the count’s even at two swing and a miss struck him out make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today came inside with that two strike fast ball nicely and just bunched him up on the inside part of the plate couldn’t get around on it and catch it out front many times if you do it’s a foul ball and you know a lot of pitchers they really don’t like working inside with two strikes because they do not want to hit that batter and when they’ve got him up against the ropes got to figure out a way to put them away did a nice job right there way high there and one and one got the bat going too soon it’s strike two that’s to third fires across the diamond and two straight set down to begin the bottom of the third the catcher Nick Forz and now the catcher comes up to him Nick Forez fought off foul this one popped up foul ground first base side makes the grab and that’s the inning and one two three go the Marlins still behind by a count of one to nothing back here in Miami and now the center fielder Nick Cast cost first pitch misses you know these Philills doing a great job Boo of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way and I’m seeing very patient at bats out of him he’s only giving up one run but the starter pitch count is starting to get up there and that might be the best news yet for this offense and that’s in for a strike you know sometimes all it takes is getting to the next arm before an offense does any damage and that might be the case today that one finds the zone and the count is even two and two keeps the attack going with a foul ball this one in the air center field meyers calls it in and there’s one away now batting the designated hitter Max now batting Max Kepler he’s over for one and the first offering is not close base is empty one away top half of inning number four next offering is in for a strike [Applause] swinging a ground ball slings to first in time now batting catcher JT Realm Muto here’s JT Real Mutoo he’s 0 for one this is a guy who is very highly regarded defensively fun to watch him control stuff behind the plate good game caller good at framing but it’s that big arm that really stands out you come into the game knowing that unless the ball’s in the dirt or gets by him we’re probably not going to steal anything today so that’s where you want to get a little more aggressive on your secondary lead and hope that some base hits some slog some home runs can come into play that one the other way he takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it [Applause] down quickly go to Phillies but they lead it one to nothing bottom of the fourth now at the plate Xavier Edwards the second base take it high in the draft he’s had that top prospect label over him since he put on a professional uniform but at some point that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level shortened the bunt and missed it and it’s 0 and one well I’ll say this as a former position player and base steeler when you come into a game and you’ve got a guy like this behind the dish with a big arm you really have to change your approach can’t try to steal cuz you’ll get thrown out maybe get a little bigger lead be aggressive on the secondary but this type of guy shuts the running game down let’s go Miami bows it off still one and two and that skips in the dirt this guy’s a fun guy to watch taken at bat he just battles up there he doesn’t take a pitch off at all makes it so difficult on the pitchers out there you can tell they get frustrated with how long it takes to put him away on the ground to the left and it stays fair around first and hustling for second the throw in and it’s a double their first hit in this one got to love the resiliency showed in that at bat battling with two strikes not much to this one other than just a willingness to go the other way and put the ball in play that’s a team to bat right there nice job of staying back and letting the ball get deep and up next for Miami Augustine Ramirez 0 for one so far [Applause] got it started a little too early strike one well he’s been incredibly efficient in this one first pitch strike percentage over 70% that’s well above league average and that’s what’s allowed him to pitch well up to this point [Applause] runner edges away at second on the ground and it’s just fouled that was close [Applause] man at second towards first a sliding stop fires to first nicely done for the out we saw a few skills on display there for the out technique was great reaction time was there and the slide was smooth watching that play come together was really fun otto Lopez the next up for the Marlins struck out swinging his first time [Applause] next offering popped in the air right field two away the first baseman number 33 Eric so digging in Eric Wagaman he struck out swinging at his first at [Music] [Applause] the knees it’s 0 and one no [Applause] late swing fouled off two outs and a runner at third we’re here in the bottom of the fourth [Applause] base hit into center field in from third is a tying run and it’s an RBI single it’s 1-1 good two strike hitting right there B a bit of a lost start for some so that was nicely done to beat the odds you’ll often hear the phrase short to it long through it and that’s a great example of it right there got the barrel in the hitting zone early squared it up with the welltimed swing and came away with a beautiful line drive into center field two outs runner on first and now for the Marlins Ariberto Hernandez that’s inside [Applause] so two balls and no strikes well he looks more focused at the plate and working the count after that first at bat strikeout wagaman off of first with two away [Applause] that one catches the zone and that’s strike one [Applause] [Applause] and there’s the ball 3-2 two out runner on first lot of movement in the infield hitters got to stay focused on the pitch dane Meyers in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here that one is absolutely belted going back pulls it in on the warning track but they pick up one run on the RBI single all even at one a piece ready now for the fifth inning and digging in for Philadelphia Bryson st 27 years old a former first round pick back in 2019 and that one fouled off well these Phillies just haven’t produced as many competitive at bats as I’d like to see in this one they really haven’t worked many deep counts or long at bats and that’s fine if you’re having a lot of success but at this point I think it’s time to make an adjustment [Music] next offering upstairs i don’t like to say he wasted a pitch i think that was a purpose pitch change the eye level have him look up now go back exactly where you want to go line drive jumps but it’s off his glove safe at first as they can’t make the play now it number four and now the first baseman [Applause] a swing and a miss and that’s strike one [Applause] oh one down that clips the corner with two strikes may see some movement over there at first base trying to stay out of the double play right here swaying at a ball popped in the air and no one can get there the throw to second one away here in the fifth well it’s one of those plays that happens sometimes but it never really should seems like he just got a bad read on the ball and the good throw from the outfield was perfect to get the out brandon March stands in for the Phillies one for one with a single so far foul ball there [Applause] all tied up and we’re at the top of the fifth this to third dives but it kicks off his glove no throw and he reaches safely the bat number seven so the batting order turns over here’s Turner now for two in this one the shorts stop takes the ball the last thing he wants is to hit the ball on the ground but I wouldn’t expect many pitches up in the zone they’ll be pitching for a double play in this spot [Applause] here’s a rocket out to left makes the grab and it’s two ball now that left Kyle Schwarber Kyle Schwarber comes up to hit here oh look out here he’s going to come up ready to swing in this situation [Applause] and the first pitch misses for ball one [Applause] just missed good spot for the hitter definitely has the advantage in this count with runners on look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch [Applause] and another ball he hasn’t fallen behind in the count like this all day he’s in danger of walking his first batter right here [Applause] at 96 that pitch is in for a strike two outs couple of base runners at first and second in for a strike and now just one pitch away from surviving the inning he misses it’s a strike out well this guy competes hard we see the emotion there i love it great job of getting out of the jam back here in Lone Depot Park john Shabi with my buddy Chris Singleton it’s set to get us started bottom five Dane Meyers wheeler back to work outside low and it’s one and0 you know these Marlins as this game goes on have to be more disciplined at the plate chasing pitches has been a big part of the story we’ve seen it quite a bit today it’s been tough for him to make contact at times and it just doesn’t look like they’re seeing it very well as a group pitch misses now two balls in a strike and on the mound you know confidence has to be pretty high with all of the swings and misses he’s had them eaten out of the palm of his hand pretty much all game swing and a miss struck him out he picks up his fifth strike out on the hill thought it was a pretty good pitch top of the strike zone we’re seeing more fast balls in that location hitters especially with two strikes have to be ready to pull the trigger javier Senoha the next up for the Marlins that pitch gets the corner strike one and a foul ball [Music] strike three and that’s two in a row well pitchers have become so much better at commanding that high fast ball it used to be that a lot of pitchers didn’t like to throw it because it throw off their release point and their mechanics and they’re aimed at keeping everything at the knees get ground balls but because hitters get a swing path that can lift balls at the knees up in the air and over the fence this pitch has come back into play and they are doing some special things with it sanchez takes a ball as he stands in for the second time he’s controlling things out there on the mound not messing around at all he’s been in attack mode since the very start [Applause] that misses the zone and the count is 2 and 0 and that’s down and away [Music] [Applause] [Music] yeah the three 0 finds the zone this game has been so tight feels like the next team to score will win it [Music] two down doon swing and a ball lifted in the air castanos moves on it and that is the third out of the inning we played five full tied at one aside so the Marlins go with a new arm Sandy Alcantara and he’s been hit pretty hard at times this year so he’s looking for better right now giving up more than a hit for any Alec B stands in for the Phillies alec B first offering misses badly for ball one signs of activity in the pen for the Marlins anthony Bender getting ready to go quantrol getting cranked up as well next offering upstairs there’s the strike swing and a miss this guy’s got such a good sinker as a hitter you’ve got to look up in the zone if you look down you’re going to be chasing stuff in the dirt and that is downstairs and now three and two fouls it back with two strikes and there’s a rocket into the outfield and that one’s going to get into the corner takes the turn he’s digging for second the throw to second is offline showed a lot of fight with two strikes in that AB he really shot that one down the right field line and somehow found a way to keep it from slicing foul one thing that was great about the approach his head was down all the way through the pitch and that’s how you do it a chance now to take the lead and at this point in the game that could be a deciding run here’s Nicholas Castillanos one for two there’s a strike [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] man at second line drive that’s a base hit stop sign goes up at third runners at the corners nobody out just so sound in his mechanics it’s against a firm front side and the hands just continue to carry through the middle of the field max Kepler stands in for the Phillies [Applause] and that one just misses a ball and no strikes right through there for a strike [Applause] i think ultimately you want to tie him up get the ball in on the plate so that he can’t get the barrel to it and hit it to the outfield ground ball right side but it kicks foul [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and he grounds one to the right side and that chance handled only play as a first on the throw from shallow right there for the out runner scores from third jt real here comes Real Muto listen and there’s absolutely no reason to pitch to this guy right here you nibble you see if he’ll expand his zone but don’t give him anything to hit if you walk them not a big deal you have a double play opportunity set up [Applause] that one fouled off one out and a runner at second and we’re in the top half of the six [Applause] got him slithering he chased the change up and there’s two down now it’s the second baseman Bryson stop [Applause] that’s in there that’s strike one and ball one [Applause] outside with a breaking ball two in one [Applause] swings and misses it’s two and two castanos on at second with two down swinging a ground ball up the middle whips it to first on the run and very nicely done for the out one run a pair of hits no errors and one left off 9-1 and two scheduled to hit in the home half of the six it’s the Phillies two and the Marlins one [Applause] bottom of the six here’s the catcher Nick Forz nick Forz [Applause] there’s a strike and I know you want to be patient as a hitter but you got to be ready to jump on the first thing straight and he got one right there but left the bat on his shoulder and he’s down 02 as he swings through it just an outstanding job of spinning the baseball moving it around doing what he does runs it up to 96 to record the punch out now batting second base now it’s the switch in second baseman Xavier Edwards basketball for a strike swing and a miss and that’s strike two quickly in an 02 count you’ve got to figure out a way to shorten your path to the baseball put it in play somewhere then you got a chance vss that off to the left and will do it again man he’d like to have that pitch back that one laced to center and a base hit so they get a man aboard with a one out single couldn’t have timed it up any better than that that’s about as textbook as it gets got his stride and load out of the way early he stayed inside that ball and squared it up out front man that was like he was in the cage hitting off a TE man at first with one gone augustine Ramirez the next to hit the kick in the pitch runner goes that’s in for a strike throw tag out a bullet from JT Real Mutoo that’s just a perfect catch and throw right there you get a guy with that kind of speed trying to take second he’s got such a good arm back there but that had to be on the money pressure situation if you will right on top of it two down nobody on here in the bottom of the six comes up empty well this is the type of hitter you want up in this situation some sluggers coming up behind him he’s so good at moving runners but also getting on base see if he can be patient here ripped to third but handled and that’ll end the inning nothing doing for the Barlans and our score remains 2-1 and welcome back to the ballpark we go to the top of the seventh and here’s the first baseman number four [Music] there’s the strike of the knees 41 and a foul ball [Music] just misses with that one ground ball right side and that’s just fouled and that one is inside [Applause] two-2 now three balls two strikes [Music] and it’s fouled off they’ll do it again [Music] got him he battled for a long time but it finishes with a strike out you can’t be mad at yourself after an at bat like that one that’s a pretty nasty pitch right there i’d call it a power curveball in the 80s it’s got so much spin on it and you really don’t have a lot of time to sit back and watch what it’s going to do before you have to commit it was a good one for the swinging strikeout strike one base is empty one away here in the top half of inning number seven swings through that one out in front that time to third Senoha throws to first and two away to start the seven trey Turner now 0 for three in this one that one missed next pitch is downstairs and delivers outside that one finds the zone and the count is three and one that’s ball four tried another fast ball but missed the spot you can stomach a two out walk to certain players but with his speed this guy out there on the base pass it could turn into two or three bases runner at first with two away now the number two hitter Kyle Schwarber one for three and a strike in there well if he’s going to steal second you want him to go early in the count that way he’s not a distraction to the hitter at the plate go ahead and got him that ends the inning [Music] bottom of the inning and at the plate for Miami Otto Lopez you talk about elite defensive players especially in the middle of the diamond and this guy is at the top of the list the pitch right through there for a strike yeah we go beyond just uh you know fielding percentage and you know what it looks like but the ability to have range and you know close holes that you know are normally there against an average defender but this guy is special and you can see it in his first step quickness and a count one and two looking to get the tying run on base fights that one away still one and two [Applause] knocks that one away and will do it again swings and misses struck him out a big first out here in the seventh via the punch out yeah it just does so much to change the outlook of an important inning like this when you got the lead off hitter so critical in setting the table when you got a tight game like this so a strikeout really puts them on their heels eric Wagaban the next up for the Marlins that’s in there that’s strike one holding on to a one-run lead here in the bottom of the seventh that’s outside and that’s ball one and strike two one ball two strike that one just misses man oh man i don’t know how you take that pitch that’s as close as it gets swing and a chopper out to short turner with the throw to first and that quickly two away good armside run and sink on that pitch right there got inside on it and got him to bounce into that out so up next Ariberto Hernandez that one finds the zone 0 and one i really like how he’s been attacking hitters early in at bats he’s thrown strikes on the first pitch to over 70% of the guys he’s faced in this one now this is in the air down the line and that lands in no man’s land a foul ball outside low and that is ball one his understanding the strike zone very impressive that was a very close 02 fast ball i just don’t know how you take that next pitch is outside just one out away from seven strong innings and just at 100 pitches man pretty impressive they’ve got to be happy with what they’ve gotten from him out there today swinging a miss that one in the dirt that completes the strikeout inning over three up three down for him there we look ahead to inning number eight it’s the Phillies two and the Marlins one now pitching for Anthony Bender takes over on the mound left-handed batter at the plate and he’s been excellent in those matchups this year so this seems like a calculated move leading off for Philadelphia here comes Schwarz to the plate kyle Schwarber sliced hard but fouled down the left side [Music] not close with that one and the count is one and one misses the zone for a ball that was the sweeper cut on and missed good change up right there two and two now swing and a miss and he is down on strikes for the third straight at bat now back stepping in alec B [Applause] strike on the inside corner it’s 01 bender is what you’re looking for in a good reliever the ball stays in the ballpark it’s so hard to square him up oh he doesn’t get the call and it’s one and one activity in the bullpen calantrol up and loosening in the pen gibson also getting ready and that one way outside and it’s two in one yeah he stays out of the middle and in and pitches either at the bottom at the top on the edges and because of that if you do get it in the air it’s usually just a high-fly ball and when it’s down in the zone it’s on the ground that one blasted deep to right that’s back get out of town that one felt good it’s 3-1 he absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer and you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after at bat he’s that confident that one was a hanger and pitchers typically don’t get away with making a mistake like that and right there he made him pay so one out nobody on next to hit Nick Castanos yeah there’s the strike he’s so consistent that the manager basically can look at it like he’s got three outs sitting in his pocket that shortens the game one out base is empty and a run in and we’re in the top of the eighth when he takes the mound you feel like hey this inning is wrapped or this ball game is over he’s just that good and you can see it in opposing hitters as well they know when he comes in pretty much forget about it kind of reminds me of Mariano Rivera one down base is empty foul ball still a one and two count [Applause] in the air left side hernandez pulls it down and there’s two away up next for Philadelphia the designated hitter Max two down base is empty at the plate Max Kepler [Applause] swing and a ball lined out towards center and that’s down a base hit and that keeps the inning going oh no waiting around right there he was ready to swing it on the first pitch pretty good spot hard and inside but that’s a perfect example of keeping your hands inside the ball tight to the body the ability to take that back up the middle shows his approach is to use the entire field [Music] [Applause] next offering is fouled back this one in the dirt the one two stays alive kepler leads off first with two down to the inning [Applause] fouls it off still one and two [Applause] two balls two straight [Applause] and that just misses great RBI spot here just got to stay focused on the pitch the runner will be in motion so something in the gap should definitely score it gets a piece there we’ll do it again ninth pitch of the at bat do next ground ball to the right side dives and he can’t hang on to first and he beats it everyone’s safe now that second base first and second two outs stopped will hit next first pitch and he just misses [Music] [Applause] and another ball when the skipper calls down to the bullpen he’s expecting the guy to come in and get outs so far not getting what he was hoping for two on two outs yeah that’s fouled off [Applause] and there’s a hit runner at third puts on the brakes base is now loaded with two away well a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle we saw the numbers coming into the ball game but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win and now the first baseman 0 for three a fly out a ground out and a strike out [Applause] hit on the ground to short Lopez they get the force they limit the damage here one scores in the inning coming on this solo home run it’s now a 3-1 ball game it’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show back now new pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth Michael Marcato well the best relievers love the opportunity to come in and protect a tight lead late in the ball game some of them are just wired different so we’ll see what he’s got here now for the Marlins Dane Myers dane Meyers that misses off the outside edge action in the pen down there jordan Romano the closer is getting loose [Music] swang in a line drive ripped right center field and that should be extra bases now he’ll turn for second and he greets the new arm from the bullpen with a double well that’s how you respond lead off man comes up gets into scoring position now there are several ways that they can get this run across [Applause] runner in scoring position no outs now the third baseman Javier Senoha and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike [Applause] and that one clips the corner well he didn’t like those first two pitches now in an 02 hole he’s going to have to battle hope he gets a mistake with the tying run at the plate here the bottom half of the eighth inning swing get a ball popped up drops into the glove and there’s one down that hanging breaking ball looks so juicy to the hitter and nothing more frustrating when you miss that pitch and you pop out he’s going to have to think about that till his next at bat so digging in Jesus Sanchez [Applause] first pitch just misses [Applause] this one chopped on the ground but foul runner at second here one gone [Applause] on a line cast pulls it in on the run wow he looked like he was running before the ball was hit didn’t have much time as that was a hard hit liner but a nice job of covering a lot of ground in a short amount of time and here’s the catcher Nick Forez [Applause] drive that’s a base hit into center field and it will play he’ll score it’s an RBI single and they trail by one always feels amazing getting a job done when the team needs you to come through it’s just bigger than your own individual stats everything was on time and fluid in that swing got a pitch he could get the barrel on and lined it into center for the knock those always feel good xavier Edwards gets a chance to hit here [Applause] first pitch doesn’t find the zone well with the tying run at first base he’s looking for something he can get a lot of barrel on drive it into a gap and score that run from first base forz the runner at first with two gone and a base hit they stop the lead runner at second now two on with two outs he was all over that one really good swing right there he got a pitch that he knew he could handle allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws and now a crucial opportunity to tie up this game with another base hit so the tying run in scoring position now next is the designated hitter Augustine Ramirez out towards right center field marsh running hard can’t reach this one it gets down one runs in a second scores as though they lead it in the eighth such great concentration everybody on their feet knowing that you can come through with a good swing and there he doesn’t try to do too much and the Phillies manager making his way towards the mound now as he will make a move michael Marcato won’t go any further daddy’s responsible for the runner on second so the book isn’t closed on him yet we’ll be right back now pitching for the Tanner Banks into the game and if you dig into his walk rate his numbers are really impressive he’s really filled up the strike zone this season and so these batters better be ready to swing the bats and up next for Miami Otto Lopez 0 for three with two strikeouts and a fly out that one missing inside back and forth we go a seessaw battle in the late stages of this one and a breaking ball drops in for a strike [Applause] and that’s off the inside edge and it’s two and one [Applause] up the middle and he knocks it down gets it there in time though and they get it out of the play but three score in the inning two of them on this two-run double last chance coming up for the Phillies welcome back and here comes the closer Ronnie Enriquez he comes in with a chance for his second save of the season well one-run game brandon Marsh stands in for the Phillies so important to stay within yourself especially for this hitter not known to be a power guy or a home run hitter he needs to set the table by getting on with a walk or a base hit ripped to right and a quick out number one as good as he’s seeing the ball out of the pitcher’s hand you cannot hang a breaking ball right there lucky it stayed in the ballpark he’s two outs away here’s Trey Turner corner infielders guarding the lines trying to prevent extra bases and the first pitch misses for ball one [Music] this one smacked out to left center and there’s a base hit and the tying run is on base nice line drive to the pull side met it out front but just stayed through it nice enough and ripped it into the outfield and now let’s see if they force some action with good wheels on the bases and here is Kyle Schwarber one for four with a double and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter if you’re a base runner you got to stay dialed in here look for anything in the dirt try your best to get into scoring position [Applause] boo the runner at first needs to be careful right here he’s dealing with a pickoff artist on the mount [Applause] next pitch way upstairs one-run game here in the top of the ninth [Applause] got him swinging it’s a strike out phillies have just one out remaining up next here’s the third baseman Alec B he’s coming off a big swing of the bat in the eighth inning Chris yeah he may still be riding a little high and for him hopefully the confidence is still there it was a solo shot and a very important run in this game [Applause] just missed next offering is in for a strike trying to close out a one-run lead here in the top of the ninth and he hits a ground ball right side down the line and it’s fouled the Phils down to their final strike got him and that’s the ball game after four wins in a row you start to think a little bit that you’re on a roll and that’s the momentum that just takes on a life of its own players start hitting up and down the lineup never know who’s going to come up with the big hit who’s going to come out of the bullpen and get the big outs but it’s a good feeling and you want to extend it and the final score here 43 they hang on to win it by a run for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show i’m John Shami thanks for joining us
