Houston Rockets head coach Ime Udoka has agreed to a long-term contract extension with the franchise that makes him one of the highest paid NBA coaches, after a 52-win season and top-2 seed for the first time in seven years, sources tell ESPN.

That’s going to hurt his chances of going to the knicks
Knicks in shambles
Deserved
You’re welcome, coaches everywhere.
God bless
I call a 56 win Houston season next year
He’s at worst a top 5 coach, glad we locked him in
How many extensions are the Knicks going to force other teams into signing? Jason Kidd up next.
Still really wish this dude could’ve kept it in his pants. I love Mazzulla, especially that he’s a New Englander. But I really think we beat the Heat in 23 and can’t see us blowing back to back games against the Knicks if we still have Ime. It’s definitely a superstar driven league and they are more important than the coaches but Ime was what turned the Jay’s into champions.
Knicks giving head coaches job security everywhere
Except thibs
Damn bruh we really extended Adams and Udoka. We might really win a chip within the next few years
I know people meme about the affair, but the players seem to want to run through a brick wall for him. Couple of Rockets beat writers mentioned this is the closest Rockets locker room they’ve covered in over a decade. Yes, even including the Harden years.
Hopefully he gives James Dolan a commission.
I forgot about the rockets success this year. Playoffs this year have been so good
He came in and immediately helped change the losing culture under Silas. Very deserved
Coaches like Udoka and Billy Donovan seem to have used the Knicks’ interests in a bargaining chip for their contract extension negotiations.
Also seems obvious that the Knicks have been asking hired head coaches who are in the midst of such negotiations, knowing that their contract is up
Brings a nice culture but completely over rated as a game manager
Sources: Knicks have reached out to offer more money.
I thought we fired coaches who turn the franchise around and take teams farther than they’ve been in 25 years?
He’ll be fired within 3 years after he’s turned into a scapegoat after a disappointing season. Such is NBA coaching
Idk. Something tells me they will need a better offensive identity to take the next step and develop extremely gifted but offensively challenged youngsters
Remember to tell Leon rose thank you, Ime
Leon out here getting other coaches long term deals and yall still have the audacity to besmirch his movement smh
Well done now keep it in your pants
What are the new buyout odds on fan duel? -150 for 3 years?
Rightfully deserved…. My fav coach in the league even tho he doesnt coach my team, ime just brings that discipline & holds everyone accountable that players respect the hell out of him
The Knicks are doing wonders for these guys bank balances. Maybe Dolan is getting a kick back.
Is it bad that I’m already thinking about how he’s probably going to be fired in the next couple seasons?
Seeing all the coach of the year coaches getting fired left and right has me pessimistic.
And now the Knicks will try to ask for permission to interview him again
Still doesn’t make up for him choosing to lose Nia Long
He could have won a chip in Boston AND be with her
This is kind of a random thought, but Houston sports teams have some really good head coaches.
We’re on track
All we need to do now is make Astronaut Dunking Jumpman the official logo
Great coach love what he’s built out in Houston
The Rockets are doing it all wrong, don’t they know you’re supposed to fire your coach after a good season?
Just gotta make sure they only hire ugly interns
I’m glad we scooped him and I’m glad we extended him. He got that dog on him and he has passed that trait on to our players!
Hell yeah, glad we’ve got him for a while. Rockets management continuing to make sharp decisions
Just don’t let him win Coach of the Year though, or else he’ll be fired within 2 years.
Knicks getting coaches paid. You’re welcome.
Absolutely deserved but this juxtaposes the absurdity of Thibs being fired. 52 wins, knocked out in round 1 by a lower seed – front office is patient and recognizes the tremendous progress the team has made. 51 wins and an ECF berth after a surprising upset over the defending champs – we’re moving in a different direction.
Imagine how the guy whose wife’s back was getting blown out by Ime feels..
