HUGHES BROTHERS REUNION ABOUT TO HAPPEN IN NEW JERSEY? #devils #trade #vancouver #podcast #trending

it’s not often in the NHL that a superstar demands to be traded to a specific team but that’s exactly what’s happening in Vancouver so today we’re going to ask the big question what would the New Jersey Devils have to give up to acquire All-Star defenseman Quinn Hughes hey everybody welcome in to Clearing the Benches your one-stop shop for hockey content if you go ahead and hit your subscription button right now you’ll be sure to be in on all of our future videos quinn Yu has made it very public that he wants out of Vancouver and he wants to go to Jersey so that he can play with his brothers Jack and Luke the situation in Vancouver is pretty much a mess they’ve got the Elias Patterson situation going on that Brock Besser situation is all screwed up and you as the captain you know you got to be the guy that’s going to tow the company line and you’re going to try to bring everybody together i just don’t think Quinn Hughes has that in him in Vancouver i think he’s seen enough there he’s 25 years old he’s at a point in his career where he’s played well enough long enough that he can pretty much determine his next spot and I think everybody knows Jersey is that spot when we look at Quinn Hughes 5 foot10 180 pounds he was drafted seventh overall by the Canucks back in 2018 he is making 7.85 million per year for two more years through 2026 27 in 433 career games he’s got 49 points he’s also a plus 31 those are numbers that are just a sliver under what Kale Mar is doing for Colorado uh when I see what Q uh Quinn Hughes and Luke Hughes and Jack Hughes could do for the Devils the Devils have taken a couple of steps back recently and in my opinion it was because of Jack Hughes’s injury especially last year if the Hughes brothers are all healthy and they’re firing on all cylinders I think Jersey could get right back into the playoffs and potentially make a deep run so for the jersey side of things this would work out very well but now let’s look at what Vancouver would be asking for when you look at the Devils roster there’s only three guys in my opinion that jump off the page that would make any sense but then when you look at those guys a little bit closer it really comes down to just two guys the guys that I look at you know that Vancouver would potentially want Tee O Meyer in 2021-22 it looked like he was about to be a breakout superstar he had 76 points in 77 games playing for the San Jose Sharks then in his next three full seasons skis dropped to 5264 and then he had 53 points this past season the Devils owe him $8.8 million this year plus a $5.75 million signing bonus that is a lot of money for a guy who’s just putting up 50 points i think if the Devils could get out from underneath this Teeo Meyer contract especially if they had to just eat a little bit of it to get Quinn Hughes in return I think they would do it i don’t think that’s going to be enough if we were looking at Meyer as being the centerpiece going back to Vancouver the other name on my list that I look at and he’s going to have to be a throwin possibly with either two superstars going back we’re going to talk about the other one but that throwin would be Sheamus Casey the defenseman uh the Devils got a taste of him last year in I think it was 14 games for the Devils playing D he had eight points he tore it up at Michigan he is a do-it-all defenseman i think that Vancouver would ask for him at the very least as part of a deal if Hughes goes the other way because maybe they could see that Casey would be you know Hughes 2.0 in Vancouver the other big name and I think this would be the name that the Devils would have to give up if they want to get Quinn Hughes and that’s Yasper Brat um Yasper Brat is only 26 years old he’s in year three of an 8year contract and they’re paying him 7.8 million a year a million less than you’re paying for Teemo Meyer in BRT’s last four years in Jersey 73 points 73 points 83 points and then this past season 88 points and most of that was without Jack Hughes because he had gone down with an injury i think personally if you know Quinn Hughes really wants to go to Jersey that bad and if Tommy Fitzgerald wants him that bad I think they’re really going to have to decide on Yasper Bru because I think he’s going to be the sticking point in this trade and even with BRT because it’s the Devils who would be initiating this deal the Vancouver Canucks still may ask for Sheamus Casey as part of a deal with Brock so there you have it that would be the return that I think the New Jersey Devils would have to give up to acquire Quinn Hughes from the Vancouver Canucks let me know what you think down in the comments section and if you could please like the video don’t forget to subscribe and as we always do here at Clearing the Benches let them know you’re out there

  1. You literally named absolutely nothing going to Vancouver 😂😂😂😂 a rookie defense men that you can’t use. An overpaid winger you don’t want. And Bratt for a top five d.
