Cardinals vs. White Sox Game 2 Highlights (6/19/25) | MLB Highlights
well we welcome you back to chicago it is game two of our double header lovely weather the cardinals bats warming up too chance for a three-game sweep and to head home with win number 40 as we take a look at mike vassel boy this guy’s been good eighth round pick out of virginia a 199 ra for chicago the next step for will venibal’s team is how do they start winning some of those tight games that they were in until they lost late in game one of this double header lead things off as a guy that had four hits in game one what a game he had that’s right not and a strikeout to start this ball game mike’s got a good running fast ball here’s an example of it you see this ball just explode out of his hands you’re talking about a good six to eight in a run because that’s a good hitter in donovan that strikes out here’s contrarus we had a game tying home run knocked in the three earlier today he’s got the good stuff working two up two strikeouts and this one 96 on the outside corner too close to take trish a little tardy on that swing i’m not thinking he’s seeing the ball real well right now two up two down berles’s next little chopper is going to sneak through for a two-out single this ball’s a funny game berles had never picked up a hit against the white socks in his career in three games here he’s got six of them nolan aronado there’s the energy we need to start game two with his double header well it’s always a treat to see this young man throw a pitch in the major leagues michael mcgrevy has been awesome two games one start the last one came against the dodgers it didn’t start well but it sure finished great for michael who pitched well enough to give the cardinals a chance late midroth 23 years old played his college ball at san diego mcgrevy pours in that sinker to get his first strike out of the day there of maidroth benendes playing left field in the second game of the double header you know that and he is ready to rake the single with one out here in this first inning here’s miguel vargas pop him up right side donovan shielding his eyes stutter steps at second and squeezes it two out caro a switch hitter batting from the left side she’s high and outside again that is ball four so the white socks have runners at first and second for the dh lenin sosa in the air toward left center but that’s a can of corn for victor he’s got it and mcgrevy has a scoreless first inning in game two started the day with a 199 leading all major league rookies in era nolan gorman the batter the dh and fast ball here it is can you hit it no gorman cannot very lively although that one that was his four seamer so it’s not going to move as much as the two seamer two retired and now it’s not steps on the bag himself and one two three second inning for mike vassel brian nota leads things off for the white socks here in this bottom of the second inning not in the air to left field going back and it is gone ryan not his first home run it gives the white socks a one- nothing lead here in this second inning pretty good way for your first socks hit opposite field no blast socks on top one zip remember they threw up and in on contrarus in the first game that was ball four and he’s aboard with a hit by pitch and alec berles next that’s driven a long way toward left ben tendy on the fly that ball is gone opposite field three-run homer for berles that guy is scorching hot all of a sudden and the cardinals have a two-run lead seven of them on the season they hit contrarus burles made him pay and mcgrevy now leads by two and it’s aronado at the plate struck out his first time now aronado cracks one to left that one’s going to soar out of here backto back homers a milestone for aronado that’s number 350 somebody go make a deal with that fan nolan aronado is going to want that souvenir back-to- back homers and the cardinals lead four to one cardinals fans are enjoying the series they’ve won the first two games lead game three four to one and we start with nolan gorman as that one’s cracked toward the gap in left center that’s going to get down for a base hit gorman using the big part of the field and he’ll stand at second with a leadoff double oh there’s a base hit to right field gorman makes it to third base on the base hit by pahes the other way so he too took the ball the other way that may be the best approach maybe first and third nobody out for the cardinals so now bassel is kind of on the hot seat facing jose there’s that good fast ball as bassel gets the strike out now we’ll face scott fans take it low ball four one at bat or plate appearance if you will for victor scott from 0 and two to ball four and the cardinals have them loaded for donovan and one out 02 swing a miss strike three a new careerhigh six strikeouts for mike vassel well contras was hit by a pitch last time up you know he’d like to exact some revenge shot towards second and off the second base’s glove one run will score here comes pas he’s going to score contraras having himself a great day at the plate curve ball it’s down but it stays in the middle of the plate and wilson stays right through it to drive in another pair that’s the end of the line for mike vassel he surrenders six to the cardinals edgar caro is the catcher a switching catcher who walked his first plate appearance facing michael mcgrevy for the second time and a swing and a miss mcgrevy has struck out his third man he’s set down seven straight after the homer as that one’s cracked towards center and two out in ryan not to bats strike three not thought it was low and that’s punch out number four oh yes chris tuno’s fired up his redbirds are trying to sweep away the socks the leadoff batter for the white socks is former giant austin slater slater with a base hit the ground ball the other way out into right center single to open the fifth here’s rojas rifled toward right but alec berles’s right there he’s got that and there’s out number one and he’s handling it quite well thank you got away with a high change up and taylor swung through that five strikeouts for michael mcgrevy chase mro is coming in my drop a strike out and a ground up to third little pop into shallow right and berles’s going to grab that and mcgrevy has qualified for the win here in chicago he looks good so do the cardinals try to sweep away the south siders lefty john king as the bottom of the seventh sosa then slater it’s going to be a tough play and no play for mr king man on nobody out not at the back and a swing and a miss no dice for no duh he’s retired one out so austin slater will hopefully oblige and hit into a double play here this one is laced into center field sosa will take the turn he goes first to third and now the white socks threatening with one out in the seventh looks like luis robert is coming up to pinch hit looks like we’re going to see the rightander coming out of the pen that’s going to be it a very short stint by king kyle lehey is going to come on and clean up twoon one out here in the home seven that delivery is swung on and missed he struck him out got him with another slider mike tman is going to bat for michael a taylor runners on at the corners and tman a drive into right field that’ll bring in sosa makes it a 62 ball game here in the seventh inning first and second for maid that run will be charged to king as sosa scored [Music] and that one not called that is ball four which means tying run will come to the plate well this is a big spot bases loaded with two outs here in the seventh inning swinging a drive deep to right that’s a grand slam this game is tied first pitch attacking talkman now been in tindy they got fast balls and they did not miss them andrew benendi with a game tire he clears them all we’re back to even 66 and now it’s jojo’s turn jojo romero hopefully a very very quick efficient one and the cardinals offense can do their thing inside ball four there’s the patience there’s the walk and there is the winning run and now here’s chase maid shows ball pulls it away and now the winning run is in scoring position it has ruled a pass ball on pahes bouncer up the middle morero gets to it will make the play at first as tauman the winning run advances to third with one out now we’ll see how close aronado is going to play at third because this is the ideal butt situation with capra chopper to third aronado’s coming home and there’s the tag little chopper to third aronado came home talking looked like he pulled up a bit as he got close to home on home plate that was an easy tag out for the cardinals in the second out of the inning capra takes off that pitch gets away from pahes and once again a runner in scoring position here in this ninth inning for the socks on an couldn’t smother that now a hit wins the game pitch ground ball to short morero’s got it and a clean throw to first gets the cardinals out of trouble it’s never easy but it sure is fun romero works around some traffic in the ninth inning and extra innings are coming your way in a 66 game two dan alilla is going to come on and pitch for the white socks our game moves to the 10th inning redbirds will pinch run jordan walker for him and it’ll be alec berles just waving at it three straight change ups and altavilla the strike out here’s aronado home run number 350 in his career came in the third inning nolan also a fifth inning single little squibbert through the whole right side walker around third they’re going to wave him here comes the throw it’s cut off aronado to second and he’s out aronado with his third hit and second rbi tried to go first to second he’s thrown out walker scores to put the cardinals in front and n bar digs in swing drive rifle to right newbar gone lars newbar with an ambush and the cardinals score two in the 10 the ever important second run in extra innings for the visiting team a lars newbar homer that’s his ninth of the season and a huge insurance run and now the focus is on andre grineo who will never forget this day in chicago but all greno did was pick up the victory got his first major league win in game one of this double header now he’s got an opportunity to get a save in the same day but that’s a pretty impressive feat he’s got a chance to chase in the air towards right center field jordan walker moves over he calls for it he’s now in right takes the catch and gets it in and no advancement either of the runner at second base and now the cardinals have to contend with lenin sosa popped him up walker drifts back now in a step or two two soft fly ball outs and the cardinals are an out away from a sweep ryan not the final hope for chicago he homerred his first time up the 3-2 pitch inside ball four and the socks not done yet not is on first base representing the tying run austin slater two for four he does it the cardinals have swept the white socks what a day for andre grineo 8-6 is your final score in extras as grano picks up his first big league save grineo not only with a win today for his first big league win but also his first big league save

Finally I’ve been waiting on St. Louis to release this highlight game
Go birds now just beat the north sideers
mcgreevy is cardinals' future.
Nice to see 350 for Arenado
3 in a row! Let’s go!
Tried to lose this game! What a joke! 😂 Never fails…. Oli and Mo are the worst in MLB history evaluating Outfield talent. Burly has been ok with Noot but think about the last 8 years and how many good outfielders they have traded away… Arozarena, Adolis Garcia, Lane Thomas, Tommy Pham, Tommy Edman and many more. Maybe one day Dewitt will fire Mo! Great win after almost blowing it!
How sweep 🧹 it is 😀💪!
9:33 Smart play by Arenado 👏🏻
TOO … SA-WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP !!!!!! Ladies and gentlemen, UNDISPUTED Manager of the Year Oliver Jose Marmol and his St. Louis Cardinals (the GREATEST team in the league) are like a GIF … "ummm…tastes…like…victory." It's a FACT the squad will go 127-35, TAKE the NL Central, MAKE the postseason once again and in four/five months (depending on when the games are in October/November), POURS CHAMPAGNE and PARTIES with an unprecedented TWELFTH World Series trophy!
That top of the third inning, CHILLS ALL OVER MY BODY … First, Alec Michael Burleson, the 26-year-old from Charlotte, North Carolina, gets the offense rolling by DEMOLISHING a ball to left field, driving in Victor Dwanyne Scott II and a teammate. Then, CLEAR-CUT Most Valuable Player of the League, Nolan James Arenado, the 34-year-old from Newport Beach, California, BLASTS A HISTORIC 350th BOMB to left center field!!!
A teammate in the top of the fourth inning hits an RBI double to right field, bringing in Nolan Brian Gorman.
A FILTHY #SCTOP10 play in the bottom of the ninth inning as third baseman Nolan James Arenado FIRED to catcher Pedro José Pagés for the CRUCIAL out! That PROVES the STL is not only the best offensively, but defensively, too.
In the top of the tenth inning, WINNING ! To kick it off, Nolan James Arenado PUMMELS an RBI single to right field, sending Jordan Alexander Walker to the plate. Lastly, Lars Taylor-Tatsuji Nootbaar, the 27-year-old from El Segundo, California, SILENCES HIS CRITICS with a NUKE to right center field!!
Peeps, HOOT AND HOLLER Michael Steven McGreevy. The 24-year-old from San Clemente, California, GIMME FIVE nasty strikeouts! HATS OFF to Riley Chun-Young O'Brien, John Edward King, Kyle Yandow Leahy, Joseph Abel "Jojo" Romero and Andre Anthony Granillo, all part of the best bullpen in the league, for the FLAWLESS defense!
TIME TO FLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #12in25 #STLFLY
Heya peeps! If you wanna see my hubby 😍 Mitt's comments just go under the "newest" tab.
Mwah! 😘
Perfect way to put a losing streak behind you. Great job Cards
Cardinals fans here
👇😊
I love seeing this team being so willing to hit the ball the other way.
I've had that complaint a number of years. Also to do so with power as well. Awesome.
Burleson needs to be in the lineup err day
Great win! those umpires suck
These guys definitely made the SP pay for that HBP. Well done, Cards!
Nothing like a shadow, halfway between the rubber and home to put a foot or two on a fastball. LOL
Great time to play the White Sox. Hopefully we can take this momentum into the Reds series
That’s pathetic how close the games were
The pitching is awful our bullpen is awful
Good win but can we please not have that again.
No trading Arenado or anyone
"It's never easy but it sure is fun." – 😂
Now yes my fellow bird fans I know we won both games today. BUT remember that this is the Chicago White sox here. So dont get too excited
The cardinal announcers are so yuppie and as bad as the past cardinal announcers were great.
I am praying we get another great radio team, before I pass.
Ugly game, but we'll take a sweep!
Someone please educate me on why Jose Barreo is in the lineup and called up and Thomas Saggesse who plays the same position is in triple A? Saggese was hitting .341 before he got sent down and that wasn't like only in 15 at bats or something he had 41 at bats and was hitting 341 he earned it over Barreo
