Mets vs. Braves Game Highlights (6/19/25) | MLB Highlights
Certainly a tougher lineup tonight for spencer Strider to face as he toes the rubber for the seventh time this season. He had the five losses in the win last time against Colorado. Now can spencer strider build off of that down. He goes, got him on a slider went down and in with that slider, he went golfing for it. Got nothing but air on that swing for Juan Soto, sitting on 999 career hits. Here’s the 22 to SOTO to the right side base hit going into right field. Juan Soto collects hit number 1000 for his major league career. A base hit off of spencer Strider. Not two out hit for SOTO points to the Braves and said, can we please get that baseball? Mike Sarbo, third base coach got it from Austin Riley turns and flips it into the dugout. So congratulations to juan Soto , two outs. First pitch to the left side, a base hit past the shortstop going in the left field, stops in the grass chucks it in as so moves up to second base. So all of a sudden back to back base hits for two guys that are really the anchor of this team. So now starting Marte getting a start against Hander after two hits last night against chris Sale, we Grounder Riley in Riley across two stranded for the Mets is coming up Clay Holmes with a very important start tonight. You know, his last five starts I mentioned and he’s got an, er, a 2.43 in almost 30 innings, but he’s given up the six home runs , which is uncharacteristic for Clay and that’s hooked in the air to left field. Nimmo shading his eyes in the sunshine. He’s got it side retired. Holmes has a 123 opening inning , no score after one and there’s one away, it will bring up the center fielder for the Mets, Tyrone Taylor. Taylor had a nice series three for six and Taylor lines one to right center for a base hit. So the Mets have their third hit against Strider and Taylor is now four for seven in this series. Now, Francisco Alvarez with one out and one on Taylor lengthening his lead. He takes off and Alvarez swings and misses Baldwin’s throw no chance. Taylor got a huge jump for his stolen base of the year 12 to Alvarez, ground ball left side, Allen deep in the hole plants, fires bounces the throw and got him that took him in the shallow left field, charging hard to his right, reached across his Toso for a backhanded grab runner at second top of the second Mauricio seven for 41 in a dozen games since the call up lines one to center field. That’s a base hit Taylor around third heading home. He score without a throw. Mauricio with a two out RB. I hit to give the Mets the early lead for mauricio his third RB. I remember he hit a couple of solo home runs. Those are the only two runs he’s knocked in in his time here. Nimmo leads off in the top of the third drive toward the left field line. Verdugo racing over he won’t get it. It bounces into the corner stays in play. Nimmo goes to second. He stops there with a leadoff double. So Nimmo continues to hit Strider. Well now nine for 18 against him that time on an 02 pitch. Here’s Pete with a runner at second. Strider is set from the belt. Nimmo goes, the pitch is taken called strike throw a third tag by Riley not in time stolen base for Brandon Nimmo and they will not challenge one strike out of the game, make it two strikeouts in the game. Slider fans, Pete Alonso, he went reaching across the plate for couldn’t find it. That’s a big strikeout two away still at third and here’s grounded out his first time up. The slider is grounded all scoop by Mason at first base. He’s the best in the business of that. Allen next to the plate. Here’s the one Allen with a scorcher right on down the left field line, a fair ball kicks off the side wall playing the care on brandon Nemo. And by the time he pounces on it , Allen standing on second base with a double, that’s what you like to see. Apparently that’s the theme the 90 hitters making something happen having for Mauricio in the match as he drove in a run in the second inning and now Allen with a one out double Braves needed it first hit tonight. Now you got a runner in scoring position and Acuna coming up and a hits one past the mound and bounces out to mcneil thrown out for the second time over to third goes Allen two away. Now the Braves need a two out base hit from alex Verdugo who is 0 to 1 with a fly Duran takes the payoff pitch high and he would drive down to first base and that’s ball four runners in the corners for austin Riley and he goes waving at the slider for strike three. Nice job by Holmes set him up inside with the fastball, got him out with the slider away. Spencer. Strider will be facing mcneil Taylor and Alvarez and he’s hoping for a clean inning slider and he had mcneil out in front third strikeout for strider tonight, Tyrone Taylor, he singled and scored back in the second inning nasty slider back to back strikeouts. Stryder has found his weapon of choice. This is a very effective pitch for him. Gary here’s Alvarez Strider tried to strike out the side here. That’ll do it all on the slider ball swinging that put Olson down at first base. Third walk allowed by Holmes as Ozuna digs it and he’ll spank one up the middle base hit in the center field. So walk in a single and the Braves in business. No one out here in the bottom of the fourth inning. The one swung on popped up on the infield foul territory. So no infield fly rule but Mauricio is there to make. The catch is zero for one with a strikeout last night at the bottom of the order. Lots of production line drive to left center Olson. It’s gonna be wave to here’s a throw from Taylor safe. He stepped the hand in there. That was a good way by Freddy Gonzalez, a bang bang play at the plate and it turned out made an excellent throw but too late , really nice slide by Olson. See what nick Allen can do. Remember he had the double last time up. Harris gets set to run 32 and it’s in there. Got the top of the zone for strike three third strikeout for Holmes gets him through further trouble in the 4th 3rd walk issued by Clay Holmes second leadoff walk and leadoff walk last inning led to a run. Austin. Now let’s see what you can do here one out. It’s not a homer, but it’s certainly productive. Cunha is going to head for third Soto’s throw. No chance. Good hustle Maya cunha. I mean, he was picking them up and laying him down 1st and 3rd. 1 out. Three and one. The count. Matt takes Lowe ball four and they’re loaded five walks. That’s got to be a season high for this guy, doesn’t it get the big bear can make him? It’s in there for a third strike , caught looking at a fastball goes away, shaking his head at Paul Clemens. Now they’re two out. That’s a strike. Drake Baldwin. The batter Baldwin has walked and watch it. It takes the lead and that’ll be the last pitch that Holmes throws tonight. Carlos Mendoza bounces out of the dugout and the Braves are on top 2 to 1. Oscar Brazoban worked the 10th inning in the opening game of the series with the losing pitcher. Now he comes into a bases loaded jam in the fifth and he’s got Ozzie who had the RB I single in the fourth Ozzie Green light, no ball four. He forced in another run, two runs in the inning. Thanks to bases loaded walks, seven met, pitcher walks in the first five innings and the Mets in Atlanta once again, the two again to Michael rolled to the right side. Alonso charges right at the bag. He almost stumbles over the bag. So the Braves scored two runs to take a 3 to 1 lead, they score on two bases loaded walks, nine hole hitter. Nick Allen will lead off nick looking for his first homer of the year off the glove of and Nick Allen is going to reach second hit of the night for Nick Allen at a boy, nine walks for Mets pitching tonight and there’s only one out in the sixth inning. You got to take advantage of these. I mean, at the moment, they’re fortunate. It’s only a 31 game with you with nine walks. So this is where to your point. The Braves, you got to blow this thing open down the right field line. Fair. Yes, it will. They can’t. Third bases. Mason and Atlanta breaks it open 48 R Bis for Olson and they didn’t get away with that runners in scoring position. Work there. Did they making them pay? They will eventually come through. And that is it for, this will be the second big league appearance for Justin Haman who did a nice job as the bulk reliever in a game in Minnesota in April. Drake. Baldwin drew a big walk last inning forced in a run. He’s walked twice tonight and fouled out for one. Baldwin puts it in play and he’s going to get an RB I single out of it tack another one off. Olsen scores 7 to 1. Atlanta once it bounced, that really sprung through that second half. Once it hit the dirt it took off. Well, you mentioned the losing streak for the Mets. It’s reached five games and with three outs in the ninth inning, could be a six game losing streak, which would be their longest losing streak of the season. This already is their longest losing streak of the season. So now they run the risk of being swept in back to back series after not being swept all year that out to right center when he continues to strike the ball. So well, this one strikes the wall, another double the one six brought in three runs this one here in the eighth with two outs , seven to one. Braves bottom of the eighth. And here’s Marcelo Zuno, a rocket hit to left field by Ozuna back goes Nimmo and he runs it down. Nice play by Nimmo. He had a great break on that ball. The Mets are down to their final out of the night struck a statement sweep for the Braves over their rival, the New York Mets and the tide may be turning for the Atlanta Braves.
