The 49ers Found A Superstar That Nobody is Talking About | San Francisco 49ers
you guys the 49ers just got a wild report about a superstar potentially that nobody is talking about we’re going to talk about that in this episode hit subscribe if you’re looking for daily 49ers content appreciate all of you for joining all the time in the comments liking all that stuff uh I got a question for you guys who is your favorite defensive tackle for the 49ers you’ll understand why in a minute but but but let me know in the comments who your ride or die defensive tackle is 49ers history pick them go for it i dare you i would say you could even pick a current player but I’m going to guess that that’s not possible for you right now let’s go ahead and hear it in the comments look forward to seeing it fox Sports draft analyst Rob Rang says the 49ers may have struck gold and drafted a franchise star in defensive tackle Alfred Collins here is what he said given the dominant dominance of San Francisco’s defensive line over the past quarter century it might surprise you to learn that the 49ers haven’t produced a defensive tackle with more than one Pro Bowl to their credit since Bryant Young was honored after the 2001 2002 compa campaigns young was big and powerful but also surprisingly agile and a very instinctive defender collins is still figuring things out but his physical traits are like something generated on AI if the 49ers hit on him they truly have struck gold now quick aside and then we’re going to talk about this implied comparison of Bryant Young okay but quick aside nobody is talking about Alfred Collins he’s gotten very very little coverage over the last several weeks after pretty much draft week that was it understandable because he’s the the last remaining defensive tackle that hasn’t signed or last remaining draft pick excuse me that hasn’t signed with the 49ers and we’re seeing film in OTAAS and mandatory mini camp from guys like CJ West and Mike Williams and so it’s easy to talk about these guys and then the Bryce Huff move takes place and so when you’re thinking defensive line you’re thinking Bosa and Huff and you’re thinking CJ West and you’re thinking Muel Williams and you might not be thinking about Alfred Collins don’t forget about this guy who has stepped foot on the training field but that’s about all he’s done there the implied comparison though of Bryant Young like this is one of those moves that you know it’s a dangerous thing to say using phrase like franchise star comparing guys to Brian it’s like when people compare quarterbacks to Joe Montana or Steve Young you’re like whoa slow your horses a bit folks you’re making a comparison you’re you’re making a dangerous comparison by throwing names like that out there because that’s got a lot of weight associated to it of course Bryant Young four-time Pro Bowler first time all first team allpro uh was was second team allp pro three times in his career uh the guy is I think technically still the sack leader for the 49ers if I’m not mistaken by a pretty wide margin uh albeit he did play over 200 games for the 49ers and so you can understand how he can rack up some of those sacks but still you know this is the kind of guy he’s in Canton for goodness sake you’re making a comparison to a rookie who hasn’t even played in OTAAS yet to him so let’s talk about if that’s a legitimate comparison if there’s something that we can really connect here between these two guys to make this kind of a comment okay uh here’s the scouting report for Alfred Collins uh this was uh from PFF a former five-star recruit 6’5 315 an absolute monster no surprise there great length strong upper body powerful hands fights through double teams if you look at just the strengths for a second because again we’re trying to compare him to Bryant Young here so just this just the the strengths here excellent length strong upper body with effective long arm move uh well-built frame good lower body weight distribution violent powerful hands strong enough to fight through double teams is this guy Alfred Collins is is a guy I think of you draft him to stop the run but he’s kind of more of a like jack of all trades kind of defensive tackle in my professional opinion an unprofessional opinion I should actually have said uh but what I like about Alfred Collins okay and then we’ll come back to does he compare to Bryant Young and and is that a fair thing there but when you look at the snaps the snap counts right he takes 287 of his snaps and run defense takes 305 pass rush snaps that probably won’t surprise you a ton because that’s just you know a defense chooses to line up how they choose to line up play how they play and he’s a guy who was a starter and so he was out there okay but then when you look at his gap distribution again you’re seeing kind of a little bit of a balance here where the guy has snapped for multiple reasons and he’s snapped in multiple positions in the AB and C gap uh you know obviously um more in the B gap but but kind of distributed around there okay um when you look at his his grades and kind of where he does kind of stand out he doesn’t stand out in the way Bryant Young stood out or stands out in my mind as a sack guy right uh but he does stand out in battled passes tied for first with six battled passes in 2024 uh fifth place uh among all big board defensive linemen from uh PFF’s big board which I want to say I can’t remember it’s either 300 or 500 players deep something like that um but and and with 21 run stops so this is a guy that is a massive body a huge frame and again to go back to what uh uh what was his name rob rob Rang said this is a guy whose whose body is built like he was generated by artificial intelligence i mean that is some kind of comparison there this is a an individual who is a massive fellow and who could develop into a very very powerful defensive tackle he’s still a rookie he’s he’s still he’s actually only started uh most of his games in 2024 in the previous seasons for the te for Texas he was only out there as a Longhorn um for a handful of the games each season so he’s still developing he’s still young he’s still inexperienced in some regard but a guy who’s developing and has the body has the athleticism has the size that you’re looking for at the position so definitely a worthy draft pick some people say a little bit high okay whatever i’m not going to argue about uh whether where he was where he was picked things played out the way that they did now I’m at the point where we look at these players and say “Okay what can they how can they contribute how can they be involved?” And uh the expectation based on where they draft Alfred Collins is that he’s gonna play so you’re expecting him to play this season we’ll have to wait and see on all of that we’re 26 days out by the way for rookies reporting to training camp um that’s awesome that’s really exciting we actually finally have a date we have a time uh so we can get excited about that i’m already excited about that and thinking about that a lot let me know in the comments both how you feel about Alfred Collins the draft pick are you disappointed there are you disappointed that Alfred Collins hasn’t stepped foot on the field right or hasn’t he stepped foot hasn’t actually done anything in OTAAS are you like ah you know it’s no big deal he’ll sign when he signs he’ll be healthy when he’s healthy everything will be fine he’ll be ready to go for training camp which is really important that’s the time when you really need him showing up ready to go in just 26 days he’ll be ready to go that’s what we’ve been told by Kyle Shanahan so Alfred Collins we’re going to get a chance to take a good look at him very very soon and it will be absolutely fascinating to see how he plays this season could you comparing him to a franchise star though maybe a bit of a risky play a bit of a risky play i put it in quotes in the thumbnail because I wanted to be clear this isn’t me saying he’s going to be a franchise star this is somebody else out there who’s making that claim but a draft analyst for Fox Sports not a nobody so I like the comparison i mean of course I would love to hear comparisons to Bright Young that’s that’s that’s a comp that any 49ers fan would love to hear however caution between now and uh let’s say middle of training camp let’s just watch and see what we can get out of the guy absolutely has all the potential in the world could absolutely be a a star player and interesting I think most interesting in all of this is is the fact that he was chosen over any of the other draft picks to be a franchise star something worth thinking about in its own right look forward to seeing what you have to say in the comments about that one and hope you guys are having a fantastic Thursday afternoon

Comparing him to BY is a stretch. What I think we may have that we haven't had in a while is a dominant interior, similar to when BY and Stubby played alongside each other. And that! Would be AWESOME!
If he’s actually anywhere near Bryant we got a Beast!!!! I hope they’re right!!!
No comment yet!!
1:01 Our biggest mistake in defense ever was letting Buckner go instead of getting rid of Armstead and or others… absolutely insane we did that! Uggggghhhhh I really really hope Evan Anderson Alfred Collibs or CJ WEST steps up in huge ways 🙏
Bryan Young
Michael Carter. Former Olympic shot putter. Won the silver medal. Probably before your time. Collin’s has the same build. Similar athletic history https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dolUSiJhR7I
The dude has not signed
Bryant Young
GOAT? Easy. Begins and ends in Bryant Young. Bosa is up there too, but I’d put Nomellini over Bosa. Also too much drama w/Stubblefield.
Bryant Young is who I think about when I think of 49er DT's.
Collins is going to get three top tier contracts from 49ers and play 10 years
