NHL STREET Hockey Clinic in Atlanta | NHL UNITES
today we’re at the A Willley Brown Boys and Girls
Club in conjunction with the Atlanta Gladiators putting on a street hockey clinic introducing 100
kids to the game of street hockey We’re going to teach you guys the basics of street hockey Has
anybody ever played hockey before anybody ever play this is my first time playing hockey Never
did it before It’s been good so far cuz I got all my friends in here It’s my first time playing
street hockey It was very fun I got to play with my friends This is a fantastic opportunity
for us to get in front of some kids that thought maybe they didn’t have an opportunity to play
or or to try it And that’s the great thing about hockey When you get a stick in your hands your
attitude about hockey changes Maybe you didn’t think hockey was for you but then when you try
it for the first time you fall in love with it more often than not We’re alongside the Atlanta
Gladiators who are here to help us teach these kids in support of their Black Ambitions Night
which is taking place tomorrow at Gas South Arena This is what Black Ambition Night was
all about really teaching kids the game not just through watching videos and understanding
facts but to really experience it have a stick in the ball in the net and have an opportunity to
learn from some pros What’s the best fighter like being a professional we grew up playing it So I
just love that I get to keep playing So that’s nice Some of my fondest memories were on the
pond playing or playing at an event like this Like I went to New York Rangers youth camps
growing up and those experiences were some that I have forever and hopefully today we’re
able to provide that for a handful of kids and give them lifelong memories and help them become
future hockey players themselves Because you’re attending this clinic today you get a free
ticket to the game tomorrow Did you know that I’ve always wanted to go to a live game without
watching it on TV Street hockey I think was an amazing sport I’ll try to play street hockey more
often and um maybe even play on ice It was fun and I just can’t wait to go to the game tomorrow cuz
I never went to a hockey game in my life Really excited to see the game tomorrow cuz that would
make me have a better understanding of how to play and how they’re actually doing it It was actually
a very fun experience and I like the fact that we were actually able to learn how to play instead
of just like okay go inside the rink and start playing I’m like uh I don’t know what to do So I’m
happy that they were able to let us do that the whole experience I’ve never really played hockey
I like learning about different sports so finding out about hockey is really good for me By going
to where they are it allows us that opportunity to introduce the game and hopefully they fall in
love with it and become a fan In order for Atlanta to really sustain its hockey fandom uh we have
to do a lot of grassroots programming And so we have to get into the kids We have to get into the
schools and we have to teach them about the game Hockey is an inclusive sport It’s a sport for all
and everybody’s here to learn and we’re all trying to kind of spread the the love for the game I’m a
hockey fan I didn’t grow up playing hockey I grew up playing basketball and and baseball But once
I got to see what hockey is it’s the best sport out there Doing events like this shows people that
it is reachable Look how many happy faces are here today It’s it’s tremendous That’s why we do it
The best part of my day was just to get out here and play hockey This has been a real rewarding
experience to see it all come together and to really see the smiles in the the eyes of the kids
man It’s nothing better than that and I can’t wait to do it again Did everybody have fun today
