Great. We get older, slower and less skilled plus have the captain of the team who covered up systemic sex abuse in one of the biggest scandals in NHL history. Awesome stuff Jets, keep on making those feel good moves.

Has an NHL player ever signed to a team in a city where he already has rinks and community halls named after him? Best case 2C, worst case 4C. Worth it either way. Filled seats and jersey sales will also come along with a guy who brings a lot more to the table than points. Especially in a city like Winnipeg, and a province like Manitoba. He’s a big name who chose to be in Winnipeg, when he didn’t have to. It couldn’t be more low risk, potentially high reward. Hard to not be happy about that.
I’m curious and cautious and interested but not hugely excited. Hoping to be proven wrong
As a hawks fan, comments about his decline have been greatly exaggerated. He wins faceoffs and plays very sound defensively. It was a suprise when he announced he was taking a break. Its not like he became a liability on the ice at all. His offense dropped off sure, but he was still scoring at a 20 goal pace on the worst team in the league in his last season. People also forget he’s only had one 80 point season in his whole career. Its not like he was ever some offensive powerhouse.
And maybe most importantly, he ALWAYS showed up in the playoffs.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one

Could be the answer @ 2C, but also may burn out in training camp. I guess from a positive prospective, he’s the same age as Marchand, but has less mileage!
Love that Toews is coming home but does anybody else feel like at the price it means Fly is going to walk? There’s only so much money to go around

I’m curious, how did he prove he was actually ready to come back? I mean, he hasn’t played any games.
Can we get Mark Stone? Max Domi? Seth Jarvis? Ryan Reaves? Make an entire home line?
Jonathon has been a consistent 50-70 point player his entire career. Those skills just don’t evaporate into thin air. If he plays well he’ll get paid. If he doesn’t he’ll get scratched and the Jonathon Toews experiment will only cost us 4 or 5 million. Which isn’t the end of the world. I think he’ll produce with a motivated Jets team.
I have very low expectations for his on ice play. It is good to have a few guys that have won it all on the team. Seems a bit pricey for such uncertainty though…
