Toews’ homecoming the right move for Jets -> By [Ryan Dixon]

I’m super pumped about Toews coming to the Jets.
Even if he is 50% of what he used to be, he’s still one of our best in the F group alone. Low risk high reward and bonuses can count towards next years cap if they all hit. He is an elite centre who’s a bit older and has some health challenges but still an amazing player in the end.
Teemu Selanne came back after a couple years off, and was still very effective. Maybe not rookie season Teemu, but still a big contributor.
He credited the time off for extending his career.
Toews is coming back from sickness, and hopefully that’s all out of his system.
Everything I’ve heard is that he’s in amazing shape, that doesn’t tend to happen if he’s suffering from a lingering illness.
This could be really good.
I hope it’s really good.
If nothing else, maybe he could win an occasional faceoff, something that’s been a problem forever.
Contract pay has a pretty low base, so if he performs well and plays often to earn the bonuses, that’s great. If not, it wasn’t a big investment anyway.
