Doesn't feel right having our best hitter batting in the 6-8 spot, where most his PAs have been. Its not like he's a rookie on a hot stretch but with an unsustainable whiff and K rate like Lugo and Paris were (which is why I was fine with them batting low in the order). Jo actually has one of the lower strikeouts on the team. I think he should at least be batting 5th over Travis/O'Hoppe.

I would agree. I have been thinking about it now that Soler is injured. Adell seems to be settling into an all-or-nothing type batter.
Didn’t realize O’Hoppe has a 34%/ko.. actually wild
jo isn’t out best hitter but I was just thinking about this yesterday and I ended up believing, don’t mess with it. he has the most homers of anyone, in June.
this guy was drafted 8 years ago and is finally showing life of a top 10 pick. let him bat where he is through July and if he continues, lets move him to clean up aug 1.
either way, it’s a good problem to have. shoot, maybe we can get lucky and all of a sudden have silseth, dana or Bachman develop too
The problem is that Adell, O’Hoppe, and Ward are all extremely streaky hitters. O’Hoppe and Ward have, at least, proven to be successful over the course of a full season. Adell has gone on heaters before, but has ended each season with well below-average productivity.
IMO it’s not beneficial to keep switching guys around based on who has the hot bat that week. This team isn’t going anywhere unless O’Hoppe and Ward break out of their slumps… and soon. I’d rather let them ride it out and have Adell continue to produce in the middle of the lineup, rather than stacking all of their “hot” bats towards the top and creating a black hole in the middle.
Adell’s production comes from his power. He doesn’t get on base and table set at all. Lower is better.
I think Neto, Schanuel, and Trout make a lot of sense at 1-2-3.
The question is then where do Ward, Adell, and O’Hoppe hit? At the moment, of the 3, Adell has the highest wOBA (and xwOBA), so I think putting him as high as 4 could be reasonable.
We also have a serious lack of left-handed bats (Schanuel, with Rengifo as a switch hitter), so it’s not like we can play around too much with alternating in the lineup.
Not entirely sure why our catchers (the apostrophes) seem to always bat 5th regardless of which one is playing, their recent performance, our opponent, who’s around them in the lineup, etc.
When Ward was hot, batting him 4th was a good idea. But his recent slump is really hurting our ability to score when Neto/Schanuel/Trout get on base.
Neto, Schanuel, Trout, Adell, Ward, Catcher, Rengifo, (two of Moore, Wade, Newman, Kingery, Campero)
