San Diego Slugging | Royals Power Way to Series-Opening Win

Bobby Whit and the Royals might be back on track after sweeping the Texas Rangers this past week. While Manny Machado and the Padres are coming off an emotional series against the Dodgers, they’ve lost seven of 10 but will last nice win spark a turnaround for them. And as we’re getting ready to watch, nick Pota make his 15th start of the season. He loves pitching at Peco. This is a fantastic pitcher ballpark, so he really trusts his defense. Jonathan steps into the batter’s box to lead off tonight’s game grounded to third base and he’s got it near the line, gets rid of it quickly from foul ground and in time to get welcome home Manny Machado, Manny Machado with a sparkling play to start the night. Bobby is seven for his last 15 from nearly 500 over his last four games, three doubles. A homer. He’s scored six runs in that span as well. Andris one deep left field and Bobby Witt turns on one and puts the Royals up one. He got a hanging curveball and he hammered it. He continues to rake. Yeah, Bobby baseball 10th homer of the season. He’s, he’s gearing up. He’s telling the boys get on my back. Let’s go. Bases empty. Two outs for Vinny Pasin and Pascu lifts one to center Wade Charges makes the call on the catch on the run. Bobby Witt Jr with a solo shot as the Royals up 1 to 0. Big ovation for fernando here in the bottom of the first inning. Everybody obviously very relieved that he’s able to go here tonight. So Michael Lorenzen takes the mound, 15th start of the season. He enters with a 491 a and he’s out in front of the off speed stuff from Lorenzen for the first out, first pitcher right back to Lorenzen and it will be a 1 to 2 to 3 1st for Lorenzen and the Royals, Jack Cleon steps to the plate as a major league player with two career home runs. They both came yesterday against the Rangers in Texas. Cag Leon smacks one in the right field corner and that’ll dribble all the way to the wall, dig for two and get in there standing up 109 miles an hour off the bat and he’s in scoring position now for freddie, for me, for me, lifts one towards the gap dying fast and allowing sheets to track it down on the run. But it feels to me like gavin Sheets has gotten more and more comfortable out of field, more playing time that he’s got brings up nick to left field in the air. She a terrific catch from gavin sheets and that just saved a run two really good plays from sheets in left field and that ends the top of the second inning. Jack Cleon gets stranded at second 31 is inside ball four. So Tyler Wade draws a one out walk here in the bottom of the third inning and now speed aboard as the order turns over for fernando gets to the backstop and Wade will get to second but Tatis a day after getting plunked hits the deck here, Michael Lorenzen hears it from the San Diego fans but it appears to be no harm, no foul. That’s not called a strike ripper behind the plate. Unimpressed puts two men aboard for luis luis pops this up to shallow right tag Leone coming in, not a natural outfielder, but trying to learn the position on the fly makes the catch. Now bring up the dangerous Manny Machado who’s having another big season this veteran for comes home and Machado grounds one to third cut off by garcia to end the inning, but the Padres unable to scratch across the run as we’ve completed three top of the fourth inning for the Royals. Now, Michael Garcia leads off, he struck out his first time. He faces Nick Pota. Righty Garcia line drive single to left to lead off the fourth and that brings up Vinny Patino. There’s a base hit to right for Pasquin and it’s back to back hits for the Royals to start the fourth two on and one out for Cag Leone double steal home throw to third plenty of time to now, garcia six for 20 three for Diaz really good. The open side with Cag Leone as a left hander. So it’s a much easier throw for a catcher. Just a late break from Garcia Cleone bouncing ball. First base side, gobbles it up to the having trouble locating the strike zone. It a four pitch walk to Nick Lofton back to back walks to start the fifth inning and the Royals are set up runners on 1st and 2nd. Nobody out. And now kyle Isbell steps to the plate and it would be shocking if he didn’t bunt the pitch. Isbell squares drops the bunt down right back in the mound. Beta scoops it up only play to first. He makes it with cronenworth covering Isbells out successful sacrifice two in scoring position with one away for Jonathan India as Beta comes home and it’s launched to left field by India back to the track. The three run homer from J of India. That was loud. It’s four to Royals in the top of the fifth inning. A 403 ft shot just the third time the Royals have hit a three run homer this season. Trenton Brooks leads off the bottom of the fifth inning. There’s a hard hit ball fair up the right field line. Trenton Brooks with a rocket that kicks out of the corner. He’s at second, took a peek over his shoulder after losing his helmet decided to stay put there. It’s a leadoff double and a rocket at that from Trenton Brooks his first career big league double one down in the bottom of the fifth nine hitter. Tyler Wade shoots this the other way backhanded by dribbles. Brooks stays put at second, the ball hit in his direction. And so Wade is aboard, the Padres have two on and one out. And here comes trouble with Tatis, Tatis. This up. The middle is dives and makes the catch put a star next to that one, robbing Tatis of a hit and potentially the first run of the game for San Diego and now two down, it will be left up to put this in the right foot base hit around third to score and the Padres are on the board one out. Nobody on Xander singled in the second inning and has also drawn a walk. So he’s still officially six for his last six and Bogart shoots it to right to win the battle. Second hit for Xander tonight. And now it’s Jake Cronenworth left handed in to face Serpa who’s been on a roll and we rolls it up the mound for a base hit Bogart’s around second and he goes first to third to set up the Padres with runners at the corners and one out run at first Bogart to third one out and off the bench. Jose Iglesias has picked up a bat to pinch in for San Diego Iglesias to right field of base hits, comes home stops at second Iglesias stops a big over streak. Knocks in a pitch hitter to make it to knock as a pitch hitter to make it 4 to 2 and now two on and two out for gavin sheets up the middle in the score. Here comes Machado bounces round through the right side base hit to keep the rally going. Not in time. Xander Bogart is now eight for his last eight and the Royals have a golden opportunity to take the lead in the top of the eighth inning runners on 1st and 2nd. Nobody out. Salvador Perez at the plate and he muscles one into left field for a base hit. They’re given a green light to Garcia to come home. The throw is off line and Kansas City retakes the lead and Drew Waters steps to the plate for the first time tonight and Waters lines one to right for a base hit an insurance run for Kansas City and one out of four with a double and a run that one out. Nobody on here is off the hand. Tober is there two go by to in the infield garcia off third and the Royals are back at 500

Bobby Witt Jr. and Jonathan India hit a pair of home runs to lead the charge to a Royals win.

  1. Ngl, most of yall are fair weathered like a mf. Talks the most shit when the team is in a slump then pronouncing how good of a team they are and we’ll be in the playoffs dominating. Pick one and stick to it

  2. Dude made the better blade… but deciding to use a Wal Mart rake for the handle was not a good idea at all πŸ˜‚ that 20 years of experience never taught him that, I guess….
