The Oilers didn’t deserve this

while this stanley cup final started as one of the best ever felt like we were in for a tight series game three i think was the reality check that was an embarrassing effort by the oilers and while i do think edmonton showed some great fight this series at times it just wasn’t sustained as we saw in game five they came out just flat again as the bad opening periods became a trend but forgetting all of that coming into a game six with the chance to push this series back to bura for a game seven for the cup you’d think the oilers with absolutely everything on the line would put up a good fight dryidle even mentioned not being down two nothing after the first would go a long way and yet sure they came out with a burst of energy early but four minutes in ekholm with a not great pass to buchard he fumbles it and reinhardt pouncing took advantage of echome’s bad positioning here gets to the middle of the ice and beats skinner glove side just a fantastic effort to get the opening goal from reinhardt but not good enough from edmonton and then in the final minute of play bousard with a turnover but then look at this coming back a twoon three in edmonton’s favor and yet they give up their own end way too easily lsterinan finds kachchuck and he would beat skinner gloveside as the florida panthers with two in the first meant they had multiple first period goals in every single game of this series just look at this first period split between these two teams this series insane as sure enough it was two zip after 20 and then we got this that third goal i mean what the hell is skinner doing i totally get why fans would be upset with him here this one was brutal and so with all three opening goals not exactly amazing ones to give up and while we had a beachball out there on the ice i think throwing some shade at skinner i have to say i don’t think goalending or defense can solely be blamed when you get this on the scoreboard this isn’t going to do it and truthfully mcdavid just one goal this series need to own some of this i don’t think the oilers played a game deserving of pushing it to game seven and with three out of six games nowhere near good enough their play certainly wasn’t worthy of a stanley cup you have to obviously acknowledge heyman and that injury that was a major blow and who knows how things could have been but yeah on the other end though the florida panthers absolutely earned another cup they set a new record for the most minutes led in a stanley cup final and on the back of great goalending once again bob gravski like he did all series able to instill a certain level of confidence back there he made some key saves again in this game six he did give up that one late in the third but who really cared at this point of course reinhardt also scoring not just a hattie but putting up a four-goal performance in game six that of course was very impressive but yeah as time expired the florida panthers in dominant fashion are your 2025 stanley cup champions an incredible run they’ve been here three straight times the miles they have put on impressive stuff now some key storylines out of this one kachchuck revealed he had a torn adductor muscle off the bone and played through a hernia just hockey players man and speaking of him he and kane had an incredible battle this series that goes back years but with 2 minutes remaining in the game kane gave kachchuck a final good whack and got a 10-minute misconduct out of it meaning he left the game and did not come back out for the handshake line which i’m not sure how i feel about that then cory perry officially the unluckiest man on the planet he has played in five stanley cup finals in six years and has lost every single one of them on the other end how about brad marshon had himself an absolutely fantastic series coming into florida at the trade deadline has to go down as one of the best acquisitions ever he had six goals this final with three of them being gamewinners you just have to be happy for the little bowl of hate then a guy once his bitter rival now turned teammate sam bennett with 15 goals the leading goal scorer being awarded the k smite which was welld deserved but he is a ufa in less than two weeks so that’ll be interesting to see if he stays but that will about do it back-to-back stanley cup champions 359 days apart congrats cats fans this doesn’t just happen so enjoy once again it has been a blast this season covering this great sport i don’t take it for granted and i thank you truly while the nhl made posting difficult at times and it puts the future of this channel in a bit of a weird spot going into next season for now i just want to say thank you as i’m going to enjoy my summer off i hope you enjoy yours but yeah again i can’t say it enough thank you

While this final started as one of the best ever and felt like we are in for a tight series, we got a reality check in Florida for game 3. The Edmonton Oilers gave an embarrassing effort and lost to go down 2-1 at that point. And while the Oilers showed some great fight back at times during this Stanley Cup Final, it was simply not sustained for long stretches of time. Game 5 back in Edmonton, they came out flat again and fell 3-2 facing a back to back elimination at the hands of the Florida Panthers. So with the season on the line, you would think they would come into a game 6 ready to give it their all and while they had a good start, a defensive breakdown led to a turnover and the opening goal for Florida. Then another giveaway and playing to timid in their own end led to a 2nd straight with Tkachuk scoring as for the 6th game this series, the Panthers had scored 2 or more goals in the opening period. Exactly what Leon Draisaitl said they couldn’t do coming into this game. Skinner then all but handed the game away with a terrible sequence leading to Reinhart’s second of the night and it was all down hill from there. A single late 3rd period goal when the game was all but over and nothing from either Draisaitl or McDavid, was simply not going to ever be enough to deserve anything but defeat. The Panthers however, were dominate all series and absolutely earned their back to back Stanley Cup. Congrats, Panthers fans! I cover it all more in todays NHL hockey video!

  1. What do you mean, Oilers “didn’t deserve this”?

They had no depth, they had not goaltending, they overachieved in the earlier rounds, they acted like thugs right when people were starting to root for them. Game 3 they went from most general hockey fans rooting for them, to having fans root against them. Think how bad you have to mess up for people (outside of Boston or Miami), to start rooting for Brad “Weenie” Marchand.

  2. Some back breaking non-calls all series do leave bitter what ifs… not all up to the officiating… but there were 5 goals scored by the cats as a result of a missed call. Oilers got away with missed calls too, but rarely if ever did the panthers suffer because of them.

  3. As a bias Stars fan…After the oilers' unnecessarily slashing Hintz's foot (breaking his foot), I think this is exactly what they deserve…

…but also you can't win games if you don't score goals…(yes, they got 1 garbage time goal)

  4. Why are Oilers fans surprised? With Perry on the roster, they were destined to lose in the finals. Who didnt see that drim a mile away? McDavid will get his cup some day… but not with Edmonton.

  5. They absolutely deserved this. Frankly, they are very lucky this series wasn't a sweep. Save for lightheadedness in Game 1 in OT (throwing the puck out of play) and Game 4, this series is easily a sweep.

  6. We have to live in reality.

I wanted Edmonton to win….but they didn’t show up to play. Florida was on their ass the entire time. Lucky it wasn’t a sweep.

A couple franchise players are no match for old school NY Islanders depth, hustle, and clutch play.

    The better team won.

  7. It’s all goaltending. Oilers got plenty of chances and shots on net every game. Skinner sucked. Bob played ridiculous. The age old saying never dies, it’s all about the goaltending… special teams too

  8. It's about every team member in every position on ice giving their all and providing team depth. Goaltending is critical but it's not everything.
