Aaron Rodgers Went On A “Diatribe” About The New York Jets Running Game Last Year

[Music] all right guys what’s going on welcome in so there was an article released over on the NY post title it came out last night titled Aaron Rogers went on a 25minute diet tribe about the Jets running game and as we all unfortunately remember last season the Jets running game was awful it was absolutely awful right 31st in rushing yards per game 32nd in rushes per game so they’re not even trying to run the ball god I remember watching these games thinking to myself like you know they they try to like get Bree Hall involved like in the first quarter and if it like doesn’t have success in the first two drives it’s like all right we’re done running the ball only throwing the ball from now on we know that Aaron Rogers had a lot of say at the line of scrimmage trying to you know get his guys involved devonte Adams Alan Lazard it it was just a complete mess absolute mess but anyway the article goes on to give a quote from Mark Schlerith he said that uh Aaron and I had a conversation about when he was with the Jets how abysmal their running game uh was and how schematically it made no sense and this is over on the stinking truth podcast according to steelers.com he goes on to say I started the conversation and then Aaron went on for about a 25minute diet tribe on their running game now I think the thing that just stands out and it’s obvious amongst Jets fans the only reason why these coaches were here was to please Aaron Rodgers the Jets did everything they possibly could have for Rogers they went out and they signed his friends they traded for Devonte Adams they were bringing in all these like you know veterans on one-year deals bringing in all these former Packers hiring Nathaniel Hackett as the offensive coordinator it’s like the whole reason why the Jets were in that position with those coaches with that scheme with these players was because it’s what Aaron Rodgers wanted like if we look at how the Jets were built uh you know they they draft Brilen Allen they draft Isaiah Davis you have Aaron Rodgers at what 39 40 years old coming off an Achilles injury with a couple question marks on the offensive line the common sense would be to run the football run the football control the clock break down the defense take pressure off of Aaron Rogers you’re limiting the hits that he’s going to take we’re kind of thin at the wide receiver position we’re kind of thin at the tight end position let’s not exploit those guys let’s not put the spotlight on them let’s run the ball with these three young backs with a lot of tread on the tires here that are really you know you can tell an like the they have that fire they want to go out and make plays and we don’t do it it’s stuff like this where it just kind of reinforces um the jets going in a different direction right we’ve had basically zero distractions since Glenn took over we’ve had you know I mean how many leaks have the Jets had coming out of the building hardly any again I’m just thankful to be moving forward in a different direction here um and one last point quick little video here one last point aaron Rogers is going to the Hall of Fame robert Solo was coaching for his job we knew the amount of pressure on this team you mean to tell me we went the the entire season the entire season aaron just went the entire season knowing like how bad the offensive system was the running game was enough no changes were made it’s kind of like a microcosm of that Jets regime as a whole like not being proactive not adjusting whether it’s in-game or throughout the week or monthtomonth just man Aaron Glenn Darren Muji Justin Fields i’m excited for the future so anyway let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section thanks so much for watching and as always go Jets [Music]

  7. The run game opens up things later on. Rodgers used to be so good he didnt need to establish run. He later became predictable and refused to change his game despite his decline as a passer. I love rodgers but hes stubborn. I hope tomlin doesnt let rodgers audible everything for pitt to turn pass heavy.

Not surprising…the Jets running game was horrible but Rodgers makes it seem like he was mystified by this…meanwhle as Ian points out, we had bad coaching because we had them thanks to Rodgers, and Rodgers audibled out of almost every run down to throw. He can of course claim he did this because the running game stank, but this is the chicken and the egg…was the running game bad and he was forced to throw it or was the running game bad bc he insisted on throwing so much? When you are 31 in run attempts it is likely the latter. It is really hard to establish a run game when you don't even try to run.

    Hopefully this will piss off the Jets players and Greene and Wilkes will cook up an aggressive defense to shut Rodgers up ( something Saleh would never do).

  11. Most of you will call me crazy or “conspiracy theorist” but I know from a very good source that the entire Rodgers-Jets debacle was planned long before he ever put on a Jet uniform. Even the Reddick drama was pre-planned. That’s all I’m going to say regarding that. All Jets fans should be glad he’s gone.

  12. When you have an incompetent coaching staff it's hard get many things to go right on game day. 2024 was a complete disaster in every sense of the word for the New York Jets.

  19. Personally I wouldn't listen to Schlereth.. Jets will have a completely improved rushing attack & not just because of Fields/ The new OC & system in place dictates that, plus Hall is going into the second year from a turn ACL. He'll be clearly better

  23. Rodgers is a HOF talent 10 years ago. He was the reason this team was so brutal. Face reality Aaron. Sean Payton was 100% correct. Your buddy Hackett had no clue in Denver or NY and its all on you for demanding Jets made him the OC.

  36. Rogers seemed to not care he was a clubhouse cancer and we brought him here anyways. I am glad we moved on from him. The season ended once they fired Saleh. The defense seemed lost and Rogers was definitely calling the shots offensively. I look forward to 2025 let’s bring toughness back to the Jets and have teams say damn they pushed us around all game.
