Chicago Cubs vs. Seattle Mariners MLB game highlights (June 22, 2025) | Marquee Sports Network

it’s a hot sweaty Sunday here in Chicago summer heat cubs taking on the Mariners fans heading on into the ball game hopefully hydrated to block off that heat about to get things started cubs taking on the Mariners finale of this threeame set it’s been a very very fun weekend here at Wrigley Field elements the wind the sun the heat lots of homers the big thing is you’re trying your best to just stay behind the baseball but ultimately at the end of the day you’re trying to catch the ball right you just want to catch the baseball however you can um and when you out there dealing with these things everybody is dealing with you’re dealing with everybody’s dealing with the heat everybody’s dealing with the sun um but I think at the like like I said at the end of it you just want to make sure that you give yourself the best chance to catch the ball and that’s it check check check the check the wind all day check check the sun all day uh and and play it colin Ray he is getting the start today look we were just talking about the fly ball as we saw it yesterday so want to try to keep it in the park there’s two things right away that I think we should watch for Ray if he’s been vulnerable it’s been against lefties given up two times as many homers against righties and that first inning he can struggle a little bit given up two runs in three of his last four starts in that first inning i highlight that in particular because you got Cal Raleigh hitting third today so he’ll be hitting lefty against Ray and you just want to try to keep the ball down keep it in the park Alex all right Colin Ray on the mound mariners lineup brought to you by Ford crawford Rodriguez Raleigh 123 Palanco Rosa Raina Garver 456 Solano Canzone and old friend Miles Master Bony 789 and he gets his first base hit today well speaking of power Cal Raleigh up and Cal Raleigh out to center field pca back at the wall and Cal Raleigh does it again my goodness fourth home run of the series 31st of the year and it’s two to nothing Mariners you can’t say enough about him i mean he is a one-man wrecking crew at this point and this is just a middle middle fast ball from Colin Ray and and Riley’s like those don’t go those go far you can’t make that mistake against Raleigh not the way that he’s been hitting this season that’s rope to right and another hit for Jorge Palanco that’s a one out single and the Mariners ambushing Colin Ray early in counts here today it’s really Oh yeah a pickoff here throw to Colin Ray the tag and he got him nope we’ve seen that now a couple of times in this series keane Horton yesterday helps him get off a jam and here you can limit some traffic colin Ray just good move the Cubs it has shown that since spring training they have worked on their pickoffs and man is it helping these pitchers working it right now getting in runners heads hard to ball to short nice play by Nico and it gets Randy Rosarena cubs lineup time brought to you by Vinny’s Beverage Depot if you can’t find it at Benny’s it’s probably not worth drinking pat Tucker Suzuki 123 PCA Bush Horner 456 Shaw Maguire Bruhan 789 Logan Gilbert he is getting the start today for the Mariners so this is his second start since coming off the IIL this is a really durable guy this is the first time that he’s even been on the IIL in his career and it’s unfortunate for the Cubs because he is a good pitcher he gets strikeouts he limits the walks it’s tough to get stuff going against him because he’s particular good against leadoff hitters pretty good in to right can zone at the track makes the catch just missed that had the sound 2-1 and out the left Rosarena spins around at the warning track oh man that’ll be another one of those days two away and and you think the wind is blowing out but it’s kind of swirling you look at it from up here that’s smoked out to left it’s gone sea says see 19th homer of the year that was crushed cubs get on the board it’s a two-1 game this home run replay is brought to you by Toyota the official vehicle of the Chicago Cubs and we want more of this elise ambushing first pitch if the does this what I think he can do that ball got in a hurry smoked 111.2 see I’ll make a mistake with the fast wave a miss strike three so Gilbert strikes out PCA tough yesterday that’s it out to left center field well hit pca back it’s another home run [Applause] man second homer of the year for Dominic Canzone he gets that into the jetream and it’s three to one Mariners well Craig Council said it before yesterday’s game if the ball’s going to get in the air you just have to accept as a pitcher it may go out but this is a four seamer and a couple of misses so far early in this game from Ray just too the miss is too much over the plate right kind of middle middle we saw it against Raleigh and now against Kzone contact especially with we see runners in scoring position swings and misses strike three it’s I mean I think it’s 056 against that splitter this year batting average 057 so guys we going to miss him wave a miss strike three get that launch angle where you want it to right field seiya tracking it down and it hits off as Gloss a fair ball rodriguez to second and it’s a one out base runner here for the Mariners [Applause] jose has been out there a lot but you also got to think about he doesn’t play right field a ton anymore with the addition of Cal Tucker so that that wall is coming into play you know presence good pitch colin Ray strikes out Jorge Palco that’s a big second out here in the third well you talked about his secondary stuff at least being strong right and to get the outs he needs he’s going to have to spin the baseball and keep it down in the zone that was a great pitch by Ray just as good as anybody else in this in this sport you got to believe that got him 95 and painted from Colin Ray left side backhanded no throw nice job ian H what out single Tucker swings and misses 156 let’s go money money money money money za pops out and it ends the third cub Strand a base runner will go to the fourth three to one cubs trail he checks in every inning with the sack they make sure that catcher’s doing okay donovan Solano to left to the bleachers it’s gone that’s the seventh hit of the series for Donovan Solano on his second homer of the year solo shot it’s Mariners four cubs won that ball was scorched [Music] well we talked about the secondary stuff but when it’s middle you might get hit a little hard and Donovan Solano didn’t miss that one 102.9 and then you have Ray who’s been really good and Ben Brown has had really good moments shoots into right field it’s a single per can zone that’s part of why it’s even a conversation right how’s master bony singles to left former Cub gets a knock here at Wrigley Field and fires to Crawford got it to first double him up look what I found colin Ray right place right time double play ends the innings bam look what I found perfect let’s go to the bottom of the fourth [Applause] i think the whole world saw it no homer for Pete but that’s into right field lead off single here in the fourth and Pete Crow Armstrong aboard efficient at the same time here goes Pete throw down to second and Pete’s out and Pete motions to the bullpen so he motions to the dugout [Applause] nope let’s see here [Applause] he’s out michael Bush down on strikes you know me too well crowley to right here comes Seyan he plays on a short hop oh my bad and now the two- two out towards right field and a single for Rosarena raleigh rounds third it’s bobble and right the throw to second not at time a Rosarena safe and it’s 5 to1 Mariners [Applause] so Ray goes in with the slider this is the one pitch today it was also the pitch before that he buried in the dirt that I just feel like isn’t quite as sharp as it needs to be when he’s trying to throw for a strike so Rose Arena pokes it the other way sea with a bobble out in right field the run’s going to score on this it’s another nice attempt by Bruhan but just outside of his glove i believe the Cubs have had the luxury of having guys reese Maguire to center julio Rodriguez watches it’s gone reese Maguire dead center solo shot fourth of the year cubs get their second run of the game they trail 5-2 this home run is brought to you by Hefty Hefty Hefty ultra Straw Ultra low price and Reese McGuire said “You talk about Miguel Maya at least.” Excuse me what about me don’t forget me straight away center field fast ball coming in faster going out tucker line drive right field balls in front of Canzone [Music] say again out to left look oh my goodness sea says Sea second of the day 20th of the year comes right back in this one it’s a 5-4 game sea Suzuki what did that ball do to you i mean second of the day absolutely ripped gilbert tries to come in with the splitter leaves it up just enough where Seiya makes this a no doubter gilbert’s not used to seeing that but he is today from Seiya that’s hit in the air to right well struck you got it sea back at the warning track and it’s gone [Applause] dominic can zone first start of the series second homer of the game solo shot mariners double up their lead it’s now a 6-4 game dominic didn’t miss this one another down and in slider that just didn’t slide much kind of spin to Kenzone’s bat and deposit in those less again astrabony up the middle nice play bruhan jump throw to first not at time and now Bruhan down and slowly gets up he’ll retreat back to second that’s hit into right field and JP Crawford with a single that gets away from Reese Maguire the runners advance chopper nico only plays the first and gets Rodriguez so it brings home another run the Mariners with two runs so far in the six they’re back up by three it’s a seven to four game well two it’s a call third strike rough day for Michael Bush third strike out pretty nasty huh yeah he primarily relies on this slider start of the year in TripleA Iowa nice pick by Shaw two out man is he good over there [Music] well we talk about Matty Shaw in the leather look at his jump and then the wherewithal to pick it on that in between hop and a beautiful throw that to Michael Bush some things you can’t teach people he gets out there and puts the work in though 3-2 again it’s ball forward actually two that stick out in Cincinnati that is powered out to left field half is back he’s at the wall and Donovan Salon a multi home run game [Applause] third of the year two-run shot and the Mariners now here in the seventh they lead 9 to4 [Applause] elevated [Music] ah no catch off Justin Turner tucker out to center julio Rodriguez block it’s gone king Tuck nba jam heating up second homer in as many games two-run shot cubs not done yet getting back in this one in the seventh [Applause] well about that location this one’s left over the play thank you oh this game is so funny basketball location basketball location basketball location then 420 to center field he wasn’t locating Miles Master Bony with a three hit game there’s a fast ball that’s pretty much middle middle and he was talking did a great job this offseason of bring guys in out to shallow center field PCA can’t make the catch runner from second stays there on the bloop single for Julio Rodriguez [Applause] high drive left field base hit Young Runners move station to station it brings in a run and it’s doubledigit runs for the Mariners they lead 10 to six [Music] ball third base side and it’s into the left field corner two-run score two-run double randy Arosena and the Mariners lead 12 to six this is some more hard contact and again now this fast ball is more up in the zone check out Rosarena with the lathe kick gets on top of it pulls it sometimes when it comes in hard he can go out harder and Shaw just nothing you can do with that one down the line that is hit up the middle and into center field throw home from PCA that is down the third base line and Donovan Solano having a career day two homers now a two-run single and it’s 14-6 Mariners [Applause] well we have a a fun discussion at home plate and Reese Maguire will have to exit said game [Applause] there it is it’s popped up master Bony makes the catch and that’ll do it home stand ends [Applause]

  1. I hope this is a wake up call for the Cubs. This team has a lot of problems right now and this ain't gonna cut it. Losing to the lowly Mariners is pathetic.

  2. Looks like this is the beginning of their fall as usual. Just like the last few seasons.. they would do amazing in the beginning and than around the all star break or weeks leading up to the all star break they begin losing game after game after game.

  3. People need to chill the hell out😂so we had a bad series against an average team. We’re still literally top three in the league!!!!! They’ll come back strong and once we get Imanaga back soon and hopefully Assad, we’ll be cooking again. Maybe make some nice acquisitions by trade deadline and boom, we have a serious shot in the post season. Might not go all the way with our pitching but we’ll make a great run. But hey, you never know, might even shock the world. Crazier things in sports have happened. We have a great squad this year and it’ll only get better next year if we keep the core crew in tact and build.

  4. I was hoping to see my nephew pitch this time here in Chicago but no such luck. And then the Mariners were here a month ago playing against the White Sox and he didn’t pitch in that series either. What’s the chances on that. I did get to spend time with him for dinner Friday night. I’m going to see him pitch in Seattle sometime in August. My nephew is Brian Woo He’s my sister’s kid. I live in Chicago I’m a big Cubs fan. Yeah loosing two out of three wasn’t good.

  5. Brujan looks like he has no range whatsoever at second. As Harry used to say, “Get the piano off your back!”
It looked like batting practice pitching by the Cubs.
Who were those two people in the booth that were never identified? Was it Invite Some People Off the Street to Call the Game Day at the ballpark today?

  6. Another great manager performance from Craig……this guy is so overrated…..puts the worst lineup ever out there in the rubber match game……Brujan? Suzuki in the field? What?

  7. The Cubs hit a rougher patch – OH NO! FIRE JED! TRADE EVERYONE!! Our fan base is becoming insufferable. Be a fan and realize dudes get tired – but they've played their way into first and are like 15 games over .500. Be an all the time fan or not.. but stop Monday morning quarerbacking every loss.

  8. On May 3rd, I noticed how this year’s team reminded me of the ‘77 Cubs who also started out strong.

Now here we are 1 1/2 months later:

    2025 Cubs 46-31 3.5 in first
    1977 Cubs 48-29 3.0 in first

As with the ‘77 team, this year’s team has a 4-game series at STL in late June.
