Michael Misa or Anton Frondell: Who Makes The Most Sense For The San Jose Sharks With The 2nd Pick?
The San Jose Sharks stand at a crossroads in the upcoming NHL draft, with JD Young providing an in-depth analysis of top prospects Michael Misa and Anton Frondell. Young meticulously compares Misa’s exceptional season in the OHL, where he notched an impressive 62 goals and 72 assists, to Frondell’s performance in Sweden’s second-tier league. Drawing on expert scouting reports from respected names like Tony Ferrari and Scott Wheeler, Young paints a comprehensive picture of both players’ strengths and potential. Misa emerges as a potential top-line center with game-changing abilities, while Frondell is praised for his solid two-way game.
Young builds a compelling case for the Sharks to select Misa, emphasizing the prospect’s higher ceiling and the potential to create a formidable partnership with Macklin Celebrini. This decision, Young argues, could be pivotal in shaping the Sharks’ future. He envisions a core group featuring Eklund, Celebrini, Misa, and Smith, suggesting that this combination could lay the foundation for a championship-contending team in the years to come. The potential synergy between these young talents is presented as a tantalizing prospect for Sharks fans and management alike.
As the draft week unfolds, Young teases upcoming content, including mock draft discussions and on-site coverage from Los Angeles. He maintains a clear stance throughout the episode: the Sharks should avoid overthinking their pick. Young’s mantra of “take the best player and figure it out later” resonates as a bold strategy for a team looking to rebuild and reclaim its position as a powerhouse in the NHL. This approach, he argues, could be the key to maximizing the value of their draft position and setting the stage for a bright future in San Jose.

Trade the 2nd OA to Chicago for Rinzel and the 3rd let Chicago decide and take option B
I just can’t see why Grier would kneecap the team twice by trading Blackwood and Granlund well before the deadline just to draft the “late riser.” In January after WJC-20, Frondell was ranked behind Victor Eklund and barely still in the top 10. This seems like a smokescreen or he’s messing with Chicago so they don’t trade out of the least desirable draft position.
