woo a trade so big we need two shows in one off day and a special guest making their return psychos and sickos unite for a second breaking news edition of PHNX Suns right here on PHNX Sports i’m coming to you live from my home studio and it’s a trade so big it’s a topic so divisive I have to bring in such a great friend of mine you all know him you all love him he is through thick and thin a great voice here in the Phoenix Suns community and somebody who I’m excited to talk to about the trade about Jaylen Green about number 10 overall in the draft it of course is the one it’s the only Flex from Jersey flex my guy how you doing oh man happy to be home baby back on back on PHNX man feels good how you been brother oh dude I’ve been good it’s It’s been a blur it’s been a whirlwind here over at PHNX the last year or so you know covering this season obviously the the highs and mostly lows of it all and you know now we’ve just been sitting on like Katie watch for a really long time so the people in the chat they’re saying Frosted Flex and Flex they’re saying what’s up to you man man how you doing dude i’m good brother i’m good i’m blessed man i miss you guys i love being on with y’all i’m sorry it took so long but this was a pleasure when you when you hit me up and said “Let’s chop some ball.” I’m like man this is great man i’m on the East Coast in my hotel room so I got I got some time baby let’s Let’s have some fun yeah we’ll we’ll get Flex in in full we got him for about 30 minutes here we will definitely tap in with Flex later on in the off seasonason probably sometime after the draft when he’s in state this man is the busiest man I’ve ever seen in my entire life he retired huh how’s retirement treating you Flex it’s it’s it’s been all right man it’s been all right but you know I’m I’m just always busy man so new endeavors new new projects new business new stuff right so just staying busy man um but again man love you guys to death man and and this is fun i’m excited i’m excited man uh for those of you who don’t know I know we picked up a lot of new viewers here uh over the last year or so uh Flex has been a really big part of the Suns community for a long time now was calling in on on the old Arizona sports radio shows you know then turned that into a podcast doing news hits used to live out in Jersey as the as the name suggests and then he was on PHNX for the last season the last year or so and decided to enjoy a welldeserved retirement uh but I dragged him out just for this and uh we’ll we’ll get him on again in a minute so Flex I I mean big day man kevin Durant’s traded the Phoenix Suns look completely different what are your initial reactions to the biggest move of the NBA offseason happening on game seven of the NBA Finals day huh man crazy man um so I my I I I say this man um phone started ringing about quarter to nine on the East Coast right started started to get some calls that oh man this something’s cooking right we getting to the finish line here um so it’s been a crazy day man i literally I’m not joking it’s uh almost 11:30 p.m east Coast time i’ve literally been on and off the phone since 9:00 a.m it’s just been conversation after conversation and so yeah game seven NBA finals man you you I think I thought they were going to wait till tomorrow honestly so that you don’t steal the thunder at the finals uh thunder no pun intended right but um yeah man it happened and they got to it and the draft is Wednesday but my initial reaction is I think the the panic and the overreaction is is a little bit um over the top right now that’s that’s what I’m thinking that’s that’s how I’m feeling we can get into that um I I’ll tell you this uh I I know there’s a lot of people that are looking at this deal and they’re saying “Okay could they have done better than Jaylen Green Dylan Brooks the 10 pick five second round picks right?” Um I’m not as low on Jaylen Green as as most um is he perfect no does he need to improve some things yes um but he is still 23 years old and you know me you know me personally man we we’ve had some great conversations you know the coach the player the trainer and me uh I don’t give up on players i just don’t i just I I’ve seen the transition i’ve seen growth i’ve seen guys at many different late stages of their careers um from high school college and even pro change their games and improve and make adjustments and if if you don’t mind me talking a little bit here about James Green man dude I got I got five shows minimum a week to talk about this i I’m thrilled to have you on i haven’t been able to talk to you personally about this i I know a lot of our listeners man are fascinated please dive deep into it what is it about about Jaylen Green i I mean so many raw physical tools you know was starter on a two seed but you know and for me personally like I’ll be honest with you I I was pretty low on a Jaylen Green centered package so I want I want you to talk to me i want you to bring me over to your side talk me into the Jaylen Green Devin Booker backcourt experience in Phoenix okay so f first things first we we’re going to talk about the physical tricks right um I’m I’m I’m not I’m gonna be very bold here um there’s only maybe two people in the NBA at the guard position that are as physically and athletically gifted as Jayen Green i’m I’m saying Jayen Green is on John Morant level athleticism and attacking the basket okay so you’re talking about a world class freak athlete that um for my money has it’s it’s been a little I think it’s been a little misguided his jud the judgment on him now to your point brother um was I saying yes we got to go get Jaylen Green Jaylen Green no I wasn’t saying that but I knew his name was around the package the whole time and I was because of that doing the deep dive and just asking all the questions and reaching out to trainers and coaches and people I trust and I kept getting the same thing like listen he’s 23 um I’m going to ask you this on the spot and and and and I your pause your pause might be my answer who’s the best offensive player Jaylen’s ever played with best offensive player Jaylen’s ever Fred Van Fleet it’s Fred Van Fleet okay so so there we go right so so that’s the first thing they’re judging him on a lot of splits and analytics and I’m saying okay that’s that’s fair right you know I I I respect analytics but I’m an eyeball guy and I’m saying first things first in the last four years he hasn’t had many offensively talented people around him to really uh elevate his game or make his game easy so he’s taken a lot of tough shots he’s taking a lot of bad shots he’s taking a lot of force shots so that’s the first thing about the analytics but athletically is is craziness man athletically this dude can do some really incredible things and now I wonder I say “Yo if you put him next to Book that’s easily the most talented offensive player he’s ever played with how does that impact this game how does that impact the splits how does that impact the analytics that everybody’s screaming about number two real quick Flex real quick is there any Is there any way your hand is over your speaker that you talk into uh no i don’t think so you can’t hear me i think I I just think it’s a little I can hear you it’s just a little little tiny but if if there’s nothing you could do about it that’s fine i just wanted to I just wanted to make sure that there was nothing we could do there let me let me try to see if uh if you hear me a little better if I put the sec does that change chat’s some chat’s saying you’re cooking man they they want to hear you cook clearly right okay okay um a little better okay i’ll try to I’ll try to speak up as much as I can it might just be because you’re so excited and and I’m a loud guy you and I might be the two loudest people on this planet and maybe your your iPhone microphone uh doesn’t Oh you don’t you’re not even an iPhone guy i don’t even have an iPhone that’s the problem and that might be it either you know we’ve been giving you crap about that uh but Oh look at that thumbs up for me uh but it might just be your your pure enthusiasm is getting picked over the mic but you you were saying number two so he played with Book it’s the most gifted offensive player he’s ever played with uh Book’s also a great passer what’s what’s number two there all right so I’m I’m going to give you number two and I’m gonna give you a number three as well okay so here’s number two number two when I look at this deal that I think is again we we just got to look at it for what it is man um the Phoenix Suns just got the best offensive player and the best defensive player on the second best team in the West that’s as simple as I can put it that that’s my opinion okay leading scorer in Jaylen Green and and arguably their best all-around gutsy defender in in Dylan Brooks off the second best team in the West you add the 10 pick you add five second round picks i can’t see where the drastic drama is here right i mean they’re just trying to get better um number three Jod okay now this is where this is where I I the phone calls and the conversations um are important uh so joy not you know I was a big Johnny Bryant guy but you know I was in the mix with both these guys you know I love my man Kenny Aerson and you know I got ties out there from it being a New York guy so I take that information i’m very It’s very valuable okay um who did you know the back court in Cleveland who’s the back court in Cleveland it’s Garland and Mitchell okay right it’s Garland and Mitchell and I remember a time where we were having the same conversations man same conversations can Garland and Mitchell work they’re too small they don’t play defense this that and the third but we happen to have a coach that has experience with Let me push back though you also have Evan Dan Mobley and Jared Allen manning your defensive middle right and I I listen I like Nick Richards i know I know you like use some Nick Richards as well i’m on I’m high on Oso i’m I’m high on Dunn but that ain’t defensive player of the year and and seven foot interior paint beast and I also think that offensively I I think that Garland and Mitchell fit better together because Garland is more of a pass first type guard and Mitchell is a score first guard and I think a big complaint with people is not that Devin Booker can’t be pass first and not that Devin Booker can’t play point guard but that the fit with Bradley Beal another score first shooting guard the overlap there took away from both of them is there concern for you on on a the defensive side of things maybe not the fact that just Jaylen and Book can can match up to it but what the Suns can do behind them and then b offensively you know those are both two guys Jaylen Green and Devin Booker that I I put them as the best category for them to play as is killer and are you taking away Booker’s killer you are the guy go score mentality and shifting him continuously back to this position that he can play but he’s not his best at man that’s that’s incredible see I love this so I’m I’m going try to get to a lot of the stuff i miss you Flex i miss you i miss you more brother i miss you i miss you more brother this is church this is basketball church right here um all right so one of the first things I want to uh piggy back off of what you said um yes absolutely afraid that you don’t got Evan Moby back there right but but here’s the thing um it’s June 22nd now if you told me right now uh Eric yo listen yo dog this is what we’re playing with this is our team i would tell you catastrophic failure no way we can do this if this is if I knew for certain this is all we were going to do and this is how it’s going to play but I know that not to be true i know that through conversations that I’ve had behind the scenes during this entire Kevin Durant process that the Suns were not only talking to teams about the KD trade but they were lining up other things okay which is interesting as to why five second round picks right um I’m very intrigued by that because I I I think I have information that tells me there’s a very good reason why they were shooting for the five second round picks right i’m not going to press you Flex but is that something you you could share right now or is that something not yet yeah I I’ll tell you this um there was a chance the Suns could have got another first okay and they opted for 5 seconds okay they said make hold the first give me five seconds okay so you got three I I believe you have three first round picks and eight second round picks going forward you got teams that are interested in Bradville okay that there are teams interested in Brad Beal man i I’m going to say this right here on the show and you can clip this and bring it back i do not I do not believe Brad is getting bought out i believe there is a deal that the Suns can make that will get Brad Bill off this roster i believe there are a couple things that have happened to some particular teams um I believe there’s there’s basketball business that’s happening that is gonna is going to put us in a situation where you could potentially move Bradville attach some of that equal for what I’m calling is one year so everybody keeps saying two years but what I’m saying is you just got to get that team has to be okay with Brad for one year and then the following year he’s a a very good expensive expiring contract so I know for a fact there’s two or three teams okay that have had Go ahead talk to me well no I first of all shocked that there are two or three teams that might be interested in Bradley Beal two yeah are and and I’m not going to ask you specific teams because I know that that that’s not what we’re going to talk about here are these teams that you can imagine and and I’m not asking you if you’ve checked on this that you can imagine that Bradley Beal would wave his no trade clause to go to yes uquity yes you’re giving me hope man you’re giving me hope i’m telling this is why everybody’s going crazy and I’m I’m like listen there’s too much that I’ve heard and had discussions about behind the scenes for me to ignore my hear my ears can’t unhear it right so I know I know there’s a situation where Brad uh can’t get traded i know these are situations that Brad will wade the no trade clause i know Brad wants to play brother i know Brad wants to play brad Brad knows he’s still a good basketball player but Brad also is understanding this is a transition bro now you’re behind Devin Booker and Jayen Green staying here doesn’t make sense brother it just doesn’t and if I sat you on the bench and and I’m I’m speaking respectfully because I got a lot of love and respect for Rabio but if I sat you on the bench this year you better believe next year’s and you’re in a worse situation in regards to the pecking order in in the back court this isn’t Taius Jones now so so think about the perspective of Brad’s career his contract his his desire to to get another contract his desire to prove that this wasn’t a a catastrophic like bomb and that he’s still a good basketball player so I believe they’re going to trade Brad i believe that they’re going to trade that Brad for a better package than people think i’m not telling you we’re going to get an NBA Allstar but I’m telling you that some of these holes we’re worried about um could get resolved in this Brad Bill trade i’m telling you that the team that’s going to potentially trade for Bradio is a team that is right now in a little bit of a flux because of a injury and because of financials okay and and and they’re very intrigued of by saying you know we could free up some of these contracts we’re not winning next year um there’s some financials behind the scenes that people don’t know about okay let’s talk let’s get let’s get a deal done and you may find you may actually find your point guard there’s people saying Book and Jaylen Green are playing together i’m not sold on that i I believe Jaylen Green might be a hell of a six-man on this team i believe the Suns can get another point guard that benefits this and now you have Jaylen Green coming off the bench as a sixman i think they’ll address the center position okay i know there’s some free agents that are within the Suns range that are veterans that are going to get vet minimum deals that I know one in particular that was just in Phoenix a couple days ago giving me hope okay so yeah man there’s a lot to discuss brother i don’t think you judge this on June 22nd i think you take Jaylen Green Dylan Brooks the 10th pick five second round picks the now flexibility that you have because you had Katie’s one contract now you’ve broken them up into a couple other separate deals okay you take that you take your new assets and draft capital and you move on to Brad Bill not to mention this incredible fun couple days we’re gonna have on Wednesday and Thursday because I’m excited you know I love draft time baby i’m excited i mean you just you just dropped a flex bomb on PHNX Suns man it took you all of 15 minutes to get back here and just completely just change I I think a lot of people in the chat are saying man like you what what you’re saying it really does change everything and obviously you know I I want to give you a little breathing room and say like things change in the NBA right i don’t want people to leave here and be like hey you know that’s totally going to happen but you know if I’m deducing here I’m not going to say the exact team but maybe this team wants to sell ticks you know maybe they want to you know sell out you know an arena right you know so I I I think it I think it’s interesting Flex I I think it’s interesting man i’m I’m telling you brother listen a team I I I’ll throw some Listen um I there’s some bottom feeders there’s some bottom feeders there’s teams like Charlotte that are poking around that I’ve heard a lot of discussion about a team I’m very interested okay that I need I I I really need everybody to monitor this team and particularly with with some of the situation the Suns are in right now pay attention to Boston pay close attention to the Boston Celtics man um I I’m telling you where the smoke gets fired in this business when you keep having phone calls and you keep hearing the same names you keep hearing the same team brought up um there’s typically something to that right um I I don’t want to get into you know I’m not a a toot my own horn victory lap type of dude but if if you paid attention I was telling people before the Desmond Bane thing I’m here in Memphis man they’re talking about some of these players they’re having some conversations and they pulled the trigger with Orlando right uh Boston is a team that again they lost they lost Jason Tatum’s out for the year okay they’re they they just got new ownership okay that owner doesn’t want to pay all this all this money all right um they’ve got some contracts that they’re looking at and saying you know maybe maybe we can move on so pay attention to them um there’s just too much going on so again you can’t judge this on face value today was step number one uh the draft is very intriguing because I I believe the Suns have some options to do a lot of shaking and baking on Wednesday and Thursday now with some prospects that I really like um and so yeah brother I’m going to tell you right now I’m excited about what the Suns just did i think um I think there’s some things that can happen uh to fill some of these gaps and answer some of these questions and I’ll tell you one more thing brother i don’t want to be longwinded but I I feel like want you to be long-winded Flex the people want you to be long-winded that’s why you’re here i’ll tell you I I’m so excited to be back on with you talking ball and I miss it so much it’s like home Flex it’s like home you know people don’t know but like you know because I was producing when when Flex was on the show but we basically just did our own show before and after the show just talking about basketball every single day every single day and we would joke about it we could have did a show our conversation in the back room could have been a whole show um but you know you know I love talking to you you know I love this network i got nothing but love you guys are family um but I’m talking and I’m kind of rushing like I feel the time i feel the clicker going down and I’m like I don’t want to run out of time man so you know what it may be more than 30 minutes we can keep rocking dog here’s the beautiful thing about what we do Flex there is no time limit right my computer is I’m like you know I get that there’s there have been some questionable things in the last couple years right i get the Brian Gregory thing um I and I never gave you my opinion on that i actually like BG okay i like BG i think he’s a smart guy i think he’s very uh very good at what he does at a collegiate level the scouting all that stuff he’s from the East Coast isn’t he east Coast baby come on man you you know you know my my my It runs deep brother it runs deep east Coast is like near Michigan State there you go there you go so I I like I like BG bro i I do like Jordan right but I’ll say this um so I keep hearing this this this thing and it just doesn’t make sense it’s like the Suns have Brad Deon Book and J guys you got to try the Suns did not make this deal without understanding that there’s no way it’s going to be Deon Booker Jaylen Green and Brad okay you got to give them a little bit more credit than that guys like they haven’t proven that they can do what some people want them to do but I don’t want to put them at like kindergarten elementary level either like you do not make this deal unless you are pretty confident and certain through back channels and through conversations that there’s a Brad bill uh solution right so let’s stop with the 160 million committed to the back core that that’s going to all work itself out and so again uh uh E I’m I’m I’m actually a little bit more optimistic than most man because um I I do believe Ryan Dunn and Dylan Brooks are going to be incredible um I’ve talking to some people around those camps already and the wheels are already turning brother um I think Ryan Dunn has been the lab he’s been working i think he’s going to have a a really good second year um I think Book is ready and up for the task um I’ll tell you another thing what’s today’s date today’s date is uh June 22nd 22nd 22nd um in about two weeks in about two weeks you’ll be hearing about um some Deon Booker news i think everybody knows what I’m talking about okay yeah but you know welldeserved paper coming that way you know that’s going to get done uh ve very shortly um so so you got you know Book is ready to take the challenge brother book is ready to go back to being that guy that um is not deferring that guy that uh is the leader of the franchise with some young dogs around like you can’t Yo E I’m telling you there’s a little bit of excitement right now because um the the young the youth and and the athleticism that they’re about to inject on top of what’s coming um between trades free agency the draft this team will be entirely different i had to do an overunder probably four and a half is the amount of players that are currently on this roster from last year that are going to come back and be on this new roster right um there’s stuff that is what I’m sorry what players do you think are back um obviously Deon Booker um Ryan Dunn uh Oso Gdaro and uh man that next one is tough if I had to guess I’d say Grace grace if I had to guess I’d say Grace okay but I do believe one of two are Grayson and Roy they both been getting shot okay let’s be very clear about that they are both getting shot they are both they’re looking at possibilities for both of them uh but I I I have had enough conversations to know they I think they value Grayson’s uh toughness and three-point shooting especially around Book um and so if they can make a deal for Royce uh they will uh I do think there’s a chance Nick can be back okay so let’s call it five i I I like Nick but Nick ain’t starting okay I’m telling you right now Nick ain’t starting and that’s my boy he’s not starting he’s a backup he’s going to be a backup people that are injecting starting lineups of Nick Richards at center that this it’s not true okay Nick Nick’s going to if Nick comes back he’ll be a backup center on this team there’s other options out there and and stuff that could happen so um man it’s it’s it’s not as bad it’s not as doom as gloom as people thinking man and I’m going to keep pounding i think Jaylen Green uh playing with Devin Booker and getting some relief offensively is going to be uh a spark for this basketball team and a much better player than the analytics are potentially saying gives me Kelly Ubé vibes i remember people didn’t they weren’t thrilled with Kelly Ubé but once Kelly banged on somebody and bumped his head just like I did right there right and that crow got energetic um you you you see a different you see a different thing happening so I think there’s gonna be people that gonna fall in love with Jay Andrew i really do i mean the the the highlights the raw athleticism there there’s no denying that flex I I know you real well and you know me real well i think that when we talk you know we’re very positive people especially when it comes to about young players about fixing the Suns and you and I see a lot of things the same way but I I want to I want to go through a thought exercise with you that I think some people who who maybe maybe think you’re you’re too much Mr positivity right there’s always the haters out there right optimus Flex yeah I got it the misflex right oh man do I still have that oh I got to check that out man put that up put that up i don’t know if we still have it i You know what i’ll find that before we get off here i’ll find it before we get off here but talk to me i I know that there are these paths for the Suns to get better right yes what’s your biggest concern like I know that there are things that can get done what do you think is maybe one of those things that you feel like you know what if I’m the least confident about about you know rerouting Bradley Beal or about finding a starting caliber center or about getting good free agents like what in your mind is the thing that you are most worried about when it comes to this team um the point guard position okay the the the most the thing I’m worried most is uh the point guard position and the the the path to act to acquire that point guard i’ve heard stuff behind the scenes about paths to get caught forwards centers i’ve heard a couple point guards um but the paths get a little difficult on the point guard level so if if I had my biggest fear is that they’re not you know that that would come to fruition and they they weren’t able to land the point guard that necessarily fits i will say that there’s one point guard that they’re targeting that I absolutely love um I think would be incredible on this basketball team um that is via trade um and I will say that there’s another point guard that’s a free agent that I think uh would would would do wonders here um and so my biggest fear is that they don’t hit on any one of those two um and I don’t know if that’s specific enough but go ahead go ahead go ahead i mean well again you know and I and I understand man that there are certain things that you can’t share and you you’ve shared literally so much with us man like I I truly do appreciate it you’ve you’ve been dropping bombs today i if there are names on that point guard side that that you can at least keep an eye out even if it’s not the ones you’re talking about but guys that you like specifically I think that be All right so uh I’ll tell you a guy that I got my eyes on uh big time right now during the offseason drew Holiday okay i mean that makes sense with what we were talking about before there you go so keep your eye on Drew Holiday drew Holiday is a guy that um I know is being is available um I know that Boston is again I’m hearing a lot of chatter about them and and his name keeps popping up so um Boston is a is a team to watch out and Drew Had is one of those guys that I think fits the attitude the alignment right that’s the word we keep hearing the alignment defensive alignment guys that are dogs guys that are going to put the the su success of the team ahead of their personal uh uh contributions or statistics or however you want to chop it up so a guy like Drew Holiday is a guy that I got my eye on um a guy that we all love and adore i’m going keep saying it chris Paul i love Chris Paul i think Chris Paul would be an absolute home run if he comes back to Phoenix why because you got a first year head coach in Jordan R so now you got a basically two coaches on the floor one one in one literally playing on the floor one who knows how to get the best version of Deon Booker um ever right best version of Deon Booker ever was when Chris Paul was running point for him um a guy that I think can help a guy like Jaylen Green uh see things differently and and improve on some things a guy that’s a dog that is going to demand perfection in every practice every film session every meeting when they get off the bus when they jump on the sprinter van on the road like this guy is that detailed and so Chris is a guy that I got my eye on right so um it’s not it’s not rock here’s my thing uh E this is what I want people to know these these moves aren’t blockbuster shifty NBA oh my god look what the Suns just did moves the Drew Holiday right now is in a situation where Boston is really contemplating you know is it worth keeping him with the contract and all stuff going on he could be had chris Paul’s a guy that’s a free agent and uh we know it’s his choice it is his choice if he wants to come back here so these are these are targets that the Suns are not only uh I I believe monitoring but are extremely realistic and it changes everything if I told you right now yeah I want your your opinion on this if I told you this morning if I called you this morning and said “Hey we’re about to trade for Jaylen Green Dylan Brooks the 10th overall pick and five second round picks oh and by the way wink wink Chris is coming back.” How would you feel i mean I’d feel better i don’t know if it would alleviate all of my worries about some potential fits but I I mean listen Chris Paul if if you want to create a culture that and that uh Brian Gregory been preaching that Matt Ishb has been preaching of accountability check you know that’s Chris Paul grittiness toughness analyzing the game giving it your all like no halfass anything right like Chris Paul checks those boxes i I’d feel better about it i don’t know if I would say that like all of my my worries and concerns but I mean I do feel after you know talking to you now for the last 30 and however much longer we’re going to talk tonight you know I’ll keep you here for five hours if you want we good baby let’s chop it up let’s roll i I’ll give you the I’ll give you the thumbs up when I’m starting to get a little tired when you start nodding off like you were in that video you know I don’t I don’t want to catch you sleeping on on air again brother uh but you know Benadril you know Ben Yeah Benadril i’m sorry brother go ahead it definitely it definitely makes me you know it makes me feel better and and all these like outcomes that you’ve laid out it definitely makes me feel better about this you know kind of back to to the trade because you know I I think that there’s a lot to un unpack here you know is this what you think could be the best deal for Kevin Rant like do you really feel like this was truly peak value like Brian Gregory did his best canvased the league and and got back in your mind what was the best collection of assets and I’m going try to give you the real right um no just don’t get yourself in trouble yeah no I’m not I’m going try not to get in trouble but um the answer is no okay i I do I do know that there was a there was one deal that I preferred um that didn’t get done but I’m also going to say without being disrespectful to the process that that wasn’t the son’s fault if if you can connect to God yeah okay so so there’s a deal that can get done that I think was slightly better than this one i wouldn’t say it was like astronomically better but slightly better um but the powers that be didn’t necessarily want to do that right you know you know what I’m you know where I’m going right so so yeah so when you when you do that you look I I actually do believe that when push come to shove and you add Jaylen Jaylen Green Dylan Brooks that the 10th pick is monumental in this i don’t think people talk enough about that and the 5 seconds i think they did pretty damn good man um I I think they wanted at least an a a short starter they wanted some draft capital and they wanted the ability to add an impactful draft player in the next couple days they got two starters they got the 10th pick who god knows could be a third starter like there’s some guys that right now are in this draft that if you told me Wednesday we got that guy uh yeah could probably start for the Phoenix Suns next year as Yeah let’s uh we got a couple super we got a couple super chats here i love talking draft with you man i was talking man last year you and I were were chopping about Ryan Dunn Kel Wear like you know some of these guys that have stood out in this rookie class uh you were even pretty high were you high on Zachary Reese i I forget if you were high on Reese or No Reese Shay was a guy that I was a little bit loopy okay okay he can’t play over 20 minutes a game but I like him okay um I like him though i like him says Flex aka Landry Sham i bet you haven’t heard that in a while uh I don’t believe it who you want the Suns to draft at 10 and then Terrence Tidbits says “Do y’all think Derek Queen is in play to pick at 10 or do the Suns avoid going with another Turpps big man after being burned by Alex Len and Jaylen Smith?” Where does uh where does like the 10 pick rank for you as far as value in this draft like do you feel like this draft is 10 really good players deep i’mma I’mma I’mma blow your mind you know I love this you know this is my thing right i’mma tell you first of all Dylan Harper right so we’re going to go one two Flag Harper right uh Dylan Harper went to Dabbasco High School in in New Jersey what a surprise what a surprise right a school that my son was going to go to um I know the Don Bosow people very well okay um so I I’ve known and been around Dylan his whole life okay dylan Harp is a dog winter Ruckers another uh close spot of mine right i just I got to give my Jersey guys love so it’s one and two coup and Dylan and then I’m going be honest with you man and people may think I’m crazy i I can make an argument that three through 35 split hairs man i’ve seen a lot of jumping up and down like when when you look at box drafts you look at the tape like there are some guys that are going 15 that that are also going in the second round so I don’t think it’s that crazy i I think three is a little surprising obviously the Ace Bailey stuff I feel like you and I could do an hour on the Ace Bailey stuff but so for so for 10 okay so that means there could be a lot of mixups and we saw like don’t connect last year drop late kl wear drop a little later than you expect so give give me your five give me five guys that if they fall to 10 or or if they’re there at 10 that that flex from Jersey with all of his back pain is running to the podium and and reading the names off five guys that they drop to 10 no like if like if you’re at 10 like realistically if you’re at 10 five guys that you think that could be there that you would be enamored with that you would love oh man oh man okay i I’ll tell you why this is a difficult exercise for me right now and you know I love my draft right um I I’m gonna say this first of all somebody mentioned Derek Queen and um I’m I’m fascinated with Derek Queen though i I really In a good way i’m I’m fascinated with Queen um I’m fascinated with my man uh B uh Arizona kid uh Carter Bryant carter Carter Bryant um I I think he’s very intriguing but I I’m going to be honest here’s I’m I’m going to tell you who I love please okay i’m going tell you who I love um and these are some names i don’t know if people are talking about them or not personally I think if I’m the Suns I’m trading back that’s another option i’m taking 10 say who wants 10 you want to give me a a You want me to move back five six slots no problem give me another first maybe some more seconds or whatever it is right or or a play however you figure it out but I would drop that um I the kid from Duke’s intriguing um I have a lot that I’m glad you said it because I always butcher his name um he he’s intriguing that’s So you got uh Bri you got Carter Bryant you got the Duke Kid Mlock um you got uh Derek Queen all all very intriguing to me but I’mma tell you something man i love Danny Wolf you were tweeting about him man so let me do a deep dive on it can I do a deep dive on that okay can I ask I’ll ask you a question to kick off a deep dive okay i am higher on Danny Wolf than some people I’ve talked to i wouldn’t say he’s somebody I’m in love with now one of the big concerns that we’ve heard about Danny Wolf Wolf is the athleticism there okay when when you watch Danny Wolf do you see a starting caliber NBA power forward and center and maybe somebody that that on defense is quick enough to hang on switches in modern NBA styles especially stuff that Jordan not might be putting out there yes first of all I see I think Danny Wolf is absolutely a starting NBA center okay um power forward it I I I like him at center i’ll say that okay um I do think his athleticism is not He’s He’s got some down to him man he He’s got some sneaky athleticism so I’m not too worried there uh is he you know all world defense no he’s not but I mean is Joker all world and I’m not comparing the two but I’m just saying we we get away with that you heard it here first folks you heard it here first new Y Carl Towns is not a off a defensive juggernaut neither is Joker uh we we could go on and on about the defensive stuff right do I think he’s an absolute liability unplayable guy no i I think he’s better than that i think he’s better in rotation um than he is you know manto man but here’s the thing about Danny Wolf okay um first of all he’s a legit seven seven foot okay he can shoot the rock he’s got incredible vision um and his ball handling at the at the at the big spot as a sevenfooter is one of deep I’m I You know what hold on i’m I’m getting excited i’m getting excited e I got a hold of myself you remember last year we were talking about Ryan Dunn and I told you you know what Eman I’ve been evaluating draft for 15 years ryan Dunn might be one of the best defensive guys I’ve ever evaluated okay you remember that yep okay danny Wolf might be the best ball handling big I’ve evaluated in 15 years okay and and I want to and listen there are going to be some people who are shaking their head at that and and there are people in the chat who are saying “Please know to Danny Wolf.” I want other people to know that when Flex and I were talking about Ryan Dunn i was legitimately asking him I’m like “Look Flex,” I’m like “This this kid has not shown a jump shot in college.” Like the the offense is a really big question i’m like do you think that this kid can develop into somebody who’s who’s at least decent on offense and you told me straight to my face i remember word for word you said there is not a damn thing wrong with his jump shot you’re like mechanically speaking the way that he shoots it you’re like there’s nothing to fix right so so you were like I would take a swing on him because I think he can hold up offensively now was Dun a sharp shooter no but what we saw at the beginning of the season and and if and if Mike Benhoer didn’t mess [ __ ] up and and and pull him out of the rotation then you know he he probably would have been a little bit more consistent but you can definitely see the building blocks there right like he’s not somebody like an Andre Roberson which which people were comparing to so I I’m not saying that I’ve personally seen that out of Danny Wolf but I will say that based off of conversations I had with you last year which is the first time you and I were talking about the draft and then to see how that season played out for all of those players to to now like these are things that I promise you Flex is not just speaking out of his ass he’s not just saying things to be positive like I promise you he’s watching and he’s saying he’s saying what he sees and he fully believes now does it always translate to the NBA no but like I I put weight into what you say about this stuff thank you brother i mean I I’m telling you man i I’ve I’ve done a super deep dive on this guy i’m gonna give you some background too because I love giving you background because you know you know you know how I operate in the space right um so I’m telling you Danny Wolf’s ability to handle the basketball at 611 and two quarters without shoes um is some of the best I’ve ever seen and I’m telling you guys it’s not exaggeration this guy can handle like a guard and it’s pure and it’s it’s it’s it’s God-given okay so you know let’s give some let’s give some context okay uh he played at Michigan most people in the chat I’m not sure if you know but the head coach at Michigan is a guy named Rusty May okay um Rusty May before he went to Michigan was the head coach at one Florida Atlantic University okay who had a Final Four run now Eric you know this i do yes very good friend of kid that I absolutely love consider family nicholas Boy was a starting point guard on FAU okay so the the relationships and the connections to Rusty May and those people are in that circle uh run deep okay as far as my personal evaluation and communication um Rusty May went to Michigan immediately said “I’m going to get the kids in jail and you’re going to run point guards for me and you’re going to run the offense through they’re going to run it through him.” Okay um the kids ability to play the point center handle the ball and his footwork being incredible something you can’t change his basketball IQ being a yell guy his jump shot I I see nothing wrong with it his his left hand goes in front a little bit on his jump shot but I’m not too worried about it um his ability to rebound he’s a double double machine this is a guy that I had a draft evaluer tell me he is the most talked about intriguing person in this draft in regards to the the the evaluation the scouts and the people that know what they’re talking about they are fascinated with this guy um I love him i did my homework i made the phone calls he’s a winner he’s a dog he can shoot i’m telling y’all if we walk out of this draft in some way shape or form I don’t know how you do it you You got 10 you got 29 you got 59 you move around a little bit you walk out of this draft with another player and Danny Wolf and the Suns absolute home run man this is a guy this is This is my guy in this draft i’m telling you this is my guy that’s a stamp this is my guy in the draft if I’m wrong man please take me to the you know what with it but this is my guy this is a guy that I think is is is going to fit the system the alignment another thing I want to be uh uh uh straight is Deon Booker’s game and knowing how Deon Booker uh the the the type of things you need around Deon Booker to get the best version there i’ve always believed that the five position you absolutely need a five center that can absolutely shoot the ball with confidence and we haven’t had that lately okay when you Deon Booker had that i mean Aiden shot the mini but it’s Aaron Baines aaron Baines and maybe Dario Sarich on a good day right like other than that it’s it’s rim runners and and guys that can stretch out to the midi besides you know DeAndre Aton i mean Ysef wasn’t hitting threes i’ll tell you what I like Nick Richard’s mini game he developed that at the end of the season that’s that’s some sicko stuff that I was looking at but he ain’t a three-point shooter oso of course isn’t a three-point shooter uh Book Book has not played with a three-point shooting big on volume besides Aaron Baines and maybe Franki frank Kamiski okay Frank frank frank frank frank is like a a four five to me right i’m talking like like true like to take time put it in context i but I really think this guy gives me he gives me I name three players he reminds me of he gives me Shangon vibes he gives me Sabonis vibes okay and man you going to it i’m not going to say it but there are there are plays and there are certain situations where I look at him and I’m like well I can tell that he studies that guy okay I can absolutely see studies that guy and then uh last thing I’ll say on that is you know he was interviewed at the combine you guys can look it up go look at uh Danny Wolf’s Combine interview somebody asked him what NBA players he looks at he didn’t say Shangon okay but he said he only watches European players and he studies uh Joker Sabonis and uh I I just No not putting another Euro guy uh Euro center luca no Luca oh okay yeah Luca yeah yeah not another center but yeah he he said he he he studies European guys um and you can see it in his game man when I do deep dive on a tape bro you can see the influence of those players um and so I I’m enamored with a guy like that you want a late take you want a guy I love later in the draft dude I I do okay let’s let’s let’s save that for a I got a game I want to play with you okay let’s go let’s take Are you Are Okay first of all I want you to be real real here yeah yeah yeah would you take Danny Wolf at 10 yes okay okay malawok at 10 or Wolf at 10 man oh god those are two different types of centers that the Suns two different type of centers um I’m going to say I’m going to say if you got Malawak at 10 yeah you probably you probably got if he goes to 10 he’s sliding that’s what I mean so I I don’t expect him to be there so if he’s there if it’s him and Danny Wolf uh I’m gonna go Malaw but I don’t think he’s gonna be there so I absolutely will uh take Danny uh Danny Wolf and Danny I don’t know if I could take Danny Wolf at 10 man i mean you’re you’re talking me into him i don’t know if I could if I I if I think that you can trade back if you can trade back to like 14 15 16 17 uh then then I then I’d want to go with uh I’d want to go with maybe Wolf then i I don’t I don’t know if I could if Carter Bryant’s there at 10 and and Wol is there i I think I still might take Carter Bryant but uh you know it time time will tell for sure time time will tell for sure uh we got a lot of wolf talk but let’s let’s talk 29 okay because listen the Suns still have 29 they still have 29 they still have 52 and now they have 59 so they could get 29 they can package 29 and 59 and move up to 25 right so they could really have any picks from from 20 to 59 right they could be anywhere in there give give me a couple names of of guys at the end of the first round early second round that are that are flex from jersey winners in this draft oh man okay f first guy I love my man Theo theo you’re speaking the chat’s language yeah okay theo is my guy the another guy that when I look at the tape I’m fascinated let’s let’s go to the details at Arkansas a guy that is a Kentucky guy that went to Arkansas with Cal um this guy when I watch him immediately and I’ve been following these guys for a while so this isn’t like I’m just picking names you know how I roll i’m not just picking names and watching film we watch basketball and thoroughly but then when you get this time of season you get to do that deeper dive that you can’t when the NBA season’s going on and all that other stuff man theo theo screams OG an Obi to me young OG anobi when I look at Theoro that’s what I see i see a young OG Anobi i see a guy that is an athletic freak i see another guy i’m going to pound on this i’m going to pound on this i like guys that can handle the rock especially in this new NBA so I like guys that I can give them the ball and they can put two three four dribble combos together and get to a spot okay and I like him even more when you give them the ability to put one two three dribble combos together and they can absolutely body you theo is that type of guy i think he brings defensive toughness i think Theo falls into the same category of optimism that I had for Ryan very very similar optimism and I’m saying if you can do Ryan Dunn times two and you can get two Ryan if you can get a Ryan Dun every year you’re going to be in good shape let’s shoot for another Ryan Dunn heroes is a guy I like um I’ll tell you another thing um the kid from Marquette the guard from Marquette 65 Cam Jones cam Jones sorry yeah yeah cam Cam Jones uh 65 65208 i’m going off the top here i got all these numbers i could be wrong i believe it’s 65210 roughly or 64210 uh from Marquette uh he’s a guy that I’m intrigued with um I’ll tell you a guy that jumps out he jumps out at and this is a guy that we’ve liked a lot in Phoenix who’s heard his name pop up many times but a guy like Chris Dunn okay a lot of people have liked Chris Dunn’s ability to play defense and and do some dynamic things defensively i’m looking at the defensive side of the ball and I’m looking at uh Cam and I’m saying you know what he played at Marquette uh I respect three programs incredibly to to the max in college basketball if you’re a Kentucky guard I respect you that may change now because Kyle’s gone but initially if you’re a Kentucky guard I love you if you’re anybody from Villanova I love you jay Wright is my all-time favorite coach ever and I’m telling you uh Marquette when they produce pros they’re pretty damn good because they teach a way of playing basketball out there that’s unique um Oso GDAR wasn’t that bad right um so so I trust that program and so I look at you know if you wanna if you want to take a shot later on in the draft or you do something uh and and a guy like Cam Jones who you want to play some defense off the bench and hound people and be an alignment type guy a guy that’s gonna play balls to the wall every night guy like um so this Can I ask you a question hey can I pull you and can I ask you a question so Tim from Phoenix Tim from Phoenix with a 499 super chat says “Malawakok Clifford or Cedric Coward at 10?” And I don’t think we have enough time to get through Clifford and Coward because I I’m fascinated with their games then he says Walter Clayton at 29 i was about to say his name who’s this guy tim from Phoenix tim’s always here tim from Phoenix man you you couldn’t have done this i was literally about to go next to my boy Clay another another guy I’m fascinated with um can shoot the rock comes from a good program we saw him rise in the tournament got good size um the only thing about Clint that I’ll say is if you take him uh you you’re gonna get back into the drama of you got Book you got Jay Green you got Bill where is he playing right so I know that’s going to happen so I don’t want to get exhausted with that but uh yeah I I love him florida kid you shoot the Rock good size um I did some deep dives on him i think he’s an intriguing player that late in the draft i think he’s an NBA rotation guy um so yeah Jo Cam Jones Clayton J i mean there’s some guys brother uh e there’s some guys man um I will say this though can I give you a uh some a little bit of context on why I’m I’m a little bit hesitant right now to to go into a deeper dive about players um one the Suns just got the 10th pick this morning right um so so now the this the conversations I’ve been having are shifting a little bit um and so if I’m being if I’m being truly transparent uh I I I think I think there’s a chance the Suns are going to move back that’s just my opinion so that’s why some of these guys in the top 10 that people want to talk about I’m giving you an alter alternate uh scenario um if they’re at 10 and they’re talking and Malawak and Brian and some of them got Carter Bryant you know you got you got to make that those are really good players that I don’t think are going to be there at 10 um but I I think there’s a scenario where the Suns could move back and you can have potentially uh more middle of the first round pick and then 29 and maybe some other stuff to fly right so I’m looking at guys in that range uh for the most part and I want people to know those guys but if you want right before the draft we can get we can do a hell of a deep dive on all the scenario i think the people would love that man i I would love that let’s do it i mean listen man you know us you were do you were main part of the show last year you know we’ll be live during the draft so if you want to jump on during the draft too man like you know we’ll we’ll be live during it so we we you and I we’ll iron it out behind the scenes you’re a busy guy you’re over on the East Coast but but we’ll iron it out you’re you’re giving great insight here uh would you draft Clayton at 29 or Nemhardt at 52 oh draft a guard to draft a guard that’s just so passing I I mean I if you can get him at 52 as well I I I think the value there is is great% um okay uh let’s let’s let’s put a pin in the draft stuff um individual so we’re talking about just what Kevin Durant did on the court not the not the wins and losses correct okay yeah i mean on on the basketball court man this guy’s still an all NBA talent so if I had to grade it uh ah man a a minus okay a a minus i mean do you do you account do you count wins here’s the thing do you put the wins and losses in there at all like like is it an A+ without the the team like I know we’re talking individually there but like it’s an A+ if this team was decent and an A minus because they weren’t that’s it that’s that’s basically he’s got he’s Kevin Durant and you know the efficiency um the ability to do the things he does uh it’s an A minus on an individual basis and yeah if the Suns had some playoff wins and some you know a couple shots to potentially make the Western Conference Finals or even deeper it’s a clear A+ that’s that’s on an individual basis but now can I throw I mean if if I got to grade Kevin Durant on the entire experience um yeah man yeah i mean incomplete yeah no no no i I’m keeping it 100 man this isn’t personal but if I had to grade the entire Kevin Durant experience and how it came out uh C++ like I think that’s generous i think that’s extremely generous you know being very generous yeah that’s this there you go that’s Optimus Flex right there this I love it look at that yo and he got the shades i forgot had shades the we going to be all right on the blade yeah look at the details dog i love it you got to send Make sure you send me that i need that i’ll text I’ll text that to you after the show yeah I’m I’m being grade the return the Suns got for Kevin Durant um B minus okay b minus b i’m Listen I like it man i like it i’m I’m giving it a B minus um and I’m I’m I want to say I would like to have the opportunity to adjust that so a B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B M B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B B minus with the potential to increase to an A minus if some of the things that I think they’re talking about doing come to fruition because if that happens this is going to make a [ __ ] ton more sense i’m sorry i don’t I don’t want to you’re good but um it’s going to make a lot more sense um but I can’t you you can never take this to the bank and you can never guarantee anything in basketball in this world so at the very least if some of those things don’t come to fruition I still think it’s a B minus because you got the best scoreer and the best defender on the second best team in the West not to mention the top 10 pick in the draft and five second round picks i I just can’t I can’t I can’t go lower than a B minus on on what they did i think they did as good as they can do considering the circumstances okay uh there are a lot of people in the chat who have a couple questions for you we we’ve covered a lot of them just you and I talking here have you heard anything about the Suns and their future regarding two players two young guys Bull and and Colin Gillespie love them both i think the Suns love them both yeah no I I there’s Okay they love Colin suns love Colin okay so uh I do think Colin has a a future here with the Phoenix Suns and I think um this is a guy that I think is going to play into some of the stuff I’m talking about that will make some more sense down the road but I think Colin is a guy that they really love and I know that there’s a lot of internal support for Bo um from people that matter okay so um I I do think Colin and Bo have a very good chance of coming back and being parts of the the new wave of the Phoenix Suns yes yeah hopefully if they are here that they can actually play that that’s kind of for me is if you’re gonna use a roster spot on them play the players that that you got that have potential especially especially now in this season where it’s like there’s there’s just there’s really no expectations on this team until they start winning again and even then f fans aren’t going to buy in until they they really see it over a sustained period of time um okay do you have anything that you want to get off your chest about the last year of Suns basketball do you have anything that you want to share with people that we haven’t gotten here today it is super late over where you are right now you’ve been super generous time man it’s like adrenaline talking ball with you though like it’s it’s just like riding a bike right like uh like those 2 AM conversations after Suns post games two seasons ago is is there is there anything was it was time to take a swing considering what had happened with Dallas and the finals and stuff and so they did that um I’d be lying to you if I told you I didn’t think the Brad deal for Chris Paul and Landry Sham wasn’t a good deal right that’s that’s just fallacy if I tell you that that wasn’t a good deal I’d be lying to you if I told you you know I thought the Tus Jones situation was going to play out the way it played out like there’s a multitude of things that happened that just don’t make sense but the blame game I think is a little bit out of control um I I just I’m like man I I think some of these decisions were decisions that a lot of people were excited and and backed and it just didn’t work out and that’s okay man like it’s it’s okay to just be like “Man that didn’t work.” You know what I mean so um I I I hate that it played out the way it played out i hate that we’re having this conversation on and ending the KB era the way we are um but I will say this after looking at the last year of basketball that was the most miserable year I’ve ever had watching the champions tell me about it brother imagine talking about it after every game bro i Bro I know bro you know I I was I was stealing from y’all i’m like man God bless these guys no man uh there’s there’s no better job in the world man bless you to do what we do even even if the Suns suck man even if the struggles Right right but but I know how how much how hard you guys work to to put up a good product and know what you’re talking about on a day-to-day basis and and do this every night and with that product man shout out to y’all man that was pretty hard but um so yeah it was it was the worst year basketball I’ve ever experienced as a Suns fan and I am very optimistic i am very confident bro that this team there you go optim optimist i’m very confident brother that the team that gets on the court this year with Jordan and and and some of the stuff that that they’re doing and building and and what can come is going to be a breath of fresh air man they they may not I’m not telling you how much they’re going to win we don’t know that you can’t talk about wins and losses even but I’m telling you I can already tell you um I I get the impression that you’re going to like and you’re going to enjoy watching this team play every night when it leaves and that’s all you can ask for man so that’s exciting i I mean I I really hope so man because if there’s one thing I love talking about it’s it’s good basketball right i’ll talk about bad basketball but I I’d much rather talk about about good basketball man listen dude uh there’s there’s I don’t know if you can see the chat right now and and maybe you can’t because of how you’re holding your phone there’s so much love for you in the chat man i know that there are haters out there and sometimes the the hate is louder than the love but but my guy it has been an absolute welcome return we even got our boy you know our guy in GMPO Espo in he comes in clearly with another $2 super chat says Flex basically said Jaylen Green got that cake fire emoji kissy face emoji yo yo I can’t believe we’re still Yo this is that’s comedy man be be calm what is it be calm see clearly be man the first time I heard the first time I was losing my mind we used some we it was it was just comedy i can’t believe we still doing this dude be call one of the most consistent super chatters that that we that we still we still have okay Flex my guy listen I don’t want to cut it off but we got to save some for the next time you link up right we got to save some draft talk we got to do all that if you know you’re on the I know you’re out uh traveling right now i know you’re still in Phoenix people are wondering if you moved back to the East Coast i you know that’s not the case not going anywhere just in the East Coast on business that’s it yeah so I and I know this is a busy week i’m not going to promise the people we’ll have you back this week
