🚨 Kevin Durant TRADED TO THE ROCKETS 🚨 What does it mean for Houston and the Suns? | NBA on ESPN

the first blockbuster trade of the NBA offseason is in the books as Kevin Durant is going from the Phoenix Suns to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jaylen Green Dylan Brooks the 10th pick in this year’s NBA draft and five second round picks for the Houston Rockets the goal here was very simple upgrade an offense that was not good enough to get the second seated Rockets out of the first round of the playoffs by adding still one of the best scorers in the league in Durant who despite being in his age 37 season put up prolific offensive numbers will immediately step in as the best scorer on this Rockets team and gives Houston a chance to potentially upgrade itself in its chase to try to catch up to the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves and the other teams at top the Western Conference standings now on the other side of this trade for the Phoenix Suns this is the first step in what they hope is going to be a multi-step retooling of the roster this off season clearly the Suns did not get where they hoped to go over the past couple years after trading all of their draft picks and Mikuel Bridges and Cam Johnson to the Brooklyn Nets for Durant in February of 2023 this team did not even make the playin tournament this year with Durant they decided they needed to go another direction to try to refresh the roster around Devin Booker now with Jaylen Green with Dylan Brooks with this first round pick in this year’s draft a lottery pick and what is a deep draft this year the Suns are going to be very active this week trying to improve the roster trying to give themselves a chance to get back in the playoff mix but obviously the headline here is Kevin Durant after weeks of speculation finding a new home with the Houston Rockets [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

Tim Bontemps breaks down what the Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns are gaining from the Kevin Durant trade.

  1. KD take notes. That’s how real men win a championship. Not by joining a championship team. KD OKC didn’t need you in the long run!

  2. okc just won the chip by BUILDING
warriors just won by building. atleast not trade your best assests for an old man. lol phoenix will be on the playoffs and rockets will not gonna make it.

  3. I knew when Kevin went to the Phoenix Suns that he wasn’t going to do anywhere really to the playoff I mean the Phoenix Suns they don’t have any good players besides maybe one maybe they’ll be lucky and get a draft pick that will do something, but I wouldn’t hold your breath of them winning any kind of playoff games in the near future but they’re just like the Arizona Cardinals ever since Kirk Warner took him to the Super Bowl. They haven’t been there since they believe in Kyler Murray, who hasn’t really proved that he can be a good quarterback, but at least they didn’t pick Aaron Rodgers like the Pittsburgh Steelers. Did I see two teams that are going to be in the basement this year and then remember Arizona couldn’t keep their hockey team. They were going to be able to new stadium and then all of a sudden they had a share stadium with ASU. Are you kidding me and you expect a hockey team to stay in Arizona and you don’t have a stadium for them. I don’t feel sorry for them leaving

  4. Houston is stupid.. Kevin Durant who's been in the NBA since 2007 is will be 37 years old and you have to pay him. You trade a young talent for a LeBron era player?

  5. ANY team that trades for aging superstars is making a mistake. The real value in terms of winning a championship of these old stars is minimal, the only thing they help with is ticket sales

NIKOLA VUCEVIC (CENTER) FROM CHICAGO BULLS TO MILWAUKEE BUCKS

DeAndre JORDAN (CENTER) FROM DENVER NUGGETS TO BROOKLYN NETS

IVICA ZUBAC (CENTER) From LA Clippers to New York Knicks if Giannis Antetokounmpo will NOT be acquired by the New York Knicks.

GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO (FORWARD/CENTER) FROM MILWAUKEE BUCKS TO NEW YORK KNICKS OR LOS ANGELES LAKERS OR MIAMI HEAT.

The trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee Bucks to Miami Heat is still possible but has restrictions due to Salary Cap. If the deal for Miami Heat will not push thru, Giannis Antetokounmpo might move to another team. Another issue: Since Kel’el Ware, a young 7’-0” rookie Center is already dominating in the Miami Heat big man position, a deal for acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee Bucks to Miami Heat might NOT push through.

Therefore, Giannis Antetokounmpo might be traded to New York Knicks instead as additional firepower for the Power Forward Position. In this case, Karl-Anthony Towns must play the Center Position.

Another option is Giannis Antetokounmpo might be traded to Los Angeles Lakers to play as the Power Forward Position. In this case, Power Forward Rui Hachimura might be traded somewhere else since he will be replaced by Giannis Antetokounmpo.

On the other hand, Victor Wembanyama must be acquired by the LA Lakers so he can play the center position and Lebron James will play as the number 3 position/Point Forward. If a deal will push thru for Giannis Antetokounmpo to be at LA Lakers, I suggest that Rui Hachimura will be traded to Miami Heat to play the Power Forward position to partner with Miami Heat Center Kel’el Ware.

If in case, there is a Salary Cap Issue in Los Angeles Lakers, they will be limited to options.

The LA Lakers will do the option of acquiring just 1 big man and that is either Victor Wembanyama or Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Case 1: If LA Lakers will acquire Victor Wembanyama, the LA Lakers might not push to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo due to Salary Cap Issue. Giannis Antetokounmpo might find some other NBA team to settle down. He might go to New York Knicks or any other team or he can still stay at Milwaukee Bucks.

Case 2: If LA Lakers will acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo, The LA Lakers might not push to acquire Victor Wembanyama again due to Salary Cap issue. Victor Wembanyama might find another NBA team if he wants to be traded. He also has the option to go back in France or in Europe to play for any French Team or any Euroleague Team.
