  1. needs more “y”s and “r”s in the name for me to take it seriously

  2. God I hope not, Marner is a talented player but there’s only like 3 guys in the entire league that deserve that kind of money.

  3. To be honest I’m a lurking Canucks fan with a soft spot for the Jackets so I don’t pay as much attention as a lot of you guys. Is it crazy that I would like this deal for Columbus? Definitely an overpay based on the post season performance we’ve seen from Marner, but he’s a fantastic regular season player and the change of scenery/decrease in pressure from the fans could be what he needs to turn it around in the playoffs. It’s a bit of a gamble but Columbus hasn’t made the playoffs since the bubble and they have a lot of cap space right now. Curious what more tuned in fans think

  4. If we pay $14.5M to Marner (and we absolutely won’t) I’m giving up on this team.

  5. Honestly wouldn’t mind this, Marner is an insanely talented player who would make this team instantly better

  6. That’s what the deal is going to look like just not sold it’s us. At this point might as well trade a pick to Toronto and get him an 8th year to drop that AAV if it’s actually serious. Everything has been reported to going out west and the ducks are cleaning out their roster. This week is going to be extremely interesting and don’t take every account out there was truth most are just trying to engagement farm.

  7. I’d offer him 14×4 or 12×7

14×7 is the highest risk for a player that may not do much more than get the Jackets over the playoffs bubble

  8. I heard it was 8 years and eleventy-jillion, and Marner’s eyes launched out of his head, held back only by his optic nerves, while he made old-timey ahh-ooo-gah noises, before recovering and simply saying “yes”.

  9. No idea how real, but I’d make that offer happily. I think he’s more interested in a short term deal, though.

  10. I personally love the idea of paying up for Marner. I think we need a dynamic gamebreaking winger, similar to Panarin before he left. I’d be glad to pay for Marner.

We may need to intentionally build a vicious team around a few of our players, such as KJ, or Marner if we get him. Im unopposed to paying up for players who are a little more rough to overcompensate for them.
