but uh same results this line continues to get great chances uh consistently throughout the game have to tag up and give chase 2 minutes 45 seconds gone by here in the opening period the checkers get a turnover left wing side they score john Leonard gets the roof blown off the biscuit [Applause] again great sustained pressure by the Checkers that’s this line second shift we talked about how important it was getting everybody in the game this line’s got a feel for it now and make no mistake you can’t give Leon the puck there just in the top of the left circle right near the dot and John Leonard makes Archer Sheil’s pay and the Checkers strike first we talked about how important an early strike would be and the Checkers get the games first benning will play it off a shin pad and out pully now on the right side looking for someone to pass through drops it for Smith back door pass wide open look and stopping it as she loves as Paul’s wide open went between his legs but squeaked through the crease and out the other side great chance draw pass back to the blue line the checkers get it twoon-one here they come maybe threeon-one if they hurry divine has Oulard divine to Powell back to Divine he scores jack Divine gives the checkers a two nothing lead here in the first [Applause] we talk transition and track that that balance of of of going too far in and uh Abbottzburg got caught threeon-one for Charlotte tic-tac-toe and Devine to Powell back to Deine and in the net nothing Sheils could do there great patience by the youngster to not try and force that too early to find Powell get it back and then pick his spot he had the defenseman all turned around mancini and a twogoal lead is huge in this one there with Sassin and Baines and Baines works it to Bl who chips it back to the point nice job by the Conucks and now they set up blé left circle takes a shot scores sammy Blade top shelf and the Conucks are on the board what a shot club side and that is exactly what the Conucks were looking for a late goal here in the first and Blaze got his seventh point of these Calder Cup finals and his fifth power play to put him back tied with Carlson for the league lead of power play goals of the playoffs they battle it out of the left corner get it back up to the point milan starts to walk to the middle feeds it back to Sammy Bl who’s walked himself up the flank gets his feet pointing down and just rips one far side high glove on Cockin 2-1 power play goal 222 left in the first neielson stays on it down low plays it in front for Waters wide open chance he can’t jam it in puck is loose clement shot it stays out and they score a scramble in front and this game is tied at two all sorts of Canucks were whacking away it looks like it’ll go to Cleovic cleovic gets the goal but it’s Waters that just shows incredible patience in front of the net the puck gets ends up squirting out from behind waters who’s sitting on the left side of the net on his forehand fakes the shot five hole pushes on his edges extends around Cockin and it somehow stays out but Kovichic able to bury in the rebound 22 1616 left in the second Kovich with the last Jet Woo gives him a shove going to be taken to the boards great play by Woo and Breathluff finds a puck but he can’t clear Powell keeps it in they’ll Try the other side here’s Carrick walking in with room his shot stopped by Sheilovs rebound comes back to Carrick good chance there he feeds a point now for Powell left side feed for Leonard okoular screening leonard to Powell wrist shot stopped by Sheil no rebound he’ll get the face off with 48 seconds left to kill and Waters penalty and Okuly hearing about it after the fact from a couple Canucks she loves comes up with the save and he can see it all the way as Pal takes the quick kind of wrist shot one-time with Aoular in front but Auara lets himself drift just a little bit more to the middle of the ice on the top of the crease she loves right at the top of his blue able to make the save and hang on the right wing in the Abbottzford zone plays it to a wide open Kirstston in the slot his shot stopped by Sheila’s puck loose and the goalender’s got it with his glove of no red sweaters could pounce off on it nice setup Lockwood to Kirstston and he can’t believe it what a stop lockwood going down the right wall soon as he hits about the hash marks he spots Kerstead standing right between the tops of the circles all by himself gives a great feed through she loves comes out so aggressive he’s on the left side feeds a point woo wrist shot blocked puck was in front and Baines couldn’t settle it but he gets it back in the corner back door pass carlson scores what a shift baines assassin Carlson give Abbottzford a 3-2 lead unbelievable 241 to go you could say second effort but that’s not even close to what that was that was third fourth fifth and sixth efforts all over the offensive zone that trio does not give up on it at all the play starts with Woo at the point takes the shot cochan makes the save baines gets completely tied up on the side of the net not able to put the rebound in the empty net but he’s got eyes in the back of his head gets it on his forehand spins around and rips it across so he can put it in the empty net 32 Abbottzford 230 swings a pass back to the point splits the Dman will come out to center that’ll do it on the penalty sort of up across the blue line he gets shoulder down completes his pass skoo out in front saved by Sheila’s point blank range rebound chance to Vine can’t get the shot off in time and that will take us to our Tarheel linen service intermission report little bit of pushing and shoving here at the end of that exciting second period well what a fantastic save again by Sheilops that’s a game changer uh little bit of a play out of nothing and again great job by Scoo getting to the net what an incredible save now the fans are certainly letting the stripes know about it here and you I don’t think it was too bad there in that second period there was a couple of holds and I think that really allowed Abbottzford to keep the puck in the offensive end which I would have liked to have seen called that ultimately led to that goal but this is where we sit it is 3-2 Abbottzford thanks to two goals in that second period they’ve got the edge and it looks like a couple of penalties are going to be assessed after the fact as left wing side it’ll be played over to the right here’s Leonard pause this one down knocked off of his stick twoon one going the other way for Abbottzford here’s Sassin left wing side his shot Pat stop Cochin and rebound he got that one too great saves there by Cochan and good speed on Sassin but Kapp up to the task there with two big ones to start the period aspen picked his pocket and sets it up leonard back door pass and it’s poked away by Herros and it goes over the glass oh Carrick was wide open what a heads up play by Herros unbelievable by Herros as the play moves up the right boards goes Dto D leonard fires it fakes the slapper fires it through the seam to a Carrick who’s standing back door on his one-time side but Herrosi able to get his stick on it and tip it out of play face off to the glove side 111 left in the power play 1509 left in the third checkers with the offensive zone draw would love nothing more to pull this crowd right out of their seats with the games equalizer they’ve got the puck center point leonard with a quick wister blocked away by the net miner sheilops checkers get it down low backhand chance and Sheilobs cradles that one in the glove yeah need need a lot more of that here the last few minutes of this uh period but poison and now Baines gave it away in the slot leonard shoots and he just missed the blocker side oh my what a chance and Sassin clears it out baines skates onto it down the right wing cutting it on goal baines shoots and it got stopped by Cocket as he fanned on it what a chance from Baines as he made up for that turnover puck rolling again on everybody five minutes to go in the third put those seat belts on folks find CJ Smith he’ll leave it for Sort of back to Smith on the left wing he the Checkers here’s Benning at the point to the right side for Leonard 250 to go in the third period leonard banks it behind the net for CJ Smith smith finds Chris Colo carlson broke a stick kratzv trying to play it out carlson going for a new queue kratzv can’t get it checkers have it behind the net cj Smith to the point for Benning he’s wide open traffic in front kirststead back to Benning on the right side te’s up a shot stopped by Sheilovs puck is there and it’s covered by Sheil with 230 to go all sorts of wrestling after the fact kratz involved got to be careful as he threw the helmet off of Chris Colo sometimes you can get a roughing call for knocking the opponent’s helmet off all sorts of carnage there cadratz have had a pretty good idea that he was going to be able to do really whatever he wanted the face off all 8,000 people standing up for the end of this one sticks are down sassin wins it mancini around his net chips it towards Carlson he stops it tries to win the battle and he does get it to center and sort of got a piece of it so there’s no icing last chance here for the checkers folks 33 seconds to go the Canucks change jet Woo picks it up in his corner ties it up trying to kill some clock 25 seconds to go dj Sppy’s there he’s trying to eat it as well the checkers fee working for it 20 seconds to go nothing’s happening just yet dji falls waters now along the wing trying to tie it up 13 seconds left checkers fishing for it still waters trying to get it out dj Deeppi gets it at center and the Checkers go offside with 6 seconds left the countdown is on folks but let’s just hold the phones let’s hold the phones here Lando 6 seconds left faceoff just outside the Conucks blue line one last drop of the puck perhaps checkers win it here’s Paryvey left wing 3 seconds left for a shot misses the net hey Kucks Nation are you ready for this history has been made for the first time in franchise history the Abbisford Canucks are Calder Cup champions let’s get out of here with the Calder Cup they pour out the bench the celebration is on they’ve done it Abbottzford they’ve done it the Canucks beat the Checkers in six games what a team what a season jubilation on the ice unbelievable there’s no better feeling than winning a championship with guys that you’ve been battling with all year long it’s you put so much work you know I said it starts in the summer it’s all the training all the days where all your friends are out they’re whether they’re on a boat on the water they’re on the golf course they’re messing around together but you’re the one you’re committed you’re in the in the wait room you’re in the on the ice in the middle of July and August when it’s so hot out you just want to go have a bit of time with your buddies but you know you got work to do well it’s all rewarded now as the handshake line starts and nothing but respect from both teams here again this was an unbelievable series both teams playing great they gave all us broadcasters all the fans unbelievable hockey to watch all the way to June tw what are we at june 23rd i have no idea just an unbelievable showcase from the Calder Cup finals just congrats again all the fans back in Abbottzford that showed up all season all through this playoff run especially for games three four and five just an unbelievable show of support well they’re going to be bringing a trophy back for you guys to celebrate with this game was so Abbottzford Kuck never giving up resilience down by two this place was coming alive and what do they do they rally they score the next three and now they’re going to have to declare a trophy at customs on the way home pretty incredible stuff as the handshakes are almost complete one of the best traditions in hockey and man give credit to the Checkers what a playoff they had Landon they left it all all on the ice as well oh they did as their fans are saluting them right now as they’re about to head off the ice for the final time of the 2425 season they deserve this round of applause they were such a wagon coming through the playoffs they take well they lose game one of the finals they come back with a great effort again in game two win that one in OT come to Abbottzford lose the first two have a great showing in game five to force a game six back here in Charlotte but just like we had talked about this the word that goes with this Abbey Kuck team is resilient for the second time they go down two nothing in a game to start out and they battled back and there wasn’t any doubt in their eyes
