Martin announces his retirement officially, hired by our front office

Love this. Seems like Darche wants to keep him around to get a feel of the locker room.
Very nice love to see former players stick around shows you ownership is well liked
This makes me very happy. Matt is a great guy and can be a huge asset to the organization now that he’s decided to hang up the skates.
So happy to have him staying around the team.
I’m glad he’s still around. Definitely one of my favorite Islanders of all time.
Always one of my favorites second to his mate Casey. Big fan since early days.
I thought we only promote backup goalies to front office positions
Good for him, he did a lot for the organization and put his body on the line for many years. It’s nice we are paying homage to that. And he seems like a genuine great guy.
I just hope as one other poster said it’s not trading one country club for another. The attitude and identity of this team needs to change. I sincerely hope Darche and Martin are ruthless as is needed. Be like Vegas, if a guy is not up to snuff ship his ass out immediately. Say what you will about Vegas being “heartless” but if they need to make a move they do it and don’t give two shits who it is going out the door in pursuit of their goal.

I’m glad he is still apart of the organization! Thank you Martin for all the loyalty and joy you’ve brought to this franchise.
