I don't think Verbeek is done yet. I would prefer judging the Zegras deal once Anaheim's offseason work is done and I see how the entire puzzle comes together

Some of his other musings around the trade:

In talking to other teams who looked into a trade for Zegras, another concern was his $5.75 million qualifying offer a year from now when he's a restricted free agent – in the event he doesn't bounce back and find his offense, that is. Long way of saying, the Ducks didn't have as big a market as you might have thought for a player with that brand name. And the Flyers took full advantage of it.

  1. “If the Ducks have their way” is the only important part here. We need to be able to sell Anaheim as a desirable destination for free agents and trade targets with NTCs

  2. We’re well below the cap floor so obviously we’re not done yet. As for the qualifying offer thing, I don’t see why that would matter that much. If he doesn’t play up to that sort of qualifying offer then you don’t give him one.

  3. Anyone got a really big applicator? I need this copium in significant quantities.

  4. So what, they’re signing Marner AND Ehlers AND Ekblad AND trading for Robo?

  5. There is always a reason behind the why. The sting of the trade definitely hurts but there has to be a bigger move. Hopefully, Verbeek is up to the challenge with the limited Free Agency prizes.

  6. The thing that bothers at least me with the saying of, “Anaheim moved Zegras yesterday to create cap space.” Is Anaheim has $36 million unless Verbeek plans on adding Marnar, Ekblad, Ehlers, and Robertson, where the fuck are you going to spend all that money?

  7. I’d love to believe it but Verbeek needs to prove he is capable of a move this smart first.

  8. if the Ducks DON’T have their way I’m gonna be extremely pissed for trading Z
