I get that Berrero didn’t have a role at all except “backup CF” and pinch runner, but Hampson? I looked up his career and his best season was a 1.9 WAR which came in Colorado. I remember when we’d pick up someone and there would be a buzz, and it almost always worked. But that stopped around 2016 and bet Hampson is back on waivers when Herrera comes back.
Per Denton, the new guy came “highly recommended” by Jon Jay and Brant Brown from their time in Miami.
