  1. We gotta stop using the term “BREAKING” so much. I thought he was headed to free agency.

  2. Damn, Kyrie folded on the 40 million. Now he only gets 39.66M per year on average :(( poor guy.

  3. someone make a post to contrast the comments here from the post an hour ago

  4. I’m happy for him. I will never forget the magical performance he and Luka put on in the run to the finals last year (and I say this as a neutral). It was some of the most fun I’ve ever had watching sports.

  5. I like it for Dallas. This is your bed now, but it’s a bed with Kyrie, AD and Cooper Flagg

  6. So a 6’2 guard after ACL is still worth $40M, but Luka isn’t worth a supermax.

  7. Kyrie making his choice to stay in Dallas, I guess everyone was wrong about why he was at Lakers games

  8. An ACL is not as bad as an Achilles injury with. ACL with a good surgeon and medical advancements and a lot of help you can recover back to 100%. However with Achilles that’s much harder to do. So this contract is quite good for the Mavs.

  9. Hilarious. Didn’t hit the $40 million a year mark like was reported, signed instead for $39.66 million a year.

Sounds like Nico “won” another negotiation!

  10. Good deal by Kyrie. Still paid and can get one last decent Contract before he retires.

  11. You’re telling me Mavs are more comfortable giving post ACL tear 33 year old kyrie irving a 3 year deal than 26 year old Luka

  12. The last thread I read said Nico was dumb for saying win now with AD and lowballing his other star

  13. Fuck this, let him walk if he’s gonna opt out of a year he’s not gonna play.

  14. The League has changed so much. There was literally no players getting this type of money this late in their careers.

  15. If he took the max 8% raises, it would be $36.7M, $39.6M, $42.8M

So $76.3M for two years – $32M for the one extra year – if he opts out

$119M for three years or $76M in new money for the two years if he doesn’t opt out

  16. Is this front loaded? Because would be really good for both Kyrie and Mavs if it was given his current situation.

  17. They shave off about 7m from his player option to bring his salary down from 43m to 36m, which gives them enough flexibility to sign a caretaker PG for the tax MLE

  18. Trading Luka for a walking talking injury, and handing 33 year old flat earthier $120 million over the next 3 years!

Did Magic Johnson get a GM job again?
