The offseason is here, and one of the most crucial things to know going into it is how each team stands on a position-by-position basis. Today, we look at each team’s center depth with regard to what they already have and what they need this summer.
Using Net Rating as a starting point, we looked at how much value each team is currently carrying down the middle to figure out what holes they need to address. The stronger a team looks up the lineup, the better its baseline looks.
After adding a subjective touch to the rankings, here’s how each team’s center depth ranks from best to worst before free agency begins.

Surprised to see the Flyers weren’t last, that’s a real indictment of Nashville. Wonder how much Philly would move up from the Zegras trade…I suspect not as much as fans would think.
I may be a homer but listing Drais as the second best player when MacK exists is certainly a take
If you scroll way, way down you’ll find my Boston Bruins. How the hell we’re going to get a #1 centre is anybodys guess, but we are in dire fucking need of one.
Probably worth mentioning that the Wild did also sign another young center in Yurov.
Lol, Edm doesn’t need a center, they need defense..
Weird that they say the Wings don’t need help but can only cite Larkin and potential for Kasper.
The pens current center dept chart a la Puckpedia is
-Sid
-Geno
-Kevin Hayes
-whatever assortment of all the other centers in the team plays there
The advantage the Pens have that The Athletic doesnt mention is every forward sans Rust and Boko Imama is a center. They are both wingers
Ideally you would have Geno move to the wing and have Tomasino take over on center on that line, Hayes 3rd line center and Noel Accairi as 4th line center
Hawks need an upgrade everywhere.
