I just keep refreshing Reddit ugh

  1. Most of the league is buyers and really if you look around the only team really to do anything so far has been Dallas (because they are in cap hell). There’s a lot of gamesmanship going on right now so unless you wanna be like the ducks and short sell instead of getting the best value it’s going to go to the very last second. I wouldn’t be shocked if there’s unreal amount of transactions tomorrow or Friday afternoon

  2. LOL! Just the meme we needed rn! Now that Noah Dobsons name is being thrown around, I would assume DW has called on that. Sounds like we are taking a big swing at Marner – still would be a shocker if he came here, but I’m for it. Maybe a 4 year deal for a bigger amt than a 7 year monster contract? Long shot. I agree that the deals are hard to make now, but expect some action Friday.

  3. First of all, what a fantastic picture of Don. I hadn’t seen that before.

Second – I feel your pain. It’s been agonizing waiting for any moves to happen, but it’s such a saturated market this year with cap rising and basically everyone being buyers. I do believe Don will get something done before Friday night though.

What has me a more uneasy is that we still don’t have any updates on the Fabbro extension (or to a lesser extent Provy). I really thought we would have an update by now….

  4. I understand what you mean and I hope we get some deals done, ultimately: I do not want to see them spent to the cap JUST to spend to the cap. Or make a trade just to make a trade. The rebuild is still ongoing. If we walk out of this offseason with cap space left over, I will not think they “failed” this offseason.

I am high on the young players we have. As a fun example of wishful thinking, I think Marner would thrive along side our players (and his family would be comfortable in the Columbus community). Now, he won’t sign here, but I don’t blame Waddell for shooting his sales pitch. But we are not a player away.

Quite frankly, besides seeing Fabbro back in the fold I’d be more excited to see them sign/trade for goalie help.

Waddell is just now a year into his job, a year to get familiar with the roster/players, and I think he knows a big name signing isn’t going to smooth other the holes we still need help with.

  5. i will rather wait than have a panic move. lets be patient it will eventually come.

  6. I’d rather we just get the Fabbro deal done. He’s the most important acquisition we can make for next year and it won’t cost us any assets.

  7. At this point we will probably have to wait until Friday. There are rumors that we could package both picks to move up, there are also rumors that we are trading both picks, and rumors that we will stay put and use both picks. I’m guessing there’s a player they like in the top 10, there are players they like later, and if a better offer comes in he probably has things lined up for a trade. Waddell said at the deadline that he had trades lined up but the teams didn’t want to do them until the offseason, so there are probably things out there but we just have to be patient. Furthermore, we offered $14.5 million to Mitch Marner. That could be affecting a lot of things as well, since we don’t want to sign anybody else to fill that spot if Marner is going to sign with us

  8. a point brought up on a hockey podcast i recently listened to was: we are in a good spot, our core is getting ready to compete. Make smart moves this offseason and if the big swing doesn’t make sense we can wait a year for the next crop of UFA’s. I hope we bolster this roster as much as the next guy but I don’t want to have another regretful contract on the books during our window or contention

  9. I would imagine Don is spending all his time on either Rasmus Andersson or Filip Hronek. Both rumored to be on the block, and Don is probably just finding best value playing both GMs off each other. I’d think he’d be willing to give more for Hronek as he is signed longer, but Andersson is close with Monny and Gudbranson, so I doubt he’d be completely against signing once he gets here.

Filling that hole is a major step. #1 priority.

Dobson doesn’t excite me as much since we really need D steadiness. He’s more offensive minded. Some lapses on his part. Great puck mover though.

  10. We’re like a week into the offseason, stuff will probably start happening at the draft. All I really want asap is a Fabbro extension
