welcome back to Chicago this is from the previous pitching change tory Lavell with Catel Marte in tears on the pitcher mound waiting for the reliever to come in consoling Catel Marte who was in tears marte in tears kneeling down behind second base being consoled by his teammates now we can only speculate as to what bad news that Catel has received but he was very emotional out there as Beaks comes in to face Austin Slater the pinch hitter and Slater batting for Rojos flies out no idea why Catel was in tears there during the pitching change he might be upset about his teammate Demaro Vargas suffering a broken foot earlier in the game but that was unusual um yeah just um it was a terrible moment um fans are nasty and fans go too far sometimes and um I love my players and I’m going to protect them your protection starts way before today though you guys go so far it’s We were talking on the air i know you’re a father figure to him are you not right yeah um you know I’ve known Catel for nine years and he’s had some unbelievable unbelievably great moments and some hardships as well and some really really tough moments in his life and I know those um and at the end of the day we’re human beings and we have emotions and I saw him hurting and I want to protect them can you tell us what you told them um I love you and I’m with you and we’re all together and you’re not alone and no matter what happens no matter what was said or what you heard um that guy’s an idiot and shouldn’t have an impact on you

Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte broke down in tears on the field Tuesday night after a heckler allegedly made comments about his late mother.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said after the 4-1 road win over the White Sox that the fan made the purported remarks during Marte’s at-bat in the top of the seventh inning.

Lovullo put his arm around Marte and consoled him while on the field to make a pitching change in the bottom of the inning, and Marte continued to wipe away tears during the rest of the frame.

  1. I can talk about my Mom dying from cancer sometimes with a straight face and take that reality, and try to encourage others without emotion. But, sometimes that grief hits you in a second and you don’t know it’s coming. I’d speculate that’s exactly what happened here. You can block out what you want, but when it hits…it really hits. And for a fan to be doing that is inhumane. That woman brought him life. Fuck that fan.

  2. I hope the heckler didn't know his mom died in 2017 and it was just a generic comment about his mom. Why would they even know that info and use it against a player. That's what I'm hoping.

  3. Similar shit by a St. Louis Blues fan who pissed all over Red Wings defenseman Vladimir Konstantinov AFTER he was nearly killed in a limo accident just days after winning the Cup.
Some fans are absolute disgraces to themselves and the people who brought them into the world and raised them.

  4. Whatever POS said that I’m sure you’re reading the comments enjoying this. When a tragedy comes your way, and it will, as it does for all of us, remember what you said.

  5. Really?!?! Words making grown men cry?!?! Jesus christ, this dude is soft! Yes, the fan yelled some foul and over the top stuff. But to be banned for life …..really? And the player, either go fight him or STFU. Men are gay these days I SWEAR! 😂😂😂

  6. Whatever happened to kindness and compassion? I pray for him as well as the heckler. Whoever said that to Ketel Marte has a truly dead heart. My heart goes out to Ketel, no one should be subject to that kind of abuse for any reason.

  7. This is pathetic. Professional male athletes don't cry from heckling. "There's no crying in baseball " What a time 😂

  8. I'm a Dodger Fan through and through. I love Ketel play he is one of the best. The Diamond Back's are a class origination. The fan that said whatever he said should ashamed of himself. He is a sick dude one of the many sick people in the world. Hang in there Ketel don't let it get you down.

  9. When I was young, I was too immature to console Other Men in tough times. After I heard about the self deletion rate, I try my best. Though I don't know what to say

  10. As a Dbacks fan, my heart goes out to Marte. That man has been a class act from Day 1 and his teammates LOVE him. Thank you Torey for being such an awesome manager, too. 🙏❤🐍

  11. This is why Jarren Duran said what he said and why it was absolutely ridiculous that he apologized or had to apologize for it. In any way. A lot of these fans say what they want to say which is fine it's a free country, however Dennis Santana smack the fan last week for saying something as well and Tommy Pham has been ready to crash out every other week was fans for saying stuff as well. I think it's good for the game but you got to let the players stand up for themselves and say their piece.

  12. Surprising this happened in Chicago? No! Chicago will go to hell one day! There is a demon in that city!
For real! And it will be bannished to the pit it came from too! One day…

  13. in the 1970s the White Sox had an outfielder named Claudel Washington and fans hung a KING SIZED BED SHEET with the words "Washington slept here" on it as they berated him for being so bad…that was the "light stuff", serious levels of racial slurs and worse. Not one tear shed.

Science says topterone levels are at dangerous low levels in people under 40 and its worse the younger you go. The average 30 year old male has T levels of men in their 60s…this story is proof of it and the MLB may as well allow women on the teams.
