Can the NJ Devils and Vegas Golden Knights pull off this Blockbuster Trade?

notification bell to all thank you all so much and let’s get started so I know a lot of you are clicking on this video and saying “This guy’s an idiot.” You know they’re not never going to make this trade but please stay with me throughout the whole video because I’m going to go over you know how I think this is possible if the Devils want to go this route i do feel like the team needs to add a couple of pieces and you know I don’t think free agency is the way to go this year i think with the the cap going up a lot you’re seeing a lot of these names already kind of finding which team they’re going to be on with rumors going around and they they seem like plausible rumors where they’re not too out of the ordinary and you’re hearing a lot of the prices of these players and it’s just astronomical where I don’t want the Devils to do that i don’t want them to get locked into another eight-year deal for a player that’s making 8 N million and they don’t deserve that contract or you know not not to say they don’t deserve it but they’re not going to live up to that contract so in this I heard rumors going around all day and I I always had a player that I wanted to get from the Vegas Golden Knights um but hearing the other players name I’m kind of like maybe they could swing both them that would be awesome if they can that would add a lot of depth to the Devils and you know would solve a lot of issues so let’s get into this video i’ll talk about all the the the news that was going on the rumors going around and how this could work for the New Jersey Devils and for the Vegas Golden Knights please stay with me throughout so to Tomas Hurdle’s name was going around earlier in the morning a lot of tweets were going around about him uh I saw one in particular that said Tomas Hurdle’s name is one I’ve heard a few times since last week reports he may be on his way out of Vegas this morning to the Eastern Conference then I saw a couple of Cam Robinson tweets um you know one of them named the the Carolina Hurricanes of course it would name them um they’re a team that’s going to I have a feeling make some huge uh acquisitions this off season and um you know it would suck for us but you know saw a couple of tweets going around but Cam Robertson uh tweeted out that Hurdle has a modified trade clause with three teams that he’ll accept a trade to that kicks in I believe July 1st so you know maybe if they come to him with a team that’s outside the box he looks at the way the team is structured maybe he’ll say okay to it i don’t know but you know then uh another another tweet that he put out was that um from asking around it does not appear the Carolina Hurricanes has any deals in place or closing in on anything at this time so that got me excited to think maybe it is the Devils that that they’re talking about um Nick Hippio tweeted out that um Vegas is clearing out cap space to make other moves uh if not Carlson then uh Ivan Barbashev is another name Vegas um another Vegas forward who could be uh on the move um Vegas getting ready to make he also said that Vegas is getting ready to to take a huge run at Marner and Elliot Freeman also put out that a lot of people think Vegas is the team to beat for MNER and that’s what he was talking about in the 32 thoughts podcast a lot of uh NHL analysts are saying that Vegas is one of those top teams to really land Marner and they have to clear out a lot of cap space and then you have Eel’s contract uh expiring soon within you know after this upcoming year so um they’re going to need a lot of money for him they’re going to need a lot of money for Mner so they’re going to have to make some drastic moves and that’s where the Devils should pounce on the Vegas Golden Knights because this is a team that you know you’re not giving up a lot of roster players you’re probably going to give up well I I put Mercer in this situation but you know you’re going to give up a little bit of a piece to make the salary cap work for both teams but not a lot else is going to go the other way you know in regards to players where it most likely be picks and prospects going the other way to the Vegas goal tonight so this is a situation that I hope Tom Fitzgerald is keeping an eye out on i was pissed when we lost out of Mason Marchman you know Trevor Ziggress I was you know not as bummed about because I don’t think he fits where the Devils need but um you know to see those trades and those players not going for a lot maybe Fitzgerald can make something work out like this but in this situation let’s talk about how this could possibly work for the New Jersey Devils um in this case I bought out Pott um I do think he’ll be traded you know the San Jose Sharks and Mike Greer had been saying that they they’re willing to take on bad contracts uh for picks and prospects so you know the relationship between Tom Fitzgerald and Mike Greer that’s a situation that can work out maybe you could trade Palot and and offload all of his contract but in this case I bought it out since you know it’s just the easier thing to do with Buckpy in this case then I signed Luke Hughes to his extension which was you know that that projected thing that was going around that six-year contract for 8.3 million AAV um again like I said in my last video I think it’s going to be anywhere from 7.5 to 8.5 so 8.3 is not too far-fetched then I traded Dawson Mercer with his $4 million in cap space he’s got a bit of term and you know how the Vegas Golden Knights like to do they like to get those young players um and see how they could work with them so um you know I think Dawson Mercer would fit in nicely with the Vegas Golden Knights he can play anywhere in your lineup wings center uh and he’s comes with a bit of term too and he’s young so you know I traded him i traded a 2025 second round pick and a 2025 fourth round pick i do believe it’s going to be maybe more prospects thrown in into this case as well but I did this for now i don’t know what else you know the Devils can throw in but I traded him to the Vegas Golden Knights for Ivan Barbashev and Tomas Hurdle and I know that’s a lot a lot of people are going to be saying that’s a lot of a lot of cap hit to go other way but you’re offloading Dawson Mercer’s four that brings the Devil’s cap hit to 18 million 18.3 million then going out uh then coming in would be the 11.8 for um Tomas Hurdle and Barbashev and I also resigned Luke Hughes so it’s not that farfetched when you’re looking at the salary cap yes it is a bit over but we do have Kavich that you can put on LTIR to start the year um that relieves cap space where it’s okay but other moves can be made and this is again this is only buying out Pot this is not trading his whole contract off which I think Fitzgerald can do with a bit of magic um you know and then looking at the lineup you know this is something that man this this roster would look really nice with these two players added you can add uh you can have Jesper Brad you can have Jack Hughes you can have Barbashev on that line and I love the way Barbashev plays he plays a physical brand of hockey he can put points on the board he’s a Stanley Cup winner and he can be that complimentary piece where he can give Jack and Brad the the the room they need to do whatever they do and he can do that dirty work in front he can play along the boards he can hit he can play physical and be that protection for those two players so I would really like Barbish in this case i really like the way he plays especially come playoff time then I would keep together that line that we’ve seen this past year with Meer Heir and Nason then you could have Hurdle on your third line or you could have him playing with Heir and Meyer uh you know he’s familiar with Meyer they play together in San Jose so that can work but um you know I have him here just to spread the depth out I have Hurdle Carter and Gritzuk that would be a really good line then I have on the fourth line I brought up Leance uh Lam Lamo was just signed and I have Halin so with that line you have Halin who could play physical and put points on the board like he did last year playing for Udica uh Lamo we’ve seen the way he played most most notably overseas and little time in the NHL So but the word on on him he’s a grinder he’s a fourth line muck and grind sort of player uh and he could play center and wing and you know with Le Chance his size and his big body and frame I think having him on the fourth line could really you know benefit that type of brand of hockey that they need with that energy line with that hitting line and physicality so you know with Hurdle I I know he’s a bit older he’s 31 years old but he can play center and wing currently on a contract that he’s getting uh 6.8 8 million uh after that trade that you know with um San Jose took some some some cap off of that uh when they made that trade he’s in year four of eight so it comes with a bit of term and last year he played in 73 games had 32 goals 29 assists for 61 points uh Barbashv on the other hand 29 years old listed as a center wing two but most notably plays in the wing he’s in year three of five of his contract so he has two more years left on his deal and last year he played 70 games he had 23 goals 28 assists for 51 points and he’s at 5 million a year on his cap so you know when you’re looking at what the Devils are going to do in free agency you’re looking at some of the names out there besser is going to be 7 million plus you’re hearing reports of him probably being 8.5 million a year uh Eers is going to be anywhere from like 8 to 9 million a year is what’s projected with him um you know I don’t even want to talk about Mner he’s going to be anywhere from like 12 to 14 million every person is going to be a lot of money i mean if the Devils can find someone in free agency that would take a bit of a haircut to come to New Jersey it’s it’s not going to happen and even a player like Grahamlin is projected to go like 6 6.5 so it’s going to be a lot with the cap going up with a lot of teams having a lot of cap space you’re going to see these players making more and especially on free agency we know that we always overpay just look at what we gave Pot for his uh contract so you always overpay in free agency so I hope Fitzgerald goes the trade route i would really like this trade i really would i I know there um I know Hurdle’s a bit older he’s been through some injury issues but you know he could still put up 30 goals 60point years and um you know Barbara I like the way he plays 20 plus goals plays physical he could bring that brand of hockey that we lack and when you’re looking at the line breakdown of all these lines you have two skilled players and you have a player that can play put some points on the board and also be that protection type for those other two players so I like the way this breaks down with our lines it adds that depth that we need and we know the Devils are going to be active just how active is Tom Fitzgerald going to be but this is a trade that I hope that the Devils even look at even to bring one of these players in not both but you know if they could bring both in and make this work I I don’t know i I would like this i I like these two players and I think they would offer a lot to the Devils for this upcoming season so comment below what do you think about this and it’s not going to be a lot over i know after the projections it’s about a million.8 over but again that’s buying out Pilot not trading him and there’s other moves that can be made throughout the year only concern I have is is when Kovich comes back from injury what happens with the cap then so that’s what I worry about in the situation of bringing both players over but you know that’s for the capologist and all that to figure out but comment below what do you think about this is this too far-fetched of an idea to bring both these players in or would Devils fans would you like to see this happen and I know I know the Knights fans are going to be in the comments section saying that we should be getting more i agree i just didn’t know what prospects would be added to this or you know what else to add to the deal but Mercer would be a good player for for the Vegas Golden Knights and I could see him being on Withe the 2025 NHL Draft and Free Agency starting in days Rumors are swirling that the Vegas Golden Knights are favorites to sign Mitch Marner and they need to create cap space. The NJ Devils should be all over this and 2 players that have been rumored to be on the move are Tomas Hertl and Ivan Barbashev.
