ready for baseball here in New York towing the slab in today’s game David Peterson and Singi we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots i’ve just been so impressed with when it seems like there’s more pressure he’s more calm and settles in he’s done an incredible job with runners in scoring position most guys they get a little tight they start to aim the baseball but for some reason he gets looser the ball comes out of his hand with more life and he’s able to wiggle off the hook of you know tough situations and get his team back in the dugout out to short gloves it on the dive the throw but he beats it out and the leadoff man is on with an infield single the effort from both players involved in this play just really stands out to me i mean you got the diving stop at short which was outstanding and how can you not love the hustle flying down the line that’s just great baseball at an extremely high level here’s Matt Olsen now Peterson measures 6′ 6 in he features a sinker a fourseamer a slider a change up and he occasionally uses a curve akuna gets his lead at first nobody out swing and a miss he was late strike two that misses now one two see if he can go upstairs a little bit make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading the count one two don’t miss in the zone cuz that’s where you get hurt pitch misses inside and the count’s even a two swings through that and it’s a strike out and now one away and he’ll be beating himself up on the way back to the dugout got a pitch to hit just couldn’t get to it i think that slider really caught way more of the plate than it was supposed to here comes Austin Riley snap throw to first akuna dives back in and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike fast ball for a strike line drive and this might be trouble lead runner around second coming home the relay throw he will score and the Braves take the lead one- nothing still able to come through behind in the count right there not a bad pitch by any means down and away right on the corner of the zone just a better swing boo stayed through it and hit it hard the other way here’s Marcelo Zuna it’s been a tough stretch for him at the plate under the Mendoza line so far this month fast ball is outside he’s a master at hitting fast balls you need to be careful with location if you’re going to throw them [Applause] runner at second here one gone [Applause] fights it off he’ll see another [Applause] line drive base hit here comes Riley he’ll score easily and it’s an RBI single and they take a two-run lead comes through with the RBI solid swing from start to end on time with everything really good balance nice extension and he met it out front for the line drive knock man at first with one gone drake Baldwin next up for the Braves that one misses and that’s ball one at the belt and fires [Applause] looks like he’s just sizing him up there really good pitch to hit but he took it all the way sometimes guys just want to set their timing later on in the game that may be a pitch that he turns on in there at the knees for a strike outside with a breaking ball man at first one away [Applause] got it looking for the K called strike three and a fast up in the zone that is it here is Aussie Ali’s update and first offering is fouled off well they’re really running up the pitch count in this first inning lots of confidence from this team that is perhaps the hottest in baseball right now ball one low i got one ball one strike [Applause] to the right side toss to Alonzo out number three but two runs for him and they jump ahead bottom half of inning number one coming up it’s the Braves two and the Mets nothing back here at City Field and on the mound in this one Dylan Dodd well this guy’s just been filthy out there on the mound hitters batting under 200 against him and they’re just having a hard time squaring up anything doing any type of damage the only way he hurts himself is if he gives up the free passes and surrenders a rare home run but outside of that it’s going to be a tough job for the opposing lineup today bottom of the first now a chance for Francisco Lindor that’s a strike across the top of the zone one’s the count [Music] next offering is fouled back come on Francisco in the air out to center it falls in and that’s a knock man aboard on the leadoff single well he found himself behind in the count right there but he didn’t give in that can be a dangerous pitch if you don’t get it inside enough because as a hitter you see it coming across the plate the whole way no problem handling it and putting a good swing on it that time starling Marte up to in the dirt but kept close [Music] hey let’s go next pitch misses and that’s ball two lindor aboard here at first with nobody out [Applause] swings through that well and those hitters count sometimes can be a little too aggressive and a good pitcher will play off of that he’s got to get a better pitch to hit got him swinging pretty nasty cutter right there and you’re seeing that pitch that location a lot more these days and you can see why very difficult for hitters i think the great Mariano Rivera can at least partially be credited for that thanks to the career he had with the cutter it was just dominant i tell you what I felt like it was a moral victory whenever I could put that pitch in play so I can feel for the guy right there walking back to the dugout and now it’s Juan Sodto that pitch gets the inside corner and that is strike one [Music] that clips the corner [Applause] spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another that wasn’t an easy pitch to hit it’s much easier to do damage against mistakes but that’s not what that pitch was the two [Applause] strike three and that’s two in a row oh interesting and he’s looking very comfortable out of the stretch after giving up the leadoff single backto-back strikeouts so they haven’t been able to move that runner up get him into scoring position and try to have a better chance of scoring i tell you good job so far on the mound he just needs one more out pete Alonzo stands in with two away as he takes a ball [Music] just two count to a guy with this much pop at the dish you better expect him to be turning on something it’s going to either get hit hard to the pull side or the fans better look out in the stands that one missed good spot there but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone let’s go that one ripped right center field into the bullpen and gone so he goes the opposite way with that one it’s 2-2 it’s no surprise this guy has won the home run derby multiple times he was born to hit him [Applause] that’s an impressive swing of the bat to go over the wall to the opposite field gap and know there are a lot of guys that just don’t have the pop to do that and probably just as many who don’t have the approach either he let that ball travel and he got great extension on the follow through to drive it out of here brandon NMO the next to hit takes ball one [Applause] two balls no strikes to count dodd maybe a little less aggressive on the mound right now after that home run Chris yeah it seems that way you know guys they can come out feel good but then all of a sudden get touched up a little bit and they start trying to throw instead of pitch they’re not trusting their stuff let’s see if he gives him anything to hit here they say when well he’s been good for the most part is it going to take someone going out to the mound to maybe refocus him a bit well partner every pitcher is a little different i I liking it to you sometimes you come in and you’re not as focused and I kind of do what it takes to get you on track and then you have a great show uh so perhaps it’s the same with him nobody really wants their rhythm broken up but sometimes they need a little pickme up luis stepping in for New York luis Torren [Applause] now snap throw to first and he’s back in there [Applause] and that’s outside [Applause] and a strike on the outside corner and a count even at one [Applause] hard grounder into the outfield for a knock harris fires it in quickly lead runner to second with two gone batting seven center fielder first and second two outs and next for the Mets Tyrone Taylor and fouled off well lots of pitches thrown in this first inning it’s kind of that nightmare scenario for starting pitching but you know what it’s still early enough he can settle in and he can get some length if he just cleans up his mechanics a little bit comebacker to the mound inning over and it could have been worse the Pete Alonzo blast for the Mets two- two game it’s Major League Baseball on the show top of the second here’s Alex Verdugo alex Verdugo well after scoring runs this is where you’re looking for that shut down inning get that hot team back in there to swing the bats and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter and that misses and it’s one and one one and one and a swing and a miss spin rates outstanding on that high fast really tough to hit [Applause] fouls it off still one and two liner caught at second nothing you can do about those as a hitter even though you know that they still drive you absolutely crazy and next for Atlanta Michael Harris II singing he’s never finished the season with more stolen bases in his entire career first pitch misses in the air left field down the line nmo running hard to get it can’t get there this one lands foul two balls one strike that one fouled off two and two tied up here in the early going one down base is empty gets a piece there we’ll do it again that’s a little high and the count is filled up still just the second batter of the inning and on the mound he’s already thrown 13 pitches they got him working hard out there fouled off again and it remains three and two the 3-2 is outside and it’s ball four it wasn’t easy but he earned that walk after a long at bat when you go that deep into a bat the hitter usually comes out on top mad at first Nick Allen next up for the Braves fought off foul pickoff move to first and he’s back in safely harris over at first with one away let’s get the easy now let’s go swing and a miss and that’s strike two daryl Parker assigned to umpiring duty behind home plate and boo with DP it’s sort of a coin flip on those borderline corner pitches doesn’t really favor one side of the plate more than the other sometimes you’ll get a little extra the plate and sometimes you won’t it does seem like he evens it out over the course of a game though almost got him kicking the pitch runner goes swing and a miss throw to second not in time he’s there easily a pass for Atlanta right fielder Ronald Auna Jun and here is Ronald Akuna Jr reached on an infield single his first time he’s been such a good hitter with runners in scoring position some guys just take it to another level for him right now at the plate it’s like everyone else is in slow motion and he’s in full speed and the first pitch misses for ball [Applause] and there’s a ball well no need to go right at this guy first base is open he can hurt you so make him expand his zone if he doesn’t give him a walk sliced hard but foul two outs and one in scoring position and that one a little bit high matt Olsen the kind of bat that can make a big impact if they can keep it going here now a screamer into the outfield taylor makes the grab and that’ll do it braves strand one score remains 2-2 [Applause] we head to the bottom of the second ronnie Moraicio now third baseman Ronnie Mauricio do back to work that just misses and it’s one and0 [Applause] ball two [Applause] that one ripped that’s a base hit and a good start to the inning the batter down Luis Anel luis Anel Opuna [Applause] ball one and a pitch inside he’s great hitting the ball the other way and that pitch did a good job to straighten him up a bit mission accomplished and that’s just foul and that one’s a little bit low and it’s two in one and there’s a foul ball runner at first with no outs here and that’s off the inside edge and it’s a full count [Applause] swing and a miss struck him out and he’s registered threeks in this one this guy will throw any pitch in any count 32 he goes off speed gets the out francisco Lindor here’s Francisco Lindor one for one with a single and a run scored so far rips one to right akuna snags it for the second out up next for the Mets designated hitter Starling Mart here’s Starling Marte struck out swinging his first time come on let’s go ball one no strikes [Music] two outs there’s the strike let’s go New York gets him to chase after that one benny really sells the change up with that arm action [Music] good eye right there really good take especially with two strikes that one down the line and it goes just fouled two gone but the go-ahead run is at first bottom half of inning number two that one the other way and foul ball i wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball try to go again with a fast ball slightly elevated he just having a hard time catching up the two- two on the way cut on and missed and it’s a strikeout and that is the inning they get a leadoff single but leave him stranded we head on down to the top of the third we are tied 2-2 back here in Queens top half of the third inning here’s Matt Olsson matt Olsen fouled off left side you know these Braves showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one they’re doing a good job of working the pitch count and they’ve been able to push a couple of runs across to score as well still relatively early but with the pair of runs already on the board the ripple effect of that high pitch count might set them up to do more damage later in this game here’s the pitch to Olen and one and two two strike fast ball is outside there’s a swing and a drive that one back there over the bullpen and gone see you later a solo shot it’s 32 he absolutely crushed that one no doubt about that one Boo we knew it wasn’t coming back that home run was a no doubter as we dive into the numbers with Stackcast crushed Boo just absolutely crushed 112 mph on the exit VO and like you said no doubt about that one plenty of launch angle to give it that backspin as well and that carried way over the wall here’s Austin Riley one for one with a double and a run scored first pitch doesn’t find the zone always exciting to see a laid-off home run in an inning kind of gets the offense fired up and you start to expect a big inning nobody on nobody out with a run in we’re here in the top half of inning number three [Applause] the one-1 is fouled off knocks that one away and will do it again blows the high hem that’s a strike out that was a pretty good pitch top of the strike zone we’re seeing more fast balls in that location hitters especially with two strikes have to be ready to pull the trigger here comes Ozuna up to the plate singled and drove in a run his first time through and that’s downstairs ball one though Chris through the early stages he hasn’t been very efficient in terms of the pitch count he’s going to need to get some quick outs if he’s going to get deeper into this game [Applause] and it’s fouled away it is interesting though when you consider the way the game is run now doesn’t even matter that much if your starter doesn’t go that deep because teams are really aggressively building their bullpens pauls it in and there’s two away now batting catcher Drake Baldwin two down base is empty here’s the catcher drake Baldwin [Applause] delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95 [Applause] and ball one two out space is empty so a foul ball makes it one and two [Applause] lift it in the air right center field pulls it into Indiana braves get one on the big fly it’s now a 32 ball game popped up left side Riley and out number one on the grab up next for the Mets first baseman Pete Alonszo here’s Pete Alonzo he’s already homered here in this one who this batter gets described as a homebody because he loves playing at home and historically his numbers back it up and that’s in for a strike well he had a pretty good look at that pitch and not sure exactly what tied him up there couldn’t pull the trigger and perhaps the best pitch you’ll see in this at bat to hit harris has a beat on it and there are two down up next for the Mets here’s Brandon NMO work to walk in his first john Champi with Chris Singleton and set to lead off the fourth Azie Albies just missed albees measures 5’8 in 28 years old and he’s a native of Kurissowl and that’s in for a strike out to short Lindor and one gone in the fourth as they get the lead off man now batting left fielder Alex Verdugo so digging in Alex Verdugo 0 for one so far flying drive that’s a base hit out of the left center field so they get a man aboard with a one out single now batting centerfielder Michael Harris michael Harris the second next up for the Braves walked and stole a base his first time right through there for a strike [Applause] verdugo leads off first with one away next pitch a slider that misses outside oh he’s really working him away this at bat sometimes take a little bit off velocity try to get a roll over something on the ground stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield the 1-1 is fouled off in the air right field pretty well struck that’s back there out of here and that should quiet this home crowd his seventh home run of the season and they boost their lead it’s 52 that’s a swing that’ll boost the win probability for sure for a pitcher the odds are in your favor if you keep that breaking ball down that time he got punished for it hitter just did a really good job of staying within himself and getting the barrel to the baseball one down Nick Allen next up for the Braves and first offering is fouled off one out base is empty [Applause] and that’s in the dirt and one and one [Applause] this to third and it goes just foul fights that one away still one and two one down base is empty fouls it off still one and two [Applause] way inside eighth pitch of the at coming up this one smoked on its way out of here they do it again back-to- back homers his first homer of the year and they tack on to their lead it’s 62 that’s their third home run of the game they’re having a lot of fun at the plate in this one they’ve got the long ball working for them on autopilot backto back jacks and this club is fired up right now Dave i mean this is the kind of thing where you really start to notice hitters in a lineup feeding off each other and the collective confidence just continues to grow here comes the skipper and we’re going to see a pitching change in this spot david Peterson departs and this is one he’d like to forget back with a new arm after this now pitching so they turned to Edwin Diaz out of the pen and he’s done a great job keeping the ball in the park this year the numbers stack up with some of the best in the game and now it’s Ronald Akuna Jr one for two [Applause] and that one just misses a ball and no strikes [Applause] you see the velocity 97 with that fast ball hit in the air left field nmo has it sized up he makes the catch and there’s two down just pulled off of it a little bit right there to that front shoulder coming open instead of staying closed if he does that he’s going to be able to go up the middle the other way with some authority instead of a fly out to left [Applause] olsen the batter now as he swings and misses for strike one bringing the cheese on that one next offering misses that’s ball one and that’s outside ball two [Applause] check swing did he go yes he did two gone base is empty but three runs across top half of inning number four swing and a miss edwin Diaz the strike out but two round swinging a foul out of play oh I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning anything after that a hitter or two is bonus but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line the 02 good eye in that spot that’s a really good take right there slider down and in very difficult to get on the same plane and do anything with ground ball up the middle fires to first on the run and very nicely done for the out i love how guys at this level are able to slow the game down whether it’s in the batters box or on defense and right there that was a good job of knowing just how much time he had we talk about that internal clock he was able to gather himself get a good grip and make an accurate throw across the diamond and that one hammered and it hops over the wall for an automatic double well there’s something really nice about getting yourself an automatic double like that you get to stroll into second base without having to worry about a throw or getting your uniform dirty and now you’re just looking for the next hitter to kind of do the same thing maybe put one in the gap so you can jog home as well so runner at second two down now at the plate Luis Anel Akuna strike one 0 and one runner at second two down we’re here in the bottom of the fourth new York bottom of the zone and a cold strike no balls two strikes look out and it hit him he had two strikes on him and he hit him and now it’s Frankie Lindor single and score back in the first he’s one for two if he can get through this one put up a zero this will help in his outings to come two on two outs one count look for him to be aggressive here you got some runners on base an opportunity to catch a mistake and put some runs up on the board let’s go next pitch downstairs two and two two balls two strikes battling here as he fouls it away two on two outs and that one missing inside a sharp slider foul we’ll see another payoff pitch good battle here about to be the eighth pitch of the at bat lifted in the air out to left verdugo makes the grab and that ends the inning two left for the Mets they still trail it here it’s six-2 ready now for the fifth inning so here’s Riley now austin Riley Diaz back to work and he grounds one back up the middle handles throws to first and the leadoff hitter retired in the fifth now batting the designated hitter Marcel Ozuna marcel Ozuna coming up to hit York that one missed that one drifts inside oh he never moved cuz he never had time to but that kind of velocity you’d prefer that pitcher work away here’s the pitch to Ozuna there’s the strike good pitch to hit on a T up in the zone i think he was looking for something else right there ball on three three balls one strike oh come on that one finds the corner and the count’s full three ball two strikes [Applause] that’s ball four tried another fast ball but missed the spot his ability to draw walks has been something that’s been part of his career since day one runner around at first with one gone and now the catcher comes up to him drake Baldwin 0 for two in this one fast ball and he gets out of the way maybe losing command a little bit after the walk next pitch not even close ozuna the runner at first with one gone in the inning that’s out it’s a tough pitch but in terms of the best pitch you’re going to get to hit in the at bat that fast ball was down enough where you’re going to catch up to one that’s the one when he elevates hitters aren’t touched it and there’s the automatic [Music] free foul ball and it remains a full count bows it back with two strikes eighth pitch of the at coming up he wanted that fast ball high and tight looking for a strikeout just didn’t locate it very well and ball four to a board all four no very close with the location right there it’s just tough to get rewarded on the call with pitches near the top of the strike zone first and second one out and here comes Azie Alb’s to the dish as grounded out a couple of times just miss Diaz he’s kind of a prototypical bullpen arm in today’s game electric stuff that results in a ton of strikeouts in a tough spot like this that is a big time benefit that catches the top part of the zone and the count one and one runners at first and second with one gone and we’re in the top of the fifth just off the inside edge now as a hitter when a guy like this comes into the game you feel like he’s standing on top of you and it’s just attack mode coming right at you expecting to get a swing and miss and a swing and a miss beat him with a fast ball pretty simple plan of attack on the mound right there huh yeah nothing but fast balls they just kept putting down the number one and letting it fly i like it yeah me too and I’d love to hit against that but of course when you’re in the box you think he’s bound to change speeds on you at some point you’re just kind of locked up sort of like reverse psychology so now to the plate for Atlanta Alex Verdugo that clips the corner pitch misses one and one two walks in the inning already and he just doesn’t seem comfortable out there like he can find the right mechanics and then repeat them liner and this could be trouble and that’s going to get into the corner one run across he’s in there it’s 82 gets the job done as he brings home a pair ripped that one down the line and kept it fair and even when you hit it that far out front you still have to keep your hands tight to your body so you don’t hook around that baseball and put it in foul territory and that right there was perfect man in scoring position with two away and now the center fielder Michael Harris II that misses the zone and that is ball one man at second he swings and fouls one off [Applause] the one-1 dives but it kicks off his glove flip to the pitcher is in time and they do get the third out of the inning so it’s two runs on one hit no errors and one man left last half of the fifth coming up it’s the Braves eight and the Mets two now pitching back now to start the bottom of the fifth and taking over on the mound number 36 he’s making his second appearance of the season starling Marte now for the Mets 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts stling Marte ground ball Olsen and he takes it himself for the out really nice job to get your first out of the ball right fielder Juan Sto here’s Juan Sto swing and a pop off in foul ground makes the grab two down up next for the Mets first baseman Pete Alonzo two out base is empty and now it’s the polar bear Pete Alonzo he’s already homered in this game first pitch misses movement in the bullpen spencer Schwelenbach getting ready to come in for manager Brian Snicker two down nobody on last half of inning number five fast ball in for a strike and the count one and one strike and that one missing low two one [Music] that one misses three and one [Applause] and a foul ball [Music] swing and a miss struck him out down in order go to Mets and it’s still 82 all set for the start of the inning now it’s the short stop mick Allen and the first pitch misses for ball one you know these Braves simply put are producing a lot of quality swings they have five extra base hits on the stat sheet so far and that tells me they’re seeing the ball out of the pitcher’s hand really well ripped on a line taylor makes a catch and there’s one down with all those extra base hits it’s easy to think we’re going to see that trend continue the rest of the game they seem to be really locked in at the plate here’s Ronald Auna Jr at the plate one for three slider clips the corner all one’s in the count got the bat going too soon it’s strike two base is empty one away and we’re the top half of the sixth and that one way outside and the count one and two York keeps the atbat going with a foul ball the one two fouled off and they’ll do it again and a foul ball he stays alive swings threw it and that’s a strike out nice doubled up with the slider for that punch out the one before just caught the zone so as a hitter you have to protect right there great pitch to just expand a little bit more he got that chase he was looking for that right there is good pitching olson the next to hit takes outside counts one and0 that one ripped but foul a little out front there as he swings through it clearly sitting on a fast ball right there and just ended up out in front of the slider hey you can’t fault him for his commitment now he’s just going to have to battle with two strikes [Music] and that one missing inside a sharp slider he should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked that one 95 to finish him off so they go quietly there we go to the bottom half of inning number six and the 567 slots do up it’s the Braves eight and the Mets two back here in part of the strike zone what does that mean top hand better be working for the hitters adjust that side a little bit give yourself a chance to hit that clips the corner full count fights it off he’ll see another swing and a miss struck him out and that’s one out as they get the leadoff hitter in the six well that’s the effect of the splitter that you’re looking for on the mound really nice pitch right there and had him out in front over the top i’m sure the batter was thinking he was getting something else perhaps a fast ball with a little more straight and vo to it and a popup right side foul territory tries to make the play but it’s foul one down base is empty pulls that one foul out towards right center field harris racing after it and there are two outs now batting the center fielder Tyrone Taylor two down base is empty tyrone Taylor up now for the Mets he’s grounded out a couple of times and first offering is fouled off the Braves up big in this one here in the bottom of the sixth next offering is in the dirt and that one fouled off [Music] high-fly ball out into left center field makes the play and it’s out number three now pitching taking over on the mound for the Mets rear big swing and miss stuff right here averaging more than one strikeout per inning this season so far he’s been pretty electric here’s Austin Riley a former first round pick and he’s really turned into a nice everyday player taken high in the draft he’s had that top prospect labeled over him since he put on a professional uniform but at some point that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level on the ground right side and foul ball garrett in his second season 32 years old a former first round pick back in 2018 close one doesn’t get the call and that’s ball one [Music] and there’s the ball one strike check swing he went and now two and two [Applause] had a good eye there fouled off again and it remains three and two that one misses so a lead off walk a great back and forth in that at bat he had to lay off some really close pitches and somehow Boogie found a way to keep the bat on his shoulder right there i’ll tell you right now I couldn’t have done decides to attack on the mound this guy at the plate has been great hitting under pressure this year on the ground two ball there’s one and a run scores on the double play for me that’s one of the toughest double plays to turn on the infield the first baseman has to get inside create a throwing lane to hit that middle infielder to start the double play and then from there completing it back to first really good job all the way around alex Verdugo next up for the Braves [Applause] and takes low for ball one two outs with a runner at third [Applause] there’s the swing and a miss he’s been great in this one eye hand coordination just failed him a little bit right there [Applause] tapped back up the middle that ends the inning and stops things from getting out of hand so a run-on one hit no errors and a man left seventh inning stretch time Braves nine and the Mets two [Music] this game’s a bit of a blowout sing let’s talk about something random let’s do it sing one of the biggest ways the game has changed bullpen arms so many elite level bullpen arms yeah and I’m glad I’m not playing anymore i mean it’s just a nightmare when that door swings open out of the bullpen you know what’s coming in is 95 and above with at least one nasty pitch that one missed the other component is you get less viewings of a specific pitcher so your ability to go to school on one guy you maybe get two looks at him and then he’s gone yeah and I mean these guys utilize the iPads and try to see previous footage of that picture but it’s just not the same as having an actual look that one misses so a lead off walk oh that’s a really good take right there and that’s just mentally prepared knowing that if it’s not on a T you’re going to take that pitch because you still have one more strike to work with not easy to lay off but he did an excellent job in that plate appearance akuna up for the third time here watches that one miss mauricio gets his lead at first with nobody out the 1-1 ripped on a line to center one away now batting shortstop francisco Lindor francisco Lindor comes up to the plate [Applause] and first offering is fouled off the Mets with a lot of ground to make up here in the bottom of the seventh that’s a ball squirts away a little bit [Applause] that one pushed foul out of play off to the left gets a piece and stays alive and it’s fouled off they’ll do it again one and two here and the slider just misses this guy’s a fun guy to watch taking at bat he just battles up there he doesn’t take a pitch off at all makes it so difficult on the pitchers out there you can tell they get frustrated with how long it takes to put him away base knock right field lead runner holds at third so two runners in scoring position and just one out man those are the types of hits where you don’t feel any vibration in your hands whatsoever such a good feeling that’s a good sound coming off the bat man and as he connected out front lifted into the outfield that’s one of those swings where you just don’t even feel the ball hit the barrel that’s a pure stroke two on with one out and here is Starling Marte 0 for three with two strikeouts and a ground out swanging a popup all these and there’s two away man it’s so frustrating you got a couple of runners on you want to try to drive in at least one run maybe you get a little too big with the swing pops out right there and I tell you what nobody’s more frustrated with that at bat than him and stepping in for New York Juan Sodto 0 for three in this one inside ball one and that’s in for a strike that’s out to center field harris has a beat on it and makes the grab that is the inning this one pretty well decided at this point we look ahead to inning number eight braves nine and the Mets two and welcome back to the ballpark and now here is Michael Harris II garrett back to work and the first pitch misses for ball one come on swing and a miss one ball one strike now a pop up on the infield mauricio he’s there he’s got it and there’s one down [Applause] nick Allen the next to hit let’s go New York first off and it just misses counts one and0 swing and a foul pushed off to the right and that will get out of play one down base is empty two balls one strike and that one wrapped foul pitch misses and it’s three and two swings through that one it’s the strikeout he’s locked in at the plate when he’s using the whole field he was out in front there just needs to let the ball travel a little more and his timing will be back on track good pitch for the strikeout here’s Akuna now with the shift on pits right into it mauricio with the throw to first and the retired and it’s a one-two inning for the Braves braves go down quickly here but they still lead it 9-2 now pitching they bring a young arm out of the bullpen in this spot spencer Schwellbach compared to some days this is a pretty low leverage appearance for him so he should be fairly free and easy out there still have to keep yourself sharp and attack the strike zone and now the first baseman Pete Alonzo first baseman Pete Alonszo the wind to the pitch that one ripped and it stays fair around first heading for two throws to second not in time that’s a leadoff double with that fast ball even though it’s high velocity you’ve got to live on the outer edges when it’s right on a te right down the middle professional hitters are not going to have a problem turning it around and next for the Mets Brandon NMO foul ball there [Music] [Applause] man at second swinging a ground ball and that’s just fouled ball that’s out well he missed badly with that 02 fast ball hitter has to understand probably wants to try to put him away with that pitch so got to stay ready for it that’s down and in [Applause] and he chases that one now one away boogie who started as a third baseman Alex Gordon and then became an elite perennial gold that’s hard hit on the line that’s a hit coming home here’s the throw to the plate safe at home and the runner scores from second and it’s 93 love how he let that ball travel trusted his hands nice job of going the other way so two down and now it’s switch hitting third baseman Ronnie Mauricio swinging a foul straight back yeah some guys just have instincts right i mean that’s the way it goes we talk about Larry Walker the Hall of Famer and his instinct on the bases despite the fact that he didn’t play a ton of baseball as a kid [Applause] swings through that one remember Mark Kat was a real good defensive outfielder good instincts not great speed let’s go Max the other way riley inning over a run on two hits and they leave one through eight full braves nine and the Mets three now pitching we’re back it’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the mound klay Holmes holmes well they need someone to stop the bleed and keep the score right where it is seems like a tough task today with the way this lineup is swinging it [Applause] at the plate now that’s ball one [Applause] that one fouled off yeah and I figured you would get Kat into this because you had a free dinner at his house the other night that is true swung on popped up left side mauricio sizes this one up corrals it and there’s one down now batting third baseman Austin Riley here is Austin Riley with this kind of lead he can swing freely try to hit the ball out of the park do what he loves to do [Applause] that’s a bullet but it goes foul [Applause] and downstairs i got one ball one strike [Applause] hard hit left side slings it across and a couple of quick outs now batting is the designated hitter Marcel Ozuna two outs space is empty and next is the designated hitter Marcel Ozuna [Applause] yeah that’s fouled off [Applause] two outs swaying in a ball popped in the air and that will drop foul cut out and miss struck him out and it’s a three up three down inning so no runs no hits no errors and no one left and 912 scheduled to lead off the bottom of the ninth braves nine and the Mets three and we’re back last chance for the home team now it’s the second base Luis Anel Aun first pitch and he just misses [Applause] well two and that’s a little bit low three ball no strike [Applause] that one misses so a lead off walk it’s tough after falling behind a hitter two balls and no strikes but now at least he gets a fresh start against a new batter but he needs to get back into the strike zone and start pitching with conviction [Applause] lindor stands in here takes ball one low [Applause] the one right through there for a strike [Applause] the 1-1 is fouled off [Applause] in the dirt [Applause] [Music] next pitch off the play and now it’s three and two and that’s awfully close i don’t know how you take that he’s seeing the ball out of the pitcher’s hand really well right now foul we’ll see another payoff pitch very dominant with that fast ball inside hitters going to be conscious of that now you have the outer half of the plate to work with out there on the mound and ball four to a board well that’s a nice job of grinding out that at bat saw a lot of pitches and ends up drawing a lot very gritty and now the Mets DH Stin Marte [Applause] [Music] Swing and a ground ball and that one gets through into center field the run comes in to score from second it’s an RBI single it’s now nine to four here comes the manager out of the Braves dugout and he will make a move to the pen spencer Schwelenbach done for the night and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base back with a new pitcher after this now pitching new pitcher for the Braves Aaron Bummer and you know bullpin guys can struggle sometimes when they’re called upon with big leads because it just doesn’t have the same intensity as a tight game so we’ll see how sharp he is your mental toughness matters in situations like this as well first and second no outsielder and now the right fielder Juan Sto these are the moments you dream of as a hitter bottom of the ninth with a chance to tie or win the game it’s time to live up to the big moment [Applause] that finds the mark on the inside corner well in this situation with runners on you got to get ahead in the count so that you can dictate the rest of the at bat nice job right there and now the count is even lindor the lead runner out at second marte on it first with nobody out on the ground right side dive and he’s got it on the money nice play well he looks so comfortable making that play dives comes up with it from one knee like he’s just playing catch with his kid i love cross the diamond at first [Applause] next is the cleanup hitter for the Mets Pete Alonzo [Applause] and that one sliced foul [Applause] oh one down hit weekly on the ground allen tosses to first there for the out runner scores from third so they’re down to their final out so up next for New York Brandon NMOM you just have to find a way to keep this game alive this place will go nuts if you do [Applause] [Applause] line drive and foul ball [Applause] they’re down to their final strike one strike away swing and a miss struck him out and that is the ball game nice work out of the bullpen for that first MLB Wanboo they turned to him
