it’s right for you But let’s get to this one between the athletics and the Detroit Tigers For the Detroit Tigers it’s Dietrich Ends listed as the starter here making his first start at the major league level since 2021 While the um the Athletics will send out Jeffree Springs here Sorry the reason why I paused there is because I was doing a little bit digging as I was saying that and no ends his last major league appearance was 2021 His first start was back in 2017 So you know ends is going to be a bit of a tricky you know sort of cap for this game We’ll have to see if he’s going to be more of like a bullpen arm or if there’s you know going to be sort of sustained um usage for Ends going forward Now in AAA this season in Toledo for uh for the Tigers farm system you know NS has been solid A 2.89 erra you know across 62 and a third innings of work And this was after you know ends had spent the better part of the last four seasons overseas in the in the Japanese league and the KBO So he’s been able to uh he’s been able to hold his own and I think that you know ends could at least be a solid option here against an athletics lineup that yeah got the better of the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday from what it looks like because this this video has been recorded before the ending of that game But this is still an athletics lineup that in the last two weeks against left-handed pitching hitting just 228 Their team OPS numbers are below league average Their isolated power numbers are solid Those are top 10 but the hits are few and far between So much so that it just makes it hard to get a good feel about what we’re going to be seeing from the athletics on a day-to-day basis against lefties Now the Tigers on the other hand are against the lefty here as well in Jeffree Springs And Springs is you know my Forest Gump You never know what you’re going to get He’s truly like the box of chocolates But we have seen you know Jeffrey Springs really have issues you know at times on the road and especially against lineups that can hit left-handed pitching fairly well I mean yeah if you look at Springs you know before that uh start against Toronto he went seven innings of one-run ball against the Dodgers six and two/3s of one-run ball against the uh the Giants and also had six innings of two-run ball against the Royals but also gave up six runs on six hits over two innings against the uh the Blue Jays in a loss And the thing that stood out for me is I remember that game vividly going into that game The Blue Jays were absolutely demolishing left-handed pitching And I just don’t think it’s going to be any different here He issued six walks in that start The Tigers in the last two weeks against lefties second best isolated power numbers in baseball hitting you know 304 overall A 10.2% walk rate is sec is third highest in baseball Their team OPS numbers are second best Babip is is top 10 So I think that the Tigers are the better team here I think they just sort of stumbled on uh on Wednesday more than anything else I mean they’ve got the better bullpen in the last seven days and I just think that at the end of the day what it boils down to here for me is that said we’re getting a reasonable price with the Tigers and I just don’t know if this is a very good matchup here for Jeffrey Springs So I’m going to roll with the Tigers in this one and that’s
