If Waddel were to trade Provorov, what do you think the return would be?

  1. Assuming he was signed, the return would be entirely tied to his contract terms and how other GM’s viewed it. It could range from a late 1st if he was signed for term at below market dollars, to completely untradeable and a negative asset if he is wildly overpaid and signed for 8 years.

  2. Waddell could trade Provorov’s negotiation rights. The Jackets can try to resign him before free agency other teams can’t contact him before free agency. Another team could trade for him in the hopes they could sign him before the signing period opens up. This is typically for around a fourth round pick.

  3. At the deadline we would’ve gotten a good haul. I imagine a first and a second or first and a third.
