His numbers are basically similar to Schmaltz’s, so a contract similar to Schmaltz’s makes complete sense.
I didn’t think this trade could possibly get better. And then I learn that we signed him to a steal of a contract!

4 of the 5 years are RFA years. Which explains only paying him 7.7. Still decent business all around.
Great deal for Mammoth, but not a complete fleece. Kesselring is a really versatile young (and big) defenseman who fit in up-and-down the lineup. You always need that to make any playoff runs. Doan was going to get phased out with our prospect pipeline.
Peters’s contract could be an absolute steal if he keeps popping off in our system. Even with a decline it’s still fair, at worst. Given our cap space, this is a great opportunity that we jumped on.
Overall great deal for our club. Great work by the GM.
