We really should only want him for the contract Chevy felt comfortable offering. He’s injury prone. If he can get paid on the open market – fill your boots. He’s never had more than 70 points in a season…we don’t need to overpay for him
What I take from this is he knows his ceiling is sub 8.5 2nd line minutes on the Jets. If a team offers him a big ticket and 1st line 1st PP promises he will take it. But if he gets a bunch of offers similar to what the Jets table he will just stay here.
He signed long term last deal, he has earned the right to test his value around the league as much as it would hurt to see our Danish prince leave.
Someone mentioned this during the playoffs, on what he felt could be his last home game here in Winnipeg, he was skating around and waving at the crowd. He knew what he wanted to do months ago.
He’s not really worth what some other team is going to pay him. It sucks cause he’s fun to watch and is hard to replace for this team.

Will always respect Ehlers and he had a good run with us. But imo he’s definitely replaceable for under what he’ll get on market.

Ehlers for Toews seems like a great trade off.
